Chapter Two:The Problem With Marcus Blackwood

Marcus Blackwood had a problem.

And the problem’s name was Noah Vale.

Marcus stood in the dark apartment across the street from ValeTech Tower, one hand resting on the windowsill as he watched the building like a hunter studying prey.

Thirty-two floors up, lights burned in the CEO office.

Noah was still there.

Of course he was.

Marcus had already read the man’s entire schedule twice tonight. The youngest CEO in ValeTech history worked like he had something to prove to the entire world.

But that wasn’t the part bothering Marcus.

No.

What bothered him was the way Noah had looked at him in the garage last night.

Not afraid, or confused, he was f**king looking at me closely.

********

Marcus had spent his whole life around fear. Humans usually sensed something dangerous about him even if they didn’t understand why.

But Noah Vale?

The man had leaned closer.

Like he wanted to see the monster better, he was fearless if I must say.

Marcus exhaled slowly and opened the file on his tablet again.

NOAH VALE

Age: 30

Occupation: CEO, ValeTech Industries

Adopted by: TheVales family.

Marcus had already memorized every word, every line.

But the deeper he dug, the stranger things became.

No hospital birth record, no trace about his adoption , it was a clean slate.

No real explanation for where the billionaire couple had found a baby boy thirty years ago.

Which meant one thing.

The Elders were right.

Marcus stared up at the glowing office window again.

You really are the one.

The hybrid heir.

Half vampire.

Half werewolf.

A living mistake powerful enough to start a war that had nearly destroyed both clans centuries ago.

Marcus should have ended it already.

That had been the mission.

Get close,Confirm identity.

Kill him before the prophecy awakened.

So why the hell was Marcus still standing here watching him?

Because Noah Vale wasn’t what Marcus expected.

Cold CEOs usually hid behind arrogance and security teams.

But Noah had walked into that empty parking garage alone.

Had stood his ground.

Had smiled like danger excited him.

Marcus rubbed a hand down his face.

And there was something else too.

Something far more annoying.

Marcus could still picture the exact moment Noah looked up at him.

With his sexy Grey eyes and his sharp mouth.

Marcus had seen beautiful people before.

Vampires practically invented beauty.

But Noah Vale had something different.

Something rougher, more human and very tempting.

Marcus pushed the thought away immediately.

Ridiculous.

Humans weren’t tempting.

Humans were weak and gullible.

Yet here Marcus was.

Still watching.

Still thinking about the way Noah’s voice had dropped when he asked, What do you want?

Marcus muttered under his breath.

“This is stupid.”

Then he picked up his coat.

Because clearly the only way to deal with this problem was to get closer to his target.

**********

Meanwhile Noah was having the exact same thoughts about The stranger he met at the garage last night.

His problem had broad shoulders, dark eyes, and the most dangerous voice Noah had ever heard.

Noah groaned softly and rubbed his hands over his face.

This was ridiculous.

He didn’t obsess over random men he met in parking garages.

He was a CEO.

He ran a multibillion-dollar company.

He had investors breathing down his neck and board members waiting for him to screw up.

And yet—

His brain kept replaying Marcus standing there at the garage alone with all his abs in the right places.

Watching him, studying like Noah was some puzzle he intended to solve.

Noah leaned back in his chair trying to pretend he wasn’t having dirty thoughts about this dude.

There had been something in Marcus’ eyes.

Something dark, very possessive.

Like the man could snap a room in half if he wanted to.

And for some reason that thought made heat crawl slowly through Noah’s chest.

Noah swore under his breath.

“Get a grip.

But the images kept coming anyway.

Marcus standing closer.

Marcus gripping his wrist, and cuffing him to the bed,

Marcus leaning down And kissing his nipples softly..before he could realize he was already jerking precum in his pants.

“Nope.”

Noah shot upright in his chair.

Absolutely not.

He was not about to sit here fantasizing about a stranger like some hormonal teenager.

A loud knock on the apartment door interrupted him.

“Door’s open,” Noah called.

A second later Ethan strolled in carrying two takeout bags and the kind of grin that meant trouble.

“There he is,” Ethan said cheerfully. “The corporate tyrant himself.”

