Olivia

Once I had recovered from Leonardo’s attack. I put on the stupid wristwatch and walked to the car, Leonardo was already inside on his phone while Anna looked at herself in the mirror, acting as though she wasn’t aware of the tension between me and Leonardo, maybe she was used to the brooding Leonardo but I was not.

The car drove out of the estate in painful silence. This was the first time I was outside the gate since being locked in, and as sad as it was to see, the world hadn’t stopped moving on my account.

The car was enormous inside with enough leg room. I still felt as though the walls of the car were closing in on me. I turned my head to the window and focused on the moving scenery.

When I felt a hand touch mine, and froze, only to turn and find Anna smiling at me.

“Breathe.” she said in a low voice, squeezing my hand to reassure me.

Was I that obvious to her? I gave her hand a gentle squeeze and turned my gaze outside again, feeling some weight lifting off my shoulders.

It was streetlights and skyscrapers. But anything I saw outside was better than the dead silence inside the car. As the car moved, I stole glances at Anna. She had her eyes closed, her head against the headrest.

It gave me time to think about what happened earlier. Which made me realize one thing, that I shouldn’t relax around Leonardo. The man was dangerous and capable of bringing me harm.

The car came to a stop and there was a red carpet. Leonardo jumped out first without waiting for the door to be opened.

In a different lifetime, seeing him standing outside the car and fixing his tux on his well-formed physique would have taken my breath away. Now it only intensified the knot in my stomach.

“You two had a fight.” Anna said as soon as we were alone, not making a sign to leave the car soon.

“It was nothing.” I lied.

“Tell that to your wrist.” her eyes narrowed to my wrist and on impulse I covered it with my other hand.

She took out a sponge and beckoned me to bring it closer. For the first since entering the car, I looked at it again and the bruise was more ugly than it did earlier.

This time, there was a need to hide it. Before I could do anything, she took my hand in hers.

“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.” She applied a foundation to her sponge. When the sponge touched my skin, I winced.

“I’m sorry.” She said, working. I raised my eyes and noticed the driver was outside the door, waiting for a signal that we were ready to come out.

“What are you sorry for?” I asked, annoyed. The one person responsible was long gone.

“That he did this to you. He can be a beast sometimes.” She said under her breath but i caught the anger in her words.

“Sometimes? you make it sound as if he can be charming.” I said.

“More than charming.” “I’m afraid that is the only side I know.” She chuckled, making the moment lighter.

When she was done, she showed me my wrist, and it looked like the rest of my arm, and it made me sad.

“Do you do this often?” the question flew out without me thinking it through and I wished I could take it back.

But Anna didn’t seem to notice the catch in my voice. “Do what often?” she was packing her stuff away, not paying attention.

“Cover up bruises?” I asked, and she stopped what she was doing.

“Hell no. Leo would never touch me.” She said with passion, somehow me and my wrist found that hard to believe.

“We better get going. We don’t want to miss anything.” She changed the subject with ease.

“Yes, the speeches,” I said, and we both started laughing.

“I’m glad you remembered something. You are a fast learner.”

Leonardo I had spies in every corner of the city. Politicians, Police commissioner's and even Judges. These were men who would sell their own mothers for the right price. Nothing happened without me hearing about it. So why the hell did my wife always know first about critical things that could ruin the family name? I stood in my office, staring at the security footage playing on the monitor for what had to be the tenth time. There was Olivia at my mom's place. Calm and collected. She walked out of my mother's house like she had just been with a friend. I paused the footage and zoomed in. There was nothing to suggest that she was with someone or she had been receiving instructions on what to say from somewhere. Just Olivia... walking in with that unnerving confidence she seemed to wear like a cloak...alone. Which meant she had gone prepared, she had done her homework beforehand. A knock interrupted my thoughts. "Come in." I said and Luther stepped inside. "We

Olivia After the visit to Leonardo's mom, the mansion was strangely quiet for three days. No arguments. No raised voices. Even the staff moved as though they were afraid to disturb whatever storm was gathering over the estate. I noticed the change and mentioned it to Rosa one morning but she only shrugged and went about her business. I could feel that something had shifted. Leonardo noticed that I noticed, but neither of us said a word. I didn't want to put a name to it even though me and him had a pretty idea what might have made the shift. I saw less of him during that time, but hey the man had just misplaced his precious shiny toy and I hadn't heard anything about Melanie being found...yet. Every few hours he disappeared into his office. I thought it was phone calls or meetings as men came in and out at odd hours. Even Cici looked tense, which was unusual for him. Well well well. I wondered. It looked like whatever they were working on was making them run fo

Olivia While Leonardo and his brother picked up their jaws from the floor, I took the opportunity to wiggle myself free from their company and walk out. I had better things to do than be bothered about my husband's side piece. I stepped out of the room and drove out of the mansion alone. I hated being kept in the dark, especially when I knew someone had all the answers to bring light back into my life. The black SUV rolled through the iron gates of the De Luca estate. Thee De Luca estates where Leonardo's mom resided. Everyone knew I avoided anything that had to do with the De Lucas, especially Leonardo's mom, but here I was. And I was in no mood for bullshit, regardless who served it. I climbed out of the car and marched straight toward the entrance. Driving myself was yet another thing that would piss off Leonardo. The door barely had time to open before I was already inside. In my previous life, I would have been anxious about the noise my shoes made agains

Olivia Leonardo released my wrist too quickly. That was how I knew I had finally hit something important. Men like him only let go when they were afraid of what they might do next or what the other person might do to them. I rubbed my wrist slowly after he stepped back, not because he had hurt me but because I wanted him to stare at the mark his fingers left behind. It was as though he didn't know how to control me any more and because he was possessive by nature, he was losing his mind. The fire kept on crackling between us, filling the silence. I wanted him to drown in it. Leonardo De Luca always had an answer for everything. Always the perfect Don and not to mention ten steps ahead of everyone, but not tonight, not anymore. Tonight, I had dragged him somewhere uncomfortable and he didn't know what to make of the piece of information is just given him. He turned away first, jaw tight as he walked toward the liquor cabinet. The movement looked controlled but I

Leonardo There was smoke in the mansion. Not real smoke. The house alarms were silent, the chandeliers untouched, the walls still standing in polished perfection. But I smelled it anyway. Being a leader of a crime family was both a blessing and a curse. I could smell danger from a mile, and I smelled it right now. I loosened my tie as I walked toward my home office, exhaustion dragging behind me like a chain. I had meetings after meetings all day, phone calls that never ended, men too incompetent to solve problems I paid them millions to handle. And through all of it, one person had sat at the back of my mind like a loaded weapon. Olivia. Ever since I woke up to find her staring at me and Melanie, she had been… different. She was calm for a woman who had just caught her husband red handed. Too damn calm and composed. Olivia was never quiet without a reason, not even when Anna was still around or when Rachel had tried to play a trick at the club. This was another level

MelanieAfter a month since the confrontation with the wife, I was convinced that everyone — the house included — hated me.The romance between Leo and me had also cooled down. The passion was no longer what it used to be; those burning flames that once threatened to consume us were dying out.Everything felt... domesticatedThere was something else as well. It was one morning that I first noticed Leo had a dog, and it had taken some sort of liking — or disliking — to me.His dog spent more time in the east wing than it did outside. This was no ordinary dog. Gosh, it was dirty and looked dusty as hell. It looked like a wolf that had given up on civilisation. The most striking thing about it was that it looked homeless. Not some cute kind of homeless or “rescued from the streets but secretly adorable” homeless.No.This creature looked like he actively fought raccoons behind restaurants for entertainment. His fur was uneven in places, thick and wild in others, with one ear slightly ben
