LOGINChapter 3
Harper's POV
I stirred in my sleep. I thought I heard a noise but I was too exhausted to pry my eyes open. The door creaked. The blanket shifted just as I felt something on my face followed by a low growl, almost real, almost as if it was right next to me. That snapped me out of my trance.
I wiped my face with my hands but to my shock, my hands were filled with slime. Three figures stood at the foot of my bed. I screamed at the top of my voice wiping my face off with the blanket furiously. The sound of someone laughing made me stop. It was them. They were here. Hayes, Cole and Noah. I looked up at them terrified.
I clutched the blanket tighter to cover my half-naked self from their peering gaze. "W...what are you doing here?"
Noah clicked his tongue with an unsettling calm. "Is that any way to say hi to your new brothers?" Cole dragged a chair close to the foot of my bed and sat on it. Arms folded in front of him with a smirk on his face. Hayes leaned lazily on the wall, throwing a small glowy ball up and down with his eyes fixated on me.
"S...step brothers," I stuttered my heart beating like a jackhammer in my chest.
"We've been gone barely a week and we already have a sister?" Cole asked. I gulped hard. Aside from being scared of them, there was something else. The boys were very attractive. I meant drop-dead gorgeous. No one could deny that.
Noah had cropped short black hair, always styled neatly and perfectly in place. There was a quiet authority in the way he carried himself. They all had the same blue eyes but his was a lighter shade. Cole wore his hair slightly longer, falling messily over his forehead. He had a lazy charming grin that never failed to draw attention, the kind of smile that made hearts flutter.
And Hayes, he kept his hair pulled back at the nape of his neck, his face was calmer than Cole's and Noah, he always looked uninterested. His eyes were darker, colder. They seem to always pull people in, revealing things they never thought they would. They were all impossible to ignore.
"Not just any sister. The only pack's omega freak. Could this get any worse?" Noah added breaking me from my reverie. Bold of them to think I wanted to be family either.
"You all aren't the only ones uncomfortable here. It's not like I wanted to come here either," I mumbled. They hated me. I got that from their heated stares but if only we could agree. I stay out of their way and they stay out of mine till this nightmare is finally over.
Cole scoffed. "Lies and more lies. Expected nothing else from you." My eyes fell on the wall clock and I realised I was running late. I stood up in impulse holding the sheets tightly to my chest.
"C...could you please leave? I'm running late for school," I stuttered. They could come to school whenever they wanted. The Alpha was the school's major sponsor. I on the other hand, could get into serious trouble. Just as I was about to walk past Hayes, he grabbed my hand making my grip on the blanket loosen.
"We are not done talking Red," he said coldly. His cold tone and hands sent a shiver down my spine. Red. That's what they always called me due to my red hair. Why did it sound different today? He pushed me towards the wall and wrapped his hand around my throat, not enough to choke me but just enough to pass his message across.
"All these years and you still haven't learned to walk out on us when we are talking," Noah said, his lips curved in a little smile. Unless I could tell he wasn't amused. It was a warning.
Cole moved towards me. "And respond when we are talking to you." My cheeks heated. It felt as if I could feel his touch all over my body. Their gaze burned against my skin. Hayes had this predatory gleam in his eyes. I gulped, trying to soothe my dry throat.
What was wrong with me? Was I actually enjoying this? He was cutting off my air supply and I was resisting the urge to press my body against his. Goosebumps lined my skin. I couldn't breathe but at the same time, I didn't want their hands off me. My phone suddenly rang snapping me back to reality.
Hayes moved his hand from my throat, and I coughed trying to bring myself back to my senses. "Don't act as you know us in school. If this gets out, you will pay for it," he warned.
His eyes held that cold cruelty I had learned to recognise from years of hallway encounters. This close, I could see the tension in his jaw before he walked out of the room.
“You are in our house but that doesn’t mean you belong here. You will never belong here,” Cole deadpanned. I held his gaze longer than intended.
