CHAPTER 1

Thelma

I sat up carefully on the bed and stared at the dark-skinned, handsome man sleeping beside me.

It was an unforgettable hot night between us, and I could still feel the flesh between my thighs throbbing from how hard he had pounded me the previous night.

How had it all started?

I had been ridiculed by my best friends, Sandra and Ella, because I was still a virgin at twenty-four, and I was pained by the realization that I looked stupid in front of them.

I rushed down to the club nearby to gulp down whatever liquor they had and forget my sorrows, but then a man approached me and asked, “Hello, miss.”

I stared back at the man, wondering what he wanted, but I was too sad to listen.

He grabbed the bottle from my hands and dragged me along with him.

“Who are you? Let me go!” I screamed. I was wearing a slim-fitting long red gown and black low-heeled shoes.

I was the only daughter of my billionaire parents and the sole heir of B.H Group. The people in the bar didn’t dare interfere; they were all absorbed in their own bottles.

“Calm down, miss. I don’t mean any harm,” the man said. I paused and looked up at his face.

He wore a black suit and looked older than me—middle-aged, probably in his forties.

I had never fantasized about having an affair with an old man who could have been my uncle’s age-mate. I immediately struggled to pull my hand from his grip.

“Calm down, miss. I don’t mean any harm,” he repeated, leading me to a corner of the bar.

“If you don’t mean any harm, then let go of my hand,” I said.

He sighed and quickly spoke. “Look, miss, I need your help, and I think you’re the best lady for the job.”

“What job?” I asked, my sharp blue eyes fixed on his dark face.

I wondered if he was a boss or a servant. In City B, only billionaires could afford to live there. What help could this man possibly need?

I was fair-skinned. He said, “Look, miss, I know you don’t know me, but I saw you rush in here. I could tell you were heartbroken.”

“So what do you need me for?” I asked.

He released my left hand—the one he had dragged me by—and said, “I want you to accompany me and spend a night with my boss.”

“What? Your… your what?” I asked in disbelief.

I was the daughter of the richest man in City B. How could this man be offering me such a task?

I was already heartbroken from my two best friends’ insults. He continued, “I will pay you well, miss, but please come with me. I don’t have much time.”

I wanted to protest. First, I didn’t know him. Second, I had never gone out with a stranger; I was always heavily guarded by my father’s bodyguards. My dad never easily allowed me out of his sight. In the bar I had rushed into, his security men were still outside on the ground floor, waiting where my friends and I had been celebrating my birthday in the private hall before they laughed at me.

I thought it best to follow the elderly man; he looked responsible and honest, and more than anything I wanted to lose my virginity quickly so my friends wouldn’t ridicule me again.

My father wanted to trade me in marriage to the son of a top billionaire, but he hadn’t yet found the right match that met his requirements.

I silently followed the man. We got into the back seat of his black car while he drove me out of the luxurious hotel. Two guards sat silently in the rear; I sat in the front passenger seat beside him.

We arrived at a magnificent building. I wondered who owned the powerful mansion.

“Step out, miss,” the middle-aged man said. I realized I hadn’t even asked his name.

I gulped and stepped out.

“Come with me.”

I followed the man into the magnificent building. It looked as powerful as my father’s mansion. Stationed guards stood all around it.

“Welcome, Sir Adam,” the maids greeted the man who had brought me. They bowed respectfully to me as well. I waved my left hand in dismissal, and Sir Adam looked surprised.

“Come with me, miss,” he said.

We walked upstairs to the second floor—the house was a magnificent two-storey building. He paused and spoke. “My boss is inside. Please wait here first, miss. Let me attend to him.”

I was scared and curious to know who the boss of this magnificent building was. Was he my father’s age or a young man like me?

I stood admiring the artistic paintings on the wall—warriors of ancient times—when Sir Adam later stepped out and said, “Come in, miss.”

I sighed and followed him into the sitting room.

I felt all the air in my body stand up in fright as the cold air from the air conditioning blew across my skin. The room was painted white; every item in it seemed invisible and white.

“Look, miss, just do whatever my boss wants. I had drugged him to have sex with you.”

“What?!” My eyes widened at the revelation.

“I’m not a prostitute,” I said, in case that was what Sir Adam thought when he saw me rush into the club.

“I know, miss. Just go in there and you’ll meet my boss. I promise to pay you well, as discussed, and I’ll take you back home safely.”

“Is this a joke? Pay me how much?” I asked, even though I wasn’t broke and owned a black card.

“One million,” Sir Adam said.

I chuckled. “I’m worth way more than that, sir. I can’t go in there. I’m scared.”

“Please, miss,” Sir Adam begged.

“Call me Thelma,” I said. I didn’t want to mention my father’s last name—Sebastian. Anyone in City B would immediately know who my father was; my family was the richest there.

“Okay, Miss Thelma, but we cannot delay. Just name how much you want and I will speak to the old master about it.”

“The old master? Who’s that?” I asked.

“Who’s there?” I heard a deep, masculine voice call from behind the door in front of me. I froze; the voice sounded powerful and very cold.

“Please go in, Miss Thelma. I’ll be outside waiting.” Sir Adam quickly slipped out of the sitting room and shut the door, leaving me alone in the white room.
