LOGINMelina's POV
I gasped as my eyes flew open, my heart hammering wildly against my ribs. Slowly I pushed myself up, sweat was covering my forehead. I was having the same traumatic nightmare that's been haunting me for three years. It comes more frequently whenever something or someone triggers me. And nothing triggered it worse than that Asshole werewolf king. My skin crawled just thinking of him. His cruel words earlier tonight still echoed in my head. “My mating ceremony with Melina will be held within the next three months.” I hugged my chest trying to steady my breathing, when my Mom burst into my room. “Melina, sweetheart! Are you okay? I heard screaming,” Mom asked, concerned. She wrapped her arms around me and pulled me to her chest, stroking my hair gently. “The usual nightmare,” I whispered, my voice hoarse. Mom gently kissed my forehead, holding me closer, “It's okay, my love. It was just a dream. You're safe now.” I closed my eyes, leaning into my mother's warmth, but fear still gripped me. “Mom…I don't even know how I'm going to spend my life with that man. You know how I interact with men. They terrify me….especially him.” Mom pulled back slightly, cupping my face gently. “Melina, baby… if you truly don't want him. I will tell his mother myself. We won't force you into this.” “No! Please don't. I can't put you and Dad in trouble with the Queen. I won't risk our family like that.” “I regret the day I asked you to go with me to that charity event. If you hadn't come, Eleanor would never have seen you…and she wouldn't have chosen you for her son,” Mom said, her voice heavy with guilt. “It's okay, Mom, I'm not that weak. I may have lost my wolf and suffered from that trauma but I'm still capable of defending myself. I've trained hard these years. I'm a skilled warrior now. Don't worry me,” I reassured her. Mom's eyes softened with pride, she brushed a hair strand from my face, and smiled warmly. “I know, my daughter is a brave woman.” We sat in silence for a moment. “Mom… King Azrik said something strange earlier tonight. He called me Selene. He accused me of pretending to be someone else. He seemed so angry at this Selene…Do you think I could have been her? Three years ago…..before the accident?” Mom's eyebrows frowned. “I don't believe he was connected to you sweetheart. The accident happened near a hotel in the Human city. You were brought to my hospital barely alive, every bone in your body broken. It was a miracle you survived. You have no ID, no belongings, and no one came looking for you.” She took my hand and squeezed gently. “ When you finally woke up, you had no memories at all. Your Psychologist said it was your mind’s way of protecting you from something truly traumatic. The memories might return one day…or they may never come back. So we took you in. we adopted you, and gave you a new life as Melina.” “I really want to remember who I was. But it's been three years, and nothing has come back,” I whispered, my chest tightening. “Don't force it, darling. The doctor warned that pushing too hard could do more harm. Let the memories return come naturally,” Mom replied softly, kissing the top of my head. I nodded silently. “I love you, Mom.” Mom smiled warmly. “I love you too, baby. You were the best thing that happened to me.” She leaned in and kissed my cheek tenderly. “I will let you rest now. Goodnight, sweetheart.” “Good night, Mom.” Once the door clicked shut behind her, I curled under the covers. I closed my eyes, desperate for sleep to claim me…but it never came. The face of King Azrik hunted me instead. Every time I tried to drift off, his intense gaze and deep angry voice echoed in my mind. My heart clenched in fear. No matter how hard I tried to be strong, I had to admit it. He terrified me. And deep inside I know that this is just the beginning. Alpha Azrik's POV “Mother, you never mentioned that your friend Emma had a daughter before,” I said casually as I poured myself a glass of whiskey. Mother said, while flipping through her magazine. “Because I didn't know myself until recently. Emma and I were best friends growing up. I was the Alpha's daughter and she was the Beta's. We were practically inseparable. But we went our separate ways when I was mated with your father at the age of eighteen and she left my father's pack when she mated with Alpha Oliver of the Dark Shadow Pack. She became a surgeon and even opened her own hospital in the human city.” Mother placed down her magazine on the table and looked up at me. I coincidentally