Mag-log inI was just trying to get milk from the fridge. That’s all. Just milk. My hands were full and I was tired and I wasn’t supposed to be in this kitchen at all. Then the door slammed shut behind me. A hand came down on the fridge above my head. I felt the heat simmer through my nightwear and his voice, low to my ear. "I’m hungry." I dried up. His blue eyes were right there when I turned, darker than I’d ever seen them. Deep and burning. Like he hadn’t slept in days and I was the only thing that could fix it. My throat went dry. "W-what do you want to eat?" His gaze lingered to my mouth. He said the one word that ruined me. "You." And with that, he kissed me like he was drowning. Hot, desperate. His breath, his hands, everything about him was fire and I was burning with him. For a second I forgot who he was. Who I was. Who he belonged to. But he doesn’t belong to me. He never did. And i should end this but I don’t want to stop. *** Three years I was Luna but my mate sold my back. I went to his wedding in red to take what's mind but left in handcuffs. They poisoned me, called me traitor and buried me. Until the Crown Prince woke from a two-year coma and carried my dying body to the royal clinic with a gun in his hand, claiming me his. Everyone wants me dead, he was my saving grace but I was wrong, he let me go.

I doubted if I brushed my teeth before storming out of my mansion for the council hall.
The first thing that greeted me that morning wasn’t coffee. It was papers.
The words still tainted my head TRANSFER OF ASSETS. SIGNED: VINE KEANE.
It had my signature at the end.
But...but this wasn't the project papers. This wasn't the "new hunting grounds" my mate, alpha Jose told me about.
My hands were shaking as three weeks ago, in his office, he'd kissed my forehead.
“Just sign here, love. It’s for the new project. To save us from debt. Trust me, okay?”
Trust me.
It resounded in my ears like a mistake as all my hair stood up on my skin.
My wolf, crescent was curled in a corner of my head, she was whining.
"We were stupid" she grunt "we believed him"
My fingers certainly bled out from the several attempts of calling everyone I knew just to get to him, but it was switched off.
Again!
He told me he was setting up the project which was three weeks ago.
I'd kept my wolf silent as soon as my feet reached the court hall upstairs.
The atmosphere was charged, I'd smelt their fury mixed with old woods.
My ears heard them before I even opened the doors.
Shouts, tables banging, that my heart jumped to my throat.
“—Where is she?"
“—HE SOLD THEM! HE SOLD OUR PEOPLE!”
With trembling hands, I dumped my phone in my pocket because phones weren't allowed here, to preserve the sacred culture and avoid tapping.
Pandemonium.
The elders were on their feet before I'd even cross the door, papers were thrown on the floor.
My lips quivered to even say a word because this felt like a horrible nightmare I'd want to wake up from.
Elder Morris, the head had his hands in his hair pacing. “40 wolves! FORTY! They took the children too!”
Elder Rosa, the strategist was crying... actually tears. "My grandson was on that list. My baby grandson!”
Two younger wolves were arguing in the corner with their fangs out. “We should’ve seen this coming!” “Don’t you dare blame us!”
The air reeked of sweat, fear, and old wood.
By the door, two council guards stood stiff. Their eyes forward, pretending not to see.
The council seal on the wall looked cracked like even it knew of the chaos.
And in the middle of it all—he was there, not Jose, but the actual him, Delta bariston, the substitute ruler of the northern rogues who runs errands if I must say but still possesses power.
He was sitting calmly, feet up on the elder's table, scar on his jaw and dark eyes that absorb lights.
Two of his men stood behind him, arms crossed, grinning, like they were watching a show.
Everyone went quiet the moment their eyes landed on me.
The way their heads turned was petrifying because they had accusations, hates, written all over their faces.
Ice poured down through my stomach. My pulse throbbed too loud that I heard nothing.
Breathe.
“You,” Elder Morris spat, his face was red. “Explain this!”
I held my head high, my fingers rattled with rage, panic but I'd buried them in my pockets.
