LOGINAll Lisa wanted was to be happy. Something she thought getting married would bring. Oh, but it didn't. Because the second she walked down that aisle in her step cousin's place, her husband promised to never love her. Three years of a loveless marriage should have been enough to snap her. But it didn't. Because even in all, a part of her still hoped he might love her. Not until her step cousin returned. Cassie. His first love. Drex didn't hesitate before filing a divorce. He didn't look back as he threw her out. It should have been enough. Yet it wasn't. At least not till when he chose to save Cassie from an accident instead of her. He chose a woman who left him for three years over someone who stayed. That was when she snapped. Every hope of ever being loved died at that moment. He saw her as a nobody. Her family saw her as one. It was then that she made a vow. To return and shock the world. Shock her family. Shock Drex Drane, her ex-husband. She promised to return more powerful than ever!

Those were his first words the moment I walked into his office. “Huh?” I asked quietly, staring at my boss, while trying to keep the surprise from my voice. Drex didn't say a word. In fact, he barely ever spoke to me. I wouldn't have minded if he was just my boss, but this was a man I'd been married to for over three years already. A man that barely acknowledged my existence since the day I stood on the altar in place of my step cousin. Which was why being called to his office that Wednesday morning was unexpected. And when he opened his drawer and retrieved a file, I had a feeling this would not be good. “What is this?” I asked when he dropped it in front of me. “Divorce papers. Sign it.” Four words. Just four. But they managed to make my head spin. “Wh-What?” He finally raised his chin, staring with an expression devoid of emotion. "You know I don't like to repeat myself." "B-But why so soon?" “Soon?” He scoffed like that was the most absurd thing. “It's been three years. There is nothing soon about this.” "But..." Words hung somewhere in my throat, but my heart started to race. He couldn't do this to me. He just couldn't. If Drex divorced me, that'd be the end. My life, career, future… everything would be destroyed. I'd lose the only protection keeping my stepmother from throwing me off to the streets. No. My desperation rose, which was why I didn't think twice before doing the one thing I never imagined myself doing. I joined both hands and dropped to my knees. "Please." I begged. "Please give it another thought." His frown told me he didn't expect this. "What the hell? Get up, Lisa." "No." I shook my head. "Not until you've promised to think about it." His teeth were gritted when he spoke. "Get up." "No—!" "Get the hell up, Lisa!" His voice was so loud that it startled a flinch from me. When I stared at him, something blazed in his eyes. Irritation. And it was enough to strike right to me. A drop of tear escaped, followed by another. Because I was probably the most shameless woman in his eyes. I had to bite my lower lip to keep from breaking, and slowly pushed myself up till I was standing. "Think about it." My voice was lower now, rough from unshed tears, as I turned and rushed out of his office (the CEO office). This wasn't how it was supposed to be. This wasn't how my life should be. When I was dressing in my step cousin's wedding gown, no one told me it was going to be like this. Drex didn't love me. He never did. He never saw me as the female who wasn't supposed to be his wife. But I didn't mind. I didn't even argue. All I wanted was to be married. And now he wanted to take that from me. He wanted to throw me back to the hell of my dad's house. I didn't stop running until I was out of the company and in my car. “Take me home.” I told the driver, so with a roar, the car came to life and I was on the road. The entire drive back, all I could think about was those papers. Fear crawled up my skin as I wondered what would become of me if I divorced him. That was all I thought about till the car came to a halt in front of his mansion. The Drane mansion. It might have been my imagination, but when I got down, I thought I noticed the guards glance at each other somewhat awkwardly. Some of them even stared as I made my way towards the door. But I was too distracted by my thoughts on Drex to care about them. Which probably wasn't a smart idea, because the moment I reached the door, it became clear. The voice that came from behind made it all too clear. Slow and smug... “Well, look who's here.” The familiarity in them made me freeze. 'That' was a voice I could not forget. Believe me, I've tried. But it was hard not to memorize the sound of your childhood trauma. Slowly, and with breath held, I turned. There she stood, her lips in a smirk. Drex's first love. My step cousin. “Cassie?”Cassie was pregnant?I huffed out a dry laugh under my breath. “This isn't possible. It's probably just some kind of…” the words left my mouth as yesterday came running back to my head. Why the hell was Cassie in my house in the first place? What did she want to tell Drex? And why did she faint?I never passed out during my pregnancy, but I had heard that some people did during their first few weeks. My fingers curled tightly around my phone so much that my knuckles grew white. No, this was stupid. She wasn't pregnant. She couldn't be.Leo was staring at me with brows furrowed. “You okay?”“What?”“Your skin's pale. I think you should drink water.” He went to grab a bottle of water from my desk and handed it over.I had to draw in a few breaths to calm my racing heart, and after downing half the bottle's content, I decided to relax and give this a better thought. This was Drex we were talking about. For months now, he'd been talking about how he loved me and didn't feel anything for C
“Leo? What're you doing here?” The surprise wasn't hidden from my tone.“I just want to talk.” He lifted a bag I hadn't even known he was holding. “Had a feeling you may not have eaten so I brought this with.”There was a small smile on his lips while my shoulders dropped as I sighed.“Uh… sure. Let's go to my office.”And like that, I had to survive the most awkward journey to my office as he followed behind. It hurt that being in the same space with him felt weird. Especially since this was the same guy I once stayed in his house for a whole year. Finally, we reached my office.“Get us two cups of coffee.” I told Irea as I went to sit on the couch and he sat at the one opposite it, a table separating us.Irea left, then returned with two cups of coffee, before walking out after a short head bow.“So… how've you been?” I asked, trying to keep the mood light (mind you, that was ‘not' easy).“Good.” He retrieved two burgers and handed one to me. “I've been busy with work and all. What
– Lisa Red –I woke up early the next day.Since I hadn't done any work on Friday and the weekend, I knew there would be a lot that needed handling which was why I wanted to get some done online before I'd leave for work.Drex was still asleep beside me, so I crawled out of bed silently, grabbed a robe from my closet and went to the bathroom where I brushed, bathed, then tied the robe around me.When I walked out, he had already woken up and was sitting on the bed, his phone pressed against his ear, clearly making a phone call.He flashed me a small smile which I returned with one of my own, then went to pick out my clothes from the closet, putting on a bra then a dark green sleeveless top, and wondering why this didn't feel weird.Last night, when he came back to return my car, every part of me didn't want him to leave.I wanted to have him close. Even if it was just for the night, and the second Drex kissed me, every form of thinking disappeared.Oh but I didn't regret one bit of it
– Rachel Red – “Seriously, why're you making that wheezing sound?” Leo asked from where he laid on the couch, Rick sitting over his head and doing whatever it was he did with Leo's hair. “What?” “You're making a little noise. Like a whistle with each breath. It's audible and also weird.” “Oh? I didn't notice.” Maybe that was why my breath had been coming in slightly short paces. "You should get treated at the hospital, though." He suggested. "I mean, you've been coughing for weeks as well." “I'm just exhausted, you know?” Everything with Richard was stressing the heck out of me. He'd gone back to New York for over a week now, and only messaged me once to ask how I was doing. He didn't even call. I'd considered being the mature one and calling him first, but heck that was just stupid. Why should I be mature when I was not at fault in any way? This was entirely him being frustrating, so he was the one to apologize. Not ‘me'! Like he could read my mind, Leo shook his he
