CHAPTER 6: The Brick Between Us

The fresh white petal was more terrifying than the scorched rose had been. It meant someone had been inside my room. The locks and the height of the penthouse meant nothing to them. I felt a sudden prickly sensation on the back of my head.

I looked around, expecting a shadow in the corner or a figure by the curtains. There was no one.

Without Adrian or Ronan there, the silence became a threat. I grabbed my phone and rushed out of the room, my heart hammering. It was ridiculous to feel hunted in a fortress like this, yet the air felt thin.

I scrambled down the stairs, my eyes darting around. My thumb hovered over Ronan's contact. Before I could think, my hand dialed Adrian's number instead. He picked up on the first ring.

"Nirvana." His voice was sharp and alert.

"Please come," I choked out. My voice trembled so violently I had to grip the phone with both hands. I was shivering, a cold chill tagtbhad nothing to do with the temperature of the room.

"Nirvana, talk to me. What is it?" I heard the sudden roar of his engine in the background. He was already moving.

I couldn't answer. I stood in the middle of the living room, eyes scanning the glass walls.

But then, a sudden crash split the air.

I screamed, nearly dropping the phone.

A ceramic vase had fallen from the side table, shattering on the concrete floor. There was no wind. No one near it. It had just fallen.

I burst into tears.

"Nirvana! What was that?"

I couldn't speak. I just stood there, my mind spinning with the image of that nine year old girl pinned under her mother's weight.

The moment I heard his bike outside I bolted for the door, threw it open and ran. I didn't stop until I collided with his chest. He pulled me into his arms instantly. I buried my face in his vest, sobbing, as he held me so tight I could barely breathe.

He guided me back inside, his arm around my shoulders, his hand resting on his waistband as he checked the corners. He scanned the room with his hand resting on his waist.

"Did anyone enter? Did you see anyone?"

I shook my head. I couldn't say a word, I just held onto his waist. I didn't care about the rejection. I didn't care about the mistake. I just needed him there.

He rested his hand on my head, his fingers smoothing through my hair.

After a few minutes the adrenaline died down, leaving me hollow and exhausted. I tried to step away but Adrian pulled me back, tucking me against his chest.

"You called me here," he whispered. "Where do you think you're going now?"

I didn't have an answer. I just leaned into him.

We were still standing like that when the front door swung open and Ronan rushed in, his face right with alarm.

"Nirvana!"

Adrian and I pulled apart instantly. I rushed into Ronan's arms and he held me, looking over my shoulder at Adrian. They didn't speak but something passed between them.

"She can't stay here, Ronan," Adrian said. It wasn't a suggestion but a fact.

Ronan nodded. "I know."

They didn't argue. Adrian just followed us out.

The ride was a blur. I sat behind Ronan as city lights streaked past us, leaving Manhattan behind for something quieter.

We pulled up to a stone brownstone that felt more like a fortress than the penthouse ever did. Sturdy, old-world, ivy on the walls and oak doors. It looked more than a townhouse than a manor.

Ronan led me to a room on the second floor, smaller and warmer than anything at the penthouse.

"You're safe here," he said, kissing my temple. "Rest now, Nir."

As he turned to leave I reached out and caught Adrian's hand. He had been standing in the doorway with that unreadable expression.

"Stay with me," I whispered.

Ronan gave Adrian a hard warning look. Adrian ignored it completely. He walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. As my eyes drifted shut, the last thing I felt was his palm brushing my hair away from my forehead.

When I woke up the spot beside me was cold. Adrian was gone. The clock read 6:00 AM.

Monday.

I sprang out of bed. First class at 8:00 AM. I wasn't going to let whoever sent that petal win.

Ronan knocked and came in with coffee, looking like he hadn't slept. "Don't you think you should rest today, Nir? After last night."

"No." He saw it in my eyes and didn't push further. He just sighed and stepped out.

I washed my face and pulled my hair into a high ponytail. I kept my makeup simple. Black rib-knit midi dress, a blue jacket and sneakers.

I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the girl staring back. She looked like someone who could handle New York.

The ride to campus was quiet. Ronan dropped me at the gates and reminded me to stay on campus until noon. I watched him ride away, then turned toward the red brick buildings and paved courtyards of Rodrigo University.