“I came for answers,” I forced the words out like my world hadn't burn to ashes “Not accusations.”
Rosa hurled a paper at my feet. "PROPERTY TRANSFER. 40 WOLVES. PAID IN FULL."
My signature again.
“Answers?” she wailed “Your name is on a slave contract, vine!”
They'd call me by my name because when I married Jose, I signed over my alpha rights to him for the good of the pack.
I picked the paper up. Everyone in this room had it, a constant reminder that I sold us.
Inside, my chest compressed until I couldn't breathe. This can't be real. This isn't real
“This isn’t what he told me it was,” I stated just to quell their angst. “He said it was for a new project. To save us from debt.”
A slow condemning laughter interrupted and trailing my gaze, I realized it was Briston.
He had stood up and then circled me like I was a prey “Did he now, Luna?”
Briston stopped in front of me, invading my space and I'd smelt the blood on him.
“And you believed him? Just signed whatever he put in front of you?”
He clicked his tongue, bending low to my height and his rot stench lingered around my nose. “That’s not trust. That’s stupidity.”
Every muscle in me went rigid but Crescent was snarling behind my teeth. Don’t give him the satisfaction.
“I trusted my husband,” I tamed between my teeth, held his gaze. “That’s what mates do. Or did you forget what that word means, Briston"
His smile vanished and his face went blank. I'd saw those eyes darken as he didn't yell, he just got quiet.
Briston stepped back, dragging his gaze down me like I was something he owned and was deciding the price for.
Then he snickered amused.
“Careful, Luna,” he noted. “Keep talking to me like that and I’ll start thinking you want me to claim you myself.”
His men snorted as he leaned in again, this time his voice just had me listening.
“You know what’s funny? I was going to. Thought I’d take what your husband threw away and make you mine. I'd teach you what real obedience looks like.”
I turned cold, I heard the gasps of my elders for once but I crossed my arms. I kept my face still while my heart tripped over itself.
"Dogs don't get to say that because you're just a substitute" I reminded. "And I'd never be yours" Briston folded his fists, I'd thought he'd hit me but he constrain himself.
His men snorted as he straightened, grinning again like nothing happened, like he hadn't just tried to gut me.
“Used goods,” one of his men muttered.
“Can’t even read,” the other added.
I turned on them "You're in my council hall. Show some respect"
My voice stuttered on the last word. I hated that he had to hear it.
Gods. Don't cry. Don't you dare! My wolf hunts brooding.
My elders were quiet, like they were anticipating.
Briston grinned. “Respect? For the woman who sold her own pack?”
His eyes stared at everyone except me. “Your husband traded you people to clear his gambling debts. And to make himself eligible.”
The words didn't register at first. Sweat covered me like it rained.
“Eligible for what?”
“For the Supreme Alpha’s daughter, sweetheart.” His lips curved upward “Wedding’s at 12. Today. She’s younger. Fertile. Not like you.”
My crossed arms fell, my breath hitched and right there, my wolf dropped inside me, her hackles fell like we never expected.
"Married?" I squeezed out but he'd shoved a tab to my face, like he'd blind me with it to see for myself.
It was real...I'd saw cade, on the national TV with wema, the supreme alpha's daughter standing close to him and smiling as they announce their wedding.
When did all these happen? He lied again.
My eyes shook, I couldn't close my mouth and everything blurred before me.
As if I didn’t bleed for Jose. As if I didn’t pray to the Moon Goddess every night.
As if it was my fault. Younger. Fertile.
These were words used for breeding stock.
Three years of dinners with Jose's hand on my back "we'll try next month"
Three years and my body was the problem? Not him?
The elders detonated like they were waiting for the right moment to spike the fire.
“HE’S GETTING MARRIED?!” Morris roared, his eyes widened.
“TO THE SUPREME ALPHA?!” One of the young members added, his jaw dropped.
Rosa who was leaning to a pillar, pulled out.
“This is treason!”
Papers flew, someone punched a fist to the wall. Yet, I was invisible because a knife had just been stabbed in my chest.
