View MoreMy life as I know it is over. I Savannah Jaymes Blakemore now has no will to live. Why? Just why does my dad have to move us across the country?
I am so proud of him for getting this huge promotion. But why couldn’t the job keep us here in Wake Forest, North Carolina? Why does it have to be in Santa Monica, California? I must leave the town I love, leave all my friends, my school, and everything I know and love for my father’s new position as the new VP of Lockwood Finance Industries. My last day in school was the hardest. Me and my friends hugged and cried in the parking lot outside until it was time for me to go so, I climbed into my car and drove away from the school for the last time. A red Hyundai Genesis was the last gift my mom bought me before I lost her to cancer during my junior year in high school. She knew she wasn’t going to be here for when I passed my driver’s test. So, the day I passed my test my dad gave me a small black box with a red bow on top of it and a letter written in my mom’s handwriting. I have missed seeing her writing so much over the years. Inside the box were the keys to my car, the letter was my mom telling me how proud she is of me and how sorry she is that she’s not here to see me drive and with this car, she’s always going to be with me wherever I go. I’m taking the long drive home, driving through the town saying my final goodbyes before the big move tomorrow morning. I pull into the driveway outside our two-story house. Climbing out of the car I look at the sold sign on the lawn, sighing to myself knowing how real the move is. Slowly walking up the steps onto the porch, I open the door and step in “Dad?” I call out, a deep voice from the back of the house replies. “In the kitchen sweetpea,” so I follow the sound of his voice and head for the kitchen. As I walk into the kitchen seeing all this the boxes and packaging on the kitchen counters, I hug Dad. “Hey Dad” I say softly. “Hey there baby girl how was school?” “It was okay as usual but hard to say goodbye all at once.” Looking at my dad seeing the same green eyes I have, looking tired with thin lines surrounding them. He nods “I understand sweetpea, we are leaving all we know behind for a new adventure.” I nod in agreement sighing “I know Dad, I know why don’t you get us some sodas, I’ll order us a pizza for dinner, and we’ll eat by the fire pit, and I’ll play us a song for our last night here.” He squeezes me into his side “sounds perfect baby girl I’ll go and start the fire while we wait.” Sitting round the roaring fire pit out back on the logs, enjoying our large pepperoni pizza under the stars. “It’s so beautiful out here tonight” Dad says looking up feeling so peaceful I nod and agree. “Yeah, it’s so relaxing out here, just a shame mom isn’t here with us to enjoy it our new adventure with going to California, she would have loved it.” “She would have baby girl indeed she would.” Taking a sip of his soda “just remember she is always with us no matter where we are in spirit, when you feel the breeze, it’s her telling us she’s here.” As Dad says this a light gentle breeze blows around us and we look at each other and smile as we know she’s here. Here is a list of the songs that are the inspiration for this book. Chase P.O.VFour years later Well, it’s been four amazing years in San Fransisco. Savannah and I graduated college last week. I got a degree in Business and in Finance, where Savannah got one in English Literature and in Music. Where I double majored in college Savannah had a major in English but a minor in music. We both graduated with high honors. The world is now our oyster. But before we can even think about anything to do with the world and how we wish to change it I am back at the office wanting to speak to Savannah’s father. It is now time we had that discussion I said I planned to have with him back when we were seniors in high school. Fuck that feels like forever ago. I told her father on the night of the Christmasqurade ball that one day I will come to him to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage and today is that day. I have arranged for a meeting with Mr. Blakemore to take place in the company’s board room and I asked my dad to be present during this meeting. I plan fo
It has been a couple of weeks since prom and the big day is approaching quickly. Today we get our yearbooks and get them signed before graduation day that is this Saturday. It’s hard to believe this is our final week in high school. It feels like today is still my first day of school but it’s actually almost my last. Not paying attention to where I was going or who was around me with my yearbook in hand I collide into a big, solid mass of a person knocking my books, my yearbook, and some odd bits of paper all over the floor. Bending down to pick everything up, still not paying attention to who I bumped into, on instinct I do apologize to the person as I start picking up my things. I see the person I bumped into bend down and starts to help me with picking up my things and holds out my English book and my notes to hand back to me. I can’t believe I’ve done this again. “You may need these sweetheart,” Hang on a minute? Did I just? Looking up I see Chase smiling at me as he holds my stuf
We all climb out of the limo and the guys are all holding our arms and escorts us up into the building. Two doormen kindly open the door for us and welcome us to the Crystal Palace and to enjoy our evening. First stop for us as Chase and Lucas recommended is to get our pictures done first so then that way, we don’t look too red faced or sweaty. That is actually not a bad idea if you think about it. We get a bunch of pictures took, we had solo pictures, the six of us together, just the girls, just the guys, and with our dates. I can’t wait to see how the pictures come out because I will be getting a copy of every single one. Entering into the ballroom of the palace we can hear the DJ playing ‘Just Dance’ by Lady Gaga. We walked around couples and across the dancefloor to the only table that is free for us to claim. The girls and I put our purses on the table and hit the dance floor with how good the music is sounding. After a couple of songs, the guys joined us on the dance floor alre
Today is the day. Today is New Year’s Eve. Today is the day of my best friend and my boyfriend’s birthday party. I finished helping Jen set up yesterday and what she had planned is something out of this world for a birthday party. If she fails at being a lawyer, (which I highly doubt it) she should
Walking into the house I brace myself for my father’s wrath. I head on into the lounge to see my father sitting on the couch with what looks like a coffee in his hand and a very pissed off look on his face. “Good morning Savannah,” Dad says so coldly. “Morning Dad, did you stay up all night waitin
Savannah P.O.V Today is the day of this mystery date with Chase tonight. I wonder what it could be? He said to dress warm and comfortable so it can’t be at a fancy restaurant. Maybe it could be an outside movie theatre? Well whatever Chase has planned if it’s anything like our first date a couple of
“Consider me surprised Jen, I never would have suspected you and your mother to make such a memorable meal such as this,” Dad compliments Jen. “Thank you, Dad I asked Mom after Thanksgiving if I could help her as when I have a family of my own in the future I would love to be able to make a dinner
