INICIAR SESIÓN011
LIES NOVA "Two, three, four, five... I think this one is perfect." Chloe grins, as she stares at the three outfits that she's laid out on the bed. "What do you think?" I shake my head, not looking up from my phone. If she asks me one more question about her clothes again, I might actually leave her here and go and join the boys downstairs in their video game. "Come on, Nova. You've been glued to the phone for an hour." I finally look up at her. Yeah, she's definitely exaggerating. I haven't been here for an hour. I sigh, dropping my phone on the desk beside me and standing up so I can take a proper look at the clothes. "Will you promise to leave me alone after I help you pick out an outfit?" She nods rapidly which is weird. But still, I take a look at her choices. Hot damn. Her dresses are pretty good looking. I'd kill to get a blue dress like the deep blue that's in the middle. Chloe and I look nothing alike with our hair and eyes colour but we have the same body build. I still remember wearing most of her dresses last time when we visited. Nothing's changed, I see. Without thinking, I point at the blue dress. "The one would look amazing on you." I say. She folds her arms, looking at the dress and then at my face. A small smile spreads across her face. No. It better not be what I'm thinking. "I thought so too." She nods. "Chloe no." I step back. "What is it you plan on doing?" She shrugs. "Mom said you've been too busy on your phone these past few days and..." I frown. Aunt Joan didn't. Of course she can say that. What the hell does she expect me to do? I did a bad thing. I did the worst thing I could ever think of and instead of owning up to my mistakes and facing whatever it is I could have faced, my mom hid me here. It's a school week and I can't just jump into the school my cousins go to. And I certainly cannot be here and be ignorant. I mean... I need to know what's happening at school. Mom advised I take out my SIM card and stuff and I did just that. But I got a new one, thanks to Marcus and I rejoined the Ridgeview School Group on W******p. They can't blame me for staying glued to my phone for the tiniest bit of information. If I wasn't so nosy, I wouldn't know that Enzo's been preparing for a speech that his lawyers gave drawn. A speech that'll paint me the enemy and my brother as well. "Nova..." I blink. "So what? Your mom has prohibited me from using my phone?" "Mom would never." Then what? "She just thinks we should go out more. Marcus and Kol can drive us... It's not a party. It's just shopping. We'll get nice things and..." "Where?" I ask immediately. She presses her lips together. "It's not anywhere near your home. It's just... a little bit close to your school." She uses her fingers to emphasize the meaning of small. I don't even know what to say to her at this point. I'm guessing her mom knows nothing about this. It's her idea. It's hers. I can also sense Kol behind this. Marcus wouldn't know. He's the most mature. He wouldn't even think about it. "My mom brought me here for a reason, Chloe." She starts nodding. "And I know. We'll be quick. We'll be as fast as you can think of. Come on, you know how much I want to see the dresses they have in the..." "Dresses?" I ask, my eyes widening. Oh, she cannot be serious. She just said dresses. So this is about dresses? She's willing to drag me into the fiery pits of hell that my brother has unleashed in waiting just because of some dresses. "Are you being serious right now?" "I need to pick out something for..." I hold a hand and that shuts her up. "You have cute dresses. I don't own half the clothes that you own. I'm sorry, Chloe. I'm not going with you." "It's fine. I get you." She says. Even though she's not frowning, her countenance has dropped. "I'll just tell Marcus to take me." She says. Yeah, she should do that. "Do be careful, okay?" She fakes a smile. "Yes. I just pray I don't run into Noah and mistakenly tell him you're here." Fuck you, I almost tell her but I inhale, watching her realize how silly she just sounded. "That was a bad joke, obviously." She says. "It's not funny, Chloe." She nods. "I'm sorry." I watch her leave and then I take my phone and start scrolling through the group chat again. It's not like I have anything doing. It's funny how time passes while you're busy on your phone. It's been an hour since Chloe left. My back is sore and I can feel how stiff my spine is. Staying on the same spot for a long time will do that to you. The door rattles and I look up to see Marcus, holding a phone to his ear. I didn't know he was home. I thought he had driven Chloe to get the clothes she wanted to get. "What do you mean she's there?" He asks, frowning. "But how?" Now I'm curious. I sit up in the bed, looking at Marcus whose phone conversation is clearly upsetting him. "I don't know what the hell you're talking about." Marcus ends the call and looks at me. "What's happened?" I ask. "Chloe told you she was going to get clothes?" I nod. "She said she'd ask you to drive her." Marcus tilts his head. "Mom said nobody leaves. She didn't ask me shit. Kol isn't home too." "Is that bad?" "You know who called me just now? Noah. And he's seen them. Your brother is on his way here with my sister and brother." What the actual fuck?NOVAAs much as I need that hug from Ava right now, I'm so thrown off by what she says preceding it. That she's not supposed to? What the hell is that supposed to mean? "I don't..." I raise my hand, shaking my head. "I don't want that hug right now."She twists her lips, looking everywhere but at me. Her eyes are roaming around random things and she won't even look at me. "So, what do you want?" "What I want is for you to explain what you meant by that statement. You're not supposed to? I don't understand what you mean by that."Ava does a low whistle. "I don't want you to be upset about this. No hard feelings. But my mom saw the scandal." Oh no. This better not be what I think it is. I don't want to hear shit about Ava's mom thinking that I'm trash when I haven't done anything wrong at all."She warned me about you and...""I don't know what to say."Ava shrugs. "Then you don't have to say anything.""No, I think I do. I think you are the most manipulative, two-faced, bitch I've
