The medical report shook in my hand as I read it over and over again. The nurse passed the ring to me, a wide smile on her face. “Miss, you're truly lucky. That diamond ring is so beautiful. Your husband loves you so much,” she said. Without a word, I pushed myself off the seat, taking the ring from her. I couldn't say a word. I could still remember what they had said. Did they say all that intentionally yesterday? I wasn't sure what to believe. The ring stayed in the passenger seat. I couldn't put it on, no matter how much the medical report claimed I could. Back in my office, I stared at it in between my fingers, the report flashing through my mind and the words of the two people I trusted most. Plots to kill me. I shut my eyes as I felt a pang of headache. For hours I had not gotten enough sleep and my brain has been constantly working. My phone dinged, and I picked it up to a message from Benjamin. [Hey, love. I've replaced the old ring.] Followed by it was a picture of a new ring in a box, glittering behind the camera. [I can't wait to put it on you. I'll leave you to work now. I love you.] Reading those words ached my heart. Benjamin always sent me messages when I was at work. It wasn't at every minute of the day, but at specified hours. I loved it. It always made me feel he still had me in his heart, but now I didn't feel butterflies. I felt dread. Fear that all this while he was so good at hiding it. He was so good at killing me while kissing me good nights and promising forever. The telephone on the table rang, snapping me out of my thoughts. I wiped the tears off my faces, sniffling before picking it up. “I'm sorry, Miss Lucille. I know you requested not to be disturbed, but...” Kristy paused, the fear dripping out of her silence. “What is it?” I asked. “Giovanni King Russo,” was all she said, and my heart dropped to my stomach. “Stop them!” I ordered. Kristy's voice shook. “They are already headed for your office. We couldn't stop them,” I heard the footsteps approaching my office. Slowly, I placed the telephone down, swallowing hard as the footsteps came to a halt before my office. “Would you need me to knock, Miss Lucille?” his voice rang through the hallway into my office, thunderous, sending a shiver of fright through my spine. “Come-” Before I could finish, the door was opened by his personal assistant as they both strolled into my office as though they owned it. Before they shut the door behind them, I saw the other body guards in at ease outside the door. Giovanni's eyes remained sharp on me, his lips curved up in a smug smile. For a man known to be ruthless, he was extraordinarily handsome. His cologne quickly overshadowed my air freshener. He took a seat without an invitation. “Miss Lucille, they always complimented your customer service. I didn't expect them to be lying,” he said. My gaze sent daggers his way, but he didn't flinch. In fact, he seemed amused. One thing I hated about him. How calm he was despite doing horrible things. Giovanni King Russo, the man I stood before the jury to speak against. I knew I was driving myself head first into danger when I chose to take up a case that went directly against him. I won, nonetheless, but his eyes have followed me ever since. For the past six months, he has requested an appointment, but I refused seeing him. I didn't know what he wanted, and I didn't want to know. He was a dangerous man. A Mafia who killed with no mercy. Even though he hasn't been convicted for that, I could see it in his eyes. My client disappeared only a week after the case was in his favour. Some say he had made it rich after the settlement and decided to elope, but I couldn't buy it. Giovanni had a hand in it. “Are you scared of me, Miss Lucille?” he asked, his amused gaze boring into me. “I can never be scared of you,” I said, fortunately keeping my fear in check. He smiled. “Perfect. I thought you will after making me lose billions,” I wasn't sure if that was a warning. He signalled for his assistant, who handed him a file. “Handle that,” he tossed the file on the table. I leaned back, a smile on my face. “I thought my refusal to approve your appointment was a sign that I don't wish to have any business with you,” “Turning down a client now, Miss Lucille?” he said, tilting his head. “You're not a client,” I said firmly. He smiled but stayed silent. His gaze made me self conscious, and I sat up, adjusting my jacket. “You didn't seem to have gotten enough sleep last night,” he pointed out. I instinctively brought my hand to my face. I had covered my eye bags with make up. Didn't I do it right? I stared at him. He was trying to throw me off. “I do not appreciate being insulted in my office, Mr. Russo,” I said. The side of his lips curved up. “Name your price to take on the case,” he said. “Nothing because I won't,” I told him, locking eyes with him. He didn't blink and so did I. “You're the only one I trust to take on the case,” he said. Like that was to convince me. “My answer remains the same. You have a lawyer,” I said. “Dead,” he simply said. I raised a brow, trying to understand. “He is dead, Miss Lucille,” his assistant bowed. My eyes quickly dropped to Giovanni. “You killed him,” I said. “Anything useless deserves to die,” he said calmly, like a life didn't matter. “Do you agree to take on the case?” he asked firmly. Even if I wanted to, this truth only gave me conviction to refuse. “No,” “I'll give you time, Miss Lucille,” he said, rising. “I would never agree,” I said. “You will. I always get what I want, Miss Lucille,” he said. “I'm not one to be forced to do your bidding,” “I don't force no one. You will come to me willingly.” He locked eyes with me, his smile unwavering. Once the door shut behind him, my muscles relaxed. It flared up again when I got a call, Harvey breathing heavily as he called desperately. “Mommy, help!”Lucille’s POV“I love that. Perfect, perfect, perfect,” the wedding planner clapped. “We are ready for the wedding.”I glanced at King who smiled at me. “I must say you two are a beautiful couple and you have been flawless throughout the rehearsal,” she added.“I have to be,” King said, pulling me into him by the waist. “Or I would not hear the end of it.”I slapped his chest playfully. I wanted everything to be perfect. From the lightning to our vows, I didn’t need the official rehearsal day to prepare for it. I was always rehearsing. King saw me and chose to join me but he was horrible. He either smiled too much or instead of looking at my face was staring at my boobs or my lips. Sometimes he even forgot his lines because he was picturing me naked even though there was a ninety percent chance he just saw me naked five minutes ago.Even right now, I was soaking in his cum and there was something about it that made me feel turned on. The thing was, even though he was wild, he still to