I pulled out my map looking for Hall B.

"Looking for the art wing?"

A guy stood a few feet away, thick rimmed glasses sliding down his nose, an oversized sweater and his arms full of textbooks. His smile was kind.

"I'm Leo. First year?"

"Nirvana. Yeah, first day."

We walked together across the quad and he talked enough for both of us, coffee spots and which professors were soul crushers. I just listened, grateful for the normal conversation. It felt like a shield against everything that happened the night before.

"Here we are," Leo said, gesturing to a large brick building with wide double doors. "Most of the humanities lectures are here. What's your first class?"

"History of Aesthetics," I said.

"Oh, tough one. The professor is supposedly a legend, but he's a bit of a mystery. See you around, Nirvana."

I thanked Leo and watched him walk away. I smoothed my dress, took a breath and pushed the double doors open.

The hall was vast and already silent. Polished wooden desks, tiered rows and every seat was filled..

A man in a charcoal grey suit stood behind the lectern, mid-sentence. His deep voice was commanding and familiar in a way that stopped me cold.

He paused the same time I halted.

I looked up and my breath left my body.

Adrian.

He stood at the podium looking every inch the untouchable professor, nothing like the man who had brushed my hair from my forehead just hours ago. For a second the hundred students around me disappeared entirely.

He didn't blink. Didn't offer a single sign of recognition. His eyes just narrowed slowly.

"Is there something particularly fascinating about my face, Miss?" His voice was sharp and deliberate, carrying across the hall.

"Since you've decided to spend your arrival gawking at me while I'm in the middle of a lecture. If you're finished disturbing my class with your daydreaming, have a seat. Some of us are actually here to work."

A few students snickered.

Heat rushed to my cheeks. I ducked my head and scrambled to find an empty seat, my legs feeling like lead.

I sat down and stared at my blank notebook, jaw tight, chest burning.

He had built a wall between us right there in front of a hundred people. But I was not going to fall apart in a lecture hall.

NIRVANA'S POVThe kiss was a slow, punishing burn. He parted my lips, sliding his tongue into my mouth to claim the space as his own. He tasted of sharp mint and dark desire. I twisted my trembling fingers into his messy hair, pulling his face closer. I kissed him back with a starving hunger. I wanted to forget Sienna’s cruel taunts. I wanted to forget the terrifying stalker hunting me in the shadows. I just wanted the heat of his skin pressed against mine.Adrian kissed his way down my jawline. He dragged his open mouth down my neck, sucking a dark mark right above my collarbone. I arched my back off the soft mattress, offering him more.He moved lower, his chest hair brushing against my sensitive skin. He kissed the center of my chest before taking my aching nipple into his hot mouth. He sucked firmly, his teeth grazing the peak. A sharp jolt of pleasure shot straight to my core. I gripped his broad shoulders, my nails digging deep into his tattooed skin.He reached down blindly

NIRVANA'S POVI lay on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. The unseen stalker had been quiet for three days. No cryptic notes left in my personal spaces. No silent phone calls echoing in the middle of the night. No lingering shadows outside my window. But the sudden absence of the threat was somehow worse than the harassment itself. The silence made me paranoid. It felt like standing on a beach, watching the ocean pull back for miles, knowing a tidal wave was coming. I kept waiting with bated breath for the stalker to strike. Every creak of the floorboards, every gust of wind against the glass, sent a spike of adrenaline straight through my veins.Ronan was gone for the night. He had stood in my doorway with an unreadable mask of hardened authority, muttered something about crucial business, and left the quiet house hours ago.I was entirely alone in the manor. I pulled the heavy blankets tightly up to my chin, trying to ease the cold, nervous tension twisting in my stomach. But I coul

  • SEDUCING MY BIKER PROFESSOR    CHAPTER 45: Paying For It

Leo's POVFor a second he didn't move at all.His whole body went rigid against mine and I felt it immediately. That specific kind of stillness that comes right before someone pulls away. My stomach dropped. I had miscalculated. I had pushed too far and now he was going to grab me by the collar and remind me exactly whose house I was standing in.Then something in him broke. The sound he made was low and rough and I felt it in my chest before I processed it with my ears. His hands found my waist and he slammed me back into the marble counter so fast the air left my lungs in one hard exhale. My spine hit the cold edge and before I could recover, he was kissing me back, and there was nothing gentle about it. It was the kind of kiss that felt like something being released after being held under pressure for too long.He kissed me like he was angry about it. Like wanting me was something that had been costing him and he was finally done paying quietly.I let go of his jacket and wrapped

