MasukEthan froze, disbelief rendering him completely silent as his mind struggled to process what he had just heard. Had the living Yama truly asked him to marry him? The words felt impossible absurd and unreal like something his broken mind had invented to escape the pain. He stared at Damien desperately, waiting for him to correct himself, to reveal that it was nothing more than a cruel joke. But Damien said nothing. His expression remained calm, composed, and terrifyingly serious, offering Ethan no escape from the reality of what had just been said.
And suddenly, Ethan laughed.
The sound was weak and unsteady, bordering on hysteria, and the movement sent sharp pain shooting through his ribs. Still, he couldn’t stop. The absurdity of the situation overwhelmed him completely. This man the most feared businessman in the country, the living Yama himself was standing in front of him, proposing marriage as if it were nothing more than a simple transaction.
“You…” Ethan breathed between broken laughter, his voice trembling. “You want to marry me?”
Damien did not react. Not even a flicker of emotion crossed his face.
It was then that Ethan’s laughter began to die, the sound fading into nothing as cold realization took its place. Damien wasn’t joking. He wasn’t smiling or mocking him, nor was he impatient or irritated. He was serious. Completely and utterly serious. The truth of it sent cold fear crawling down Ethan’s spine, tightening around his chest until it became difficult to breathe.
Ethan shook his head immediately, panic rising within him. “No… no, that’s…” His voice cracked under the weight of his fear and confusion. “I can’t.”
Damien’s eyes narrowed slightly, and he repeated the single word, “you Can’t?” His voice was calm, but it carried quiet pressure, forcing Ethan to confront the weight of his refusal.
Ethan swallowed hard, his fingers curling into fists against the cold concrete floor as though anchoring himself. “I’m not gay,” he said quickly, instinctively, the words leaving his mouth like a shield he hoped would protect him from whatever this was.
Silence followed.
Damien simply stared at him, his gaze unreadable, as though Ethan had said something insignificant. There was no surprise, no anger or disappointment, to suggest Ethan’s answer had affected him at all. For the first time, Ethan felt completely exposed. Not because of his injuries or the humiliation of his imprisonment, but because this man was looking at him as though his refusal didn’t matter.
Then, slowly, Damien smirked.
“I’m not interested in you,” he said calmly.
The words struck Ethan with unexpected force. Relief came first, immediate and instinctive. But it was quickly followed by humiliation, sharp and bitter. Damien took a slow step forward, his polished shoes echoing softly against the concrete floor, his presence alone enough to make the air feel heavier.
“Do not misunderstand,” Damien continued, his voice cold and precise. “This marriage is not about attraction.”
“It is about utility.”
Ethan’s breathing grew uneven under the weight of those words. Damien crouched slightly, bringing himself closer to Ethan’s level, his composure unshaken, his authority absolute.
“You have something I need,” Damien said.
Ethan frowned weakly, confusion mixing with exhaustion and pain. “I have nothing,” he replied hoarsely.
Damien’s smirk deepened, his cold eyes never leaving Ethan’s face.
“You have your name.”
You are Ethan Vale,” Damien continued. “The legitimate son of the Vale family.”
The words felt like knives twisting into old wounds.
“That name still holds power,” Damien said quietly. “Power your uncle was so desperate to steal that he framed you for murder.”
Ethan’s eyes widened.
“How”
Damien raised a hand slightly, silencing him without touching him.
“I know everything,” Damien said.
The confidence in his voice left no room for doubt.
“I know Stanley Vale betrayed you. I know your brother helped him. And I know exactly how they destroyed your life.”
Ethan’s chest tightened painfully as he said “It doesn't still explain why you want to get married to me”.
Well it's Because,” Damien said, standing tall, his body radiating hatred, he continued “Your uncle Stanley has wronged me and I need your help to make him pay as you are the key for my Revenge “.
The key?” Ethan whispered, disbelief and fear clashing inside him.
“Yes,” Damien said simply. “You are the heir to the Vale legacy. Your blood, your name, your influence all of it matters. You exist in the perfect position to help me dismantle the Hale empire. And in exchange… you survive. You leave this prison alive. Perhaps even stronger than before.”
Ethan’s body shook. Fear made his mind race, but exhaustion and powerlessness made his body still. “You… you want me to… help you… destroy my own family?”.
Damien chuckled “Family, you say?, the same people that put you here and left you abandoned?”, his eyebrows raised as he looked at Ethan in amusement. The words hit Damien like a dagger in the chest but it was the truth.
Damien’s gaze lingered on him a moment longer. “Think carefully, Ethan Vale, Time is not on your side.”He did not wait for a response.
As far as Damien was concerned, the offer had been made. Whether Ethan accepted or refused was simply a matter of time.
Damien turned and began walking toward the door, his polished shoes echoing against the cold concrete floor. The door opened, Ethan's breathing grew uneven as panic and desperation clawed at his chest. He knew what awaited him if Damien walked out of that door and never returned. More beatings, humiliation and endless suffering in this hell disguised as a prison. His lips parted.
“I accept.”Damien stopped,His cold eyes fell on Ethan once more, I’ll marry you,” Ethan repeated, now understanding that anything was better than the hell hole he was in now, even making a deal with the devil.
