On the day my husband handed me divorce papers, he smiled and told me I would regret losing him. Yeah sure. Like men are some lottery prize. He never expected me to walk away. Broken, humiliated, and cast out of the powerful Alpha family I had been forced into, I thought my story had ended... until the one man I should never cross stepped into my life. My ex-husband's stepbrother. And my ex boyfriend. Sinfully handsome. Ruthlessly powerful. Feared by every Alpha alive. He offers me something far more dangerous than revenge. HIM! Ironic, isn't it? Especially when it was wildly believed I betrayed him. He remains my loyal simp. Now I have choices, a man who wants me or a man who needs me and I am not stupid. What begins as a scandal meant to destroy my ex soon becomes an obsession neither of us can control. Every stolen touch, every forbidden kiss, pushes us closer to a line that should never be crossed. But my ex refuses to let me go. The family that betrayed me wants me erased. And the man holding me in his arms has secrets dark enough to start a war between blood and fate. They divorced me to make me disappear instead I became my stepbrother's favorite sin.

Chapter 1

Divorce On His Lips; Death On Hers: Me? Caught Between.

WYNTER

“Ahhhhh!” That scream didn't sound like my daughter anymore.

I froze, the tray of ice chips slipping from my hands and shattering against the tile.

Dear goddess, please.

“Mommy.” I heard her tiny voice call out, a heart wrenching growl accompanying the words almost immediately.

My heart sank deep into my stomach as my body moved on instinct. Kicking the tray off my path, I sprinted towards her room.

Without wasting any time I kicked the door and there she laid.

Convulsing on the hospital bed, her spine bent so far off the mattress that I swear, I heard something crack.

Her eyes lit up with hope of salvation as she saw standing just right there and then she growled again, tears streaming down her eyes as pain shot through her body.

I could tell.

That growl was a sound no five-year-old's body should ever make.

Dark veins were visible through her skin like ink bleeding through paper, crawling up her throat, branching across her cheeks.

My sweet little daughter.

Fear coursed through my veins as I took little steps closer to her, my eyes burning with tears.

“Mommy, where's daddy? Daddy can make it stop right?”

Ah.

There goes my little girl still having all faith she could muster up in her dad while he was probably somewhere across the town, length deep into one of his mistresses.

"Mommy—" The word came out warped, half swallowed by a growl that didn't belong in her throat.

Her fingers curled inward, her nails darkening, while tiny claws protruded out of it.

"Baby, look at me. Look at Mummy—" I got closer to her bed and grabed for her convulsing hand, but the moment our skin touched, she shrieked and wrenched away, her eyes flying open and my stomach dropped through the floor.

My hands instantly flew to the intercom at the corner as I paged a doctor or a nurse, whoever this went to.

“Room 201. My daughter needs medical attention immediately. She seems worse.” I yelled.

Her eyes weren't brown anymore.

They'd gone amber gold, the pupils slit like something feral was staring out from behind them, trapped and clawing to get free.

"It's inside me." Hazel sobbed, her small body arching again, ribs visibly shifting beneath her skin like something underneath was trying to rearrange her bones.

"Mummy, make it stop, make it stop, it's eating me—"

Blood spilled out of the corner of her mouth.

The doctor's warning from an hour ago crashed back into me.

“Her wolf is trying to surface. Five years old, a sprout this early, her body could tear itself apart before it fully turns. We may not be able to stop it.”

My lips trembled. She looked like she was in so much pain and I, her mother, could do absolutely nothing to help her or ease her pain.

“Mrs Wynter, you should step away from the bed.” I heard the door to the ward open as the doctor rushed in.

“She's in pain. She's —”

“Mrs Wynter, your daughter is blooming and her wolf is currently on rampage. She could mean serious harm to you.” The doctor continued as one of the nurses filled a syringe with…I have no idea what but I hope to the moon that it cures my daughter.

“That's none of my business. She's my daughter! And you're telling to stay away from her? You should be treating her!” I screamed.

In about a few seconds, Hazel finally went still, her chest rising and falling slowly.

“We sedated her for the time being but we can't keep doing that. You need to make a decision with your husband, Mrs Wynter. The only reasonable choice is cutting off her wolf permanently.” I backtracked, horror visible in my face.

“She'll be wolfless.” I whispered.

“Yes. But she'll be alive.”

I sank into the chair beside the bed, my hands shaking too hard to hold the ice chips I'd meant to bring.

“Please take it easy on yourself, Mrs Wynter. Besides, your husband is meant to be here. We'll be back in a few hours to check her vitals and how she's doing.”

There was a steady ring in my head that I couldn't lift my head up to watch the doctor's retreating figure.

Right now, it was just me, my sedated child and awkward silence.

My phone suddenly began buzzing.

I swear, if it is anything that has to do with business or pack matters, I could kill someone.

I slowly reached out and grabbed my phone, staring at the Caller ID for a second.

Silas.

My husband.

My stomach twisted at this disgusting cheat brave enough to even call my phone, but I answered anyway.

Anything.

I'd take anything right now.

Even a cheating husband as long as she was well.

“Silas.” I said slowly, trying to sound as collected as I could.

“i just got home and you're not here. Where are you? Have you forgotten you are my Luna and you should be able to—”

“Silas! Are you out of your mind?? Our daughter is hospitalized and you ask where I am? Silas. Your daughter is dying, I should be asking you where the fuck you are.” I yelled, letting my anger bleed into every word that left my mouth.

There was silence.

Awkward silence like he was trying to piece everything together in his head.

“Oh. How is she?” He asked, his voice dropping pitch.

“She's worse, Silas. The doctor says they might have to cut off her wolf and—”

“Now you're just exaggerating it because I asked Wynter. I know exactly what it is, she's blooming way too early but that is just it. Don't make it something it's not.”

I felt a lump in my throat.

If he was close to me, I could picture exactly what I could do to me.

A glass bottle being struck at the back of his head wouldn't mean much.

"Please, Silas.” I interrupted before he could continue, "the specialist said there's a procedure, but I need your cons—”

“Now she's just trying to gain your pity, Silas. You should just tell her.” The words died on my throat as I heard a tiny high pitched voice from the background.

Everything about the voice screamed “Green Tea.”

“Umm, sure baby.”

Baby.

Calling another woman baby while on a call with your wife!

“Silas, are you—”

“I want a divorce.”
