LOGINCHAPTER SIX
THE CLAIM 8 Eva's POV) My heart was beating against my ribs. Mate? He uttered that word as if it were determined, as if he was more than serious… about it. I felt an immediate spark in me, and I was thinking I had my wolf in me. Orion looked over the counter at me. The dinner had gone quiet. A number of the customers stared between us, but no one dared to speak. His eyes were flashing into mine, hot and sure. My wolf stirred up in me and I had to scratch my skin. I dried my hands and my apron, and got out of the counter. “Outside," I said. My voice sounded louder than the way I thought it would come out. Orion stalked me silently. I felt the cold evening air on my face as I continued into our alley. There was the smell of old grease and damp pavement with his strong smell. It made my head turn. I shook my neck, turning my face to him. "What did you just call me?" “Mate,” he repeated, his voice low and rough. He stood too close. His broad shoulders shot out and reflected the little light on the street. “The bond broke the very first night I smelled the woods on your body. I tried to fight it. But it's there, Ava. You feel it too." I really felt it. A warm pull cracked in my belly. Each time he spoke to me, it pulled even harder. My wolf was pushing me to take a step forward, to rub himself against his chest and taste him. But my head knew better. “You're the Alpha,” I said, and shook his head. “You ought to understand me better than this. You had allowed Rhys to talk back at you as he had the right. You deceived your own pack on behalf of my sake and not to order about my sake. That is no way to behave like a real Alpha does. Orion's jaw tightened. Something dark came flashing in his eyes, after which there was a momentary pause. Then it was gone. He stayed calm. Too calm. I have not to behead all the wolves that ask a question, I said to myself. "The pack is already restless. Cain is watching our borders. When I begin to reprimand my own little heads, we are weakened at the heart. I laughed and did not feel joy. That is the reason why they refer to you, Orion, as weak. You forgive too easily. You talk when you should roar. According to my father, a real Alpha does not negotiate. He takes what belongs to him." His eyes narrowed. And what, hath your father wished you take? I looked away. The truth burned in my throat. Alpha Cain, Elder Lynx, had been pushing me towards her for several months. Cain was severe, loud and all was frightened by him. This was the type of strength the pack admired now. Orion stepped closer. His body heat was round my body. He did not touch me, but his being brushed me as hands slid on my skin. My breath came faster. You have too much of that, he said, repeating the night in the woods. Some large hand came forward and touched a strand of my face hair. His fingers were warm. The touch shot me a shiver all along my spine. I swallowed hard. "Stop doing that." "Doing what?" Making me feel this way when I know you are not strong enough to me. His golden eyes darkened. He bent down, almost touching his ear against my mouth. "The bond doesn't lie, Ava. Your wolf knows me. She wants me." His voice dropped even lower. And I can tell you how wet you are just now. Heat flooded my face. My thighs clashed against each other. The bond boiled between us. One crazy moment I wished that he would lean me up against the wall and tear my clothes and have his way with me there in the ratty alley. I shoved his chest. He did not move much Brethren, he was too large, too heavy--but he made one step backward. That I am not yours, I thought and breathed fast. "Not yet. Maybe not ever." Orion stood and regarded me long and long. His expression remained stony, but I could read his weariness in his eyes once more. It was the same expression he had when the pack got out of the clearing. "Tonight at the quarry," he said. "You will come. Show them the stone I gave you. Stand by my side. Let them see the bond." I shook my head. I am not ready to be appropriated in a place of everyone. It is not up to you anymore, he answered. His tone was tender, yet the lyrics were bulky. We are already getting sucked by the connection. Resistance to it will only succeed in making the hurt greater. He got into his pocket and took out another folded bill, only two hundred dollars this time. He pressed it into my hand. "For your heater," he said. "And for your time tonight. Don't be late." I desired to plunge the money back in him. Rather, I made my fingers round it. My water heater was actually faulty and winter was approaching. He walked away, and I yelled back at him, "Orion!” He paused without looking around. You can not continue to save me with falsities, I said. And one day your pack will be able to live the truth. And where and when they do, they will not follow an insensitive Alpha who places a girl above his own strength. He remained quiet a couple of heart beats. Then perhaps I must cease being tender, I said to myself. There was something queer, the words gave me a shiver. I wanted to believe him half the time. The other portion, the ambitious one which my father had raised, understood that the tenderly clear Alphas had no chance of surviving in our world. I saw him go off to the increasing darkness. My wolf pawed the ground, in me, in furious impatience at my having driven him away. Where his fingers had touched my hair my body still tingled. I put the money and the warm granite stone in my pocket and went back into the diner. My phone buzzed. It was a text from my father. The campsite had fallen silent. Most of the Betas had slept off after the celebration was held to mark our victory. I lay in Orion’s big bed, tucked into the privacy of his tent as my body felt warm and soft as we got attached to a tree. Then after a few hours, I began to feel bored. “Orion, why are you sleeping off?” I kept muttering those words as if I was also going to reply to myself. ‘Hold on,’ my wolf warned. ‘Let him sleep for a a little while…” I turned my head from right to the left. Orion yawned and woke up. “My only sweetheart… sweet Luna.” “I felt your soft eyes as they were close,” I said, pointing a finger at him. ….Orion brought me to another place after our first bout. His thick, strong arms clutched me tightly to him and for a few seconds, the cold High Alpha was forgotten. He appeared to be gentle. It seems he had forgotten all about Cain.It appears he lost track of the war. As of now, only both of us matter in the world… right there. Orion pasted a soft kiss on my shou