“My daughter is on that list!” I couldn't tell who said that.
“We’re ruined because of YOU!”
Fear enveloped me, I was drowning on dry land. I couldn’t breathe.
40 people, the children all because of me.
Nevertheless, I'd stepped forward, into the chaos, because breaking now would worsen the situation.
“ENOUGH!” I snapped “I didn’t know! I was deceived! And I will FIX this!”
Vaben, a new elder, got in my face, his spit hit my cheek. “You cursed us!”
I wiped it off, slow. Stared him down even as my vision blurred.
“Then let me clean it up, Elder. Or are you too busy blaming me to do anything?”
Briston grimanced, he looked like an excited freak watching me speak. “Feisty.”
“Better run, vine. You don’t want to miss the ceremony. Front row seats to your replacement.”
I'd almost suffer a heart ache as the time rings in my head.
He lied again.
Crescent howled inside me, wounded and broken. "He chose her. He sold us for her"
I cleared my throat, fighting back my tears, the pain, the shame and tried to keep them quiet.
No one listened to me, they'd all cussed at me and so my hand reached for the gavel on the alpha's desk podlum.
The loud bang eluded their words and once again, only pointed me as a fault.
"I promise you all" I turned to look at Briston who's grin worsen. "I'd fix it"
So I thought but I became their death.
DuneLight. The first feeling I felt on my skin after waking up from coma. After the dark, after water and after steel twisting. My skin prickled like someone had set the sun on me and trying to open my eyes, my lids felt like sandpaper. How long? Days? Weeks? The last thing I remembered was the wheel jerking in my hands. The ocean was coming up fast at me and my car was going off the cliff because they had vine.Because Dad said "execute the Luna or we execute her family." So I crashed. I chose the water over killing her.The room smelled like antiseptic and old sheets. There were no voices like they'd left me to rot.But she was still there, in my head. Vine. My mate. My Luna.I sat up too fast, ripping off IVs and blood swelled but I didn't care.My legs shook under me, like my muscles were goneMy wolf was quiet. Like he’d been drowning too and hadn’t come up for air yet. "Get up" I told him. "She’s in danger"But I felt nothing just a dull ache behind my eyes. Hastily
VineHe didn't ask questions and my head snapped, my cheek felt like it'd fall apart.I tasted blood too because that slap busted my lips.I would have fallen but the guards caught me like this was the right time to appear."You dare touch my daughter!" He roared, even his voice would cause an earth quake. I spat out blood. "I didn't hurt her""Liar!!" He roared, taking another step. He was taller than me, older, stronger."You embarrassed my family. On my daughter’s wedding day." He grabbed my neck as I gaggled. My feet weren't even touching the floor as I grunt, writhing."You will pay for every drop of her blood."He shoved me aside right where wema was pulled out from and the broken glasses pierced my back.I couldn't tell what next was happening as my head spinned, the silence was eating me up."Arrest her. Now" I heard next and immediately, hands grabbed me, pulling me out."Let me go!!" I struggled. "I didn't cause that! She did it!" I protested writhing out of their hands."J
VineI didn't remember driving, but I knew I found myself at the wedding venue. The gates to the Supreme Alpha’s estate were gold and closed. Two guards in black suits stood in front like walls with Rifles and no smiles.I didn’t have an invite or a plan.I had a red dress, shaking hands, and 40 names on my conscience. The dress clung on me like blood, sleeveless, floor length and the color of warning. I wasn't going to break when I see him.Every guest in their pastels and whites turned when I stepped out of the car to walk the rest. The dress dragged behind me, bleeding against the white flowers and white tents and white lies.Every camera turned at the gate and whispered began certainly wondering why I'd come to steal the show.My heart was pounding so hard but crescent clawed at my chest with three notes."Don't run""Don't bow""Don't cry"I hadn't even gone closer when the first guard blocked me."Invite" I threw my head back, drew in a long breath and said "I don't have one"