  • SEDUCING MY BIKER PROFESSOR    CHAPTER 44: The Confrontation

LEO'S POV The engine clicked quietly as it cooled in the crisp air. I stared through the windshield at the imposing, fortress-like townhouse. I was parked in the paved driveway. I sat silently behind the steering wheel. I had a perfectly good, logical excuse to be here. I mean, I was being a good friend. I was checking on my best friend. Alright? Nirvana has been dealing with stress lately. Between the art showcase preparations, her demanding classes and whatever unspoken tension was making her look like a ghost, she needed an escape. I had texted her earlier and told her I would come over so we could drive to the library together. It was a normal, innocent reason to walk up the steps and knock on that front door. But I was lying to myself. I was not here just for Nirvana. I could not get Ronan out of my head. Ever since the morning on the campus compound, my brain had been stuck in a chaotic, obsessive loop. I could not stop thinking about the way he looked at me across th

  • SEDUCING MY BIKER PROFESSOR    CHAPTER 43: Absolutely Everything

ADRIAN'S POV The kiss was aggressively dominant, rough, and desperately deep. I needed to consume her. She whimpered softly into my hungry mouth. Her delicate fingers instantly dug into my dark hair, pulling my head much closer. She kissed me back with the exact same starving, animalistic hunger. I tore my mouth away from her swollen lips, panting for air. I kissed her sharp jawline. I dragged my teeth down the sensitive column of her neck, sucking hard against her racing pulse point to leave a visible mark. Nirvana let out a breathless moan. She arched her back beautifully, pressing her soft breasts forward against my solid torso. Her hands moved frantically down her own body. Her fingers touched the delicate top of her dress, desperately trying to pull the thin fabric down to expose herself to me. She wanted me to look at her. She wanted me to touch her bare skin. And so I happily helped her. I grabbed the fabric and ripped the top of her dress down, exposing her bare, heavy b

  • SEDUCING MY BIKER PROFESSOR    CHAPTER 42: The Breaking Point

ADRIAN'S POV I had stayed away from the manor all night long. I simply could not face her. I could not look into her beautiful brown eyes after leaving her alone in that empty classroom. The guilt was eating me from the inside out. She was terrified of the stalker and I had just walked away to handle club business. I chose my duty over her safety. It tasted like ash in my mouth. I had gone straight to the club instead of going home. I needed the familiar violence. That was how I pulled up at the warehouse. I hoped the loud atmosphere of the club would calm my frayed nerves. I needed the distraction of my dark world. But stepping inside had only made my blood boil hotter. I walked fast toward the staircase leading to my office. Iris followed me immediately, his boots echoing on the steps right behind my own. "Adrian," Iris called out, his tone cautious. I turned around the exact second we reached the top landing. I grabbed him roughly by the leather of his cut and shoved him bac

I watched from the window as Adrian's bike wove through the New York traffic, becoming a smaller and smaller speck until he vanished around a corner. Adrian's hands were large and hot, anchoring me against the glass door while he kissed me like he was trying to swallow my breath. I let out a low moan against his lips. Every part of me felt wired and sensitive. The calloused texture of his palms against my waist sent a jolt through my spine that

  • SEDUCING MY BIKER PROFESSOR    CHAPTER 3: Straight Into Lies

The penthouse was exactly how I expected a billionaire's place to look. All glass and stone, polished grey floors, matte white walls. After all the noise in New Orleans, the silence here felt expensive. Ronan dropped my bags by the door and looked around, his shoulders dropping an inch. "It's yo

  • SEDUCING MY BIKER PROFESSOR    CHAPTER 2: Straight Into Chaos

My heart wouldn’t stop thumping against my ribs. It was a fast, erratic rhythm that made my chest ache. I stared at the photo on my laptop screen until my eyes burned. It looked like a crime scene. I looked at the window. It was pitch black outside. It couldn't be real. Adrian was in New York. We h