“I know that,” I responded. I was surprised by how steady my voice came out. Apparently, it didn’t get the memo that I was scared. Something shifted in his expression, and I could barely name it before he retreated in the same direction as his brother.
"That's the most pathetic excuse of a nightwear I have ever seen," Noah snickered as they followed after their brother. I rushed into the bathroom scared they might change their mind and come back in. I stared at myself in the mirror. My cheeks and my neck were bright red, and my green eyes were unfocused.
I shook my head and slapped some water on my cheeks. "Get a grip, Harper." I turned on the shower and took a quick bath. I still haven't gotten over the huge room and beautiful decor. It took me a while to get it all in last night.
I got dressed as fast as I could and rushed downstairs. I hoped I wouldn't meet anyone on my way to the door but I stopped abruptly when my gaze came in contact with Andrew's.
"And where are you rushing off to miss? The Alpha is in a meeting. The table is set for breakfast. He will join you as soon as he's done..."
"I don't have enough time for that. I need to get to school. Could you please let me off just this once?" I pleaded anxiously. It wasn't just school. I wasn't ready to meet the Alpha yet. He might have seen the desperation in my eyes because he stepped out of the way.
I smiled brightly rushing outside. "Thank you. I owe you one." I sneaked past the guards and rushed out of the gate. I took the bus to school. When I got to the entrance, Scott was waiting by the door.
"What took you so long?" He asked impatiently.
"I'm sorry. It's a long story. Everything has just been crazy since last night..."
"Is something going on with you and Justin?" He asked cutting me off.
"Huh?" I was dumbfounded by his question. Justin had been my crush but he didn't know I existed and Scott knew that. Why was he asking me all of a sudden? He pulled me towards my locker and pushed it open. A single rose fell out along with a note. I picked up the note and froze when I read the content.
"Would you come to the ball with me? J."
Chapter 44Harper’s POVIt was 5 am in the morning. I couldn’t bring myself to get out of bed. The ringing noises in my head were all gone. And the voices from the previous day, all gone as well. Was I crazy to think there were ever any voices that spoke to me? Was it moon madness? It was said that any female who didn’t get their wolf at the right time would slowly start to lose their mind in heat. It wasn’t a myth. A lot of females had been exiled to the woods under the reign of the triplets' grandfather. I absentmindedly stood up from bed and began to clean before Grace would wake up. The doorbell suddenly rang. “Coming,” I muttered dragging my legs over to get the door. My body was sore. I pulled the door open and a delivery boy was standing with a food tray in his hands. “Delivery for Miss….Red?” he trailed uncertainly. I nodded. “That’s me.” It had to be from the triplets. No one else called me that. I took the tray from him, thanked him and shut the door. I opened up the cov
Chapter 43Harper’s POVA loud whistle sounded. Miss Rose told us it was for when a territory was claimed. The second one sounded. It was for when the hunting game was coming to an end. Then the third. I couldn’t think of what the third was used for because a fourth rang through my ears followed by repeated whistle sounds. It sounded like an emergency. I hurriedly stood up from the floor. My eyes darted around as my heart thumped loudly in my chest. I had to be calm and find the two moon coins which were left. After that, I would be able to leave the woods before it can get any worse. I followed the moon trails like the card instructed. I sneezed. The night was getting colder. The trail led me to a small knot in a tree trunk. I pulled out the knot and in a small cloth, the two moon coins were tied. “Got you. Thank you moon goddess,” I whispered to myself happily. The moon goddess must have listened to my plea and decided to have mercy on me. I didn’t need to fear getting eaten by th
Chapter 42Harper's POVRachel looked taken aback, as she had just heard the most absurd thing ever. Justin simply stood quietly. Was I misinterpreting things or was he taking my side against hers? "Excuse me?" she asked, her voice sharp. "Are you hard of hearing? Or do you just love making people repeat themselves?" He retorted casually placing his hands into his pocket before glancing towards Justin. "It's not like he's anything special. Looks plain average to me."Justin looked just as surprised as I was. "Since when do you care?" she scoffed."I don't. If you are going to be demeaning then be creative with it. Calling her an omega every five seconds is getting old. Everyone knows that's what she is.""Logan, you...""Let's get moving. This is getting boring. I need to get to bed," Logan cut Justin off walking away. I furrowed my brows suspiciously. Was this one of his tricks? To get me to trust him above Rachel and Justin just to fuck me over?"You must think you can talk to us
