Megan

Telling Susan that I would stay with Jack was not as easy as I thought, especially with her making a scene. The good thing was Jeremy's presence and the fact that Jack promised he would not let anything happen to me. But that was a walk in the park compared to the conversation I am having right now with Jack.

"You cannot tell me not to go to work, that is crazy. Do you understand that it is my responsibility?"

"Now is not the time, angel, you do not understand things. Here at home you will be safe, there is no need for you to expose yourself like that." My eyes narrow and my patience reaches its limit.

"If this is how it is going to be, I am leaving. Not just to work, I am leaving this place. You do not own me, Jack. I have been working non-stop for two years, I cannot just leave everything hanging, do you understand? Besides, Susan and Jeremy will be there, they will not leave me alone, nothing will happen to me."

"You are not going, angel, and that is my final word." Damn possessive wolf.

"I do not like you anymore, Jack. I used to, but not anymore."

"I will survive, angel, and so will you, because you are not leaving here." He smiles in satisfaction. Damn it, I knew it would be like this, I even knew it before he told me he was a wolf. But did I listen to myself? No, there I go diving headfirst into trouble.

We spent the rest of the day without speaking to each other. It is childish, but if he is stubborn, so am I.

The next morning I get up and see him getting ready. Sure, he gets to go out...

"I have to go to the station. Please, angel, do not go to work, just listen to me for once." But he only receives silence from my end.

I go to the fridge, grab some eggs, and start cooking them. With every move, I feel him keeping his eyes on me, but right now I am mad at him.

"I am serious, angel, do not go out. We will try to fix this. You will go back to your routine soon." I feel a kiss on my head and then his footsteps. Good, he is gone.

Turning off the stove, I run to the bedroom and proceed to get changed. I quickly put on some jeans, a shirt, and flats, finish up, brush my hair, and head out.

"We will see if I do not go to work, Jack," I say to myself, walking out the door.

Half an hour later, I am at the school entrance. Once inside, I find Susan with Principal Vega.

"Megan, I see you are recovered and ready to resume your duties." I look at the principal, who looks me up and down. "Have they found out anything about the fire?"

"No, Principal Vega, the investigations are still ongoing." I look at Susan, pleading for help.

"The important thing is that Megan is okay and is already getting back to work," she says, saving me.

"Of course. Now go to your respective classrooms, classes will start any minute." We both watch her as she walks to her office.

"Viper," Susan mutters before turning to me. "How are you, Meg? How are things going with Jack?"

"Bad. Can you believe he tried to stop me from coming to work? He is crazy if he thinks I am going to obey him."

"Meg, it is not that I am taking his side, but I think you should stay home for at least a few days. That man was after you, I know it even if you do not tell me."

"I cannot live in hiding. Besides, I do not think he will come here, too many witnesses," I say, pointing to the children and teachers.

"I do not know, Meg, I still think you should have stayed safe."

The hours pass by like nothing, but in the middle of the day I see a very familiar gray wolf through the window, and that is when I start to doubt whether I should have listened to Jack. But when his eyes meet mine, I know for a fact. I made a huge mistake coming here.

APRILI wake up feeling dizzy, completely disoriented.I had the strangest dream where Ryan turned into a wolf. But not just any wolf, the one I treated a few days ago.It felt so real, I can still feel the fear coursing through my veins. Then I open my eyes, only to meet Michael's worried gaze."It was not a dream, right?" my question comes out choked."I would like to tell you yes, but no. You see, little pom-pom, Ryan got scared and surrendered control to his wolf, but he would never hurt you." Wow, what reassurance those words give me."Okay, I am getting out of here. I am losing my mind, that is it, everything has an explanation. The intense stress I am exposing myself to is causing me to hallucinate; with a little rest, this will just become a bad dream.""Little pom-pom, you need to calm down or you could faint again. I understand you are in shock..." He tried to get closer, but I pushed him away."Do not touch me! I do not know what you are, and I do not want to know." Right n

