Nyra could not move.

The assassin’s final words echoed through the hallway.

“Someone inside this castle… hired us.”

His head fell to one side and his body became still.

Silence covered the hallway, every guard looked at one another, every servant standing nearby lowered their eyes.

Cassian slowly stood and his face became darker than anyone had ever seen.

“No one leaves this palace.”

His voice was calm and that frightened everyone even more.

“Lock every gate.”
