“What?!” my father roared as the two warriors delivered their report the moment they returned to the pack house. They had only just come back from escorting Kira to Thornfell’s border.

“Alpha Kaelen personally escorted Kira and Martha,” one warrior reported, his voice trembling with fear. “No one else was permitted to cross into Thornfell’s territory.”

“They also instructed us to hand this over after ordering us to leave the border,” a servant said, stepping forward with an envelope.
