Aria’s POV

I brought out a book to distract my mind. As I kept reading, I heard the sound of the wheels approaching and that alerted me that he was back.

Then he suddenly stopped advancing behind me. After what seemed like forever, he asked; “Carbonara or Bolognese?”

My brows furrowed in confusion, wondering if he was talking to someone else or me. He had made it known that he doesn't like me talking to him, and I plan on maintaining that lane.

“For the last time, Carbonara or Bolognese?” His tone was hard and that made me whipped my head around involuntarily.

His sleeves were rolled up to his elbow, revealing his veiny arms and the first few buttons of his shirt were undone. Does he plan on cooking?

We stared at each other longer before I began reading meanings to his action. Is this his way of apologizing?

“You're planning on cooking for us?” I asked to be sure. He didn't acknowledge that and only kept staring at me with that blank expression.

I rolled my eyes before facing front, “I'm not hungry,” I also have my pride to keep.

“We've more than fifteen hours before we arrive in Italy, and I'm only cooking this once if you can't…”

“I said I'm not hungry,” I snapped, turning back, “Why do you care so much if I'm the ‘unimportant person’?”

“I don't care, get that straight. But you're my responsibility and I can't possibly watch you starve.”

I scoffed, “Tryna be the perfect gent when you're not?” I eyed him, “I'm old enough to take care of myself mister,” I spat out before sinking back in my seat.

“Suit yourself then,” he muttered before turning away. And at that instant, my stomach growled, mocking me.

I really hate it when I'm helpless and tried to rely on someone. In as much as I tried to continue reading, a minute after he left felt like an hour.

Screw this.

I stood up and went to meet him inside the kitchen. He was bringing out some ingredients in the fridge.

This would be really embarrassing. I scratched the back of my neck, clearing my throat as I stepped in.

“I-I'm actually a vegan so I think carbonara would be the best option,” I said, trying not to stuttered. I prayed inwardly for him not to ask me questions and he didn't.

I remained where I was, watching him does his thing. He looks meticulous slicing the carrots and other vegetables.

Stepping forward, I cleared my throat again before speaking; “I wanna make myself useful. What can I help you with?” I asked him carefully, trying not to seem like an intruder.

“Onions.” He instructed without looking at me, and I nodded immediately. Went to wash my hands and joined him.

The sound of a knife on the chopping board filled the room the next second.

“So… we are preparing Carbonara, right?” I wanted to confirm if he heard me. His hands halted, confusing me with his movement before he stared at me blankly.

I hope I hadn't asked anything wrong this time.

“There's no ‘we’. I'm the one cooking this meal.” He emphasized. I pursued my lips before nodding slowly.

He can take the credit.

“Yeah sure.” I smiled stiffly.

“There's no free lunch without opportunity cost.” He said as he continued to slice the pepper.

“That is to say?”

“You'll take the couch and I'll take the bed once we arrive in Italy.”

“What?” My eyes widened, dropping the knife.

“I make the meals. You take the couch.”

“We’re making the meal together,”

“I didn't ask for your help.”

“Oops.” I murmured. So he wasn't being nice? I gazed at him with a gentle gaze, lowering to what he had been chopping since forever. He was trying to make each slice equal.

“It’s gonna be a tiring work to figure out your personality.” I muttered under my breath, and as expected. He didn't respond.

I sighed deeply before washing my hands. I'm giving out something so I don't have to help him. I took a seat and watched him.

“Can I say something?” I asked after much hesitations. I got no response so I took it as a yes.

“Let's establish a new relationship.” I noticed that his ear flicked when I said this.

“I get that you're the type of person that gets upset easily which is totally fine. While I'm the one who is stuck with you in an unknown city we're heading at for a few weeks,” I paused.

“I want us to always apologize to each other and tell ourselves whenever the other person does something we don't like. Just like what happened earlier.”

I wasn't going to make him apologize but be cautious of the way he speaks to me. He scoffed softly before looking at me with a wry smile.

“Don't get this little nicety of mine into your head. I do things however I want them to be done so keep me away from your d@mn etiquettes.”

I shot over the countertop and flicked his ear with my fingers. He couldn't react to dodge on time.

“For every cuss word, you get that and vice versa.” I said, standing up, “I'll be at the cabin, so enjoy cooking our meals alone, hubby.” the word sounded mockery as I pushed the chair backward and left. A very stubborn big baby.

