KAZIMIR

I didn’t come through the front door because I knew Maddox would run if he ever heard I was in his shitty club. He would use the chance to sneak away like the slimy frog he was and hide for the next couple of months before my men found him again.

No. I took the back exit, the one reeking of piss and desperation, because I wanted Maddox to piss himself when he saw me. The bastard owed me three million dollars. And tonight? He was going to pay.

The dim hallway swallowed me whole, the bass from the club thumping like a dying heartbeat. I didn’t need light to navigate. My wolf saw everything.

My brother told me not to come, that there were other ways that didn't require violence. But men like Maddox only understood violence. People like him would only respond to certain displays of violence.

Then....

A scent hit me like a bullet to the chest.

Wild and poisonous.

I knew that smell.

I knew it because I’d killed everyone who ever carried it. Everyone who carried that betrayer smell had died at my hands for their crimes against my family.

After ten years, to pick up that peculiar smell again after so long, I was feral.

Before I could react, a body slammed into me. Small and soft. All soft curves and sharp nails. Almost naked, with the fishnet and underwear she was wearing.

She looked up.

And the world fucking stopped.

Dirt brown eyes. Wide. Terrified. Raven black hair that fell across her face in waves and plump lips that looked bruised and red. Alive. She was alive.

No.

It was nearly impossible for her to be alive. How did she survive? She should be dead.

My hand shot out, fisting in her hair before she could bolt. She gasped, her pulse fluttering like a trapped bird under my grip.

Ariel Blondeau.

The only daughter of Alexander Blondeau, the man who murdered my parents in cold blood.

The family I had wiped out for their crimes against mine.

“You,” I snarled.

Her lips parted, probably to beg, then I felt it.

The electric current that charged through me was powered by my hands touching her bare skin.

My skin broke out in a sweat. No. It was impossible.

They say you only feel that unique current when you find your mate. I've heard old werewolves describe it, how it felt, but never have I thought I would feel it. That unique feeling that was a one in a million chance you would find your mate. Your other half.

In all my twenty-eight years of living, I never expected to feel it. Or even find it.

My wolf snarled, but I didn't want to believe it. It just didn't make any sense.

"No" I murmured.

She resisted under my grasp, her body thrashing wildly.

Who the fuck are you?" She exclaimed.

"Kazimir Rossi." I replied.

She stared at me with wide, unbelieving eyes, and then the hallway erupted with shouting.

“Where the fuck did she go?”

“Find her before the boss skins us alive!”

Two of Maddox’s meathead guards rounded the corner, their faces flushed with rage.

Until they saw me.

The bigger one stepped back, his throat bobbing.

I could smell the fear on him, the way he was about to lose control of his bladder.

What an idiot

“M-Mr. Rossi."

I didn’t spare him a glance. My fingers tightened around Ariel’s neck, her pulsing vein slamming against my palm.

Alive. Alive. Alive.

I couldn't fathom how she was alive and in front of me when ten years ago I saw her lay dead on the floor.

How was that possible?

How?

“Tell Maddox I’m here,” I said, my voice low.

The guards didn’t move.

I smiled. All teeth.

They ran.

....................

Maddox’s office smelled like him. Greed and the sour smell of failure. A peculiar looking dirty man whom I should never have done business with in the first place.

Men like Maddox were common in my world, and while I hated working with them, they were a necessary evil.

Cigar smoke. Cheap whiskey. The sour tang of a man who’d sold his soul for pennies. His eyes empty and soulless like his life, devoid of any meaning.

He stood when I walked in, his face draining of colour.

Good.

I loved that he feared me.

Then his gaze flicked to Ariel, still struggling in my grip.

“Kazimir,” he croaked. “I—I didn’t know you were coming. I would have been able to welcome you properly."

“Clearly.” I dragged Ariel forward, her bare feet scraping the floor. “You have been very busy.”

Maddox swallowed. “She’s one of mine. One of the new girls I acquired. She starts work tonight. I can let you have her first for free as a welcoming gift."

Ariel hissed. "I’m not yours...."

My grip tightened. That shut her up.

Maddox licked his lips. "If you just give her back, I can..."

“No.”

The room went silent.

I leaned in, letting my wolf bleed into my voice. "She’s mine now."

Ariel jerked against me. "The hell I am!"

I ignored her, focusing on Maddox. “Consider her your first payment.”

His jaw clenched. "You can’t just..."

I bared my fangs.

Maddox sat down.

................................

The second we were outside, Ariel exploded.

“Let me GO!” She twisted, nails raking down my arm, drawing blood. “You can’t just.... who the fuck do you think you are?!”

I didn’t answer. Just shoved her into the back of my car, climbing in after her.

She lunged for the door.

I caught her by the throat.

Not hard enough to hurt.

Just enough to remind her.

Her breath hitched, her pulse wild under my fingers.

“You’re going to explain two things to me, little wolf,” I murmured.

“One, why you're still breathing.”

Her lips curled. “Go to hell.”

I leaned closer, my mouth brushing her ear.

“And two…”

My canines grazed her skin.

She shuddered.

“Why the fuck you’re my mate.”

