I jolted my eyes open, disturbed by the voices in the background. The pain in my lower body was excruciating, but the commotion made it impossible to rest. Suddenly, I heard the newborns crying on their small beds beside me, and all the pain vanished. I sat up alert on the hospital bed. "Who are you? W-what are you doing?" I was flabbergasted by the sight of two masculine men, each bending closer to one of the twins. "I am talking to you! What do you think you are doing?" My heart started to throb in my chest, and my voice grew louder. The sweat that had reduced after my struggle to push the babies returned, worry evident all over my face as the two men ignored me completely. One of them took one of the babies, and that was enough for me. I got up from the bed despite the pain. 'Our pups!' my wolf shouted inside me, whimpering and making it hard for me to stay calm. "Put him down! Why are you taking him?" I shouted, fear and confusion overwhelming me as I grasped the bed’s pillar for support. "It’s the order from the Alpha, ma’am." My hands shook, my knees became wobbly, and sweat increased on my forehead. "N-no! Y-you can’t take them from me!" I cried out, rushing toward the man who had just entered the room. It was none other than the Alpha’s beta. But why were they taking the pups away? They had just been born, for crying out loud! "You want to go against the Alpha’s order? Remember, he is the father despite being the Alpha." I bit my lower lip as tears rushed down my cheeks. What kind of man was he? I had just given birth, and he wanted to take the babies away? And how did he know I had given birth? "W-what about me?" I asked nervously as the other man also took the other pup, ignoring the real question I wanted to ask. "Alpha Alexander told us to take the pups and that you will be paid for giving birth to them." My heart stopped, my body went numb, and my face turned pale. I knew his parents couldn’t stand my presence. No one could because I was the worthless Omega of their damn pack. I knew he had another woman his parents wanted him to mark as his mate because she was beautiful and a daughter of an Alpha. While me? I was a nobody, an omega who had a one-night stand with the Alpha at a club, and him f*cking me that day was a mistake. But still, I was the mother of the twins. He couldn’t separate me from them. They were too young. And again, they were the only friends I had for the nine months growing in my womb. "P-please, don’t take them away from me." I cried out, landing on the ground with my knees, ready to beg Alpha Alexander’s beta. "You should be lucky that the soon-to-be Luna didn’t kill you when she learned you were carrying the Alpha’s kids." More tears rushed down my face as I dropped my head to the floor in embarrassment. I was just trying to experience what other girls felt in their final years when having s*x. I didn’t know it would lead to this. But whatever had happened had happened. Let bygones be bygones. No, I wouldn’t let them take my kids away. "T-they are not his kids!" I blurted out without a second thought as the two men were already at the door, ready to leave. I knew they were just waiting for Beta Lucas’ instructions. "Omega," Beta Lucas’ face was already blue with rage to hear that, "who doesn’t know that the kids belong to the Alpha?" He growled, and my heart, which was pounding in my chest, stopped. "Do you know the crime of lying?" I nodded my head vigorously in fear that I was about to paint the Alpha as a liar. "Where are the kids?" I heard a voice from outside the room, and I curled myself into a ball, pleading to the goddess to make me disappear. She was here! The soon-to-be Luna was here! "Lady Laura." I could hear Beta Lucas call in acknowledgement, and I froze. Something popped into my mind with the thought that I would never see my kids again, which left me unable to stop fighting for them. I faced her. "L-Lady Laura. Y-you can’t do..." Smack! Smack! Smack! Three slaps that I didn’t expect landed across my face, blinding my vision. "How dare you spout nonsense to me after what you did? Are you out of your mind, omega?" She had to finish with the word "Omega" to put me in my rightful place. "B-but you can’t take the kids away from me. I am their mother." "Hahaha!" My statement that I had courageously brought out made her laugh hard, and I could see a tear drop from her eyes. "Now listen carefully to me, you prostitute!" I couldn’t look at her anymore, so I dropped my eyes, feeling ashamed to be called that in front of my kids even though they were young. "You were just a vessel. I am their real mother now!" I felt pain cover my heart as if a silver needle had been squeezed through my chest to my heart. "And thank you so much for giving birth to twins because from now on, I will be the mother of twins." I jolted my head and faced her, but she had already turned to face the beta and the two men. "You can go. I need to talk to this homewrecker first." With her permission, they were already moving out of the room when the realization that all of this was serious and that I wasn’t dreaming dawned on me. "N-no! Y-you can’t take them away from me. They are my children. I just gave birth to them and I still feel the pain. Please don’t do this to me." I cried louder than before, crawling and landing at Laura’s feet. "I am a woman like you. Please don’t do this." "When you shamelessly undressed yourself for a man that didn’t belong to you, did you think of that?" She moved back, causing me to hit the floor. 