LOGINNikolai POV
I stepped out of her office, the door closing behind as I stepped into the quiet hallway feeling accomplished. I stood there for about three seconds before any further step.
I took the elevator down, my hands in my pocket as I thought of the way Anastasia carefully read the contract, reading every clause. She's meticulous I'll give her that. Not showing any atom of fear or weakness.
Satisfaction coursed through me at the thought of keeping her by my side, and making her realize never to have messed with me in the first place
No one, not even a woman would dare make me feel disposable like she did.
I got to the parking garage, seeing Elias waiting for me by the car. I got into the back seat of the car, while Elias sat at the driver's seat.
“I need you to bury the footage, it shouldn't be accessible or traceable either.” He nodded in response as he started driving.
Elias knew better than to ask questions about why I was taking such a drastic steps.
“And also prepare the penthouse guest room, Temporarily,”
He looked at me through the rearview mirror. “Yes, temporarily.”
He grabbed his phone, typing while driving at the same time, careful not to lose total focus on the road.
I looked through the window as we drove through the city of london. The city looks the same as it always does. Everything has been quite boring until her.
Anastasia.
My mind instantly replaying the scene of Anastasia reading the contract, she wasn't just skimming through it or performing, she read through it. I bet she was looking for an exit out of it.
Watching her pretty lips curl into a frown, her eyes blazing with rage all I could think about was how hot she could look, pressed against the wall, screaming my name.
I smirked, my dick going hard at the mere thought it her.
I also couldn't help but think about the first time I met her.
The way she was seated on the barstool in Monaco gulping down alcohol like it was nothing. I had been watching her for twenty minutes and the one thing that amused me the most was the fact that when everyone in the room decided that I should be the one to choose them, she chose me.
What baffled me the most was the fact that she just left, no note, no phone number just cash on my night stand like I was someone she had hired to satisfy her sexual desires. No woman had ever made me feel that disposable before.
I had spent two months trying to find her. I continually told myself that it was about the briefcase until the briefcase actually became relevant. Before that it was something else entirely.
We got to the penthouse, I walked into my study, poured myself a drink.
I just stood by the window doing the thing I usually do when a situation requires recalibration, which is hold very still and think it through completely.
I thought about what six months living with Anastasia would be like. Would it be rough? Would she hate even more? Would she beg on her knees just to be with me?
None of that really mattered I had arranged the terms that will give me proximity and time.
I recognize the fact that proximity and time is exactly what i need, not because I have a plan beyond that, but because every instinct within me says that she requires patience and I have so much of it when it truly matters.
The bedroom? It's just a facade. I only told Elias to prepare the guest room because i knew she would need to feel like she had a choice in that specific thing.
My intention? Is for her to end up in my own room. But I need her to want it, to beg for it and I've got just the magic for it.
Elias knocking of the door of the study room snapped me out of my thoughts.
“Come in,” I turned to face him, dropping the wine glass on the table.
“Have you carried out the tasks I gave to you?”
“Yes sir! The footage is secured, the guest room is prepared and the press contact is on standby for the engagement announcement whenever you're ready,”
“Hold off the announcement for now,” Taking the glass wine and sipping from it.
“When she gets settled in, then we can move forward with the announcement,”
Elias clears his throat as though he was itching to say something.
“What is it Elias?” Putting down the glass wine on the table.
“It's very considerate of you to hold off on the announcement of the engagement sir.”
I scoffed at his words. “I'm not fucking considerate. It's strategic on my part, nothing more.”
He looked like he didn't agree to what I had just said. Elias always had an opinion of his own but he knew when to cross the line and when not to.
“Can I ask a question sir?”
“Go ahead,”
“Not to disrespect you or anything of such, this is out of personal concern for you,” he paused, reading my face for emotions that would give him go ahead.
I placed my hands into my pocket. “What is it Elias?”
“Do you think this arranged marriage is wise sir? Have you thoroughly considered what will happen after six months if the terms do not evolve?”
I shot him a look that said ‘Know your place’ which he understood immediately. I was in good mood today I wasn't going to ruin it with Elias petty concerns.
“Make sure her closet space is adequate, and get the fuck out of here.”
Elias leaves immediately.
I go back to my desk, opened the bottom drawer and take out a single photograph, the one Elias had sourced from the Monaco's club external security footage. It looks grainy and from a distance.
I take one long look at the picture, before putting it back in the drawer and gulping down the remaining drink.
