Mag-log inAlexandra's POV
The train rattled north out of the city, carrying me away from the hotel, away from him, away from the mistake I could still feel between my thighs. I pressed my forehead to the cold window, watching the skyline blur into gray December morning. My reflection stared back—eyes shadowed, lips still swollen from his bites, cheeks flushed with something that wasn’t just shame. I’d done it again. Let someone in, let them see the cracks, then run before they could decide I wasn’t worth keeping. My phone buzzed in my coat pocket. A new client email. Perfect timing. Freelance life never let you wallow for long. The job was in Portland—three weeks of branding for a boutique coffee roaster. Decent pay, decent escape. I’d booked the ticket on the platform last night while Jace slept beside me, his arm slung possessively across my waist. I’d stared at the ceiling for an hour, heart hammering, before slipping out like a thief. Now the city was behind me, and the ache between my legs was the only reminder he’d been real. I arrived in Portland just after noon. The Airbnb was a converted loft above a bookstore in the Pearl District—exposed brick, high ceilings, a clawfoot tub I planned to drown my regrets in later. I dropped my bag, stripped, and stood under the shower until the water ran cold. My skin still bore faint purple marks from his fingers, his mouth. I traced them with soap-slick fingertips, remembering how he’d growled my name when he came inside me. Fuck. Stop. I dressed in black jeans and a soft gray sweater, hair still damp, and headed out to meet the client. The roastery smelled like dark beans and cedar smoke. The owner, Mara—a sharp-eyed woman in her forties—shook my hand and launched straight into mood boards and color palettes. I nodded, sketched, asked the right questions. Professional. Detached. But every time I leaned over the table, the seam of my jeans pressed against the sensitive spot he’d bruised with his hips, and my breath caught. That night I met Caleb. He was one of Mara’s graphic assistants—tall, tattooed forearms, easy smile, the kind of guy who looked like he knew exactly how to make a woman forget her own name for a few hours. We ended up at a dive bar after the meeting, talking fonts and kerning over cheap IPAs. He laughed at my dry humor, touched my arm when he spoke, leaned in close enough that I could smell his cologne—sandalwood and citrus, nothing like Jace’s cedar-and-smoke. When he asked if I wanted to see his place, I said yes. His apartment was small, cluttered with art prints and vinyl records. We didn’t waste time on small talk. He kissed me against the door, hands sliding under my sweater, warm and sure. I kissed him back harder, trying to drown the memory of another mouth, another set of hands. He lifted me onto the kitchen counter. My jeans came off in a rush. He dropped to his knees, pushed my thighs apart, and licked a slow stripe up my center. I moaned—loud, deliberate—wanting to prove I could still feel something other than Jace. Caleb was good. Patient. He teased my clit with soft flicks, then sucked, then slid two fingers inside, curling them just right. The build was steady, familiar, safe. I threaded my fingers through his hair, hips rocking, chasing release. When I came, it was sharp and quick, a bright flash that left me trembling but not shattered. He stood, wiped his mouth, grinning. “Bedroom?” I nodded. We fucked on top of the covers, slow at first, then faster. He was careful, attentive—asked if I liked it deeper, harder, slower. I did. I came again, nails digging into his back, but it felt… polite. Controlled. Like we were both performing satisfaction instead of surrendering to it. After, he rolled off, kissed my shoulder, and asked if I wanted to stay the night. I told him I had an early call. I dressed in the dark while he slept, just like I’d dressed in Jace’s hotel room. Slipped out. Walked the cold streets back to my loft. The clawfoot tub waited. I filled it with scalding water and lavender oil, sank in up to my chin, and let the heat soak into my bones. And then the memories came, uninvited. Jace’s mouth between my thighs, relentless, hungry. The way he’d looked up at me while he licked, eyes dark and possessive. The stretch of him inside me, thick and unyielding, hitting places that made my vision white out. The sound he’d made when I clenched around him—raw, broken, like I’d ruined him. My hand drifted down between my legs almost without thought. I was still sensitive from earlier, but this was different. This was need. I circled my clit slowly, remembering the way he’d pinned my wrists above my head, the way his teeth had grazed my throat. My other hand cupped my breast, pinching the nipple until it ached. I imagined his voice in my ear—low, filthy, telling me to come for him again. The water sloshed as my hips lifted, chasing the ghost of his cock. I slid two fingers inside myself, then three, stretching, mimicking the fullness I still craved. My thumb worked my clit in tight circles, pressure building, fast and desperate. When I came, it was violent—back arching, water spilling over the edge, a choked cry echoing off the tiles. My thighs shook. My chest heaved. And when the aftershocks faded, I was left with tears mixing with bathwater. Because it wasn’t enough. Nothing was enough. I climbed out, wrapped myself in a towel, and padded to the bedroom. My sketchbook lay open on the desk. I flipped to a blank page and started drawing—sharp lines, bold shadows, a man’s profile in the dark. Broad shoulders. Jaw clenched. Eyes that burned. I didn’t label it. I didn’t need to. I closed the book, turned off the light, and crawled into bed alone. Tomorrow I’d work. I’d smile at Mara and Caleb. I’d pretend the night with Jace was just another story I’d tell myself when I was old and safe. But tonight, with the city quiet outside and the ache still pulsing between my legs, I let myself admit the truth. I wanted him again. And I was terrified that I always would.