'I didn’t know he was the Alpha. And you are not even his mate,' my wolf jumped, wanting me to release her. But I didn’t, I couldn’t, especially not now that I was in so much pain. "Stay away from the packhouse, and if I ever see your face again, I will make you regret being born to see me." She spat on my face, then rushed out of the room, leaving me crawling behind her. "P-please.! Don’t take them away from me! After all the months of struggling to survive with them in my womb, why now?" I cried, but no one was there to listen to me. I was all by myself. I had just given birth, but now, I was all by myself. I wished my parents were alive.DANIELA’S POV "You said I was part witch, right?" I panted, my hybrid form heaving with exhaustion."You saw what I did to save Alexander two days ago!"I pushed myself upright, chest rising and falling in ragged bursts. I waved my hands toward the ceiling, eyes squeezed shut, jaws clenched so tight my teeth ached. Power should have surged through me. Sparks. Flames. Anything. But the air stayed dead and heavy. Nothing stirred."It's not working!""Of course it cannot work." The voice sliced through the dimness. I spun toward it, yanking the gun from my back pocket in one fluid motion. Sweat stung my eyes as I leveled the barrel.Gloria stood there, solid and untouched, as if the hellhole around us had never worn her down."What do you want?" I demanded, finger steady on the trigger. She took one step."No. Do not move. Stay right there or I will shoot." My voice cracked with raw warning."Do not be harsh, dear." She waved my threat aside like smoke, her lips curving.I swallowed har
DANIELA’S POVI claimed I had a plan, but the truth twisted inside me like thorns. My mind still churned in chaos, yet one clear need burned through the haze: I had to act. I stepped away from the group and pulled out my phone. My fingers flew across the screen as I issued sharp orders to my men, my voice low and steady on each call. When the last confirmation came through, I slipped the device away and returned to where Alexander waited with his guards."I need to get going. It is not a good idea for you to come with your—""No. Let’s go." Alexander cut me off before I could finish. He waved sharply at one of his men, who rushed forward to help maneuver the wheelchair.I stared at the scene, my chest tight, but I held my tongue. There was no point fighting him now. I turned on my heel and walked to my own car parked beside his convoy. The engine roared to life under my hands."You better wait. We go together!" Alexander’s voice carried across the space.A reluctant smile tugged at my
DANIELA’S POVYes. I knew exactly what I needed to do.My eyes snapped open and a slow deadly smile curved at the corner of my lips as an idea flashed through my mind.I inhaled deeply, forcing my trembling muscles to relax while trying to push away the tension Gloria had built inside me moments ago. Then I tightened my grip around the steering wheel and started the car.“Good girl, Niela,” I whispered to myself softly. The name hit me harder than expected.Niela.That was what my parents used to call me when I was younger.Or perhaps the people I thought were my parents.A strange ache spread through my chest.Did my real parents call me that too?I swallowed hard and pushed the thought away immediately. This was not the time.My pups were in danger.Nothing else mattered.I pressed harder on the accelerator, the car speeding down the road while my mind raced faster than the engine itself. For my plan to work, everything had to be perfect.Every single thing.I just hoped I wasn’t al
DANIELA’S POV“S-she did this to you?”My breath caught at the sight before me.The bandages wrapped around Alphonce’s leg were stained faintly with blood, and the ugly dark veins spreading beneath his skin looked far worse now that I was seeing them up close. My stomach twisted violently. My fingers trembled at my sides while my eyes remained fixed on the wound.“Yeah.” Alphonce’s voice came out low.His face remained calm, almost too calm, but the tightness around his jaw betrayed him. Even breathing looked painful for him.“It could’ve been worse if I hadn’t escaped.”I swallowed hard.“Why didn’t you tell me?” My voice cracked slightly. “That day… was this why you disappeared for so long?”He nodded once.Shame washed over me instantly.I looked away from him, my chest tightening painfully.“I’m such a terrible friend.”“Stop it.” His voice sharpened immediately.“That’s the truth.” I rubbed my forehead roughly. “How could I not notice something like this?”Alphonce sighed and dra
DANIELA’S POV “Alexander?” The name slipped out of my mouth before I even understood what I was doing. It felt as if someone had taken control of my voice. I let go of Vivian’s hand and stood up. My chest felt tight. My breathing was uneven. It was time. I could not keep running from him forever.
DANIELA’S POV “How is she?” I whispered under my breath as I moved through the sterile, echoing corridors of the hospital, my heels clicking sharply against the tile. Each step felt heavier than the last, like gravity had decided my chest was a boulder to carry. My hands were trembling, though I tr
DANIELA’S POV “I have been lenient with you since I stepped inside this place, Laura. But enough is enough.” My voice broke through the room like a roar. The sound bounced off the concrete walls. My anger rose with every breath. My wolf paced inside me, clawing at the edges, begging to be released
DANIELA’S POV The warehouse crouched at the edge of the old industrial district like a forgotten beast. Rust clung to its bones. Shadows clung to its corners. When Thomas pulled the car to a stop, the air outside tasted like metal and damp concrete. A lonely bulb above the steel door flickered, its
