He rejected me in front of the entire pack and told me I was not enough to be his Luna. I did not beg. I did not cry where anyone could see me. I signed the papers he put in front of me and I walked out of that pack house with nothing except the secret I had been keeping for three weeks. I was carrying his child. Three years later I have a life he knows nothing about, a daughter who has his eyes and his stubbornness and absolutely no idea who her father is, and a position in a rival pack that has made me someone people think twice before crossing. But then he shows up. Not as the Alpha who threw me away but as a man who has lost everything, his memories, his pack, his wealth, and is standing at my door with no idea that the last time we were in the same room he destroyed me completely. He does not remember rejecting me but I remember every word. The question is not whether I still feel something when he looks at me. The question is whether the man standing in front of me now is the same man who did what he did, or someone different wearing the same face. And whether it matters either way.

Chapter: CHAPTER FIVE
Serena's POV"You're not strong enough yet, lay down for a while," the healer said, arranging his pillow for him.I stood at the side of the room and watched her fuss with the pillow and the blanket and the small tray of things on the bedside table and I could not stop looking at him.Three years of building a life that did not have him in it, of waking up every morning and making a deliberate choice to face forward rather than backward, of looking at Aria's grey eyes across the breakfast table and finding a way to make peace with what they reminded me of.And now he was here. In a clinic bed in my pack's medical wing, pale and scarred and looking at the ceiling with absolutely no idea who I was.I didn't know yet if I should be happy about that or sad that he couldn't remember who I was."Serena."I blinked twice.Bren was looking at me from the other side of the bed."Aren't you going to ask him some questions?" she said. "For the investigation.""Yes," I said. "Right. Yes."I pulle

Chapter: CHAPTER FOUR
Kael's POVThe ceiling was the first thing I saw.White and plain and unfamiliar, with a small crack running from the light fitting toward the far corner that my eyes traced twice before I understood that I was awake and that the ceiling did not belong anywhere I recognized.I looked around to see if I could place a finger on where exactly I was.I could feel the softness of the bed beneath me. The room was small and smelled like herbs and something medicinal underneath them. My body felt like it had been taken apart and put back together.I pushed myself up slowly and the ache clarified into something sharper that made me stop halfway and breathe through it before continuing.Sitting up, I looked down at my arm. There were deep scars on my arm, all around it. I turned my right arm over and studied the marks without fully understanding them and then looked up at the rest of the room. I was in a clinic of some kind.I tried to remember how I had gotten here but nothing came to mind.Th

Chapter: CHAPTER THREE
Serena's POV"Oh it's just a marble, I thought it was something else" I said, keeping my voice easy and my face easier.Lance looked at me for a half second longer than felt comfortable and then nodded and turned back toward the path we had come from. I slipped the ring deeper into my pocket and kept my hand there as we walked, my fingers closing around the cool metal of it.The Blackthorn symbol.I had grown up looking at that symbol. It had been on the gates of the pack house and on the official documents and on the ring that Kael wore on his right hand, the one that had been passed down through three generations of Blackthorn Alphas. I had looked at that ring enough times to know every line of the design, the specific way the two wolf heads curved toward each other at the center, the small detail at the base that most people missed unless they were looking very closely. But how did it get here, all the way from the blackthorn pack to the border lands or was it stolen from Kael.A q

Chapter: CHAPTER TWO
Serena's POV“Mummy see I found the necklace you were looking for”Aria said lifting up the golden chain in the air.Her little hands swung in the air.“Thank you baby,”I said.“Now go inside, you know mummy doesn't like you coming out of the house, it's not safe for you yet, there are so many dangerous wolves out there”“But mummy, I want to play with the other kids,”she said, stumping her little feet on the ground aggressively.“No”I said and pulled her into the house, her screams filled the air.She had his stubborn spirit, I tried everyday to forget him but it was hard when your daughter looks exactly the same as the man you're trying to forget.Same dark hair, same grey eyes.It was like a piece of him was still with me.Aria went to a corner to sit quietly, it broke my heart that I couldn't give her the freedom she wanted but I couldn't risk getting her exposed, if anyone were to find out who she really was and who her father was, they might try to use her to get to him, To make

Chapter: CHAPTER ONE
Serena's POVThe ceremony was supposed to be the best night of my life. The most wonderful moment in the life of any female wolf. Older wolves would always pull you aside to talk about the mating ceremony.Everything you had ever been through would make sense. Every hard year, every lonely night, every moment of feeling like an outsider because of your low background. It would all make sense, they said.I believed them.I was twenty one years old and I believed every word of it.The pack hall was full. Every member of the Blackthorn Pack standing in their rows, dressed in the formal colors, the candles lit the way they were only lit for ceremonies that mattered. I stood at the front of it in a white dress that someone had pressed that morning and I held myself very still and I did not let my hands shake even though they wanted to.Kael stood across from me.He was twenty five and already Alpha and already everything the pack needed him to be, tall and broad and carrying that particu