🌹 20 🌹 Vera stood before the pool with a bucket in her hand. “You need to be strong.” She said to herself. “You're doing this for yourself and Jo. Jo needs you to be strong because you need to get out of here and look for her.” She started fetching water from a tap to turn it into the pool. Hours later, she looked down at her palms which were red and swollen. “Jo needs you to be strong!” She slapped herself. “She's always strong so you'll be like her!” She picked the bucket again as tears stream down her cheeks. “Jo is out there somewhere. She needs you to find her and she needs your help. She's in trouble, I can feel it.” And she will teach her parents some lessons. Vera dropped the bucket when pool was half empty and walked back into the house to eat her bread when the sun was already setting. “Are you done?” Sylvester walked into the kitchen. “No, I'll continue tomorrow. I'm hungry and tired and it's already six.” She gulped down the hot coffee and wiped her
🌹 19 🌹 Vera stared hard at the bread in front of her but a completely different thing was playing in her head. She didn't know what to feel anymore or how to handle her emotions anymore. Noah has turned her into a complete fucking toy. It was almost as if he controls her entire being. His reaction affects her and his hurtful words stabs her in the chest. And for some reason, she likes to be around him and hates it when he is away. ‘But he is very mean to you!’ She adjusted in the chair. ‘You can make him a better person’ Why would she do that? That means she'll have to allow him toy and toss her around, which he was already doing. And why would she do that? Why is she even thinking about this? The answer is boldly written in her heart but it's not like she is ready to admit it. All her years in Europe, no man has ever fucked her the way Noah fucked her. He fucked her with his heart and she felt it in the depths of her soul. And she liked it, and wants mor
🌹 18 🌹 Her eyes slowly open with a very weak yawn. Joan's smile flashed at her and her eyes momentarily shut close. Vera quickly opened her eyes, memory of last night hitting her hard and deep as she slowly sat up. A bitter taste settled in her mouth and a disturbing unsettlement in her gut. She suddenly looked around and let out a sigh of relief when Noah wasn't in the room. She looked up at Joan's picture as tears filled her eyes. “I didn't mean to.” She shook her head and crawled out of the bed, soaked in guilt and filled with shame. How could she lose herself. Images of the intense kiss they shared flashed in her head. She let him kiss her, but she kissed him back. He called her Joan. A tear dropped down as she depressingly walked to her room. ‘He called you Joan.’ She repeated to herself. She felt stupid and disgusting at the same time. How could she give him her body so easily, she felt cheap, and used. But they used each other. They were lost i
🌹 17 🌹 Vera stumbled a little, making her way downstairs to get another bottle of alcohol even though she was already tipsy. That was when Noah walked in. He stopped for a brief moment when he spotted her at the bar. He looked away and headed for the stairs. “Son of a bitch!” She cussed and went after him. “You asshole!” Vera planted herself in front of him, stopping him on the stairs. That was when she noticed the bottle of whiskey in his hand. “Move.” He angrily growled. “You're drunk.” Vera plainly accused. “So are you.” “What exactly are you drinking for when you decided to make my life miserable? You're out there enjoying your goddamn life.” Tears filled her eyes. “Vera..” “How dare you involve my parents!?” She screamed. “You're making life miserable for all of us. Why are you punishing them? What did they do to you? My mother is suffering, she is pathetic. She doesn't even have time for me anymore because your wicked family is doing everything to ma
🌹 16 🌹 Vera set her alarm and woke earlier than usual. He said she can't waste what she didn't work for so that was her answer. She started cleaning everywhere even before the servants came in for their usual work. She cleaned the kitchen and washed a few plates and mugs. “Don't worry, I got it all covered.” She happily said to Sylvester when he walked into the kitchen. Sylvester slide his hand across the table and looked down at his finger. “Not clean enough.” He snapped his fingers and some servants came in. “Clean everything.” He simply ordered. “But I've done that already.” She sadly said. Vera waited until the chefs came in and closely watched them make Noah's food. She ignored the bread on the countertop and learned a little from the chefs. They dished out all the food and she was left alone in the kitchen. Vera waited for Noah to finish his food and helped with the plates and washed some of them. “Mrs. Vera,” Sylvester walked to her. “You don't have to
🌹 15 🌹 Vera tearfully gulped down some more alcohol. ‘Why did you do this to me, Jo? This is all your fault.’ She cried. Why would her sister make such a decision that would put them all at risk? Joan is not the one to make irrational decisions. So what actually happened? Why did Jo leave? Why did she throw everything away? And now, she have to deal with her mess. Jo was always the one taking the fall and making sacrifices but that doesn't mean she can just make their lives miserable. Deep down, Vera felt a little hate towards Joan and it lasted only for a moment. She had never had to deal with something like this. She always made the emotional and stupid decisions while Jo helped her so how will she handle this one? Without Jo. Vera picked herself up with the bottle still in her hand and headed back to her room. She can't leave, there's no way, untill Noah has had enough of his revenge and decided to let her go. For now, she's trapped here. In this
