NATASHA'S POV

Layla's car was packed outside my house two weeks later for Sasha's party.

Peter had insisted that I shouldn't go but he wasn't around, and Layla wasn't having that.

Peter's grandma was sick and Peter had to rush back to Europe to see her. Which meant he was faraway.

Why had it been so convenient? I hated that he had to leave me. But his grandma was important to him and I couldn't be selfish.

I was going to be okay till he got back, Sasha and her minions weren't bullying me anymore.

And like she said, the past two weeks, she made it a personal mission to kick out or beat up any elites found bullying subs.

She had really changed so I felt more confident about attending this party of hers.

Besides, Layla was going to be there and I was happy about attending my first party.

And in Sasha's house! Layla brought over a dress for me the other day and made me swear to wear it.

It was a little shorter than what I would normally wear and it was spaghetti strapped.

I thought she was crazy. There was no way I would go out with my fat arms on full display.

Good thing I had a cool silk jacket that matched the dress.

When I walked out of the house, she frowned at the jacket.

“You shouldn't be wearing that jacket! You promised to wear the gown.” She said, her face twisting into an angry mess.

I scoffed and looked down at the dress.

“And I'm wearing it, despite hating dresses, but there's no way I'm walking around with my arms on display.” I told her.

She slammed the door shut and marched towards me, her face hard, and her eyes flashing with determination and something akin to panic.

“You have to take off the jacket, Nat.”

I halted. What the hell was wrong with her? Why was she so worked up?

“I'm not, if I can't wear it, then I'm not coming.” I insisted and folded my arms across my chest.

She glared at me and scoffed before turning and walking back to the car.

“Suit yourself, just get in.” She hissed.

I let out a sigh as I walked over to the passenger seat and got in, she got in too and kicked the car to a start.

The night air was chill and I was a little cold in the dress. I pulled the jacket tighter around me, even though I knew it was going to do little.

I suddenly had this tight feeling in my chest and again I wondered if I should be going for this party.

My parents had been a bit sceptical too about me going, they had gotten used to Peter being around me all the time.

But I couldn't depend on Peter all the time. I wanted to be my own person.

We hadn't really spoken since our almost near kiss three times in one day, the last time he was at my place.

The last time, it was Piper barging into my room to say that Mom called that interrupted us.

I keep wondering what it all meant. Why was he trying to kiss me? Did he like me? Or he it was just fun for him?

I couldn't wait for him to get back, so we could talk about what it was.

He had said something, about knowing I felt it too, what did he mean?

I was so lost in thoughts, I barely registered Layla pulling up to Sasha's house.

“We're here.” She announced. The gates opened and she started to drive in, her car moving towards the massive sprawling garage.

As we got down from the car and headed away from the garage towards the other side of the house, which was like in a different compound inside a compound.

Sounded confusing? Yeah, me too. If I hadn't been to Peter's house before, Sasha's mansion would have paralyzed me.

But I was still shocked. Peter's family was obviously modest. Their mansion was nothing compared to Sasha's.

I realized Layla was looking at me.

“What?” I asked.

“You don't look very impressed with. Layla's place.” She noted.

I laughed, “I am impressed. I'm just not…fainting because I've seen an elite's house before. I've seen Peter's place.”I said.

Her expression darkened.

“Right, Peter.” She said his name like it was the name of a deadly virus.

I bit my lip to bite back a sigh. She always got that reaction in anything that had to do with Peter.

In fact, she had started to avoid me more after I became friends with Peter. I had no idea why she hated him so much.

As we walked up to the massive doors, I could already hear music faintly from outside.

The moment we stepped in though, it was like stepping into a club.

Loud music, loud screams, the smell of expensive alcohol, sweat, weed, even drugs.

The sight before me was like a scene out of a p**n or orgy get together.

There were students scattered here and there, in every corner of the house, even in the hallways.

Some were necking, some dancing, grinding lustfully against one another.

And some were just going at it there! Like having sex, girls against the walls, guys thrusting into them from behind.

Sultry moans filled the air and sounds of skin against skin. Others stood around watching them, like it was show, some jerked off to the scene.

Some just stood around, looking disinterested while some sniffed something from small boxes that looked like snuff boxes, or drugs?

What the hell did I just step into? I turned to Layla and she shrugged. She didn't look so surprised.

I was horrified. Was this what the elites party was like?

Before I could ask _ I doubted you could hear your own voice over the ruckus _ she dragged my hand and started to pull me through the teeming crowd.

We passed so many rooms, more sounds of students having sex, and some just hanging out, others getting high until we finally made our way into a large living room.

As we walked in, I realized only Sasha and her minions were here.

Sasha's face lit up when she saw me. She got up and walked over to me, her hands folded over her chest.

“You're here.” She said softly. I nodded, as I looked around at the others.

They were only six, and Trent was there. I looked closer and realized the only ones in the room were the top six elites.

My heart fell. Something was horribly wrong, I realized.

They were all looking at me weird. Except Sasha who was smiling like she just hit the jackpot.

“Good job, Layla. You can go now.” She said.

Huh? I turned to Layla who gave me a mocking grin and started to walk away.

“It was great knowing you, I guess.” She said and then she was gone, locking the door behind her.

I turned back to Sasha, my heart beating rapidly against my chest, the others had gotten up and they were all rounding up on me.

What just happened? What did she mean? Did Layla sell me out…no, no, she was my friend, she wouldn't do that.

But then Peter's words rushed back. About Sasha using Layla to get to me.

I didn't believe him. Oh God, I didn't believe him.

“What are you doing? What do you want from me?” I stuttered stupidly.

They all laughed at me as they advanced closer, they were completely surrounding me now and I was locked in here with them.

“Oh you poor stupid thing. Don't you get it? Your friend sold you out to us. And your knight in shining armor won't be here to save your useless ass.” Sasha sneered.