NOVAMy mouth opens, whilst my eyes are moving, they finally settle on Bethany who's behind Caleb now. She winks at me, mouthing a 'Make sure you kiss him' before retreating and leaving me with Caleb."Um..." I glance down at my legs, breathing in a little. Sure, I like the way he's not laughing with the girl from earlier and he's with me now. But then... I don't like the way Bethany pushed me on him and now I don't have any fucking words to say. It's more like I forgot what to say. What will I possibly say to him in this moment? "Speechless?" Caleb tilts his head.I let out a nervous laugh. "Oh no. I just... My brother asked me to stay away from you." I say the one rational thing I can think of."Did he now?" Caleb doesn't look surprised one bit."Yes." I nod, while I'm still racking my brain for anything to say. Bethany said to flirt. I don't know how to fucking flirt. I'm not a flirt. Never have been."Look, we're both adults right?" Caleb asks."In Highschool." I put in. That mak
NOVAAfter what happened with my mom and Noah last night, and after the text I sent Caleb... I don't know. I'm feeling pretty good about myself this morning. I'm not even fucking joking. I fucking devoured the avocado toast mom made me for breakfast and I'm actually humming my head right now to a rap music blasting through mom's speaker in her car."You feeling good baby?" Mom looks at me. Her smile is infectious. I return it with mine, nodding my head and moving my leg to the beat of the song."That's what I'm talking about. You should feel this good everyday. I like the energy today. Anything different?" I don't know if I should tell her or not. I basically don't tell my mom everything, but I do tell her some basic things that I feel she's supposed to know. Like this. I'm sure she'd be super excited for me. I just... I just don't trust her enough to keep it from Noah and Enzo or Dad. Emphasis on my father. He detests extracurriculars and would make me change schools if he knew abo
NOVA"Noah, no. I will not have to talk to your sister like that, not when I'm standing in front of you.""But mom...""No." "She's fucking with a guy she shouldn't be around at all. He's bad news. If you care about your daughter you'd tell her to stay away from that guy."Mom looks at me, and I can see the doubt that flashes across her face. She's skeptical of whether she should ask me anything about what Noah is sprouting. "Ask her. She'll tell you." Noah probes mom."Nova, what does he mean?" I resist the urge to say something disrespectful. It's hard... but I can. "Caleb is my friend." "You don't know him.""I know him well enough to know the kind of person he is. And don't talk to me, both of you.""Nova, stop. Don't be rude to your...""I'm tired of everyone treating me like trash just because I made a mistake. I don't care about the others at school. I care about my own brother! He's been treating me so badly and I didn't even do shit to him! It was just Enzo and I apologiz
NOVA"He'll do it. He's crazy like that." Liam grins, winking at me from his sprawl on the sofa. Not that I believe Liam or anything, but for some reason, I don't want to be here anymore. "I think that's my cue to leave," I say, pushing myself up from the plush cushions of the couch, a slight sigh escaping my lips.Caleb's eyes widen slightly. "I was joking," he says quickly, taking a step toward me, his hands raising in a placating gesture."I know," I answer, giving him a small smile that doesn't quite reach my eyes. "I just think it's late and I don't want my mom to be worried." A convenient excuse, but not entirely untrue.Caleb relaxes, nodding in understanding. He runs a hand through his hair. "Let me drop you off then."He gets up, tossing the unopened first-aid kit onto the cushion beside Liam, who simply watches us with an amused smirk, already reaching for the remote."Goodbye Nova. Do you think I'll be seeing you anytime soon?" He asks as I get to the door.I shrug, feignin
NOVA"What the hell?" My voice is a whisper even though I know Caleb is on a call and is a little bit far from where we're standing."What do you mean... what the hell? The task? The one I gave to you? The offer to be a..."I wave a hand in front of Bethany's face. "Yes, yes. I know all about that. I don't need a reminder. I just don't... I don't get what you mean by that?"Bethany folds her hands, glaring at me. "What I mean?" She repeats.I heave a sigh. "I mean I do get you but... I just...""Nova Graham! Are you going to talk to Caleb, make him fall for you and break his heart? The sisters want to see if you are a material for..."I can't with this girl right now. Caleb is still pacing but I'm sure at any moment from now he'll turn and see us. What if his call ends now and he walks over to us and hears what Bethany is saying?"Look, this is bad timing." I mutter."Why are you murmuring? He can't hear...""I don't care. He's my friend." I say, my frown deepening.Bethany smirks. "O