As Anastasia was dragged out of the hotel, she was immediately swarmed by a wall of reporters pushing microphones into her face."Ms. Anastasia, is it true you’re obsessed with Damien Blackwood?""Are you the one who posted that video of him, ma'am?""How many weeks will you be serving in prison? Ma'am, please answer!"Anastasia was already completely overwhelmed by the humiliation Damien had just put her through. The barrage of noise and flashing lights sent her straight from sensory overload into sheer, unadulterated rage. Even though Officer Richmond tried to keep the crowd back, the situation was rapidly spiraling out of control."Please do not ask the suspect any questions! Make way, please!" Richmond yelled, trying to clear a path.Unable to take it for another second, Anastasia snapped. "Yes, you bastards, yes!" she screamed, her voice cracking with fury. "I did everything you said! Am I the first? No! And I'm damn sure not going to be the last, so leave me the hell alone!"The
Dimitri smirked as he held Ethan by the neck. "Try me."As he pressed the knife directly against Ethan's neck, the guests gasped. Harold, already under immense stress, nearly lost his mind seeing Dimitri about to slit a man's throat.Harold shouted, "You bastard, what are you doing? Let him go this instant! Have you lost your mind?"Dimitri heard his father's shout, but he didn't turn around. Keeping his eyes fixed on Damien, he replied to Harold, "I can't, Father! They're taking my child from me. This is the only way I can make this devil surrender.""At least pierce his skin a bit. Let's see some blood so we can believe you," Tae chimed in with a mischievous grin.Tae had noticed Damien and Ethan together earlier at the event. Now that Dimitri claimed Damien would sacrifice himself for this man, Tae was eager to see if Dimitri would actually draw blood. He wanted to test just how far his grandson would go for Ethan.Harold turned to Tae in disbelief. "What are you saying, Commander?
The police officer nodded at Damien before stepping forward. He took out the arrest warrant and read it aloud."Ms. Anastasia Banks, you are hereby under arrest for trespassing on private property and for posting Mr. Damien Blackwood's private nude photos without his consent."Anastasia's entire body trembled as she heard the charges against her. Fear consumed her. Her mind went blank. How was she going to survive this?Harold still refused to back down. If he couldn't intimidate Damien, then he would intimidate the police officers instead. He cleared his throat, trying to sound dominant as he stared at the officer's badge. "Colonel Richmond, what do you think will happen if you arrest the granddaughter of a former commander?"The police officer froze. Harold smiled, thinking he had intimidated him. But Harold was completely wrong. Richmond felt nothing but disgust for him."To think you were once in the military," Colonel Richmond said. "People like you are disgusting and ruin our re
Anastasia's face turned pale with fear when she saw the police officers waiting for her. Trembling, she hid behind her father. "Daddy, please don't let them take me!" she begged.Dimitri’s fatherly instincts kicked in immediately. He yelled at Damien, "You are not taking my daughter anywhere, you psychopath! What did she ever do to you?"Damien looked bored and shook his head in frustration. "Are you really that slow? Can't you figure it out?"When Dimitri still looked confused, Damien sighed. "Fine, I'll tell you..."Before he could continue, a woman's voice suddenly interrupted him."Wait! I know why you want to arrest her."Damien turned toward the voice and raised an eyebrow at the blonde woman. He had noticed her earlier, He remembered that she had been the only one openly speaking against Anastasia from the very beginning. Whoever this woman was, it was obvious she hated Anastasia. Damien didn't care in the slightest. If her hatred helped him achieve his goal, then he had no rea
Damien continued, "As I was saying, a video surfaced of me and a certain man kissing."Silence instantly descended over the guests. Uneasy murmurs rippled through the crowd before dying just as quickly as it started.Of course, they had all seen the video, but who would be bold enough to admit it or mention it to Damien's face? No one dared.Damien knew that.A dark chuckle escaped his lips as his gaze swept across the silent crowd."What's wrong?" he asked mockingly. "Don't pretend for my sake. I know every single one of you had one thing or another to say about that video. But now that I'm standing right in front of you, you've all suddenly lost your voices?"His voice boomed through the hall, causing the guests in the front row to flinch.Dimitri's patience had long since run out. Damien had already insulted both him and Anastasia. Once upon a time, Dimitri had admired Damien and even dreamed of having him as a son-in-law, but that admiration had completely vanished. At this point,
Kristen's eyes widened as he realized what video was playing. "Wait, isn't that...?"Ethan moved closer so he could see clearly. He wasn't mistaken; the decorations in the mansion gave it away. He remembered choosing that exact decoration in the video with Anna for his graduation party. "The Manor... this was the night I hooked up with Damien."Kristen gasped. "Damn! Does that mean Anastasia was the one who posted the video?"He couldn't believe it, but all the signs were there, especially her crazy obsession with Damien. Still, he couldn't figure out her logic. What was she trying to achieve by posting it? Wouldn't that just let everyone know Damien and Ethan were together?Ethan's expression remained unreadable. "No, let's not jump to conclusions yet. The video is still playing."Kristen looked at Ethan as if he wanted to slap some sense into him. "Are you serious right now? We have all the evidence we need! She did it."Ethan ignored Kristen's outburst, keeping his eyes glued to th
Ethan woke up late, his head groggy from the late-night gaming session Leo had forced him into. Leo reminded him so much of his younger brother, Norman; it had been a long time since Ethan had felt so... human. He rushed to freshen up and was driven to school. As he stepped out of the car, a crowd
Ethan spent the entire day drifting in and out of sleep. The silence of the mansion was a jarring luxury compared to the screaming halls of Metropolis Prison. He was grateful to Damien ,he knew Damien had saved him but the mystery of Damien’s agenda loomed over him like a shadow, he may be naive bu
Ethan was awake the next morning as Anna knocked on the door. He quickly sat up and Anna entered. She greeted him good morning and told him to come downstairs for breakfast; she added that if he couldn't walk, she'd be glad to assist him, but he politely declined, saying he felt better that Dr. Ric