Noah snorted.

You’re late buddy.

“Traffic. Also your building security hates me.”

“They hate everyone.”

Ethan dropped onto the couch like he owned the place.

Which, to be fair, he practically did.

Ethan had been Noah’s best friend since college, he was loud and very chaotic.

Completely unimpressed by billionaire status.

Which was probably why Noah trusted him.

Ethan tossed Noah a drink.

“So,” he said casually. “Why do you look like you haven’t slept?”

Noah opened his mouth but the words was so heavy to spill out.

He was absolutely not about to explain that he’d been thinking about some mysterious guy all night.

Ethan narrowed his eyes.

“Oh no.”

“What?”

“That look means something happened.”

“No it doesn’t.”

“Dude,” Ethan said dryly, “I’ve known you for ten years. Spill.”

Noah hesitated.

Then sighed.

“Fine.”

Ethan leaned forward eagerly.

“This better be good.”

Noah ran a hand through his hair.

Met someone last night.

Ethan blinked twice.

Waoh, you don’t say.

“You met someone?”

“Yes.”

“At work?”

“Sort of.”

Ethan stared at him.

Then slowly grinned.

“Oh this is incredible.”

“Don’t start.”

“No, no,” Ethan laughed. “Continue. Tell me about the mysterious stranger who managed to distract Noah Vale from spreadsheets.”

Noah rolled his eyes but couldn’t stop the small smile tugging at his mouth.

“He was… weird.”

“Weird how?”

“Like he knew something about me.”

Ethan raised an eyebrow.

“That’s not creepy at all.”

“No,” Noah admitted quietly. “It should have been.”

“But?”

Noah looked away, but it wasn’t.

Ethan studied him carefully now.

“Okay,” he said slowly. “Now I’m curious.”

Noah shrugged.

“He just… looked at me differently.”

Ethan smirked.

“Oh my god.”

“What in the world is going on MR CEO.

“You’re attracted to him.”

Noah scoffed immediately.

“I am not.”

“You are absolutely attracted to him.”

“No I’m not.”

“You met a mysterious, probably dangerous guy in a parking garage and now you’re thinking about him.”

Ethan’s grin widened.

“Wow,” Ethan said. “You’re doomed.”

Noah grabbed a pillow and threw it at him.

“Shut up.”

But even as they laughed, something cold slid slowly down Noah’s spine.

Because somewhere deep inside…

He had the strange feeling that Marcus Blackwood wasn’t just a random stranger.

And whatever game the man was playing—

Noah was already in it.

  • KISS ME BEFORE YOU KILL ME: The Assassin and the Hybrid heir   chapter seventy six

Noah’s POV The main chamber felt heavy with old secrets, and torchlight flickered on the stone walls. I stood there, my heart still racing from everything Seraphine had told us. My hands were sweaty as Elara stepped forward and pushed a yellowed, old letter into my palm. The paper felt rough and very soft, as if it could fall apart at any moment. “What’s this?” I asked, voice trembling. “It’s from Mum,” Elara said softly. Her eyes looked tired, not angry like usual. “I found it years ago. Read it.” I slowly unfolded the letter, Marcus right beside me, his shoulder touching mine for support. The handwriting was messy but legible. Mum wrote that the Elders weren’t the true villains. They were merely pawns of something bigger—a nameless, formless creature that had hunted hybrids like us for thousands of years. She said she wasn’t killed in some big fight; she was taken. Dragged away. She begged us to run, hide, and just survive. Tears burned my eyes as I read her words. “Stay safe

Noah’s POV The stone wall had cracked open like it was waiting just for us. I stood there staring at the carving inside the alcove, my heart hammering so hard I could feel it in my throat. My name and Marcus’s name were etched together in the rock, wrapped around that crown of fangs. It looked old, like it had been there forever. My hands shook as I reached closer but stopped short. This was real. All of it.Seraphine stood beside me, her silver hair shining in the torchlight. “The prophecy was never about one hybrid king ruling alone,” she said, voice calm but urgent. “It needs two. You and Marcus, bound by blood and by choice. Together. The Elders twisted the story for centuries to prevent this from happening. They sent Marcus to kill you, Noah. They failed because your bond is stronger than their lies.” I swallowed hard, glancing at Marcus. He stood right next to me, his grey eyes fixed on mine. After everything—the warehouse fight, the collar burning my neck, nearly losing him—I