Chapter 41Harper’s POVIt seemed as though my ears were playing tricks on me. I wanted, no I needed to hear her speak again but the field was awfully silent. Did I hear her right? Hun…hunting?“I wasn’t aware you all wanted to go hunting that badly,” she whispered to herself. My heart sank to the bottom of my stomach. Tonight was the full moon. The full moon made wolves go crazy, especially kids who weren’t yet in full control. I was as good as dead. “Uhm, tonight is the full moon, Miss. Are you sure everyone voted correctly?” Grace asked in her voice. I gulped. I couldn’t speak. “I’m sure everyone did. And even if tonight is the full moon, what does it matter? Scared the big wolves are going to haunt you down?” Another student taunted. The potential Alphas, Betas and gammas hooted tauntingly. “You wish. The hunting game is on,” an omega retaliated. The others nodded in response. There was no way they would ever give in to the others. This was a fight for power and dominance. I wa
Chapter 40Allison’s POVI stepped in front of the board and caught the dart Cole threw with my fingers. The force made my hair which was in a ponytail fall across my back. “Come on, this is out of character. When have you guys become a bore?” I groaned turning around abruptly and throwing the dart on the board and boom, bull’s eye. I smiled in content. “You are the one acting out of character Ally. You’ve never been the type to be interested in these games. Why are you trying to convince us now?” Hayes retorted. We were currently at a bar in the VIP room where we normally frequented whenever we visited. “Hayes is right. You always said never to engage because it was demeaning to mingle with the other kids. You gave us a sour look whenever we did…”“But you boys did it anyway. Even when I specifically said not to.”“Exactly. That’s what Noah was trying to say. We’ve finally given in to what you want this year. What changed for you?” Cole asked trying to take a sip from the glass in
Chapter 39Harper’s POVThe vacuum cleaner's hum made me slowly open my eyes. I turned on the bed, and the first person my eyes met was Grace's smiling face. “I’m sorry. Did I wake you up?” she inquired biting her lips nervously. I shook my head with a yawn. “It’s time I woke up anyway. Good morning.”“Good morning. How did you sleep?” she asked warmly, her face beaming with smiles. I rubbed the back of my neck tiredly. “Good, I guess.” I returned late last night and I couldn’t sleep early. I kept tossing and turning. She nodded and continued cleaning. I glanced at my phone and there was a message from Scott apologising for not showing up last night. Apparently, he was on a business call with some clients. His parents were slowly integrating him into the family business. I replied to the text and got up on my feet. “I should have helped you clean. I’m sorry,” I muttered. I didn’t want her to think I viewed her as just a maid and she would have to clean up after me. That was never
Chapter 30Harper’s POVI smoothed the dress with my hands as I stood in front of the mirror. My mind drifted back to the conversation I had with Stella and the Alpha when I returned. I didn’t wait for them to bring it up. I walked up to them as soon as I returned home from school. “Harper, what’s
Chapter 29Harper’s POV“What’s the commotion all about?” “Principal,” someone whispered as everyone scampered away. Allison took two steps back. Somehow, her words didn’t match her tone at all. It sounded more like she wanted me to brace myself for war instead. “Allison, the bell is for public a
Chapter 27Harper’s POVAnyone could tell they were not on good terms with their father. The cold replies, the harsh tones. I never would have imagined that the triplets weren’t cuddled by their father. Everyone had left the dining table except for me. It took me a…moment to properly collect myself
Chapter 26Hayes’s POVPathetic. That was the only word I had for the situation I was currently in. We were all sitting at the dining table. Stella and Red were sitting at the right while Cole, Nick and I were sitting at the left with Father at the head of the dining table. Everyone was silent exce
