The morning sun pushed through the blinds, leaving bright stripes on the floor. The city below was already busy and loud, but Adrian’s penthouse was dead quiet. He sat up slowly and put his feet on the cold floor. The other side of the bed was empty. Luca was gone. There wasn't a note or a message, just a faint smell on the sheets that reminded him of what he’d just shared.

Adrian sat there for a long moment, staring at the empty space. He didn't freak out, but his mind was racing. Being bisexual wasn't a secret to him, but it had been a very long time since he had been with a man. Actually, it had been a long time since he’d been with anyone. Luca was the first person he had let into his bed since his wife died, and there was something about the younger man that he couldn't quite put his finger on.

He lit a cigar and let the smoke clear his head. He didn't like how much he was thinking about Luca. To clear his mind, he picked up his phone and called his right-hand man.

"I need you to find someone," Adrian said, his voice deep and serious. He gave a detailed description of Luca the way he looked, the way he carried himself, and where he had been that night. "I want to know everything. Find out who he is and what he’s doing in this city."

After hanging up, he went into his ensuite bathroom and stood under the hot water of the shower, trying to wash away the feeling of Luca’s touch. Once he was finished, he dressed carefully in a sharp three-piece suit. He looked at himself in the mirror, pulling his mask of control back on. He called his driver to get the car ready and take him to his company.

A few hours later, the door to Adrian’s private office swung open. Valentino strode in, looking like he had seen a ghost. He walked straight to the desk and dropped a folder in front of Adrian.

"You’re going to need a drink for what you’re about to see," Valentino said, heading straight for the bar in the corner and pouring himself and Ardian a drink.

Adrian reached for the glass and took a sip . He opened the file and his eyes landed on the name: Luca Moretti.

Adrian froze. His heart felt like it had been dropped in ice. Moretti. The name alone felt like a weight on his chest.

"He's one of them," Valentino said, pacing. "The youngest child. He’s the baby of the family, Adrian. From what I’ve gathered, he’s a bit of a spoiled brat. They let him do whatever he wants and stay out of the business completely. He’s precious to them."

Adrian took a slow, deep breath. Inside, he was furious. He felt a sharp sting of betrayal because the very first person he felt an attraction to after his wife’s death turned out to be part of the family that killed her.

"There's more," Valentino added, leaning over the desk. "The reason they’re so desperate? It’s that government contract you’re holding. The one you won last year. That’s why they went after Elena, Adrian. They killed her to try and scare you into dropping it so they could take it for themselves. And now, they're going broke because they don't have it."

Adrian’s grip tightened on the edge of his desk until his knuckles turned white. The truth felt like a physical blow. The Morettis hadn't just killed his wife; they had killed her for a piece of paper that was currently sitting in his safe.

He knew that getting angry would only make him messy, and he couldn't afford to be messy. He needed to be smart. He needed a plan to get his revenge and destroy them for good. He needed to hit them where it would hurt the most.

"So they want this contract?" Adrian asked, his voice low and dangerous. "They killed my wife for it, and now they’re failing because they don’t have it?"

Valentino nodded. "They're desperate. They're looking for a miracle to save their name."

A cold, dark smile touched Adrian’s lips. He wasn't just going to attack them; he was going to wait for them to come to him for help. He would wait until they were begging for that very contract, and then he would make an offer they couldn't refuse.

A new kind of contract. A marriage.

He would take their precious, spoiled baby and bring him into his world. He would tie Luca to him legally and use him to tear the Morettis apart.

Adrian looked at the photo of Luca in the file. Luca thought he was just living a fun, free life, and his family thought they could keep him safe while they played dirty games. They were both wrong. Adrian was holding all the cards now, and he was ready to play.

Miles away, Luca was walking through the city streets with a huge smile on his face. He kept touching his jaw, still able to feel the warmth of Adrian’s breath against his skin. To him, the night had been perfect.

Luca didn't know about the files on Adrian’s desk. He didn't know about the blood on his family's hands. Being the youngest child of the Moretti family, he was kept far away from the dark side of the business. His father and brothers let him live his life however he wanted shopping, partying, and traveling. They protected him from the truth, so he had no idea his family was responsible for the death of Adrian's wife.

His phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw dozens of notifications from the family group chat.

Marco: Hey, kid. Where are you? You never came home last night. Dante: If you're hungover at some diner, let us know so we can come get you. Papa: Luca, check in. It's late. Are you okay?

Luca laughed to himself, his heart feeling warm. They always treated him like he was ten years old, checking up on him if he stayed out past sunrise. He quickly typed back: I'm fine! I just stayed over at a friend's place. On my way home now. Love you guys.

He tucked his phone away and kept walking, humming to himself. In his mind, Adrian was just a beautiful memory, a one-night stand that had gone better than expected. He didn't think he would ever see the man again, and honestly, that was how he liked it. No drama, no messy feelings. All he wanted to do now was get home, crawl into his own bed, and sleep off the rest of the morning.

The kitchen table was filled with the familiar clutter of the Moretti home, but Luca felt like a ghost sitting among the living. As the initial euphoria of the hug faded, the reality of his situation set in. His body still ached, a constant, throbbing reminder of the night before beneath his beautiful cream sweater. Every time he shifted on the wooden chair, a dull pulse of pain radiated through his hips, forcing him to keep his posture rigidly straight so his family wouldn't notice."You look thin, Lu," his father, Lorenzo, said, his sharp eyes scanning Luca’s face. The patriarch’s gaze was legendary for cutting through deception, and Luca felt exposed under it. Lorenzo reached over, his heavy, scarred hand covering Luca’s smaller one. "Are they feeding you over there? Is Voss treating you like a husband, or a prisoner?"Luca forced a bright, easy smile that didn't reach his eyes. He practiced this look in the car, smoothing out the tension in his forehead. "He treats me well, Papa.

