~ A Kiss From The Vampire?

Kieran’s POV.

I stare deep into Caius' red blooded eyes as fear curls around my chest, curling around it so tightly I barely have the strength to breathe.

The variations of colour in his eyes makes my entire being tremble from deep within me.

And I know the reason behind this colour.

He's hungry.

I swallow hard as I roll down the window.

The muscles in his jaw tighten and his nostrils flare. Amongst the feeling of fear flooding within me, is a single stroke of annoyance made entirely by rejection.

He hates my scent.

“What are you doing here, human?” he asks while still watching me.

Oh fuck.

Lust covers the surface of the fear coursing through me, diluting it enough for my stomach to coil with desire. His voice is as deep and rich as the colour dusting his eyes.

I raise a trembling finger towards where Beau is providing his consorting service.

Caius doesn't even follow my finger. He doesn't move at all.

“Why are you here? How did you find me?” I ask.

My vampire stares me down, looking at me in disgust. I want to counter his look with one of my own but even if I tried more, I can't manage that. He is by far the most beautiful man I've ever seen.

Vampires are meant to be beautiful but my vampire is breathtaking.

“Some humans claim they never forget a face, right?” He replies, breathing heavily.

I nod.

“Well… I never forget a scent.”

Again, my head nods in understanding. “So you were close by?”

Caius’ lips part and I see the tips of his canine as they elongate into fangs. This is what happens when they're too hungry. They can't control it and even though he finds me repulsive, he can't resist the smell of blood. He only sees me as food.

I swallow back the temptation to ask him to feed from my blood.

“No, I smelled yours before you even reached the colony.”

I blush.

He doesn't say it with disgust but like he's stating a fact. There aren't a lot of humans around their colony so it makes sense that he remembers mine.

Caius tilts his head to the side, humming low in his throat.

“You need to leave.” He says.

“I can't. Not without my friend.” I argue with a fleeting courage while I nod towards the house Beau just went through.

He raises a brow.

I glance outside and I notice his kind walking down their porch towards my car. Fear claws at the little control I've managed to have.

“I'm one of the most respected and strongest vampires but they are not in their right frame of mind. They are too hungry to listen to me right now.”

Too hungry?

How's that possible?

Every vampire has a human assigned to them and it's the responsibility of every consort to serve when they're needed.

Why are they so hungry?

I feel my pulse quickening as vampires move closer to where we are.

“You need to calm your pulse. The faster your blood pumps, the faster it carries your scent to them.” Caius says irritably, tightening his hand around the side of the door.

Caius glances at the approaching creatures with creased brows before he opens the passenger door and cramps his long limbs into the vehicle. My eyes sweep up his attire—black dress pants with black collared shirt. He points in a direction and tells me to drive that way.

“What about Beau? I can't leave him behind.”

“I'll make sure your friend is safe for the night,” he promises. “But we need to leave now.”

I hesitate because this creature could be taking me anywhere for all I know to trade me with another vampire for a new consort.

Then he speaks to me with a sharp edge that keeps my fear intact. “I will not hurt you, but they will. We need to move now!”

I lick my lips and with trembling hands. I put the car into gear and drive towards where Caius points. I try to look back guiltily towards the house Beau is in but I can't see anything other than red eyes with hungry gazes everywhere.

We drive until well past the colony and when I started getting worried about my fuel gauge, Caius pointed me to a gravel road that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. Caius told me to wait in the car so he'd check around.

“What for?”

“To make sure every unwanted visitor gets back to the colony.”

Trepidation runs through my blood but I try to calm my breathing as Caius' words ring in my head again. I lock the car doors again.

I may have never travelled to the colony before but buying something about this feels very off. The Vampires were giving consorts and even a modern living environment.

So why are they so vile?

I chew on my bottom lip, all the stress becomes focused on the lip currently between my teeth. I chew on it so hard that a small cut pierces through the supple flesh. I wince and allow my tongue, run across it.

The coppery tang of blood met my taste buds.

Seconds later, Caius is back by my windowside.

“Did you get any lurkers?” I ask, rolling down the window.

He doesn't answer me. He is still like a statue. Then his eyes rake my face until they narrow at my bottom lip.

I feel another drop of blood flow on my lip and I also lick it up with my tongue.

Caius' eyes follow the action.

He reaches for my face with hands so strong, they could break me if they wanted to. It's like I'm in another world. His fangs elongate more, making my heart beat out of control.

He lures me in with his red eyes and his scent puts me in a sense of false peace.

My chest squeezes together in anticipation when he pulls me closer to him.

Caius drags his slender fingers through my hair and pulls me closer by my nape. His scent draws me closer to his lips. His hands are as soft as snow. He leans closer to my lips, leaving little to no space between us.

My breath accelerates as his breath ghosted my face.

  • Bloodbound: A Consort For The Vampire   CHAPTER FIFTEEN~ He Rejected My Blood And My Heart.