  • Falling In Love With The Disabled Heir   Chapter Thirty-Four: My Wife

Aria's POVIt had been a few days since we arrived back in Australia, and everything had returned to a predictable routine. My classes kept me occupied, and per Jameson’s suggestion, I had started taking cooking lessons with the chef. The days passed in a cycle—studying, cooking, and occasionally calling Mia to check up on her. Our call frequency had gone back to normal, yet something still didn’t feel right.Jameson had disappeared. He left shortly after we arrived, and I had no idea where he went. No texts, no calls—nothing. At first, I told myself it didn’t matter. He wasn’t obligated to check in with me, and I certainly wasn’t going to be the one to reach out first. But the more time passed, the harder it became to ignore the urge to check up on him. I had even considered using our workout sessions as an excuse to call, but I quickly dismissed the idea. He would probably see right through me and assume I was desperate to hear from him.Glancing at the clock, I saw it was already

  • Falling In Love With The Disabled Heir   Chapter Thirty-Three: Departure

Aria's POV I leaned back in my seat, scrolling through my phone with a satisfied grin. It had been over six hours since we boarded the plane, and boredom was starting to creep in. Jameson had been awfully quiet, staring blankly at his tablet, but I knew he wasn’t really paying attention to it. I didn’t mind, though. I had my own form of entertainment, reading some ridiculous memes on X.“Hey, listen to this one,” I said, giggling before I even finished reading. I've been reading out any memes I find both entertaining and ridiculous.“It’s a question, actually. Which one do you think is funnier—a female n@ked body or the male’s?” I barely finished the sentence before bursting into laughter. I had no idea why I found it so funny, but the absurdity of it was enough to make me crack up. Not like it has ever crossed my mind. Expecting no response from Jameson, I continued scrolling, still chuckling to myself when he suddenly turned his head toward me, his sharp gaze flickered at me.“Yo

  • Falling In Love With The Disabled Heir   Chapter Thirty-Two: Classes

Aria's POV I stared at my laptop screen, my fingers hovering over the keyboard as my professor’s voice droned on about molecular structures. Biochemistry—ugh, not my favorite subject. But I had to endure it. At least it was a distraction from the awkward silent atmosphere lingering in the room.I heard a soft knock on the door before Jameson wheeled in. I glanced up at him out of instinct but I didn’t greet him, and he didn’t greet me either, but I could feel his gaze on me. He had a habit of disappearing without a word, and after what happened a few days ago, I wasn’t exactly in the mood to entertain him. My palm had healed enough that I didn’t need the bandage anymore, though I still felt a faint sting when I moved my hand too fast. It wasn’t serious, but still, I had rather not push it.Out of nowhere, he spoke. “You need to change your clothes.” I blinked and turned my head toward him. “Excuse me?” I raised a brow. He had seen me in this when we had breakfast together.“Daniel

  • Falling In Love With The Disabled Heir   Chapter Thirty-One: Silent Treatment

Aria’s POVThe moment we stepped out of the building, Avery was already gushing about how much fun she had.“Oh my God, I can’t wait to come back here! That was amazing,” she squealed, turning to Liam, who just chuckled at her enthusiasm.I forced a smile, nodding along as if I agreed. But truthfully? I had never been more uncomfortable in my entire life than I was during the game session. The period was a disaster on my end. I didn’t even want to glance at Jameson as we made our way to the car.Avery and Liam continued chatting, still caught up in their excitement, but I was too upset to engage. My mood was at rock bottom. We had embarrassed ourselves enough in front of those couples, and Jameson’s final words in that game still made my blood boil. I was on my period, so I used that as an excuse to decline Avery's suggestion to go see a movie.“I think the cramps are getting worse,” I muttered, holding my stomach. Her excitement dimmed as she placed a hand on my arm. “Oh no, do you

  • Falling In Love With The Disabled Heir   Chapter Thirty: Game

Aria’s POVThe past few days had been filled with working out with Jameson—if I could even call it that. Most of the time, it felt like a battlefield. I've also started my online classes the previous day.One thing that had been bothering me though, was that I hadn’t seen Logan. Not once. And that meant I still had his handkerchief. It wasn’t a big deal, but every time I saw it lying on my dresser, it reminded me that I needed to return it.But today, that wasn’t my main concern.Today, we were supposed to accompany Mrs. Harrison and her husband to the local market. But Jameson has bluntly shot down the idea. I understood why, he hated drawing attention to himself and since he would be using a machine to help him walk, people would definitely stare. So instead, we settled on going to a couple’s game center. Mrs. Harrison had been the one to suggest it, saying it would be fun, and when she described the games, I couldn’t help but feel excited. It sounded like something I would enjoy.

  • Falling In Love With The Disabled Heir   Chapter Twenty-Nine: Promise

Aria's POV I stepped out of the bathroom after what felt like forever, drying my damp hair with a towel. The shower I took was just to cover up for what happened. My heart was still racing a little at the thought. The embarrassment. The kiss. The way he had looked at me. Blush crept my cheeks, his words lingering in my head.I shook my head, trying to push the thoughts away. I avoided looking at him, but from the corner of my eye, I could tell he was occupied with something, probably his phone. And soon, a sudden knock on the door made me startled."It’s Daniel," he said flatly, without looking up.I hurried to open the door, stepping aside as Daniel wheeled in a different kind of wheelchair—sleek, modern, and more advanced than the ones I had seen before. I watched quietly as he helped Jameson stand with its assistance, adjusting the settings carefully. My chest tightened a little as I observed the process. I didn’t know why, but seeing him having to rely on a machine to do someth
