Jaxon

Adjusting my cufflinks in the hallway outside the media conference room, trying to get this interview over with as quickly as possible, I watch as my assistant Liza approaches.

She’s clutching her tablet with that look she gets when she thinks she needs to sell me on something.

“I really think you should know that today's journalist isn't like the others. She's doing an in-depth championship series, focusing on each player rather than the whole team,” Liza continues to explain.

Believe it or not, I’ve heard this exact pitch from her mouth before, and as I straighten my tie, my mind starts cataloging the clipped responses I'll give.

This is just another journalist looking for the angle that'll set off their career, or probably hoping I'll slip up and give them something personal to exploit.

After years of interviews, I’ve learned how to maneuver my way through them.

"She won't be asking any invasive personal questions," I state more than ask, meeting Liza's eyes with the look that usually ends these conversations.

"Absolutely not," Liza insists, following me as I start walking toward the conference room. "She's incredibly professional. Her work speaks for itself. She's done a f*e acclaimed pieces with several high-profile athletes. Her reputation for cutting straight to the point is the reason why NSN chose her to lead. You might know her, actually. Her name is…"

"Yo, J!" Jake Morrison's voice booms down the hallway, cutting off whatever Liza was about to say.

Our wide receiver jogs up with that shit-eating grin he wears when he thinks he's about to make my day.

He’s one of the four humans on the Dallas Titans, and the only guy who doesn’t address me with authority as his captain.

"Dude, you hit the lottery getting the first interview. The reporter they sent? She's like the next Megan Fox. I swear to God, she’s a total smoke show."

I adjust the small microphone clipped to the lapel of my jacket, Jake's comments not improving my already sour mood about this entire shitshow.

"And knowing you, old man, you probably wouldn't even notice the difference since you're too busy thinking about playbooks and protein shakes in your free time," Jake continues, laughing at his own joke.

I give Jake the look that usually shuts him up, but he's too caught up in his own amusement to notice. I turn to Liza.

"Everything’s set?"

"Yes, sir, everything's ready," she confirms.

"All right, go charm the pants off her, J," Jake calls out as I push toward the conference room doors.

When I cross the door into the media room, I expect the stifling environment that comes with reporters who’ll twist my words for a sound bite.

I expect to find cameras ready to start flashing my way.

What I don't expect is for my wolf’s howl of recognition to hit me like a goddamn freight train.

That familiar scent—lavender mixed with something uniquely her—is one that I'd recognize in a crowd of thousands. It reaches me first, like it’s lulling me into its trap.

The bond that I've spent five years trying to bury suddenly pulls at my chest in a grip that has pain and ache dancing like two devils inside me.

My eyes scan the room immediately, and it doesn’t take more than a second for me to spot her.

Mate.

My wolf roars in my chest like he’s finally been put out of his misery after years of torture.

And before I can stop myself, my lips part and I whisper in fucking disbelief, “Freckles?”

She is the reporter?

Amelia The rush of adrenaline in my veins is exhilarating, almost freeing. My shoes pound hard against the asphalt, and my heart beats like resounding drums in my chest.Violet skies grow darker on the horizon, and the cool evening breeze whisks my hair behind my ears as I intensify my speed, pushing through the thoughts clouding my mind. I go two more rounds on the running path beside a small empty park, and before I take another turn, the hairs on my neck rise in alert.Sudden uneasiness creeps under my skin, and my steps slow down. There’s no use ignoring the feeling that someone is hovering, or lurking in the shadows, watching me.I feel the heat of their gaze following my every move. I hear the silent sound of footsteps in the gentle breeze. My heart rate spikes slightly, and my wolf howls in caution.I curl my fists and stay alert.Once, I look over my shoulder, ready to take a swing at the stalker. But there’s no one there. Quietly, I move again, deliberately counting my step

Conrad “You’re making a mistake,” Simion grits out, struggling against Zayne’s restraint. He’s seething, his eyes filled with so much rage.“You’re going to regret this!”“Am I?” I smirk. “Simion, I’m your alpha. I’m beginning to despise your tone and lack of respect.”Simion hurls back a manic laugh. “I made you alpha. I can pull you down just as easily.”My grin widens. Now that’s a challenge I’d like to take up if it means I get to the bottom of this. “Making me alpha was your second mistake, Simion.”Getting Amelia involved in the mess he created was his first mistake. The tension in the air is palpable. My wolf stirs and roars, every bone in my body growling with rage and thirst for revenge, for justice—to clear Amelia’s name.“Unchain her,” I order, turning away from Simion and returning to the wooden chair across from Selah. “Let them go.”My men do as I say, hauling Selah up. She’s weak and sore from being tied to a chair for hours, and she’s barely able to stand on her own.

