LOGINHUNTER POV
"Are we there yet?" "Oh, for Goddess' sake, Carter! Shut that naughty mouth of yours for a second, or I swear I'll chuck you out of the car!" I said angrily. "This is the eleventh time you asked that!" To avoid my deadly stare, he hurriedly shut his mouth and looked out the window. I rolled my eyes and returned to the pack reports for a short check. "Alpha, we're getting close to the South pack's border," said one of the warriors in the driver's seat. I nodded and carefully placed the papers on the side before scanning the area as we approached. The region was dotted with lovely trees and vistas. The houses are built in rows, each with a distinct lovely hue. Each roofing has its own distinct color scheme. My gaze was drawn to the enormous structure in the center, which I imagined was their capital's pack house. In front of it, there were a few warriors who appeared to be practicing as their leaders directed them. 'Wow, they may be a tiny pack, but I guess they can keep up with us.' My wolf yipped excitedly. "Now I see why this pack is named the South pack; the females here were very cautious to hide their 'southern' part. Pffts." Carter jokingly stated. He was about to laugh, but I let out a low growl that stopped him. I stroked the base of my nose and gave Carter a death gaze, making his face pale. "What's that, Carter? I didn't quite hear you." He didn't reply but swallowed a lump on his throat and gaze out the window. "Good," I said with my serious tone and crossed arms, as the car came to a halt. The warriors jumped out of the car and collected our belongings from the trunk, while Levi and Cromwel followed me outside with a serious expression on their faces, but their lips twitched as if they were about to burst out laughing. As Alpha and his Luna approached us, I saw how amazing they both were with their dark brown hair and sky blue eyes. His aura signals that you should not play with him. He has a robust figure and a firm appearance, but his Luna has a beauty that can captivate any man's heart, with confidence and bravery on her face. "Alpha Silver."I nodded, looking into his eyes. "Alpha Hunter." He nodded back, "I'm glad we've finally reached an accord." I put on a tiny and proud grin. Of course, I worked hard to come to this agreement. "This is my mate, Luna Megan." He said, motioning with his hand beside him. I smiled and extended my hand to shake hers, but she surprised me by forming a hug around me. I was surprised for a moment as she continued to touch my back and pat the back of my head. I saw my beta out of the corner of my eye, and he twitched his lips as if ready to laugh, but he held it in. "I'm sorry, we're a family of huggers, or at least I am. I didn't want to scare you." I caressed Luna's back slowly as she began to detach her body from mine with a grin on her lips. I merely shook my head and smiled at her, saying, "No harm done, it's all right." Alpha Silver smiled wryly and nodded his head as his mate pulled back and moved beside him. "This is my son, Simon." he said, motioning with his hand to the boy with light brown hair and bright eyes. I carefully examined the future alpha, who had a humorous sparkle in his eyes that indicated he was more relaxed back than his father, but he also had a serious expression on his face that told me he'd be a terrific alpha eventually. He seemed perplexed as he began to glance sideways, then sighed and said, "My daughter, Crest, was meant to be here; I am sure she is just behind us, but she must have run away. No worries, you'll meet her soon." So her name is Crest? Based on Carter's judgment back when we were in the car, she loved shopping and hosting these kinds of meetings. But, before I pass judgment, I'd best meet her in person; I'm the type of person who doesn't believe in rumors unless I can see them for myself. I grimaced slightly as my wolf purred contentedly inside of me. What exactly is his deal? Is he on drugs or something? I never imagined my wolf was capable of purring because I had never seen or felt him emote in this manner. "Well, how about we proceed to our meeting in my office. My beta will show you around here later. Settle yourself first in the pack house's guest rooms and take some rest. Your journey to be here wasn't that easy. My luna has prepared something for you in the dining hall. Make yourself at home and feel free to ask my team if you need any help." "That's fine with us." I nodded at him. "All right, then, follow me." He led the way as we all went after him. Some eyes were on us along the way, but they lowered their heads to show us respect. My pack warriors, as well as my beta, delta, and gamma, followed us with bags in their hands. 'I hope they have decent food here, I'm hungry!' Levi mumbled in our mind link, while Carter and Cromwel hummed in agreement and discreetly nodded their heads. 