Lucian’s POV.

My hand tightened around Lena’s arm, and my fingers dug into her skin. She jerked against my grip.

She hated when I did that, holding her just firmly enough to remind her that even blood answered to the Alpha.

“Get your filthy hands off me,” she snapped. “I’m not one of your slaves.”

I smiled faintly. “No, you’re my sister. Which makes your disobedience far more disappointing.”

“Let go of me,” Lena said again, trying to wrench her arm free.

I did not release her. Instead, I tightened my grip slightly. She hissed under her breath.

“You’re becoming reckless,” I said calmly. “And reckless wolves rarely live long.”

Lena gave a bitter laugh. “Reckless? You blinded yourself with your own stupidity. Maybe you should start there.”

My fingers dug deeper into her arm. “I wouldn’t hesitate to kill you.”

I heard the mockery in her voice. “You’d have to find me first. And the last time I checked, you can’t even see.”

“You still think blindness makes me weak,” I said.

“You’ve never understood anything beyond your own anger, the way you barrel through life, using intimidation and violence as if they were the only tools in existence. As if your rage could replace your sight.”

I could feel her hatred and amusement as she leaned just slightly forward, daring me to do more than threaten, to test the limits of my restraint.

“You may not see the world as it is, Lucian, but do not presume that I fear you, or that your absence of sight diminishes your danger; I know exactly who and what you are, and perhaps that is why I refuse to yield.

“Why I refuse to let your anger dictate the terms of everything, because someone has to remember that there are rules even for monsters, even for alphas who think the world bends to their claws and teeth.”

“So right now, I'm telling you right to your face. I'm not taking part in your silly little game.”

Her words were sharp, venomous, and laced with courage that could have broken lesser men. But I was no lesser man. I let her rant.

“You speak of rules…” I said finally, “…but rules are made for those who fear the consequences. You do not fear, do you? You think I cannot act simply because you're my sister?”

Her breath hitched slightly. “I do not bend to monsters,” she said, voice trembling in anger, “even if they share my blood. I do not yield to tyrants. Not you. Not anyone who mistakes fear for respect.”

I didn’t answer. Instead, I allowed my fingers to press just a little harder. “Perhaps I will see how long your courage lasts before the pain teaches you obedience.”

“And if I refuse? What then, Lucian? Will you kill me here?”

I released my grip just enough to draw the long blade from its sheath. The tip of the sword was just an inch from Lena’s throat. “Yes. I will kill you right here.”

Lena’s eyes flicked to the blade, a flash of real fear breaking through her usual defiance, but she squared her shoulders, jaw tight. “Do it. I dare you, Lucian.”

Before I could answer, a small shift of movement sounded behind Lena. Poor girl.

“She followed you.”

“What?”

“Ah, Avery,” I said, catching her scent, “I scented you the moment you entered. If you intend to listen, you might as well step forward.”

A pause. Then soft footsteps. She emerged slowly. I could feel the hesitation in each movement.

“Leave her alone. Please, I beg you,” Avery said.

Her voice trembled, but she said it anyway. Lena couldn't speak. I kept the sword just an inch from her throat.

Avery swallowed audibly, and I could sense her struggle to keep her composure.

“Do you see?” I murmured, letting the metallic taste of fear hang between us. “Disobedience carries its price.”

Avery’s eyes widened in horror, tears brimming. “You… you’re really going to kill your own sister? You’re a bloody monster, a…” she faltered, searching for words that could match the horror, “…a fiend, a madman!”

“Yes. I am all of that, if that is what it takes. She defiles the blood she shares with me. She dares to challenge the order I embody. I don't tolerate disrespect.”

Her pleading grew more urgent, desperation twisting her voice into a strangled, fragile thing. “No, no, Lucian, please! She is your sister! She means nothing but loyalty! You cannot do this!

“The only way I shall forgive her, the only way I shall allow her to live and breathe another day without the weight of my wrath upon her, is if you—”

I let the silence stretch. Let her hope fill it. Hope was always the cruelest thing to offer someone before you took it away. "…agree to lie with me.”

I pressed the tip of the sword slightly harder, on Lena’s neck, enough to draw blood.

“You would demand that?”

“Yes. Only then will she be spared. You hold her fate in your hands, Avery. Choose wisely.”

Her scent shifted from determination to panic, her heartbeat getting faster. “I… I… I cannot.”

“Then watch her die.” I lifted the sword, angling it toward her neck as if to behead her.

Then, a small, desperate voice broke the tension. “Stop. I will do it! I will lie with you!”

I lowered the sword, the steel sliding away from Lena’s throat but leaving the faint red mark as a reminder.

“You understand what you’ve promised?” I murmured, letting the danger hang heavy in the room.

“Yes I do. I will be in your bed tonight.”