"No," I finally opened my mouth, speaking fast. My hands reached out to touch his broad chest. "I was only worried about keeping the warriors safe. Cain has witches with him. He uses dark spells… We have to be careful!”Orion snickered, and grabbed me by the wrists and forced them to my side. "Let him bring his witches. He cannot stop my savage blood with his fake magic, and you, Ava, are the one who will help me destroy him!"I flinched. Me? Destroy Cain? Then suddenly, Orion bent down, and kissed my neck where I had the mark, making me sniff in thick air sharply. Afterwards, he reset a table before the both of us. “I… ish… n!” I snorted, my chest beating fast for the slight pain I felt. “Can’t you hold in for just a few seconds?” Orion yelled back, smiling at me. My breath stopped for a while. My body began to melt as soon as he touched me. It was crazy how much I desired him, and how much I needed him to touch my body. ‘He will soon fuck you!’ My wolf stirred in me, making my head
Then very fast, Orion opened the door and tapped my shoulders. “Let us go back into the hall!” I was shocked.…Conversations moved on and then continued again, as if everyone had been waiting for permission to whisper. Heads kept turning as whispers continued to spread too quickly to stop.Orion blinked and I shook my head with pride of owning myself to him.Suddenly, the rival Alpha’s eyes met mine again. His glare was clearer this time, but it had a feeling of disapproval that nearly looked like he was still expecting me to understand him. But then, I turned away. The rival Alpha looked away at once, his face turning red as he set his eyes on Orion again. I smiled, but I tried to control myself.‘Mock the rival Alpha well,’ my wolf stirred in me. ‘He must be such a great enemy… He only wants to touch your body and that will be very dangerous. Watch out!’‘Don’t scare me!’ I yelled back with my mind link so nobody would hear me.‘He is just a play rogue,’ I replied then I flinched.Orion tap
The summit hall started buzzing… Something was going to happen. The tension started. I sat right beside Orion, even though his orders had made it clear I belonged at his side, not anywhere else. My father, Elder Lynx, wouldn’t even look at me. His face was covered with shame. When it was time for break, a rival Alpha the eastern border leaned in too close to me. His voice was soft this time… as if he was tasting every word that came out of his mouth. “A beauty like you deserves better than a savage king, Lady Lynx.”I didn’t say anything. He repeated, his voice breaking perhaps because of what he had seen coming. “A beauty like you… really deserves…” Before I could pull away from the Alpha, a deep and low growl escaped his mouth through the air into the room. I sneezed hard. It was Orion. In one quick move, he caught my wrist and drew me very high up and led me to the next chamber. Afterwards, the door shut behind us.“You are mine,” he snapped, his word claiming me. “Everything on your
I gasped… and I turned my eyes up to the clouds. The full moon shed its light through the spaces of the window. It made me feel reluctant to go anywhere, making it hard to pretend that the morning light wasn’t there at all. My skin was warm under it. It was like a soft fashion to rest on. I started turning around, shaking my head and unable to stand still for long periods of time. The heat I had spent years snubbing… The heat of the bond returned right as Orion stepped back into my life. Now, it would always be there, and present. My breath stopped for a second, as if my body had been stiffened by ice. Orion’s scent sank deeper into my skin again, and the smell was heavier with every breath, sweet scent that filled up in the air. I snapped, trying to calm down, but it was useless. My heart was beating faster than usual, and I held my chest, that was beating very loud. Finally, the door flared open. There was no soft knock. I had no hint whoever was there… I guess something was about to
Chapter 11 The sound of my footsteps was an echo. I was even hearing it tingle in my ears. Orion now had a fortress. Suddenly, the large door flared open. I began to stare at my new chamber. It was a very beautiful place and the silver doorknob on the side of his house slammed behipnd me like a cage closing around me.My eyes started blurrig and I was seeing objects appearing larger before me.Two years before now, I had formally renounced our bond and made fun of him.But the bond felt as alive as ever as it hit my ribs like a large fire, making me forget my regret and the unwanted desire was really brewing at the base of my stomach.I walked into the room and stopped.Orion was waiting for me right before the fireplace, a large figure with a feeling of superiority surrounding him.As he blinked, and his eyeballs were fixed on me, I almost fell to the floor. "LIAISON," he exclaimed, pronouncing my title as if it were a curse. I turned my gaze to the floor as he kept yelling at me with tha
CHAPTER FIVEMATED TO AN ALPHA ? (Ava's POV) I didn't sleep. I was worn out already, and feeling too cold was something else. I kept seeing Orion standing at his angry packland. I touched the warm granite stone in my pocket. It was real. I was now part of a dangerous plan. The next morning, I w
CHAPTER FOURSURROUNDED (Ava's POV) I sucked in a breath. They could smell me. They knew I was in the area, even from a distance, by scent alone. Orion raised his head. And suddenly, he looked at his pack straight in the eye, and he shifted his posture. From tired man to Alpha in an instant—p
CHAPTER THREESTRONG SCENT(Ava's POV) He supported me. I could feel the power in his hand. His face was right there in mine. Although his golden eyes were nearly black in the dim light, they were burning. “I was focused,” I whispered, trying to pull away. It was all just a bit too much. “You w
CHAPTER TWOTHE PACK (Ava's POV) The next day passed. There were a lot of customers. I flinched at the sound of the doorbell ringing each time. I didn't expect to see his frightening golden eyes peering at me. He never appeared. I was relieved but also a little nervous. The night arrived t
