Fifteen minutes after Sophie left...

Julian sat behind his desk staring blankly at the papers scattered across the surface and on the ground. The reports in front of him had been untouched since Dan came in ten minutes after his horrible meeting with Sophia. Dan, bless him, entered and saw the papers scattered across the office but asked no questions.

That was exactly why Julian loved him more than he loved himself.

Dan had been going on about the board wanting to know the next move concernin

  • Dear Ex-husband, I'll Make You Beg   Standing on Business

Julian stopped outside his father’s bedroom and took a deep breath, his hand hovering over the door for a second before he finally knocked. His heart wasn’t racing anymore, but there was still a knot in his stomach, reminding him that this conversation could change everything. He had only one shot at this, and he didn’t want to mess things up.“Come in.” Anthony’s calm voice called from inside.Julian pushed the door open and stepped inside, finding his father sitting comfortably on a leather couch near the window. He held a book in his hands while a pair of reading glasses sat low on his nose as he quietly turned another page.Silvia stepped in behind Julian and reached for his hand before he could take another step. She squeezed it gently, offering him a reassuring smile that helped ease some of the tension in his chest.“You’ll be fine,” she whispered, giving his hand another squeeze. “Just say what you’ve been wanting to say.”Julian nodded, appreciating her support more than anyt

After his conversation with his mother, Julian returned to the dining table, feeling a lot better than before. Even though nothing had changed yet, knowing that his mother was on his side made him a lot calmer. This new change didn't go unnoticed by Serena. She tilted her head slightly as he sat down, studying him with narrower eyes that didn't match the smile on her lips. Something about his energy had changed and she didn't like not knowing why.Her gaze drifted past him almost instantly as she watched Silvia walking back into the room from the hallway where Julian had just come out from. Serena's smile stiffened for half a second before she recovered, watching as Silvia took her seat again without saying much.Serena leaned closer to Julian, acting as nonchalant as possible. "You were gone for a while." She said lightly. "Everything okay?"Julian didn't want to respond but when he saw his father stealing glances at theme he picked up his glass, took a slow sip, and replied. "I need

There was an immediate shift in not just Julian’s expression but the entire Monroe house as soon as Papa Vale stepped in. Whatever Julian had been about to say earlier died instantly, as someone had reached into his chest and shut it off without permission. The Monroes practically lit up as soon as they saw both of Julian’s parents, rushing forward with excitement.“Mr Vale! I’m so excited to see that you made it.” Jada greeted while her husband followed behind, smiling like he was before the president.“We are so honored to have you at our home, Mr Vale, Mrs Vale.” He greeted, giving them respective handshakes while the women exchanged hugs.“The pleasure is ours, Edward.” Julian’s mother, Silvia answered on both their behalfs since her husband wasn’t much of a talker. He had a resting frown on his face like he had been forced to be here and truth to be told, he didn’t want to be here. If only his son had manned up and gotten married when he was supposed to, then he wouldn’t have had

  • Dear Ex-husband, I'll Make You Beg   The Family Dinner

That Evening...Julian walked back into his house that evening, his heart heavy after his awful day at work. As the doors closed behind him, he let out a strained sigh, remembering the dinner Serena had planned. He didn't want this. At all. He stood for a moment in the hallway, loosening his tie before heading upstairs. The idea of a family dinner felt less like a genuine dinner and more like an event designed to trap him into something he didn't want to do. But, as much as he didn't want to attend the dinner, he had no choice. His father was going to be in attendance. When he entered his room, he took a shower and changed into a casual outfit for the evening; a plain shirt and black jeans. Something to.d him his father wasn't going to be happy with his outfit choice, but they were going to have to deal with it as he was already attending the dinner against his will. When he finally made his way downstairs, it was 7:15pm and Serena was already waiting on the sofa. She was dresse

Julian sighed, massaging his temples. "I spoke to her...for the second time actually." He confessed. There was a brief pause before Zane spoke. "Alright. How did that go?" He asked even though a part of him already knew the answer. "It didn't go well," Julian replied, and he could almost feel Zane roll his eyes over the phone, his face saying, "Of course, it didn't." You idiot'. Confirming his suspicions, Zane snorted. "Wow. What a surprise." Julian didn't miss the sarcasm in his tone. Rolling his eyes, he replied. "Can you at least pretend to be sympathetic? I'm hoping through a hard time here." "No," Zane answered immediately. The blunt answer made Julian laugh again. Shaking his head, he leaned back in his chair and continued. "She's still angry." He confessed and he heard a loud sigh from Zane. "Of course she is. It would be strange if she isn't." Julian stared out the window. Then he sighed heavily, his expression filled with sadness. "I thought maybe after five years—""

  • Dear Ex-husband, I'll Make You Beg   Doubts

Julian stared at Serena as though he couldn't believe what he had just heard. His lips twisted in annoyance as he thought about what she had just said and the more he thought about it, the angrier he became. "W-what...Do you even hear yourself?" How asked, his voice low and dangerous as he rose slowly from his chair. "Do you realize that's your sister you're talking about?" Serena rolled her eyes at how ridiculous the question sounded. Leaning against the door, she folded her arms across her chest and let out a scoff. "Oh, please. Don't start that nonsense with me," she said dismissively. "You know very well that we're not real sisters. You of all people shouldn't be asking that question."Julian frowned at her. Even after everything he had learned about Serena over the years, her ability to speak about Sophia with such contempt still managed to surprise him. He couldn't believe he hadn't seen this side of her years ago when he was stupidly in love with her. "Real sisters or not, I

His name appeared boldly on her screen. Julian. She stared at it for a while before turning to Lara and then holding out her phone to show her the screen. "What do you want to do?" Lara asked, hoping her friend wouldn't forget everything she had been through and return to Julian all in the name

Sophie sat quietly in the living room, her hands resting on her lap as she stared at nothing in particular. The dining table was set a few feet away, the food long gone cold.