Lucian’s POV I didn’t need eyes to see the room. I could feel the heat radiating off the bodies and could track the exact position of every wolf by their unique scent.I sensed the shift in her movement as she pulled away from me and moved towards Lena. My grip on the cane tightened at the thought of her breaking my rules after I had just saved her.But I made no move to stop her. Didn't want to seem like a possessive piece of shit.“Look at that,” a voice drifted through the music. A whisper from the edge of the circle. It was Raith. I recognized his voice immediately. His voice had always been too loud.“The great Alpha can't even control his prisoner.”Even as he spoke, I noticed it. Avery’s breathing— gone. There was no trace of her in the air anymore.A moment ago, I could feel her there. Her uneven breath, the faint warmth of her body cutting through the space between us.Now nothing. Just open air and the noise of the crowd. My grip on the cane tightened slightly.Lena.Her s

Avery's POVElira dropped to her knees. The sound of her expensive gown hitting the stone floor was almost as loud as the first shard of glass clinking into her palm. She didn't look at the mess; she kept her eyes fixed on Lucian’s boots. A flush of humiliation crept across her face. The surrounding guests—betas, high-ranking wolves, and their mates didn't dare interrupt. They watched the humiliation in silence. As she reached for a jagged piece near my foot, her eyes flickered up to mine for a split second. There was no feeling of remorse, just a silent vow that whatever she suffered now, I would pay tenfold later.“Take the glass to the kitchen,” Lucian said. “And find a wrap for your hands. You won’t want to get infected.”Elira scrambled up and hurried toward the door. Lucian didn’t track her footsteps as she left. Instead, his attention shifted to the crowd, his hand tightening on his cane.“The moon is at its peak,” he announced, his voice echoing over the hall. “Do not let a b

Avery's POV.The hall was a 6,500 sq. ft. pillarless space with luxurious decor. The people arrived in a dozen, each wearing a new dress that would probably be discarded after the night was past.In the sky, the moon provided natural lighting into the hall, which held the event.Greetings were exchanged between packs. A sweet melody was drifting through the busy atmosphere. A heavy, intoxicating scent of alphas and powerful wolves hung in the air.I moved through the crowd like a ghost, the tray of glasses weighing down my trembling arms. My maid's uniform felt like a shroud, but the collar was what everyone saw. Then I saw them.At the far end of the long table of the Silver-Ridge Pack sat Aurelia and Elira, my sister Zara’s closest friends. We had never gotten along. And I knew, the moment our eyes met, they would try to humiliate me.Elira was dressed in a white flowing elegant gown with subtle jewelry and neatly styled hair. She was sipping wine and smiling at Aurelia.I tried to

Avery's POVThe collar irritated my skin. I could feel the prickly edges against my chin.Lucian looked at me with the eyes of a man who had finally found a cage strong enough for his most troublesome bird.“Go back to the kitchen,” he commanded, his voice vibrating through the metal against my throat.“Scrub the blood from your skin if you must, but don't you dare try to take off the collar.”I pushed myself up and managed a shaky step as I headed for the door when his voice stopped me.“One last thing. Don't be late for the preparations tomorrow. It's the lunar festival, and the Silver-Ridge pack will be here. The word made my heart pause for a second. Silver-Ridge. My former pack. The ones who cast us out. I turned to face him swiftly.“Silver-Ridge?” I repeated, unable to hide the bitterness in my voice. “What do they want here?”Lucian didn’t hesitate to answer me. “You'll find out tomorrow.I bit down on my lips so hard that I tasted blood. Avery's POV I knocked his hand away. “Punish me? You have already done your worst. What's left?”A brief chuckle escaped him, his eyes locked on mine like magnets. “What's left? Everything that breaks you slowly.”“You're a murderer,” I shouted even though my voice broke. I don't know where the strength came from. Maybe it was from fear, anger, or the sight of that lifeless body, but I said it anyway.“The moon goddess will punish you for this. You don't get to take another wolf's life like that.”His face twisted into something between a sneer and a smirk. “I can kill you right now, and it wouldn't make a difference to me. That man down there…” he paused. “...wasn't a wolf. He was a traitor.”My breath hitched “He broke the pack's law,” he continued. “He knew the cost.” His voice turned cold and low. “To every action, there's a consequence with a price.”“That is why your father sold you. To clear his debts.” He paused, letting the words sink in. "You were his payment, just as dea

Just give me a chance. Let me fuck you to stupor.”“I want you to choke on my cock, and then spread you wide with my fist.”I struggled against him, twisting hard, but his hold didn’t budge. Rage burned hotter than the fear crawling up my spine.“Don’t make a sound,” Raith breathed, tilting his head, his gaze sweeping over me like I was prey.“You’re insane!” I spat, the words muffled under his hand.A low chuckle left him.“You think I care?” Raith growled. “You’re already his.