RYAN"Are you stupid? Bad dog," I growl, annoyed. I have no control over myself right now."Leave him alone, Michael. Ryan, let us pick April up. If she wakes up and the first thing she sees is you shifted, she will lose her mind." Even though I know Jack is right, my wolf will not let them get near his mate."Come on, Ryan, think about April. Do you want her to stay with you, or do you want her to run away without looking back?" Michael approaches and picks April up, taking her upstairs."Alright, now try to calm down. We are all your friends here, there is no threat."I do not remember how long I stayed shifted as a wolf; I only know that when I am finally able to return to my human form, I am completely devastated."She is going to hate me," I murmur, knowing this was not the best way for her to find out our true identity."She will not. She might be a little scared, but the good thing is that she loves animals.""Shut up, Nathan, that will not help right now." Robert steps closer.

APRIL"Hello everyone, look who I brought." Ryan trying to sound casual unsettled me in a way. I was not a fragile glass doll that needed protecting."Little pom-pom! Did you miss me?" His hopeful face brought a smile to mine; sometimes he looked like one of the puppies I worked with."This might surprise you, I am even surprised myself, but yes, I missed you." A huge smile spread across his face, showing every single tooth. Completely terrifying! "Though with that face, you are starting to scare me.""Oh no, it does not. You just confessed that you missed me. You see, Ryan, now you have competition." I should have guessed he would say something like that."Shut up, idiot," my companion growls."This growling thing is starting to worry me. Will I have to sedate and examine you?""Do not forget about the fleas, I have seen him scratching. Is it fleas or mange? Which one is it, Ryan?" When I look at Ryan's face, I cannot help but burst out laughing."What is all that noise?" The new voi

APRIL"April, what is wrong?" It was the third time Summer had asked me without getting an answer. "Come on, trust me, I do not like seeing you like this.""We need to get Mr. Patterson's bulldog ready, he will be by to pick him up in 20 minutes. Can you check that everything is in perfect condition?""Sure, April, I will do it right away." She sighs, annoyed, but I will not say anything to her."Thanks..." I could not help but replay the conversation with my father over and over in my head.Around noon, I see Ryan walk through the door. We had agreed to have lunch together, but with everything going on, I had forgotten."Bunny." Just that makes me relax. Taking me by the waist, he leaned in to place a kiss on my lips. "I hope you are ready to get out of here." I simply wrapped my arms around his shoulders and hugged him.I needed a hug so much today."So my mother was not wrong, and you really are a slut?" That voice, one I had loved so much over the years, and now it only makes me f

MeganI do not think I have ever seen anyone as upset as Jack is right now.On the way to his house, he did not say a single word. I guess his head was full of things, while I did not say anything because I was too scared to open my mouth. When we walked into his house, things did not change much. His body was giving off a sort of "do not come near me" signal, and God knows I was not going to."What were you thinking? I only asked you to stay inside." Even though he did not yell, his tone made me feel so small."I wanted to be responsible...""Do not lie to me, angel, and do not lie to yourself. What you wanted was to prove that you are not weak. You thought, I will go to school and show everyone they are exaggerating. Well, breaking news, you were wrong, and you exposed everyone in a ridiculous way.""I know I made a mistake, but I really did not think he would dare. The school was full.""The building I pulled you out of was too, and that did not stop him from setting it on fire. Yo

JackWe were called for an apparent emergency, but when we arrived, there was nothing. I cannot believe people joke about this; while we are coming here, we might be needed somewhere else. My annoyance only grows. I still haven't spoken to my angel; I am getting the damn cold shoulder just for wanting to protect her. I look for my phone thinking about calling her to see how everything is going, but I cannot find it. I hope I did not lose it."Jack, we have a problem." I looked at Nathan, who was holding his phone."What happened now? A fake cat stuck in an imaginary tree?" I sighed in anger."No, actually, it is a moon trapped in a school, with a fire and a wolf," he shakes his head as I erupt."She dared to escape! I asked her to stay in the house. Is she foolish?" I growled so loudly that my teammates took a step back."Calm down, Jack, Ryan is taking care of it." Nathan's amused tone had vanished."Let's go to the school," I say, already heading to the truck. "What are you waiting
