Serena’s POV

The heavy iron door of the high tower groaned, pulling me from a cold sleep.

I sat up quickly, my heart hammering against my ribs. The stone floor was freezing, biting through my thin clothes.

Penelope shifted beside me in the dark, her eyes fluttering open in raw panic.

"Who is there?" I called out, my voice echoing in the small room. I moved in front of my sister, shielding her with my body.

A hooded figure slipped through the narrow gap before the heavy door clicked shut. The

Serena’s POVThe clash of steel and the cries of battle echoed across the estate grounds as the Shadow Collective’s forces crashed against our outer defenses. I stood on the reinforced walls beside Alaric. The wind whipped my hair as arrows whistled through the air below. My wound pulled with every movement but the healers’ bindings and my own stubborn will kept me upright. Penelope was safe in the inner keep under Gale’s watch but the rest of us were here fighting for the future we had barely begun to claim.'His presence gives me courage even in this chaos.'Alaric’s hand found mine between orders squeezing tightly. “Stay close to me,” he said. His deep voice cut through the chaos. “I will not lose you now that I have finally found you Serena. Not to these shadows or any other threat. You have become my reason for every decision on this field today.”I squeezed back drawing strength from his touch. “I am right here. We fight as one. You and me. The king and his queen. Together we ar

Serena’s POVDawn crept over the horizon like a hesitant witness to the storm gathering on our borders. I stood on the eastern balcony of the estate with Alaric. His arm wrapped securely around my waist as we watched the first light touch the treetops. The night had been a fragile sanctuary filled with whispered promises tender touches and the kind of love I had never dared dream of. His fingers traced lazy circles on my hip grounding me even as the scout reports grew more urgent.'This calm before the fight feels precious.'“They are closer than we thought,” Alaric said. His deep voice was a low rumble against my ear. He pulled me closer. His chin rested on my head. “The Collective moves like ghosts. No banners. No clear allegiance except destruction. But we have the treaty. We have each other. They will not break us. Tell me what thoughts weigh on you this morning Serena. I want to face this together with open hearts.”I turned in his arms looking up into those piercing eyes that ha

  • I Became the Obsidian Lycan King’s Obsession    Chapter 45

Serena’s POVThe estate had fallen into an uneasy quiet after the chaos of the interrupted ceremony but my heart refused to settle. Penelope was safe in a guarded chamber. Gale stood watch outside her door like the loyal shadow he had always been. Liliana and Grey were secured in the dungeons. Their schemes were exposed for the council to judge. Yet as I stood on the moonlit balcony overlooking the darkened grounds the weight of everything we had survived pressed down on me. It mingled with a warmth I had never known before.Alaric joined me without a word. His tall frame cast a protective shadow as he stepped close. The King of the Obsidian throne the man who had once terrified me as a legend of ice and iron now felt like home. He had ridden across hostile lands for a duplicate treaty. He fought beside me on bloodied roads and stood with me in the hall as I raised the proof that shattered my father’s lies. The bond between us awakened through the pact and strengthened through every t

Serena’s POVThe great hall felt heavier in the aftermath of Grey’s defeat. The air hung thick with the scent of extinguished torches and fading incense from the interrupted ceremony. Guests filtered out in hushed clusters. They cast wary glances back at us as if expecting the Obsidian King to unleash further wrath. Penelope remained in my arms. Her body still trembled from the ordeal. Gale stood guard a few paces away. His sword was finally sheathed but his eyes remained sharp. Alaric’s hand lingered on the small of my back. It served as a steady anchor amid the chaos we had just unleashed.Grey was dragged away in chains by Alaric’s guards. His face showed a mask of humiliated rage. "This is not the end," he spat over his shoulder. "The council will hear of your overreach King. You cannot simply dissolve alliances on the word of one document. I have powerful friends who will support my claim. This treaty means nothing without proper witnesses and seals from all parties involved."Al

Serena’s POVThe great hall had fallen into a stunned silence broken only by the fading echo of the ceremony bells. I stood at the front with the duplicate treaty still raised high in my trembling hands, Penelope clinging to my side like a lifeline. The weight of every eye in the room pressed down on me. Guests, guards, my father, and Grey. Alaric’s solid presence at my right anchored me, his hand resting lightly on the small of my back in silent support. Gale stood guard on my left, his sword half-drawn, ready for any sudden move.Grey recovered first, his face contorted with rage as he stepped forward, pointing an accusing finger at the document. “This is a farce!” he bellowed, his voice echoing off the stone walls. “That parchment is clearly forged! Look at it—too pristine, too convenient! Serena has always been a liar and a troublemaker. She fabricated this to ruin her sister’s future because she couldn’t secure her own worthless mate bond!”Murmurs rippled through the crowd. Some

Serena’s POVThe great hall pulsed with shock as the ceremony bells continued their deep, resonant tolling. Guests shifted uncomfortably in their seats, whispers rippling through the crowd like wind through dry leaves. Penelope stood at the altar in a pale gown that made her look far too young and fragile, her eyes wide and pleading as they locked onto mine. Grey’s son stood beside her, his expression smug until it faltered at the sight of Alaric and me storming down the aisle. My father and Grey turned, their faces a mixture of fury and disbelief.“Serena!” Penelope cried, her voice breaking. She took a half-step toward me, but Grey’s son grabbed her arm, holding her in place. “You came… please, don’t let this happen.”I pushed forward, my legs burning from the hard ride, but nothing could stop me now. Alaric walked at my side like a force of nature, his presence commanding the entire room. Gale flanked my other side, sword ready despite his injury. The duplicate treaty felt heavy in