ran into her at a charity gala a few months ago…and that's when I met Melina for the first time.” I took a sip of my whisky. “What made you think she would be a suitable Luna Queen when she doesn't even have a wolf? I didn’t sense one in her. Besides, do you think the kingdom and the council will accept her?” I asked sharply. Asshole! Don't talk about our mate like that. Zayden snarled furiously in the back of my mind. I simply blocked him out. “They will like her, Azrik. She is beautiful, intelligent, well-mannered, a highly skilled warrior and she comes from a noble family. Those qualities matter more than you think. The kingdom and the council will see her value, just as your father and I do.” She said firmly. Mother paused for a second then her expression hardened. “Azrik,” she said, her voice low and commanding. “ I know you don't like her. I know you feel forced into accepting her as your chosen mate. But the moment she becomes your Luna Queen. It will be your duty to defend her against everyone, from the kingdom or the council. You will be protected from any threat. And you will never think of hurting her. Do I make myself clear?” “Yeah. Yeah,” I muttered, waving my hand dismissively. Mother gave me another long doubtful glare, her eyes narrowing slightly but she didn’t say anything more. Instead, she rose gracefully from the couch. “I'm going to sleep. Goodnight Azrik.” “Goodnight, Mom,” I stood and kissed her cheek, respectfully. Once she left the room. I sank back into my chair and took a sip from my whisky, and my mind drifted to that morning three years ago. The morning after rejecting Selene. I needed answers. How the hell did my broken, rejected stripper mate, the girl I left in that hotel room, reappear in my life as Melina Kingsley, the elegant daughter of a respected Alpha and a renowned surgeon? Something wasn't adding up. And I was going to find out exactly what happened in the years I had tried to forget her.Alpha Azrik's POV I was drying my damp hair when Selene burst into my chambers without knocking.“What the hell?” I snarled. She stepped toward me, unfazed, and stopped in front of me, crossing her arms over her chest.“Is there something going on between you and Serena?”I tossed the towel on the floor. Then in one swift movement, I seized her by the throat, my fingers wrapping around her neck, not enough to choke her. But enough to remind her exactly who she was dealing with. Her breath caught, yet she refused to look away. “You're getting bolder.” I growled, “Listen carefully. I don't care whether you win this challenge or become the queen. That does not give you the right to question me or disrespect me.”I tightened my grip slightly, letting the warning sink in. “I'm your king. Never forget that.”My eyes locked onto hers, cold and merciless. “And if you storm into my chambers demanding an answer again, I won't hesitate a second to snap your neck. Am I clear?”Azrik! Have you l
Melina's POV I stood on the Arena ground facing the she- wolf called Serena. She smirked at me, her lips curling with a cruel, evil smile. At that moment, everything clicked. I finally understood what she had been doing the previous day in Azrik’s office. He had chosen her to be my opponent. But I cannot understand the reason behind this woman's hostility toward me.The judge raised his hand and gave the signal to start.Serena didn’t waste a second. She lunged at me with terrifying speed, her claws extended with a snarl ripping from her throat. But I was ready for her. I sidestepped her wild swing at the last second. My fist drove hard into her ribs, she gasped and staggered, but she recovered fast, then she spun and threw a vicious hook aimed at my jaw.I ducked under it and countered with an uppercut that snapped her head back. The crowd roared. Adrenaline surged through me, hot and sharp. She was stronger, but I was faster and more disciplined; every punch I landed chipped away
Alpha Azrik's POV I watched from the royal platform as Selene emerged from the treeline, dragging the boar behind her. She looked utterly worn-out, head to toe in mud and sweat, her clothes torn in places, her breathing laboured. Yet there was a fierce, determined fire in her eyes that refused to dim. A triumphant smile touched her lips when the judge declared her victory in the first trial. Then her gaze lifted and locked directly onto mine. A diffident little smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth, as if she were saying. You lost. I won. Our mate is not only beautiful but also smart, courageous, and strong even without a wolf. Zayden purred with deep satisfaction. I clenched my jaw, struggling to contain the rage blazing in my chest. She had actually done it. That weak wolfless omega I had chosen, the hardest possible prey for her, completed the hunt. And she had brought the beast down alive using nothing but a rope and a knife. This wasn't supposed to happen. Yet she sto