I came to the conclusion that I've been circling around for the last two months. I wasn't going to tell her that I've been looking for her ever since we met in Monaco and that the briefcase was secondary
Anastasia POVI woke up to the feeling of something warm and heavy wrapped around me. For a moment, I was disoriented, my mind still fuzzy with sleep. Then I felt the arm draped across my waist, the steady rhythm of breath against my neck, and the familiar scent of his cologne.Nikolai.I turned my head slowly, careful not to wake him, and found myself staring at his sleeping face. He looked different like this, he looked softer, younger, almost vulnerable. His dark lashes rested against his cheek, his lips slightly parted, his brow smooth and unguarded. He was cute, really, unfairly cute and then the memories from last night came flooding back. The club. The dancing. The drinking. The puking.Oh no.I pressed my hand to my forehead, completely mortified by the memories. I'd puked on him. I'd puked on Nikolai Stavros, the most controlled, composed, infuriatingly put-together man I'd ever met.I wanted the floor to swallow me whole.I needed to get out of there before he woke up and re
Nikolai POVI watched Anastasia as she stood before me, her hand still extended, her eyes sparkling with mischief. I couldn't help but be amused by her. She was being so daring tonight, so bold, so utterly unlike the guarded woman I'd first met.But I couldn't deny that there was something captivating and enchanting about it. .She was like an unstoppable wildfire tonight, burning bright and uncontrollable and I found myself wanting to get burned."Wait here," I said, stepping back. "I have something to do."She raised an eyebrow. "Don't keep me waiting too long."I smirked, then made my way to the DJ booth. A few words, a flash of cash, and the DJ nodded enthusiastically. The song I'd requested began to play, it was a slow, sensual rhythm. I walked back to Anastasia, offering her my hand."Shall we?"She took my hand, her fingers warm against mine.We moved to the center of the dance floor, and the moment we began to move, everything else suddenly seem to fade away except for the mus
Nikolai POVI was in my office, buried in documents, when I decided to take a break. I was beginning to lose focus on what I was doing. I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my eyes, and reached for my phone. I opened Instagram, scrolling through my feed mindlessly. And then I found myself on Anastasia's account.I'd visited her profile before, more times than I cared to admit but tonight, I found myself scrolling through her older photos, looking at the woman she'd been before she became my fiancée.She was younger in the pictures, more softer. She was laughing in most of them, surrounded by friends, her hair windswept, her dress too short, her expression utterly carefree. She was beautiful then, still beautiful now and I dare to say that she's remained beautiful judging from her pictures.I continued scrolling when a notification popped up. A new story notification from Anastasia I tapped on it, my heart already beginning to pound. It was a photo of her, in a club. A shot glass in her
Anastasia POV Zara had to leave early after the dinner date but I remained seated in the restaurant, my mind still racing with everything that had happened. Damon's invitation sat heavy in my bag, a constant reminder of the conversation I'd had with him. His words didn't stop echoing in my head, his words were smooth and threatening all at once. I want you to come. You owe me. And then there was Zara's revelation, her hatred for Damon felt personal, raw, and it had left me unsettled. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was walking into something dangerous. I was so lost in my thoughts that I almost didn't notice the car waiting for me outside the restaurant. A familiar black sedan. Elias. He stepped out of the car, I walked towards him to meet him, opening the door for me. "Miss Anastasia. I'm here to take you home." I blinked, surprised. "But I didn't call you." "I know." He offered a small,
Jackson's POVNikolai had left about thirty minutes ago, I sat in my office reeling with fury and I could still taste blood, it tasted metallic in my mouth, my jaw throbbing with pain like I had just gotten a jaw reconstruction. The door had barely closed behind Nikolai before I was on my feet, my hands shaking with barely contained rage. I was ready to fight him but I held myself back.My arms moved swiftly over my desk, throwing away everything off my desk, the papers, pens, the framed photograph of Anastasia that I'd kept for appearances. It shattered against the wall, glass scattering across the floor."Bastard," I hissed. "Arrogant, self-righteous fucking bastard."My anger was directed at Nikolai, yes but it was also directed at Anastasia. This was her doing, she'd turned him against me. She'd poisoned him with her lies, her tears, her pathetic victim act.I paced the room, my mind racing with the next course of action to take. I'd made a terrible choice, a foolish, shortsighted
Nikolai's POVI sat quietly in the back of the car, my gaze fixed on the passing streets, but I didn't see any of it. My mind was elsewhere. It had been spiraling ever since I'd seen the bruise on Anastasia's cheek. The image was seared into my memory, the ugly purple mark spreading across her delicate skin, the way she'd flinched when I'd touched her face. Her own biological father had done that to her.The rage within me burned even more, hot and uncontrollable. I wanted to find Jackson and make him pay for every tear she'd shed, every bruise he'd left on her skin, every moment he'd made her feel small and worthless.I wanted to destroy him."Sir." Elias's voice cut through my thoughts. "We've arrived at the office."I blinked, surprised. I was so immersed in my thoughts of destroying Jackson that I didn't even realize that the car had stopped. We were parked outside my company's building but I didn't move."Take me to Jackson Reed's office," I said, my voice flat.Elias turned in h
ANASTASIA’s POVOh…You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!Was he serious? Like…actually serious? Or had he somehow lost a screw?I let out a forced chuckle. ‘’Tell me you’re joking.’’ I snapped, my judgemental gaze trailed on him. But his face remained the same with no amount of a smile or mockery i

ANASTASIA’s POVThe instructions I’d given myself were simple. Fly to Monaco, secure the contract with the foreign investors, and head back to London proving once again why I was the undisputed head of Reeds and associates. Rivals didn’t line up around the block trying to ruin me just because I w
