Kaelor POV:

She was touching me.

Her fingers were careful and professional. Steady like a healer's hands should be.

Yet every brush of her fingertips across my shoulder felt more dangerous than any battlefield I'd ever crossed. The lightest graze sent heat racing through my veins. My body reacted to her nearness in ways I couldn't control.

"Hold still." She scolded softly.

I swallowed hard, trying to keep my breathing even. "I am."

"No, you're flinching every time I press here."

Kimberly’s POV Hospital checkups are one of the things that I hated the most. I’m used to the routine but I still did not like it one bit. It made me feel sick. Including the smell of the hospital but there was nothing I could do about it. It’s about my health and how to keep my body in shape at least for now. “You’re doing very well Kimberly.” The doctor I was sitting in front of said and I stared at him for a while. He looked surprised himself because usually, there was always something happening in my body that was not supposed to happen. They would have to up or drop some of my medications. Or ask me not to take any meds for a while to allow something to take its course in my body. So, hearing him say that I was in a good condition was a first for me. “Are you sure about what you are saying?” I asked him so as not to get ahead of myself and he nodded, beaming. “Your blood count is a little above average which is very good and your heart seems to be in the fairest condition i

London’s POVFor a second there I thought she had ditched and tucked her tail between her legs. But then, if there was one thing I knew about Kimberly was that she would never back down. I think that was one of the reasons I was attracted to her in the first place. Apart from the fact that she was Julian’s girl. This is going to be an easy pie for me. I’ve raced with the best people in the country and I came out on top. Races that had big money and bets on top of them. This was just a matter of pride. I knew she had nothing on me. But I could not help but wonder what made her so confident about wanting to race with me. From what I’m sure she’s heard about me, she should have pulled out in fear. But she did not. It was like she was challenging me in her own way and that made me madder. It irritated me to no end. In London Ashford. No one, and I mean no one steps on my toes. Well, except for Sandy. Thinking back on her made me angry and I was almost seeing red thinking about her.

Kimberly’s POV “Are you sure you’re okay now?” Mum asked me again, and I rolled my eyes gently. “I’ve never been better, Mum. I can go to school myself.” “I did not say you can’t go. But the fact that you want to ride that bike is what is worrying me again. I don’t like seeing you on that thing.” She said the last part with disdain, and I scoffed. “Come on now. You should have gotten used to seeing me on my bike by now.” I said to her, She’s always had this jeer against my bike. When I was rebellious, I made sure to get her father to get off my bike. And they somehow got used to me riding it. “Well, forgive me if I have not gotten used to it. The thing is the devil’s spawn. I can always take you to school.” She said it sincerely, even though I know she did not really mean it, since she was busy as hell. “I know you can’t. You’re busy with work. And speaking of work hours, do you guys have something you want to talk to me about?” I asked them again, and I saw the way she froze.

Kimberly’s POV Okay. This has to be the last time I would wake up after a bad encounter. I groaned as I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar environment. Then I started to feel like I’d been here before now. Before I could put my hands on the familiarity, the door opened, and Julian walked in like he owned the place. His place. I sat up on the bed and pushed back into the edge of the bed. My eyes betrayed nothing. And I was glad that I felt better than I was thinking. The encounter with Amelia flashed in the front of my mind, and I felt creeps and cold rush through my body. “What am I doing here?” I asked him coldly, swinging my legs to the side of the bed. “Calm down.” His deep voice cut through to me as he stood in front of me; he was so close that I could smell his body musk. I suddenly felt heady, but I stood my ground. I looked everywhere but at him. Well, if the ground was that interesting. “Get out of the way. I need to leave.” My voice came out more gruff than intended. “Th
