LOGINEmma’s POV
He drove fast through the estate gates like he was in some kind of racing competition. It was hard to enjoy the perfectly lit garden view that flashed past the window as we sped toward the main building. It was a massive, modern-style palace standing all by itself. He finally parked in front of the massive building and I could feel his intent gaze on me…not just on me, all over me. “What?” I asked “You know you can still change your mind if you want to.” His tone was smooth, calm and seductive. Pulling a string in my tummy. Why does he think I’d want to change my mind? “What makes you think I’d want to change my mind?" I tilted my head, looking him straight in the eye. "Is it because you assume I’m some innocent girl who can't handle someone like you?” A slow smirk pulled at the corner of his mouth. “Assume?” he husked, leaning closer until he was an inch away from where I sat. “I didn’t assume Em. With those big eye glasses sliding down your nose, the oversized sweater you’ve always hid yourself in… I don’t assume I know for a fact. .” I could feel the hunger in his gaze, the way it traced every bit of my face. I parted my lips to speak but a word wouldn’t come out. Was that why Trevor left me for Allysia? Did he feel I was too innocent for him? He never really bothered me about sex, although we did it a few times but not much. . Could he have left me because of that? I bit my lower lip and looked into Adrian’s eyes. “You think a sweater and some glasses define me?” I whispered, a wave of confidence washing over me. His smirk didn't fade, if anything it grew hungrier. I could feel his warm breath against my face. “I think,” he husked, his eyes dropping to my mouth, “that you’re just a good girl who is trying so hard to prove to me she’s a badass when ain’t one”. The air in the car turned thick, like I was breathing in his cologne and pure heat. “You think so? ,” I challenged, my heart kicking hard against my ribs. “How about you find out?”. I didn’t wait for him to move. I reached out, my fingers curling into the expensive fabric of his shirt, and pulled him the rest of the way. Crashing my lips on his, I held him tight by the collar like my life depended on it. It wasn’t like the careful polite kisses I’d had with Trevor. It was deep and hungry, like I’d been waiting to kiss this way my whole life. Adrian slid his hand into my hair and pulled me closer to his mouth. His fingers tightened around my ponytail, his mouth taking complete control of mine. I gasped as he deepened the kiss, his tongue twisting against mine in a way that made heat pool between my legs…in a way that got my head spinning. I kissed him with the same desperate fury, like if I let go of him, I might never get this again. I hate that I want him badly, but it’s better than wailing in silence in my apartment. I pulled away from him and gazed into his eyes, my breath panting hard. “Now, how’s that?” A victorious smile spread across my lips, but before I could celebrate my victory further, Adrian’s hand dropped to the side of my seat. With a sharp click, he pulled the lever. The world suddenly tilted as my seat crashed backward, reclining until my back was lying flat on it . Before I could even gasp, Adrian's heavy, muscular frame pinned me against the leather. He was on top of me, his eyes carrying a deep dark hunger that made me swallow hard. “You were saying?” “I…..” I stammered my breath coming in hard. “Tongue tied?” He leaned to my neck, his mouth trailing wet kisses down my throat. The sensation sent chills down my spine as I bit my lower lips and closed my eyes in pleasure, a moan escaping from my lips. He stopped and looked into my face. He used a hand to raise my head up gently and hooked a finger into my hair band, snapping it off with one hard tug. My honey brown colored hair cascaded over my shoulders, spilling across my cheeks and neck, the soft strands tickling my skin as I looked up at him. I’ve always tied my hair up in a ponytail, people merely saw me without it. He tucked the stray strands of hair hovering over my face behind my ear, his thumb lingering on my lower lip for a split second. The tenderness of the gesture made my breath hitch with needs. He crashed his mouth against mine, this time it felt like a desperate demand. He kissed me hard, his lips bruising mine with a raw hunger that made my head spin. I felt the air leave my lungs as he claimed me, his tongue forcing its way past my teeth to tangling with mine. His hand trailed down my body as he unzipped the sweater I was putting on slowly till my boobs were exposed in front of him. His thumb pressed on one of my hardened nipples, making me gasp loudly, not giving a care if anyone could hear me. “Hahhhhhh”EmmaAdrian guided me through different parts of the estate, his hand resting low on my back like it was the most natural thing in the world. I couldn’t tell if it was for show or if he’d simply forgotten that we didn’t have to keep up the act when no one was watching. But then I remembered all the other times he’d held me like he owned every piece of me, and I decided not to overthink it.When we came to the indoor swimming pool lined with pristine white loungers, I nodded to myself without thinking.“What?” he asked, catching the gesture.“I’m trying to decide which pool I like better—this one or the one at your place in London.”“Mine is obviously better,” he said without hesitation.I rolled my eyes. “Sure, keep telling yourself that.”He chuckled and shook his head, and we continued walking until two tennis courts came into view, sitting side by side. It felt a bit excessive to me, but then again, I was standing in the middle of a Beaufort estate, so maybe this was just how thing