Kieran's POV I coughed into the plush Leather Couch. It burns my lungs and tickles the back of my throat. The air is a rough mixture of dirt, dust particles and burning electrical wire. But I refused to let Professor Evans open a window. It just seemed too dangerous. I reach for the pillow gingerly and clutch it to my chest. Goosebumps trail up the length of my arm, and for the hundredth time today, I have the crazy fear that someone is watching me.I squint against the darkened room and steady my breathing. I have to remind myself that no one is there. It's just fear. The lingering smell of my room clings to my pillowcase. Professor Evans was trying to make me feel more comfortable knowing I wouldn't be back to the hostel for quite some time so we stopped at the hostel to get some of my things. When we got to the hostel, it was a ghost town though. It was eerily quiet with most of the doors bolted shut or left open and completely empty. No one made a sound as we traipsed down the

  • Bloodbound: A Consort For The Vampire   CHAPTER FOURTEEN ~ You Will Be Mine, Human.

Kieran's POV My heart beats screeched to a halt. Is he talking to me? Minx? “The vampire's deep voice is muffled through the door, but its toxicity is potent enough to make bile rise to my throat.“Do not move, Kieran.” Professor Evans whispered to me in the corner. The vampire presses his face against the window so hard that I feel like is reaching out to me. His gaze never breaks from me and a smile grace his face. “I will keep you safe, minx,” the vampire says with his voice taking on a seductive edge. Again with the Minx. Who is the minx? Is that someone who has never fed a vampire? My limbs tremble as it says the name again. I hug my knees tighter to my chest and I force myself to lower my gaze from him. He bangs his hands against the door and I flinched. “Come to me now minx!” The vampire shouts. There's the emotion of need that's growing with intensity every time he speaks. He just sucked a woman dry not long ago and he's hungry. Is it because I'm still a virgin con

  • Bloodbound: A Consort For The Vampire   CHAPTER THIRTEEN~ Open This Door Minx… I'll Take Care Of You.

CHAPTER THIRTEEN~ Open This Door Minx… I'll Take Care Of You. Kieran's POV Class was unbearable. All throughout the lecture professor Evans highs find their way over to me is expression rackingly curious. I revert back to my old ways, not engaging in classroom debate or questions. Rebecca sits beside me with the tail smell of cigarettes emitting from her skin despite a shower. With sideways glands I pair down my notes; they are not as neat and orderly as they usually are. I push Rebecca's hand to the side writing a note in the corner of a note pad. “Are you feeling okay?” She blinks at the notes before furiously scribbling out my words. I slump in my chair, reminding myself that this is all part of her process of healing. I set my pen to the side, checking out my brain from the lecture room. I wonder if every student knows about the revolution happening right now. Or are they oblivious of it as I was a few days ago? A soft breeze escapes through the small space o

  • Bloodbound: A Consort For The Vampire   CHAPTER TWELVE ~ Those Monsters Took Our Friend.

Kieran's POV I stir awake with the sound of dishes clattering against each other. I get up and step towards the kitchen, noticing Rebecca moving about with purposeful footsteps. I open my mouth to call out to her but the taste of Caius' kiss still lingers across my taste buds. I swallow down the taste, reveling in it for my own moment of bliss. My vampire probably hated the kiss. Who am I kidding? Of course he hated the kiss, but he still indulged me enough for me to think I had a moment with him. I shake myself out of my days and with a heavy yawn comma I move towards the kitchen. This is not the time for me to have pathetic dreams about an immortal who has no emotions. This is the time for me to be a supportive friend for Rebecca.“Good morning,” I say. She glances over her shoulder and looks at me with a distant smile. “Good morning, Kieran. I'm making pancakes. Do you want some?“Yeah… sure,” I replied to her. She nods. “Are you okay, Bec?” I asked worriedly. She lets

  • Bloodbound: A Consort For The Vampire   CHAPTER ELEVEN ~ This Is Death Human.

Kieran's POV My vampire's wide shoulders and height looks strange in my bedroom. I shove my back against my reading desk to get as far away from him as possible. Caius blinks at me, unfazed. “Right. So as I was saying, Rebecca didn't take the news well. And if you must know, she's part of the revolution,” I whisper. “So now that Beau has been changed, I was wondering if you could take him back to the vampire colony until I figure out what to do?”Caius looks at me like I am a clown and shakes his head. “There's nothing you can do, human. Once I take your friend away, he's not coming back.”“What! You can't do that!” I say as my eyes widen.“If she's anything like him, I'm sure she'll only try to cut out his heart and use it against every vampire she can get her hand on.”I lean forward, suddenly feeling irritated. “Don't act like you know them.”My vampire's eyes turn to slits and he leans forward as well. I ignore the seduction, potent in his scent, focusing on my anger instead.

  • Bloodbound: A Consort For The Vampire   CHAPTER TEN~ He Does Not Remember Us At All.

Kieran's POVI watch Rebecca as she takes a drag of her cigarettes on the front porch. I step out to join her and I cough as I can the bitter smell from my nose. “There's still no word from Beau?” “Nope.” She responds. “I'm sorry.”She shrugs and takes another drag. It's been five days since Caius left me at the hostel door and it's been three days since he showed up in my class unannounced. It feels like an eternity. It would have been better if we knew Beau was alright but my vampire isn't giving us updates.“Did you try emailing your vampire again?” Rebecca asks after a moment of worried silence. I chew on my lip as I nod. I've been sending mails to Caius everyday but none has been met with a reply. I lean against the door, breathing through my mouth. Rebecca keeps staring into the woods like she's willing our best friend to return. Suddenly a light breeze picks up in the distance. I follow Rebecca's gaze into the woods and I squint. I don't see anything. The wind dies down