MARCUS POV The fighting stopped all of a sudden, like someone hit pause on the whole damn world. Seraphine raised her hand and said one word in some language I didn't know. It sounded old and powerful. Every executioner and elder soldier froze right where they were, arms halfway up or legs mid-step. Then they just dropped, unconscious, hitting the ground like sacks of potatoes. The head Elder took one look at her, eyes wide with pure terror, and ran off into the dark like his ass was on fire. I almost laughed, but I was too beat up and too worried about Noah to care.Seraphine turned to us with this calm look on her face. "Follow me. It's time you saw the truth." Her voice was steady, like she'd done this a hundred times before. She led us to a hidden door under the warehouse loading dock. It creaked open when she touched it, revealing a spiral staircase going down into the dark. We went slow because we were all messed up. My thumb still hurt like hell. My body felt like one big brui

Noah's POV The chaos exploded all around us like the whole world was ending right there in that dirty lot outside the warehouse. Massive wolves with fur as dark as night and eyes glowing gold slammed into the Elders' executioners. Snarls ripped through the air, claws slashed, and guys screamed as they got thrown around like ragdolls. Gunshots cracked every few seconds, mixed with flashes of weird magic that lit up the red moonlight. But honestly? I barely registered any of it. My head was spinning too much from everything else.My grandma—the woman with that long silver hair and eyes the color of the red moon—still had her hand on my cheek. Her touch was warm, like the kind of hug you didn't know you needed until it happened. It felt ancient somehow, like it carried years and years of stories I didn't even know about. My heart was pounding so hard it hurt, and tears kept trying to sneak out of my eyes. After all the lies from Richard, the running, the fighting... this felt too real.

Noah POV The night air hit me like a slap when we stumbled out of that warehouse. My neck was on fire from the silver collar, blood still dripping down my shirt. Every step felt like knives in my legs, but I kept going. Marcus leaned heavy on my shoulder, barely standing. His face was all pale and sweaty, thumb still messed up badly, but he wouldn't let go of me. Dorian, Elara, and Jaxon stayed close behind us in a tight circle. We were all beat up, bleeding, exhausted as hell, but nobody was backing down. Not now.The Elders and their executioners waited for us outside. A whole line of them in the red moonlight, looking like ghosts ready to end everything. My heart pounded so hard I thought it might crack my ribs. This was it. After all the running, the fights, the lies... they had us cornered. I squeezed Marcus's hand tight, feeling his warm fingers even through the pain. He was my rock. The one person who made all this crap worth it. I loved him so much it hurt worse than the coll

  • KISS ME BEFORE YOU KILL ME: The Assassin and the Hybrid heir   chapter seventy one

Marcus POV Marcus watched Noah stomp on Richard's hand, and his chest squeezed tight. God, Noah looked so pissed and broken at the same time. That silver collar around his neck glowed like it was cooking him alive, blood running down his skin. I wanted to run over and hold him, tell him it was gonna be okay, but my body was wrecked. Silver poisoning burned through my veins like acid. My head spun from all the blood I lost, and my dislocated thumb hung there crooked and throbbing like fire. Every breath hurts. But I forced my legs to stay straight. No way was I letting Noah fight this alone. He was my mate. My everything. Losing him wasn't an option.I leaned against a busted crate near the candle circle, trying to catch my breath. The blue flames were mostly out now, but the air still felt heavy. Noah stood over Richard, looking down at the man who raised him like he was nothing but trash. I saw the hurt in Noah's eyes mixed with that cold anger. It made my heart ache. All those lies

Kael didn’t hesitate. He moved closer, voice low and rough. “The Elders didn’t send ordinary bloodsuckers. They brought their oldest executioners. Getting Marcus out of that wood was a nightmare. He was bleeding everywhere, his shirt ruined and sticking to his skin, but I didn’t care.