EmmaAfter what felt like forever, Adrian finally broke the silence, his voice casual.“We’re almost there.”I cleared my throat and smoothed down the fabric of my dress, mentally preparing myself for what was coming. I kept stealing glances at him, but he wasn’t looking back. His face was completely blank, and I couldn’t figure out why.Ten minutes had passed since he’d said we were almost there, but all I could see was endless stretches of empty grounds stretching out on both sides of the road.“It feels like we’ve been driving in this limousine forever since you said we were close,” I said, glancing over at him. It wasn’t a complaint, just an observation. He didn’t answer immediately, just gave me a quick look from the corner of his eye.“Everyone feels that way the first time they come here. All of this is part of the estate. Just wait.”Another five minutes passed, and then I started to see it. On both sides of the road, trees appeared, trimmed so precisely they looked almost pai
Emma The sound of an engine outside made me pause with the mascara wand halfway to my lashes. It wasn’t the sound I was used to hearing from his car.Curiosity got the better of me, and I hurried to the window, pulling back the curtain just enough to peek through. My jaw nearly hit the floor when I saw a sleek black limousine parked right in my driveway.A chauffeur in a crisp black-and-white suit stepped out and opened the back door.Adrian emerged in a charcoal-grey suit, his hair styled the same way it had been the night before, except this time he had a pair of sunglasses on that made him look like he owned every inch of the city.My phone rang from the dressing table, and I rushed over, silently praying it wasn’t my mom again. Instead, Adrian’s name lit up the screen. I answered instantly, a smile tugging at my lips as I pressed the phone to my ear and hurried back to the window just to get another look at him.“A limousine?” was the first thing out of my mouth. He smirked, his

EmmaThere was a huge white box neatly placed on my doorstep and tied with a pink silk ribbon. The packaging alone made it look like it had come straight out of some luxury store.I picked it up and carried it inside, nudging the door shut with my leg before dropping it onto the couch. When I lifted the lid, the first thing I saw was a $5000 receipt lying right on top. I rolled my eyes and let out a chuckle as it was typical of Adrian to do such a thing. He’d left it there on purpose, just to make sure I knew exactly how much he’d spent.I set the receipt aside and pushed back the layers of tissue paper on the dress, my breath actually caught for a second. The dress was folded underneath, soft and expensive under my fingers. I was so curious to check out what it looked like that I quickly lifted it out and held it up in front of me, unfolding all the way to the floor. It was so gorgeous. It has a deep, rich color that I already knew would look great on me and it was the kind of dress
AdrianThe drive back to Emma’s place was quiet, the only sound was her soft humming along to whatever was playing on the radio. Her voice was barely above a whisper, but somehow it was enough to pull my attention.I kept catching myself watching her instead of the road. The way her fingers tapped lightly against her thigh without her noticing, the small smile resting on her lips, her eyes shut like she was somewhere far away and happy. It got to me in a way I wasn’t ready for.For the first time in longer than I could remember, I didn’t feel that pull to reach over and touch her. Just sitting there watching her was enough on its own, and the second I realized that, it scared me a little. Her eyes suddenly opened and she glanced over, and I snapped my gaze back to the road, pretending I’d been focused the whole time.“So,” she said, breaking the silence, “what exactly am I supposed to wear to this lunch at your dad’s place?”Her timing was terrible, since I was still trying to pull m
Adrian’s POVI’d always known Emma as my sister’s best friend, and I was more than surprised when I found out the person Allysia was getting married to was Emma’s boyfriend. To be honest, I’d never liked that scumbag. It was crazy to me, but I hadn’t bothered to go through the trouble of informing
Emma’s POVAdrian didn’t say a word as he drove, keeping his eyes focused on the road while his hands stayed steady on the wheel. He shifted gears and pulled out of the parking lot, heading away from the building where my life had just fallen apart. I leaned back and turned my head toward the side
Emma’s POVI turned around and started to hurry away from the room; I didn’t wait for their response. There was no point in facing those two shameless assholes I’d trusted all my life. The painful ache in my heart was surprisingly gone now, replaced by a flaming fury that threatened to explode in m
Emma’s POV "Yes! Oh my god, yes!" I’ve played this scene in my head a thousand times. Trevor Hayes, my boyfriend of six years, finally down on one knee, his love for me glistening bright in his eyes with a diamond ring I’ve always wanted in his hand. I’ve practiced how loud my "yes" would be seve
