LOGINAisha’s POV
Laughter, clinking glasses, music vibrating through polished floors of the reception hall when Fiona and I walked in.
The kind of celebration that should have felt warm.
Instead, my chest tightened.
Kyle was already seated at our table.
Across from me.
My feet stalled, instinctively trying to turn the other way, but Fiona’s hand wrapped around my wrist and pulled me down into the chair beside her.
“Show him he has no hold over you.”
She whispered.
I looked up.
His gaze was already on me.
A glass of whiskey rested between his fingers as his eyes dragged slowly over my face, like he was searching for something he had rights to find. My heart betrayed me immediately, hammering so hard I could hear it over the music.
For a second, nostalgia crept in before I could stop it.
It reminded me of why London felt safer.
Safer because he wasn’t there.
I reached for the first glass of wine the server offered me.
And then another.
And another.
Kyle’s seat was empty when I looked again.
“He probably took a smoke break,” Fiona whispered with a grin.
The elderly guests began to leave soon after, and the atmosphere shifted almost immediately. The bride changed her outfit. The music deepened. Laughter grew louder.
After party time.
Fiona dragged me onto the dance floor, and this time, I didn’t resist.
If London had taught me anything, it was how to forget.
So I danced. Slowly forgetting that there was a man here who hated me for causing the accident of his sister.

Kyle’s POV
The moment I saw her at the church, my anger had faltered.
But watching her now…
Watching her dance in the hall, I realized how much she had changed.
She was no longer the quiet, awkward girl who used to trail behind Ethan with oversized hoodies and messy braids. Her dark brown hair framed her face as she moved, light caramel skin catching under the chandelier lights with every turn.
She was softer.
More feminine.
I downed the rest of my whiskey.
Why the hell was I even noticing?
She laughed at something Fiona said, her head tipping back slightly, completely unaware of the way people were beginning to watch her.
Including me.
My jaw tightened.
Cara’s laugh echoed faintly in the back of my mind.
The screech of tires.
The sound of metal folding in on itself.
Four years.
Four fucking years.
And now Aisha was back like nothing had happened.
Aisha’s POV
As I danced, a memory from years ago invaded my mind. The thirteen-year-old me, desperate, confessing feelings I shouldn’t have. He had just returned from a race with Ethan.
Seven years ago
“Kyle, wait!” I called after him in my hoodie, out of breath.
He turned back with a smile. “Do you need anything, kiddo?”
I smiled awkwardly. I hated that he called me kiddo. “No, not really.”
“So why are you outside, kiddo? It’s freezing,” he said as he walked closer.
“I’m not a kid anymore. I’ve gotten my period. So I’m a woman now,” I said proudly.
He burst into laughter. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
I smiled. “No, I’m not. You want to see?”
“No, no…” he immediately stepped back, trying to hold in his laughter. “It’s a good thing you’ve gotten your… period, Isha. But you’re still a child.”
“No, I’m not,” I argued.
He chuckled. “Go inside, Isha. Ethan is probably looking for you now,” he said as he turned to walk away.
“I love you!” I blurted out, stopping him in his tracks.
I shook my head, trying to erase the memory of my stupidity, but it clung stubbornly to my thoughts. I left the dance floor and went to a waiter. I proceeded to take a glass of wine.
“That’s enough.”
I turned.
Kyle stood behind me, his hand already signaling the server to step back.
“How dare you, Kyle Leicester!” I jabbed a finger into his chest before I could stop myself. “Just because you’re older doesn’t give you the right to stop me from drinking.”
“You’re drunk.”
Before I could respond, Ethan appeared beside us.
“Isha, are you okay?”
Relief washed over me instantly.
“Oh my sweet brother,” I slurred, cupping his face. “Congratulations on your wedding.”
He laughed softly before turning to Kyle.
“Please take her home. I don’t know where Fiona is.”
“No, I’m fine,” I protested weakly.
Kyle didn’t respond.
He simply lifted me into his arms.
“It’s easier this way,” he said when Ethan raised a brow.
And then he walked out.