The ride back from Voss Industries was even worse than the ride there. Luca sat with his face pressed against the cold glass of the window, his chest still aching from his crying fit in Adrian’s office. He felt hollow, his throat raw and dry. Beside him, Adrian was completely silent. The only sound in the car was the quiet hum of the tires on the asphalt. Adrian didn't look at his tablet this time. He just stared straight ahead, his jaw locked tight, his broad shoulders tense and rigid. When the car finally pulled into the dark underground garage of the penthouse, Luca got out quickly. He wanted to run to his room and hide under the sheets, but his body felt incredibly heavy and tired. He walked into the penthouse foyer, the bright lights making his eyes sting. He didn't want to look at Adrian, so he headed straight for the kitchen to get a glass of water. His hands were still shaking so much the glass clinked against the marble counter as he set it down.Suddenly, the air in the roo

The morning brought no relief. The light that filled the bedroom was cold and gray, throwing sharp shadows across the floor. Luca lay in the center of the vast bed, his body aching with a deep, heavy exhaustion. He hadn't slept. Every time he closed his eyes, he heard the red lock on the elevator blinking, or he saw his father’s weeping face, or he felt the heavy, suffocating warmth of Adrian’s body holding him in the dark. The memory of his begging from the night before sat like a stone in his throat. He had dropped to his knees. He had grabbed Adrian’s suit jacket, crying and sobbing, offering up every shred of his pride just for a single hour with his family. And Adrian had said no. The word had been flat, cold, and final. It had cut through Luca’s desperation like a knife, leaving him alone in the dark to realize the terrifying truth: there was no mercy in this penthouse. The heavy door of his bedroom opened without a knock. Luca flinched, pulling the silk sheets tighter

The hum of the air conditioning was the only constant sound in the penthouse. It was a low, steady vibration that seemed to seep into Luca’s bones, keeping the air freezing and thin. After Adrian left, Luca stayed in the kitchen for a long time. He stared at his empty glass, his body still aching from the night before, his neck hot and tender under the thick collar of his oversized hoodie. The silence of the apartment felt different today. It didn't feel empty anymore. It felt heavy, like a hand pressing down on his chest, keeping him from taking a full breath.Slowly, Luca walked back toward the foyer. He wanted to see the truth for himself. When he reached the private elevator, his breath caught. The glass doors were dark, reflecting his own swallowed, gray silhouette. He reached out and pressed the call button. Nothing happened. The small digital screen next to the doors didn't light up with its usual soft green glow. Instead, a tiny red lock icon blinked steadily.Luca pressed it

The light that filtered through the curtains was not bright. It was a soft, heavy gray that lay over the bedroom like a wet blanket, keeping the corners of the room in deep shadow.Luca woke up slowly. For the first time since he had been brought to this penthouse, he did not wake up to cold sheets. Instead, there was a heavy, radiating warmth pressed against his back. A large, solid arm was draped over his waist, the heavy palm resting flat against his stomach. Adrian’s chest was pressed to Luca’s shoulder blades, rise and fall of his breathing slow, steady, and warm against the back of Luca’s neck.Luca lay perfectly still. He didn't even dare to breathe too deeply, terrified that any movement would shatter the heavy, quiet peace of the moment. His body was incredibly sore. When he tried to shift his legs, a sharp, dull ache pulsed through his hips and lower back, a physical reminder of the relentless, possessive way Adrian had claimed him hours before. His neck was tender, and his

The ride home was a suffocating shroud of silence. Luca sat on the far side of the leather backseat, his arms wrapped tight around himself, his skin still prickling from the memory of that man’s unwanted touch. The lights of the city blurred past the window like dying embers. Beside him, Adrian was a statue carved from cold marble. His jaw was tight, his knuckles white where they gripped his own knees. Every time Luca shivered, the air in the car seemed to grow colder, heavier. When they finally arrived at the penthouse, the silence followed them inside, thick and stagnant. Luca felt small, broken, and terrified of the hollow space in his chest. He couldn’t bear the thought of being alone in his room, staring at the ceiling, replaying the way that man’s hands had felt against his skin, the way he had been pulled and shoved in the hallway. He followed Adrian into the living area, his voice barely a breath. "Adrian... please. Stay with me?"Adrian stopped, his back to Luca. His shoulder

The sun was starting to set over the city, but inside the Moretti mansion, there was only tension. Luca went up to his room to pack his things, his hands trembling so much he could barely hold his clothes. He couldn't even get through it without breaking down. Everything was so overwhelming. Just a

The Moretti house was always a place of noise and laughter. It was a home where the walls seemed to vibrate with life, the sound of Italian opera coming from the kitchen, the heavy thud of footsteps on the stairs, and the constant, energetic bickering of brothers who loved each other more than they

The bass from the club's speakers vibrated right through the soles of Adrian’s shoes and into his chest. He sat alone in the dim, red-lit VIP section, swirling a glass of neat whiskey. He hated places like this. He hated the flashing lights and the suffocating energy of the crowd below. But the noi

Rain hammered against the windshield, blurring the city lights into streaks of neon and gold. The midnight traffic had died down hours ago, leaving the streets empty except for the low rumble of thunder. Beside Adrian, Elena laughed softly. The sound of it instantly loosened the tight knot of tens