Lucille’s POVThe lights came on, flower petals rained with the help of a helicopter. I stared at it in awe, raising my shoulders to protect my ears. There were people gathered all around us forming a small circle.I even spotted Matheew. I spun around to King, trying to understand what was happening when a plane came flying. A few hoops later and the words became clear. I turned to King and found him on one knee.“I know it’s sudden but I’ve loved you for a long time, Lucille. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to care for you like a husband would and I want to have the title of being your husband. So will you do me the honor of accepting me as your husband?”I clasped a hand over my mouth, unable to contain the heat that curled up my cheeks. “Yes.”***“That looks tacky.” Mathew shook his head in disapproval.“Horrible.” Niva said next.I went back in, got helped into another dress and stepped out again. Mathew scrunched his nose and Niva just shook her head. Weddi
Lucille’s POVKing licked his fingers clean of my essence. I stepped back, letting him have a good view of me. “Sit,” I said.He obliged in a second, taking off his shirt and tossing it to the side. “You just lost a good shirt,” I said.“I can always get another. I need nothing holding me back,” he said.My eyes dropped to his bulge and swallowed. There are other places he should not hold back but who was I to judge? He smiled. “You will see me anytime you wish to, Amore,” he said.I slowly shrugged off the jacket, letting it slide off my arms and form a pool around my legs. I stepped away from it and gave a slow three sixty. His eyes were glued to me all the way. When I finally faced him fully, he was on his feet. He held my waist, gaze locked on mine. “Where did you… you’ve had this on all along?” he asked.“Do you not like it?” I asked with a smile. It could barely be called a dress. My nipples were covered by only a thin strap which slid crossways to form a small skirt that barely
Lucille’s POVKing knew my plans. He knew what I planned, yet he didn’t stop me. He played along like always. “Did I pass the test, Amore?” he said, grabbing me by the waist and pulled me into him.“You…” punch “foolish…” punch “piece of shit” punch. He really wasn’t being nice about his hits. “I guess he truly live up to his promise,” I said.“What promise?” King asked.I slid my hand up his chest, hooking my fingers behind his neck. “He said if she falls into his hands again, she would regret it,” I said then glanced at the couple. “He’s making do of that.”I stared at Katherine. Her arms were up trying to protect her face but they were barely doing anything. Every hit reached the mark. She couldn’t fight him. He was her one mistake. He was the one person which she judged wrong and it almost cost her life.He was the perfect gentleman on the outside yet on the inside he was rotten to his core. His wife was no different. Every day she endured beatings. She ended up in the ER. I paid
King’s POV“Boss.” Gary rushed over and whispered. “She’s in.”“And she let her?” I asked.I couldn’t get an answer before the room turned silent. A shift in the atmosphere. The room gave way for the lady with a mask. She walked like she owned the place and the ladies who gathered around me seemed to dissipate. She walked with confidence, her hips swayed back and forth with every moment, eyes locked on like I was prey. Her confidence far exudes her. No matter how much make up or masks she puts on, I could recognize her a mile away. When she steps close, her perfume was close to throwing me off my feet and not in a good way.One that would end up taking her life. I sent her a glare. A warning. One that she should take seriously and not play dumb with her life but she did not. Instead, she took it as an invitation. She was always crazy but it seemed she became worse after her bad breakup.Katherine had no life now. With a sex scandal and an additional one brought in by Benjamin’s offici
Lucille’s POVFriday night…Summer…And a room filled with naked women dancing all around. I stood at the balcony, overseeing the room below. King sat at the centre of attention, a smoke on one hand and vodka on the other. He had on that face of his that sent almost every lady running ten feet away, yet a few still dared come close. Trying and touching my prize. I sent a text. Me: Not having fun?He placed his drink down, taking out his phone. The side of his lips curved up as he typed away. My phone vibrated a second later. King: Is this a test?Me: What do you think?King: Whatever it is, I cannot enjoy it if you’re not here.I was about to send a response when something caught my attention. A lady ran a hand through his chest. “Boss, would you like to have some fun?”She bent over secductively, trying to show off her bossoms. Me: You sure gain attention anywhere you go.He was about to read it when the lady called out to him again. I unfortunately did not get what she said but it s
Lucille's POV “Here boss,” the lady that was meant to be dead said, handing a key to King.I blinked a couple of times, staring at the face of the woman I had shot on my very first day in this club. So much so it traumatized me.However, there was a difference. That lady was quivering just at the
Lucille’s POVKing pulled me into him, his hand around my head as the glass at my side shattered as well. “Out!” King ordered the driver.I heard the gun clock as he got out of the car. My body shivered at the sound of the gun. A loud thud followed and a splash of something which reached my face.I
Lucille’s POVWith Harvey at my side, we went for the door of the house. After a twist of the key in the hole, the door flung open, revealing an open living room. The sofas were distances away from each other, a massive television at the side. The blue paint wasn't exactly the colour I liked, but
Lucille's POV I struggled with the ropes around my wrists, but they were too tight. Pulling too much only got me bruised. I stopped when I heard footsteps approaching. “I’m sorry, Miss Lucille, old habits,” Josephine snapped her fingers and her men retracted their guns. “Get her out of those dam
