When I woke up an hour later, Dominic was stretched out across the sofa, but my father wasn't present.

I thought maybe he'd gone to get some rest at home, or maybe food at the cafeteria. Either was fine, to be honest. I didn't want him wearing out himself by being in this hospital room with me all day.
