It had been weeks since Megan threatened to send her lawyers to serve me divorce papers, yet I had seen nothing.

No court notice.

No lawyers.

Nothing.

At first, I thought maybe my threats had finally gotten to her. Maybe she had realized that I wasn’t someone she could just walk away from so easily. Or maybe—just maybe—she was planning something worse.

Either way, it didn’t matter.