'I can't wait to meet some hot chicks,' Carter continued, a cheeky grin on his face. 'Especially, their alpha daughter.' His last statement made me snarl at them. 'Naughty little pup, aren't we Carter?' My response made them lower their heads, but I know the other two are holding in their laughter. We can see more children playing and running as we get closer to the packed house. Some came up to us in their puppy forms and smelled our feet, while others bumped into us and ran away. "My husband and son just checked some minor issues at the pack border, but they'll be back very soon," Luna Megan said, drawing closer to us. "Why don't you guys go ahead to the kitchen? My daughter has prepared some food for you all, and I'll take your warriors to settle your things to your respective bedrooms." "Is everything okay?" I inquired, and it seemed as though we were all having the same problem with our pack borders. She sighed before responding, "Yes. Same old thing, rogues targeting our various borderlines, but everything is under control now." She grinned at the end of her response. I guess I'll have to discuss this with her husband later in the meeting. "Anyway, please proceed to the kitchen, I'm sure you're all famished." She continued. "You got it right, Luna." Levi said to her. She only smiled and motioned her hands towards a door. "Right there, gentlemen." While Levi, Cromwel, and Carter dashed towards the kitchen, I thanked her. She nodded and walked down the corridor, followed by my troops. When I walked into the kitchen, I was greeted with a delightful aroma of delicacies. Fried chicken, steak, carbonara, and freshly baked pastries are all available. My stomach groaned in appreciation as I continued to go closer to the kitchen island, taking in the delectable aromas. I was perplexed as to why my beta and gamma were still standing around the entrance, mouths open in the shape of an 'o.' I walked closer to them and noted that they were keeping an eye on the alpha daughter's back. While fetching something from the oven, she was quietly humming. When my heart began to pound heavily, I felt something strange. I can't get my eyes off her back. Her long, light brown wavy hair bounces as she sways gently. Because I am 6'1, her height is only a few inches less than mine. Her exquisite physique was disguised behind a baggy white sweater and a pair of snug slim black pants. "Oh, you're all here! I hope you enjoy cakes, since I baked too many," she remarked, her face lit up with a bright grin that made my heart skip a beat. As she got closer to the island, she kept smiling at us, but I noticed she tensed a bit when she looked at me. I immediately made eye contact with her brilliant sky blue eyes. As I felt something run in my spine, I swallowed a knot in my throat. My palms felt moist as my heart continued to pound loudly. Then something clicked as we both looked into each other's eyes, something strange that I couldn't explain, a pleasurable feeling. My wolf is screaming in delight, pacing back and forth and urging me to get closer to her, but I couldn't move an inch because I was staring at someone that I hadn't wished for. A mate.CREST POV My uncle’s sharp eyes stayed locked on my face for what felt like an eternity. I kept my chin up, forcing my expression to remain as blank and cold as stone. I could not let him see the absolute terror shaking my insides. Just as I opened my mouth to invent a lie, the head councilman stepped up to the wooden platform and banged a heavy brass gong. The loud sound echoed across the entire courtyard, saving me from my uncle's interrogation. My uncle frowned, giving me one last warning look before turning around. He marched back to his high seat on the platform, his heavy black cloak billowing behind him. I let out a long, shaky breath that I didn't realize I was holding. Beside me, Estella finally stopped shaking. "Welcome, aspirants!" the head councilman shouted, his voice booming over the silent crowd. "Today is the final day of the Lily River Camp trials. Before we send you into the dangerous woods for the Great Challenge, we will introduce each contestant to the pack l
CREST POV The wooden door of my cabin felt cold against my palm. I pressed my back against the wall, holding my breath as a patrol of camp guards marched past the window. Their heavy boots crunched loudly on the gravel path outside. My heart was pounding so hard against my ribs that I was sure they would hear it. I waited in the shadows, my muscles tense, until the sound of their footsteps faded into the distance. Once the coast was clear, I turned the handle slowly, slipped inside, and shut the door behind me with a soft click. "Oh my Goddess, Crest! You're finally here!" A frantic voice whispered from the dark corners of the room. It was Estella. She rushed toward me, her eyes wide with terror and her face pale. She was pacing back and forth so much that her hair was completely messy. She grabbed my shoulders, her hands shaking violently. "I was so scared, Crest!" Estella whispered loudly, checking me from head to toe. "I stayed up all night waiting for you. The morning bell i