ARIEL Dimitri insisted on driving me.I'd tried to refuse. Told him I could take the car myself, that I didn't need a chaperone, that I'd be fine. But he'd looked at me with those steady, knowing eyes and said, "I'm not asking, Ariel. I'm telling you. You're not going alone."And I hadn't argued. Because part of me was relieved. Because part of me was terrified of what I was about to do, and having someone there, even if they didn't know the full story, made it easier to breathe. The car was warm, the heater humming softly against the winter chill. Dimitri drove with one hand on the wheel, his eyes on the road, his expression neutral. He didn't push. Didn't pry. Just let the silence stretch between us like a comfortable blanket."You don't have to do this, you know," he said finally."Yes, I do.""Whatever you owe him…” "It's not about what I owe him." I stared out the window at the passing trees. "It's about what he knows. What he can use against me. It’s just better to pay him off

ARIEL I walked back to my room on autopilot. My legs carried me through the hallways, past the portraits, past the windows, past everything I didn't see. My mind was still in the dining room. Still hearing his voice. Still watching his lips form the words that had cut through me like a blade. We're formally courting. And we'll be settling down in a matter of months.I closed the door behind me and against it. Pressed my palms against my eyes and tried to breathe. It didn't work.I'd known this was coming. I'd known he would choose his pack. I'd told myself I didn't care, that it didn't matter to me and I was really nothing to him. I wasn't ready to confront that part just yet. I'd heard the words. I'd seen the way he looked at me when he said them, like he was trying to hurt me, like he wanted me to feel every syllable. And I'd felt them. I'd felt them all. He succeeded. I slid down the door and sat on the floor, my knees pulled to my chest, my head bowed. Then my phone buzzed.I

  • Claimed By The Wolf Kings   80 The plan

KAZIMIR The house was a tomb.I'd been back for three days, and in that time, I'd seen Ariel exactly twice. Once in the hallway, where she'd turned and walked the other direction the moment she saw me. Once at breakfast, where she'd sat at the far end of the table, her eyes fixed on her plate, not speaking a single word. She was avoiding me.Good. I was avoiding her too.The silence between us was a living thing, thick and suffocating, filling every room I walked into. I couldn't escape it. Couldn't escape her. Her scent was everywhere, in the halls, in the kitchen, in the bed I couldn't sleep in. It clung to my clothes, my skin, my lungs.I wanted to scream.Instead, I buried myself in work. The investigation into the casino fire. Anything that kept me from thinking about her.It really didn't work.-—————-The council arrived at dusk.I'd been expecting them. Katherine had been making her reports, feeding them information, twisting the narrative to make me look like the reluctant g

KAZIMIRThe club was loud and suffocating. It made my head ache in the most nauseating way. The bass thrummed through my chest like a second heartbeat. I was in the VIP section, a bottle of whiskey in front of me, a glass in my hand that I'd been nursing for the better part of an hour.I wasn't drunk. I couldn't get drunk. Not really. But I was trying. The images wouldn't leave my head. Her lying to me. Her face, the guilt and fear warring for dominance. The scent of another man on her skin. I didn’t want to imagine what could have happened between them. Or why she was so secretive about it. I threw back the rest of my drink and gestured for another.I didn't come here to think. I came here to forget. The music, the lights, the noise and the women who kept glancing my way with hopeful eyes. None of it worked. All I could see was her."You look like hell."Dimitri's voice cut through the noise. He was standing beside me, his eyes covered with dark sunglasses, his arms crossed, his ex

ARIEL The message came at dawn.I was sitting by the window, watching the sun creep over the horizon, when my phone buzzed. Unknown number. I almost didn't answer. Almost. But something made me pick it up.Ariel. I know you're with the Rossi pack now. Fancy. I heard you're living large. But you haven't forgotten about me, have you? You owe me. Remember? I want my money. All of it. If I don't get it by tonight, I'll come to your new boyfriend myself and explain everything. You know where to find me.My blood went cold.I knew that voice. Knew that cadence, that arrogance, that threat that always came wrapped in a smile. I'd spent years trying to forget him. Years trying to erase that part of my past.Damian.I'd met him during my running years, when I was desperate and broke and stupid and still foolishlyyoung. He'd been charming at first, handsome, smooth, offering help when I had nowhere else to turn. But the help came with a price. Everything came with a price with Damian.Things

KAZIMIR I knocked.Footsteps. The click of a lock. The door opened a crack, and she peered out at me. Her face was guarded and careful. The way she always looked when she was trying to protect herself."How are you doing?” I asked. "I’m fine. What do you want?"I should have had an answer. I didn't."I wanted to see how you were," I said. "How's Evie?""She's fine. She went to school.""Good. That's good."We stood there, the door between us, the distance between us. The air was thick with everything we weren't saying. I reached out, my hand moving before I could stop it, to touch her face. She stopped me.Her hand closed around my wrist firmly. Her eyes were hard."Don't," she said."Ariel…” "I mean it, Kazimir. Don't."I let my hand fall. "Why?""You know why.""Tell me anyway."She looked at me for a long moment. Then she stepped back, opening the door just wide enough for me to enter. I stepped inside. The room was dim, the curtains had been closed and the lights were off. "I

ARIEL The car door slammed shut behind me, the sound final as a coffin closing. Kazimir hadn't spoken a word since we left the club, his silence more unnerving than any threat. Through the tinted windows, I watched the city lights blur into nothing as we climbed higher into the mountains, putting

ARIEL I stood at the edge of the underground club, clutching the envelope in my hand so tightly it crinkled. I hated this place. The smell of sweat, alcohol, and something darker coated the air like oil. I could feel it sticking to my skin, making my breath shallow. The money inside wasn’t enough.

KAZIMIR The scent of wolfsbane and gun oil clung to the air as I strode through the weapons room. • Claimed By The Wolf Kings   4- The beginning

KAZIMIR The study smelled of aged whiskey and cigarettes. I poured myself a drink, the crystal glass cold against my fingers, and stared into the amber liquid like it held answers. Nikolai slouched in one of the leather chairs, spinning a knife between his fingers. "So. What's the plan, brothe
