Murmurings filled the room, everyone speaking at the same time. I tuned out the words of the elders, the voices in my head erupting without warning. My whole life was changing—I could feel the ruins spreading.
Eric shouldn't have done this to me. I watched him intently. He was staring back, and no signs of remorse could be seen on his face.
The man before me held himself with pride as if he had done the right thing.
I pointed my finger his way, lips trembling. Yet no sound came out. It was as though words disappeared the instant I needed them most.
Tears trickled down, the salty taste touching my mouth. Eric staggered forward. He crouched to where I sat, took a handful of my hair gently before tugging it hard.
"You should have stayed still when I asked you to. Since you so badly want the bond to be broken, then I will gladly oblige," Eric said icily.
I whimpered.
"I, Eric Valen, Alpha of the Nightshade Pack, accept your rejection!"
Cries of agony filled the air. The bond that had been pleading to remain tethered was now completely broken. My wolf couldn't help ease the pain because it was my human body that had been bonded to Eric.
Pain seeped through every fiber of my being. I was convulsing, almost at the point of losing my mind. Being an omega with pain tolerance close to that of a human wasn't an easy feat. I hadn't even gotten over it when Eric called the guards on me.
"Lock this ingrate in the dark cell. No food should be given to her, and she should have no contact with anybody until further notice," he commanded.
The intensity of the pain made it impossible for me to move.
He was determined to ruin my life forever. The guards yanked me without restraint and forcefully dragged me out of the courtroom like I was nothing.

The guards threw me into the cell. No matter how many times I pleaded with them to free me, it fell on deaf ears.
I grabbed the leg of one of the guards. "Please, let me go," I pleaded, hoping I would find favor in his sight.
He pushed me away and stepped on my hand before spitting on me. "For a defect like you who paraded around the pack like she owned it? You plead to be free? Over my dead body." His voice was laced with venom. I could hear the disdain.
It was at that moment I realized I had nobody in this pack—not even my parents could come to my rescue because I had disowned them for a man they didn't want me to be with.
It was as though they knew all of this would happen.
If only I had listened to them—maybe my life wouldn't have turned upside down.
I could have lived a life as an omega, a simple one with few friends and still had my family with me. But I was blinded by desire. I mean, Eric was the only man who wanted me even when my wolf had been cruelly defiled by those monsters.
The memory was hazy—I couldn't remember much, but I knew I had pleaded to be free. Yet one of them marked my wolf without marking my human form. It was a forbidden act to do that, and I fully knew what the consequences were.
Eric came like a knight in shining armor. He saw me and helped me. He promised to protect me and ensure that no one would hear about the ordeal that had happened to me.
His words echoed in my ears. "I promise, Nyra, I would never tell anyone," he said and locked his pinky finger with mine to seal the promise.
Yet he broke his promise.
I wailed, hitting my chest as hard as I could.
It was all my fault. I should have given him a child.
I was a fool—an idiot to think love was enough.
Maybe if I could plead with Eric, he could take me back. I should have stayed clearheaded throughout. I didn't know that my anger would lead to me being locked up.
I scrambled off the floor. The room was dark. There was no way I could see anything, and I heard no sound. Only my whimpering could be heard. This place was far away from everything.
A thought flashed in my head. What if I could just mindlink Eric? He might change his mind.
Though I was no longer his mate, I was still a member of his pack. Mindlinking him could work. A glint of hope shimmered within me.
I tried multiple times to reach Eric, but it seemed like he had blocked me from having any conversation with him. I slumped my shoulders in defeat. I felt so hungry and tired, yet no food had been brought my way.
‘Moon goddess, come to my aid, please,’ I muttered inwardly, before closing my eyes.
I was about to drift to sleep when I heard the echo of footsteps. The scent wafting through my nose was familiar. I had made up my mind to ignore that bitch. After all, she had gotten what she wanted.