Killian I hold her wrist and take her with me as I rise to my feet. “Come, I’ll get you home first. You need to rest.” She doesn’t try to shift away from my grip. “I came with my car.”“You don’t need to worry about it. I’ll have someone drive it home for you.” I scoop her up in bridal style, and surprisingly, she doesn’t protest. She secures her arms around my neck, and a blush taints her cheeks. Her body feels so warm and soft against mine, and a grunt rumbles deep in my throat. My wolf stirs beneath my skin, restless and hungry—not for blood this time, but for her.Flashes of our night together—of her naked body beneath mine, gasping and moaning, my name fills my head. The pull towards her is getting stronger each day, as if something’s awakening inside me that’s far stronger and deeper than the mating bond we had. She’s like an instinct I can’t cage.I can feel it when she’s in danger. I smell her from distances no wolf should. It’s as if every part of me—human and wolf—is awaken

  • A Secret Baby For The Alpha Quarterback   Chapter 116

ConradMy wolf growls with protective rage, and the rogues shuffle backwards, fear bleeding into their eyes as their gazes bounce between Zayne and me.I glance at Amelia, at the blood trailing down her arm and mixing with the earth underneath her, and my wolf emerges, fully taking over.Positioning myself in front of Amelia, I howl, daring any of them to come for her. Then I lunge forward and attack. My claws dig into flesh, ripping it apart, and my fangs do the same, sinking into bones until they crack with a sickening sound. The rest of the world fades as my animalistic instincts take over, and protecting Amelia is all I can think about.I don’t stop until all the rogue wolves are nothing but a mess of broken bones and spilled blood. The lucky one among them who’s still alive is hanging by the thread of death, whimpering and barely breathing.Zayne is not as merciful, though. He sinks his claws into the wolf’s neck, tearing through flesh until his whimper fades, replaced by silence

Amelia Sapphira’s expression tightens, but she doesn’t argue. She just exhales sharply and drops her gaze, muttering something under her breath. My phone buzzes, pricking through the tension.I glance down. “It’s a pickup message. Some stuff I ordered finally arrived.”“Want me to come with you?” She asks, though she still looks wound tight from the conversation.“No, no need. I won’t be long.” I shake my head. “Let’s continue this conversation later.”I’m already moving before the thought finishes. By the time I reach the outskirts of the old park and approach the pickup warehouse, it’s deserted and quiet. I sense the eerie silence and lingering sense of someone watching, and it makes my skin crawl.Something’s wrong.I look around, starting to retrace my steps, and that is when I smell them before I see them, the sharp, musky stench of rogue wolves cuts through the cold air. Three of them step out from surrounding buildings.A shiver runs down my spine.I recognize them–the matted

  • A Secret Baby For The Alpha Quarterback   Chapter 114

AmeliaIt’s a cold afternoon, much colder than usual. The roads are busy, and the world around me goes fast. Everything seems noisy and imperfectly organized, as it should be.Almost everything. My life currently feels like a rocking boat. I still can’t shake off the feeling that someone is out there, waiting and watching for reasons unknown to me. Every five minutes, the vision of the dark figure by the tree flashes through my mind, making me glance over my shoulder while my wolf prowls restlessly beneath my skin.My head is a mess from trying to piece together who the hell could be stalking me. Simion, as cunning as he may be, is not the type to play childish games. And Selah is too impulsive to even come up with a trick like that. With those two out of the picture, I can’t think of anyone else unless there’s another member of the Silver Moon Pack who’s upset about my involvement with Conrad. But who would go that far?I bow my head and rub my temple. I can already feel the headach