HUNTER POV The morning sun was rising over the mountains. The light was bright and warm, but a strange, sweet smell still hung in the air. It was a very thick scent, like flowers mixed with magic. I walked fast through the trees, keeping my steps quiet. Right next to me was a woman. I knew her name was Crest, but my mind felt heavy, like it was full of thick gray clouds. We were standing right at the edge of the Lily River Camp perimeter. This was the boundary line. Inside the line were the camp barracks, the training grounds, and the guards. "Keep low," I whispered to her. I pointed toward a pair of guards walking near the main concrete fence. They held long spears and wore thick armor. They were looking around the woods for any late aspirants. If they caught us out here after dawn, we would both be in big trouble. Crest did not answer me. She just stood there, staring at the camp. Her eyes looked blank, like she was asleep with her eyes wide open. "Crest?" I whispered
CREST POV "Thank Goddess I trusted you," I breathed, the adrenaline still pulsing hot through my veins. I moved up slowly from the edge, and he did the same, matching my pace without pulling his hand away from mine. His grip was warm. Sending electrifying sensation through my body. He grinned, taking a slow, deliberate step toward the very edge of the cliff to cast a glance into the abyss below. Following his lead, I forced my feet forward, swallowing the sharp knot of nerves tightening in my throat. I risked a look down. The sheer, dizzying height immediately sent cold shivers racing down my spine. I gasped, letting out a heavy, trembling exhale as I stepped back. "Glad we're okay now," I said, my voice finally steadying. He turned, scanning the dark perimeter of the treeline before responding. "You have a strong heart back there." "Thanks," I let out a breathless, nervous laugh. "I was having second thoughts, honestly, but there were no other choices." "Back to business, any
HUNTER POV The blue fire didn't just burn; it hissed like a nest of disturbed vipers, consuming the oxygen in the clearing at a terrifying speed. The smoke was thick and suffocating, stinging my eyes and scraping against the back of my throat. My wolf was pacing frantically within my mind, his usual arrogance entirely replaced by survival instinct. "The path back to the camp is completely cut off," he warned, his voice echoing sharply over the roaring flames. "If we stay here, the smoke will drop us before the fire even touches our skin." "We can't go back!" I shouted over the din of the crackling, magical blaze, my grip still tight around the her wrist. "The fire has entirely sealed the eastern ridge!" She didn't panic, which surprised me. Despite her trembling frame and the absence of any dominant aura, her gaze remained sharp and calculating. She scanned the wall of encroaching blue flames, her eyes locking onto the only break in the perimeter—a steep, ascending rocky slope th
HUNTER POVThe ethereal glow of the light grew blindingly bright, casting long, distorted shadows through the skeletal branches of the pines. The girl stopped at the edge of a small, hidden clearing, her silhouette framed by the strange radiance. My wolf shifted uneasily in the back of my mind."Hunter, this is wrong. The scent of it, is too strong. That isn't a natural fire.""I know," I thought back, my muscles tight, ready to spring. "But she’s getting too close to it."She reached a trembling hand out toward the pulsing light, completely mesmerized. I couldn't risk her triggering a trap—or worse, vanishing into whatever magic the council had hidden out here. Breaking my stealth, I stepped out from the thick brush, the leaves crunching loudly beneath to finally announce my presence."I wouldn't touch that if I were you," I said, my voice deep and commanding, carr
A few years back..."Come on, Hunter, let's get some pictures together," Alena smiled, waving her hand from the group towards Hunter where he was so busy trying to make a fire for the grill."You're gonna missed the fun," Reneé added."Yeah, I'm coming," he replied.
HUNTER POV “What is happening here?” I asked confusedly, looking at my two commanders, who seemed to be so furious and mad. Levi growled at Raven, pressing his face to the ground even more. Cromwel glared down at him, controlling himself not to break his neck, before addressing me about what wa