‘how about you plead with her to free you from here? If she agrees, you can escape,’ my subconscious said, and it did make sense.
The rattling of keys echoed before the door creaked open. Though it was dark in the room, it would be easier for Alessia to see me because of her werewolf abilities. With my wolf dormant, it was impossible for me.
I was grateful when she lit a candle. A sinister smile was plastered on her face, that malicious glint unmistakable.
"So nice to see you again, Luna," she mocked, eyes burning with disgust.
I clenched my fist, sucked in whatever pride I had, and fell to my knees.
"Please, Alessia, help me!" I pleaded. Even if it meant sucking her toes just so I could be free, I would be willing to do so.
Hysterical laughter filled the cell. "You—on your knees begging me. Never thought I would see the day," she taunted.
"I promise to do anything you wish, even if it means being your slave," I implored.
She bent down, the tip of her fingers on my jaw as she raised my head so I could look at her. "Interesting, Nyra, but I don't want you to be my maid. That would be too nice, my love. I want you to perish here, Nyra. I want you to hear me scream as I push my baby out. I want you to hear the cries of my child in your pathetic cell. I want you to yearn to see nature while you rot here. I want you to be here when my child is claimed as the next Alpha. Everything will happen while you are in this dark cell." Her voice was soft, each word coated with brutality.
My eyes reddened, and my fist clenched as she tightened her grip on my chin. Blood dripped. I tried to free myself from her hold, but Alessia was stronger. As I fought harder, she kicked me.
I grunted. Tears clouded my eyes.
"You bitch!" I spat at her.
Her face twisted in fury. She slapped me so hard my face smashed against the wall, and everything went black.
~MIKAEL~Electricity surged through my body and my eyes flew open. A sharp headache struck instantly; I brought my hands to my head and winced."Help!!!" My mate's cry tore through the air. I scrambled to my feet, ready to reach her — but it was too late. Sorin had driven the same ice blade she had used on me into her stomach."No!!!" I screamed. The sound sent shockwaves through the forest; trees cracked and split. Zera's binding broke free.Sorin wore a smug expression as he released my mate. Her body fell toward the ground — I launched into the sky, my wings unfurling. They were not black, but golden, streaked with black.I caught Nyra before she hit the earth; her eyes were shut. Rage blazed within me. I wanted to destroy Sorin.Carefully, I set her down beside O'Lean and descended. This man hadn't transformed because he couldn't."Excellent — now I can fully drink your blood and reclaim my celestial power," he said, smiling at me.Everything fell into place. It had never been Nyr
~MIKAEL~The moment she stabbed me with that ice blade, I knew it might be the end. Her first strike had already caused so much damage. Blood spilling from my lips, I heard her cry; I tried to fight the darkness closing in on me.But no matter how hard I tried, it felt hopeless.I sank into the unknown; darkness clouded my eyes, and it felt as though words did not exist in this realm. So this was what death felt like — the hollowness that settled within could terrify even the mightiest of men.I could not die like this. Not with my mate struggling in Sorin's grip.I fought against the darkness. Then a sensation tingled — something soft yet sharp. I thought the feeling had passed, but it came again, sharper this time.I winced, uncertain where it was coming from. I felt my spirit pulling away from my body; there were now three versions of me.One I recognized as my wolf, and Nuriel — my beast that I had tamed — was in shackles, eyes closed as if he had been gone for days."What's happe
~NYRA~"Sorin," I called, hiding behind his back for safety. I had just driven my fingers into Mikael's chest. I didn't know what had come over me — everything had gone blank when he set Eric on fire.Mikael had killed him a second time, and I simply couldn't help it."What are you doing, Nyra? Come here," Mikael urged, his tone laced with fear. I wondered if he knew what kind of creature Sorin was.Did he know who he was dealing with?"You've done well, Nyra, but you may have to finish it — he is still breathing," Sorin said. His tone was cold, devoid of any emotion. My gaze went to his back. I truly could not read him."Godfather, how could you?" Mikael's voice pulled me back to reality. He looked pale, blood staining his clothes and lips. What shocked me was the look in his eyes — as if he had been betrayed. He knew Sorin. He had called him godfather.I stepped carefully away from behind Sorin, trying to assess the situation."Don't give me that look. I gave you time to bring her t
