The partnership meeting between Sterling Group and Collins International had officially ended.

Life should have returned to normal.

But for Damian Sterling...

Nothing felt normal anymore.

Every conversation with Evelyn left another question in his heart.

Every time he looked into her eyes...

He saw a woman who had survived without him.

And somehow...

That hurt more than he expected.

Back at Sterling Group Headquarters, Damian stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows in his office.

The city bustled beneath him, but his thoughts were elsewhere.

A knock sounded on the door.

"Come in."

Lucas Bennett entered.

"I've finished reviewing the visitor records and security footage."

Damian turned.

"Anything new?"

Lucas shook his head.

"Nothing conclusive."

"But I did speak with the receptionist."

Damian's expression sharpened.

"What did she say?"

"She confirmed that Ms. Blake came to see you the day before we went to meet Helen Morris."

"She waited outside your office for a while before leaving."

Damian frowned.

"Did she say whether Sophia spoke to anyone?"

"No."

"But the timing is suspicious."

Damian walked back to his desk.

"We're missing one piece of the puzzle."

Lucas nodded.

"And we'll find it."

Meanwhile, at Collins International...

Evelyn had just returned to her office after the meeting.

She placed her files on her desk and leaned back in her chair.

For some reason...

Damian's question echoed in her mind.

"Did you ever hate me?"

She closed her eyes.

The answer she had given was true.

She had tried to hate him.

But every time she remembered the man she had fallen in love with...

Hatred disappeared, leaving only sadness.

A gentle knock interrupted her thoughts.

"Come in."

Arthur Collins entered with a smile.

"I wanted to congratulate you."

"The partnership agreement has been approved."

Evelyn smiled.

"That's good news."

Arthur noticed that her smile didn't quite reach her eyes.

"You're thinking about him again."

She didn't deny it.

"I thought seeing him a second time would make things easier."

"Instead..."

"It reminded me how much I've changed."

Arthur nodded.

"And that's not a bad thing."

"You've grown stronger."

"Don't mistake healing for weakness."

Evelyn smiled gratefully.

"Thank you."

That evening...

Evelyn arrived home just after sunset.

The moment she opened the apartment door, a small pair of feet came running toward her.

"Mummy!"

Three-year-old Ethan threw himself into her arms.

Evelyn laughed softly as she knelt down and hugged him tightly.

"Someone missed Mummy today."

"I missed you so much!"

He wrapped his little arms around her neck, refusing to let go.

Evelyn kissed his forehead.

"I missed you too."

Mrs. Davis, walked out of the kitchen with a warm smile.

"Ethan kept asking when you would be home."

Evelyn smiled apologetically.

"I'm sorry I was late."

Mrs. Davis shook her head.

"He was very well-behaved."

"He finished his lunch, took his afternoon nap, and even helped me put away his toys."

Ethan puffed out his little chest proudly.

"I helped!"

"You certainly did," Evelyn said with a laugh, gently ruffling his hair.

She carried him into the dining room, where dinner was already waiting.

At that moment...

The stress from work and the complicated emotions Damian had stirred earlier in the day slowly faded away.

No matter how difficult life becomes...

Walking through that front door and hearing Ethan call her "Mummy" reminded her exactly why she had fought so hard to rebuild her life.

He wasn't just her son.

He was her greatest strength.

Across the city...

Damian returned to the Sterling Mansion later that night.

The house was unusually quiet.

Sophia was sitting in the living room, reading a magazine.

She looked up as he entered.

"You're home late."

"There was work to finish."

She studied him carefully.

Lately...

He always seemed distracted.

As though his mind was somewhere else.

"How did the meeting go?"

"It went well."

"That's all?"

Damian nodded.

"That's all."

He started walking toward the staircase.

"Damian."

He stopped.

Sophia hesitated before speaking.

"Have I done something wrong?"

He turned around.

"No."

"You've done nothing wrong."

But his answer didn't reassure her.

Because she knew...

The distance between them was growing.

And she couldn't stop it.

Late that night...

Damian sat alone in his study.

He opened an old drawer.

Inside was a small velvet box.

He slowly lifted the lid.

Resting inside was Evelyn's wedding ring.

The one she had quietly left behind the day she signed the divorce papers.

He picked it up carefully.

His fingers tightened around the ring.

"I never even asked why you left it behind..."

He whispered to the empty room.

For the first time...

He wished he could go back to that rainy afternoon.

Not to stop the divorce.

But to stop himself from becoming the man who had made the woman he loved walk away in silence.

Outside...

The city lights continued to shine.

Unaware that two hearts...

Once separated by pride and misunderstanding...

Were slowly finding their way back to the truth.