Kyle’s POV
I placed her in the passenger seat and shut the door harder than necessary before getting in.
Despite everything, Ethan trusted me to get her home safely.
And I would.
We had been best friends since we were five.
There was no way I would let his sister’s mistake ruin our friendship.
But as I drove toward the Manchester mansion, her presence beside me made it impossible to ignore the truth.
Seeing her again was stirring up everything I had buried all those years ago.
And I hated it.
•
I pulled the car came to a stop in front of the Manchester Mansion.
I got out of the car and lifted her in my arms again, ignoring the feel of her soft body on mine.
I gestured to the servant to direct me to her room. On getting there, I placed her on the bed.
Her fingers curled weakly into the collar of my shirt.
“Grumpy old man,” she mumbled.
Who the hell was she calling old? I wasn’t even thirty yet.
I took her hands off my shirt. “Go to sleep, Aisha.”
She smiled.
“I have always loved the way you called my name.”
She turned her face to the side and closed her eyes.
A sinking feeling settled in my stomach.
Did she still think of that night? Did she not let go of her puppy love?
I shook my head, pushing the foolish thought away. It had been seven years since that childish confession.
And besides, I could never forgive her for what she did to Cara.
I straightened and turned to leave when her hand wrapped around my wrist.
“Kyle…”
Her voice came out barely above a whisper.
“Please stay.”
I stopped. Different thoughts swirling in my head. I clenched my fist as anger submerged in me.
Slowly, I turned back to look at her. Her eyes were still closed.
“You shouldn’t have come back, Aisha.”
Aisha’s POVThe day to showcase the jewelry designs finally came. I stood in the design department as I studied each of the sketches hanging on the canvas board. I bypassed a few, hardly impressed by any.A few designs stood out and I acknowledged their effort. Fine lining of sun kissed sketches, turquoise gemstones placed with intentions. Promising, but not enough. What they missed was the essence. The delicate elegance. The tropical softness. The beach-born energy a summer collection should breathe.“Some of these designs are worth bringing into the light. The rest are quite unworthy to be seen, I must say.”I looked at each of them. Uneasiness rippled across their faces.“Give us more time, Ms. Manchester,” Rochelle said.“Time is not on our side. Summer is here.”“We can…”I lifted a finger. She stopped immediately.I pointed at three sketches. “These will be part of the collection, but not the leading pieces.”“But without a leading collection, how do we launch?” Rochelle asked.
Aisha’s POVI sent a text to Oliver as I had promised just as Fiona burst through the door.“Hey, boss lady,” she said, dropping her bag before placing a kiss on my cheek.“Finally,” I grinned. She plopped onto the bed.“I’ve finally proven to Daddy that Fernando isn’t the right man for me. The violent side he displayed, I had it recorded.”“That’s absurd. Why did he smash your phone?” I asked.“Your call came in, and you know the way I saved your number.”I nodded. We had both saved each other's names as My Other Half with lots of emojis.“He thought it was a guy and started calling me a whore. I didn’t even bother explaining because there was no way I was wasting my breath on him. I picked up the phone to answer, and he grabbed my phone and smashed it.” She hissed. “The lunatic.”I stifled a laugh. “What did you do to him?”A wicked grin spread across her face. “Oh, nothing at all. I had already planned to ruin the night and even arranged for someone to record us. Turns out, he ruin
Aisha’s POV“What?” I tried to mask my horror.“I’m carrying Kyle’s baby,” Yvonne announced, and I could see the evil glint in her eyes.My stomach knotted and my fragmented heart shattered again.I wouldn’t let her know she got to me.“And why are you telling me this?”“Like I said, I wanted you to be the first person to hear it before it gets to the media,” she said, seeming pleased with herself.I looked at Kyle. His expression didn’t deny what Yvonne had just said.“You knew about this?” I asked, hoping my voice wouldn’t betray me.He stared at me blankly. “Yes.”I scoffed. “How long? Before we got to Atlanta or after we returned to Winchester?”“While we were in Atlanta,” he responded without an iota of guilt. While I was busy feeling loved, he knew his ex was pregnant with his child.I chuckled dryly. She was never his ex after all.“Congratulations.”The word almost choked in my throat. I walked away from them.I should have known. The moment we landed, he spent more time on hi
Kyle’s POVWhen I saw Aisha walking toward the boardroom, she looked like power wrapped in elegance. She was dressed in black as though she owned the walls themselves.A tailored blazer hugged her frame with effortless grace, draping over a fitted top that revealed confidence without trying too hard.High waisted trousers flowed down her legs, sharp and refined, while a slim belt with gold hardware cinched her waist with quiet sophistication.Gold hoops framed her face like tiny crowns, catching the light every time she moved. Her dark brown hair was pulled into a sleek center part that made her look untouchable. Cold in the most beautiful way.Something tightened in my chest. She had spoken to me like a woman in power earlier, and now every step she took carried authority. The kind that silenced a room before a single word was spoken.I deliberately left the head seat for her. After all, she was the one taking control of this company. She sat down.“You kept us waiting,” Charles said.