~MIKAEL~Zera told me about an abandoned castle near the border of the werewolf kingdom. I wouldn't have paid it much attention, but she revealed that it had a strong barrier over it, which worried me.What if my mate had been taken there? So far, there had been no suspicious activity from the council — perhaps they were waiting for a year to pass before making their move. I came with only Natalia and O'Lean, two people I trusted deeply.I could have brought Josie, but she had been sulking ever since that night. We had been searching the woods for the castle; Zera was working on breaking down the barrier, which would take some time."Are you sure she'll be here?" O'Lean inquired."I don't know, but we have to keep looking. Hopefully we'll find a clue," I said. We kept moving, pushing leaves aside and scanning the surroundings.A sound echoed through the woods. My eyes widened. "Did you hear that?"Both of them nodded. "Someone is here. Let's split up — I'll go straight in while you tw
~AUTHOR'S POV~O'Lean grabbed the cotton swab to clean Natalia's injury. The scowl on his face showed how annoyed he was, yet he didn't utter a word. Once he was done with the cotton swab, he dropped it on the tray and picked up the gauze to wrap around her injured hand."I don't like how you treat yourself that way," he said, arranging the first aid kit. She scooted closer to the edge of the bed, eyes drawn to his every movement. His annoyance seemed to disturb her. She dropped her gaze when he looked at her.O'Lean sighed. "It might look like I am complaining, but the truth is it scares me to see you push yourself this far," he confessed, raking a hand through his hair.Chewing her bottom lip, Natalia couldn't tell him that the nightmares had returned — that ever since the night she had almost killed him, those voices had come back in full force, both at night and in the morning. They kept pestering her at every turn.Noticing her distress, he strode towards the bed and sat close to
~JOSIE~The maiden brought in some delicacies for me and my father. This place was still just as I had left it. My hands reached for the silver cup; I pulled it close to my nose to inhale the sweet, savory metallic tang of blood that I had missed."She was a year-old human," Sani said, his deep red eyes focused on me, a proud smile etched on his face as I drank the contents."Why did you call me here?" I said, going straight to the point. I had never wanted to heed his call — if it hadn't been for what was going on in the pack, I wasn't sure I would have come.I closed my eyes in pure ecstasy; this one was definitely a sweet child. I only wished I had been given the privilege to drink from her directly, but Pa wouldn't allow it until there was a deal between us."How about we enjoy ourselves a little before getting to the main matter?" He raised his brows. I gritted my teeth and smiled back at him.I picked up the jar filled with blood and poured it into my empty cup. I took out a lar
~NYRA~The tremors in my hands and fingers were uncontrollable, my heart thrashing so loud I could hear it in my ears. I felt a compulsion to look back as my feet scurried through the corridor quickly.'Nyra, it's not too late to go back to your room,' Emilia warned.Late? When I haven't gotten int
~NYRA~"The full moon would appear today and the rites would begin at dawn," someone said in a hushed tone. My ears perked up, eager to know what the rites were about.Judging from their scent, they were not werewolves and their smelling ability was little to nothing. Unless I make a sound, they wo
NYRAI staggered back as soon as I was able to overcome the strong hold of his gaze. My hands flew to my mouth as the memories faded slowly. My lips quivered, and yet I shook my head vehemently. Mikael's gaze was still fixed on mine, only he had a haunted smile on. It was still hard for me to belie
~NYRA~As soon as the door of my assigned room was closed shut, I threw my fist into the air. My body was fuming with so much anger, how dare he?How dare Mikael mess with my memories? How dare he take away something so important out of my life, disappear and then appear like everything is normal?