She charged towards me and pushed me to the ground with a hard shove.

I yelled and one of them reached down and tore my jacket off me.

I covered my arms in embarrassment as I stared wide eyed at the group.

This couldn't be happening. I felt tears sting my eyes and start to drip down my cheek.

Sasha laughed and turned to the others.

“Aww, she's crying. Look at her fat flabby arms, guys.” She said, and cackled.

I shook my head, as my heart squeezed painfully, threatening to burst with the right pressure.

“What do you want from me?” I cried out.

“Don't you get it darling? You caused us elites a lot of trouble and we're going to make you pay, and it's going to hurt…very, very badly.”

I burst into tears, my only reaction at that moment, I looked up at their sneering faces as they laughed at me.

They looked like monsters closing in on me, leading their sacrifice to the altar.

Sasha kept their promise and that night, they broke me in multiple ways.

Everyone I ever thought was on my side had turned on me, in the end, I was alone…Sasha, Layla, Peter…even him, he was part of this.

As I went through hell, my mind automatically flitted back to the beginning, to how it all started.

And I wished I didn't take that step. I wished that I had never gone inside the gates of this hell called Delengade College.

She couldn't still be in the bathroom. There was no way.Or didn't Trent tell her I called? Even if he didn't, she should have checked her phone and realized I called, right?I just didn't understand anymore. I felt like Layla and I were drifting apart ever since we got into Delengade and she started hanging around with Trent and other elites.I couldn't remember the last time we had a proper conversati

  • Beauty From Ashes    CHAPTER SEVENTY SIX

NATASHA'S POVI told myself I couldn't have a crush on Peter. He was literally the only genuine friend I had right now.Not to shit on Layla or anything but well…you get it. I shouldn't ruin such a good friendship with stupid feelings.“You know you don't have to do that. You don't really need to go to school, you know. You literally own the school.” I said, chuckling nervously. He smiled tightly and shrugged, his eyes glittered for a few seconds like he had something to say.I arched my brow, did I offend him? I wondered. “What? Did I say something wrong?” I asked. He sighed and then chuckled as he ran a hand through his hair. My eyes followed his movement and I swallowed nervously.Oh for God's sake, stop it, Nat. You.cannot.have.a.crush.on.him. So what if I did? There was no way he would like someone like me, with my weight and everything.“I just get uncomfortable when people talk about my status. They're mostly fake and insensitive comments too. That's not the case for you of cou

NATASHA'S POVPeter finally pulled up in front of my house and I got down. I didn't want to part with him just yet.I had so much fun with him today. The tour at his family house, his own place, him cooking for me and our conversation today. It was the most fun I had in a long time. I didn't want the day to end just yet.We stood outside his car after we got down just talking about random things and I figured he didn't want to leave either. So, I came up with an excuse for the both of us.“Do you want to come in, Peter? We can watch movies and you can hsvd mango juice. I noticed you didn't have any at home.” I said.He grinned.“Yeah, why not? I'm just going to go back home to my big and empty house anyway. I might as well keep hanging out with you.” He said.I smiled and he locked his car door and we walked into the house together. He sat in the living room while I grabbed cookies from the fridge, a carton of milk for myself and mango juice for him. Then we both settled in the living

NATASHA'S POV I had no idea why Peter wouldn't like Layla but before I could ask, he got a call. It was about his grandma and from his conversation with the person on the other end, his grandma was only just getting better.“I thought you said you came back because your grandma was doing better?” I asked. We had just left the house in his car and where on our way home already. He shrugged.“Well, she was and she wasn't. She had a relapse a few hours ago.” He said.I kept staring at him, not sure if I should believe him. If he came back suddenly because of me and left his sick grandma all alone, that would make me feel really bad.He smiled when he saw my expression.“Trust me, Nat. That isn't what happened okay? I love my grandma like crazy. I would never chose any girl over her.” He said, grinning. He was teasing me, right? I shook my head and replied with a laugh.“You're unbelievable. Your grandma is one lucky woman, I guess.” I said.“I'm the lucky man here.” He mused.I laughed

NATASHA'S POV It was an excursion. Having Peter take me to his place and show me around had felt like an excursion.Especially since it took all of an hour for us to finish touring the entire house. We walked back to Peter's car and I was feeling grateful and happy about how happy I would feel if my day ended with this.“Thank you for bringing me here, Peter. My sister is going to go freak out when I tell her I came here.” I said, as I laughed.“She's like a gossip center. She knows everything there is to know about Delengade, the elites…it's funny. She would have psyched to be here.” I said.He smiled.“We can bring her next time.” He said. My eyes widened as I turned to him.“Next time?” I asked, my voice coming out in a high pitched whisper, I was way too excited.“Yeah, we can come next time if you want. And you can have Piper come along and Bart, if he's up for it.” He said.I laughed in disbelief. “Whoa, Peter. That's…wonderful. I'm…speechless? Thanks a lot. Piper would freak

NATASHA'S POV The drive to his place was a long one. After all, he had to come pick me up from my place and the middle class district and the upper class district were built a little differently.Whatever that meant…It took almost an hour before Peter was pulling into the biggest ass mansion I had seen in my life.Well, I haven't seen any in real life of course. Just pictures, and online but his house was way more impressive than any I had ever seen in pictures. It was a perfect combination of monarchy and democracy. Em, that didn't make any sense. I don't even know why I said that.Anyway…his house looked like a modern day version of a castle. Enormous, brooding, intimidating, somewhat dark but with enough brightness in all the right places.Enough for the house to come off as ethereal instead of creepy.I was speechless.I turned to look at Peter beside me, my heart beating at a faster pace. I guess I was that excited.“You live here? Do you really live here? By yourself? All alon