Aisha’s POVI tried Fiona’s number for the third time as I walked into the house. It still wasn’t connecting. I hadn’t been able to reach her since yesterday.I saw Marie Ann instructing Ernest on where to place dinner on the dining table.“Aisha, you’re back,” she smiled when she saw me.“Yes,” I smiled back. “Is Ethan back too?”She shook her head. “He said he would be running late. We can go ahead and have dinner without him.”“Oh,” I sighed. “I’m not hungry though. You can go ahead,” I added, turning toward the stairs.“Aisha, wait,” she called after me. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you.”I turned around. “About?”“Oliver. He’s a good man, honestly. Ethan and I think he would be a good match for you.”I shrugged. She had never spoken to me about boys before. Not like this.“Umm, Marie…”“I know, I know,” she sighed. “You’re Kyle’s girlfriend.”“No, I’m not. We ended the contract,” I said quickly. Her eyes widened in surprise. “For real?”I nodded.“Ethan will be so happy to hear t
Aisha’s POVI walked into D’Lise Designs building ready to take over the business.I’m doing this all for Cara, I mentally told myself.I met the staff chatting instead of discussing the next summer project.“Please stop being loud. Some of us are still trying to work,” a lady said, and the others jeered at her.I cleared my throat and they all turned to look at me.“And who are you?” One of them snapped.“Is this what you were hired to do here? Sit around and discuss irrelevant things?” I said sharply.“And who the hell are you to question us?” another fired back.“I am your new boss,” my tone remained calm and controlled. I had expected Kyle to brief them before my arrival. But of course, he hadn’t.She snickered. “Oh please. We know our boss, and it’s definitely not you.”Her eyes dragged over me dismissively.“If you’re the CEO, then I’m the president,” another added, and they all laughed.I gave a small smile. “I would show you the paperwork, but I don’t have the time. Are you al
Chapter 27Kyle’s POVI got to the hospital, trying to steady my erratic heartbeat.“Mr. Leicester,” Doctor Jane walked towards me.“Where is she?” I asked immediately, walking past her.“You can’t go in yet. She had a bit of a crisis after she woke up. We’re trying to stabilize her,”She tried to
Chapter 25Yvonne’s POVI flung my phone across the bed in frustration. I was sick of seeing Kyle and Aisha’s pictures and videos everywhere. The charity gala clips. The yacht photos. And now pictures of them together in Atlanta.I groaned loudly. “Arghhh, Aisha! You just had to come back and ruin
Aisha’s POVThe city of Atlanta stretched before me. We had landed a while ago on Kyle’s private plane, and now Theo was driving us to Kyle’s penthouse.“How long are we staying?” I asked Kyle.“A week,” he replied, typing on his phone. He had been on it throughout the entire flight and still hadn’
Aisha's POVFiona and I were done shopping. We had sushi together before she left to attend to something else.It was four PM when she dropped me home, and the client dinner with Kyle was by seven. I still had time.Kyle’s text came in.Are you done shopping?I smiled and typed back.Yes.Let me se