Melina's POV I finished pulling on my top and leggings. Then headed straight to the gym. The trials begin tomorrow, and I need every spare minute to prepare. There were about five trails: The hunt. The Arena. Alpha commend. The sacred cave, and finally, the crowd's choice. He deliberately chose a werewolf physical strength test for me, knowing it was my weakest area. He expected me to fail. But he would be disappointed eventually. The moment I stepped into the gym, a tall, powerfully built man turned toward me. He bowed his head respectfully.“Your Royal Highness. I'm Gamma Chase. I will be assisting with your training today.” I smiled softly. “Hello, Chase. It's nice to meet you.” “Shall we begin, Your Royal Highness?” he asked politely.“Yes,” I replied. We started with cardio to warm up, then moved into fighting techniques and attack tactics. Chase was patient but thorough, correcting my stance and demonstrating how to counter a larger opponent's strength. His hands were firm
Alpha Azrik's POV I groaned in frustration, my throat throbbing from Zayden's nagging. I tried to block him out, but the bastard managed to break through the barrier anyway. He was furious about the tests. With a sharp sigh, I slammed my laptop shut and stood up. There's no way I could work with that raging animal pacing around inside my head.I left my office and headed toward the garden, hoping the fresh air would clear my mind. The moment I stepped outside, I spotted Selene talking to Blaze. What the fuck is he doing with our mate?Zayden roared in my mind, jealousy lacing his voice.I rolled my eyes and ignored him as I walked toward them.“Blaze,” I called, my Alpha aura rising instantly.“Your Highness..” He turned to me immediately.“Leave.” He bowed his head respectfully before walking past me.When he was out of sight, I turned to Selene.“What were you doing with my Beta?” “It's none of your business,” she shot back, taking a step away.Anger flared inside me. I grabbe
Melina's POV “Your hair is beautiful, My Queen,” Ella said softly, her voice carrying that familiar shy lilt. “Thank you, Ella, ” I said, with a genuine smile. I had only moved into the palace two days ago, yet they had already assigned a personal maid for me. I still found the whole thing ridiculous; we weren't living in some ancient monarchy, but it seems to be protocol. Ella was an omega shewolf, a sweet and shy girl. At least there's someone I can talk to. I'm already feeling alone in this big place. I miss Mom and Dad terribly. “I'm finished, my queen,” she announced, stepping back to admire her work. I stared at my reflection in the mirror. They really expected me to dress up for every meal. A quiet sigh escaped me. A soft knock sounded on the door. Another maid slipped inside and bowed her head. “Your highness, the family is waiting for you in the dining room.” ‘Thank you, I will be right down,” I said gently. I turned to Ella. “You can go.” She nodded an
Alpha Azrik's POV-Three years later-I adjusted my tie in the mirror. After years of relentless pressure, I had finally given in to my parents' demands to get a mate and have an heir to the throne.Tonight was the unofficial engagement dinner. My mother had chosen her. Melina is the daughter of he
Trigger Warming: This chapter contains a scene of sexual assault that may be distressing for some readers.Selene's POVMy eyes slowly fluttered open, a soft sleepy smile spreading across my lips.I had the most beautiful dream. I finally found my mate…and he saved me from Lance.“It's not a dream,
My smile vanished instantly. The warmth I had seen in his eyes last night was gone, replaced by a distant, cold stare.“Let's get this over with,” he said.“What do you mean,” I whispered, my voice already breaking.“I can't accept a mate like you, I'm an Alpha. I cannot have a weak omega stripper
Alpha Azrik's Pov “Your highness, someone's called saying Prince Ryker is drunk and started a fight at some club in the human world,” my Beta, Blaze, mind-linked me. “Not again!” I groaned, pinching the bridge of my nose. “Where the hell is his bodyguard?” I asked, initiation lacing my voice.
