CHAPTER SEVEN

Record: Oh fuck, you are so tight, baby!

Then, right after Julian’s voice, were slaps as if he were pounding into something. I looked at my cracked screen, unable to fathom what I was listening to.

Later that night, the banana bread forgotten, I lay on the bed, awaiting his arrival.

He arrived and stepped into the room, all smiles when he saw me.

“There is my girl. How are you doing, baby?” He came closer and kissed me on my forehead.

“When you didn't call after that time in the morning, I began to get worried. Because the Tessa I know calls me at least ten times in a day.”

I smiled at him. “How was work today?”

He went to the closet and began undressing. “It was tough. I had a patient who drank shampoo to relieve himself.”

I laughed, despite my weakness. “That's ridiculous.”

“I know, right?” He took off his pants.

“Did anything happen today? I saw the half-baked bread on the kitchen counter.”

I frowned. “What do you mean? I was in bed all day.”

“Are you sure? I saw half-mixed flour there.”

Half-mixed flour? Wait, hadn't I wanted to confront Julian about something earlier? What was that?

Julian looked back at me, fully naked now. “Baby, if you feel any sort of way, always tell me, okay?”

I nodded, lips quivering.

I was making bread?

The following day, she watched Julian as he got dressed for work.

“I won't be coming back home today, Julian.”

He looked at me. “What? Why?”

“I'm going to Arizona. I miss Grandma.”

“Is she sick again?”

“No, she isn't. I just miss her.”

He nodded. “Okay. Do you need me to go with you?”

“No. You can't leave work.”

He nodded to himself. “That's true.”

He leaned into me and pressed a kiss on my lips. “You know you shouldn't be moving around like this? You need rest. But since you said you miss Grandma, I can't stop you.”

“I'll be fine, Julian,” I said weakly.

“You'd better be, because if I so much as call and you do not pick up, I'm driving down there myself to bundle you back home.”

I smiled. “I'll be fine, I promise.”

He kissed me, his tongue tasting mine. He broke the kiss to whisper against my lips. “I love you, baby.”

I couldn't muster the energy to reply, so I just smiled back.

I let him and Lila leave home before I took my car out of the parking lot, parked it in a secluded area, and returned home. I hung around for a few hours before returning back home when it was getting close to the time Julian would get off work. I hid by a corner around the parking lot for several minutes before I finally heard Julian’s car pull over in the parking lot.

From the corner where I hid, he couldn't see me, but I could see his boots as he climbed out of the car. He rounded the car and grabbed something from the passenger's seat. Then, I heard Lila’s little squeal.

With quivering lips and mustered-up courage, I peeked at the scene.

My heart shattered at the sight of Julian carrying Lila in bridal style.

I should take the hint and leave. I mean, my suspicion was confirmed. Julian was cheating on me. But I needed to see more. Get it on recording if I must. I might develop amnesia again like the last time.

I followed them in but took a different route, which led into the wine cellar. I climbed up the stairs, and it led to the kitchen.

When I stepped into the kitchen, I saw them seated in the living room. I quickly found a place to hide, brought out my phone, and started recording.

Lila got up and straddled Julian, sitting on his lap. She took off her dress, her breasts bared completely naked. Julian’s hand reached out with his wedding band and squeezed.

She undressed him, stripping off his shirt and taking off his belt. Then, she started bouncing on him, breasts slapping, their heavy moans filling the room.

Tears welled up in my eyes, and they slid down my face as I held the phone still, recording them.

“So perfect, Lila. Fuck me harder,” my husband said.

“Fuck, I'm close, Julian,” responded Lila.

As I withdrew the phone and was about to click save on the video, my head suddenly felt light, blood trickling down my nose. My hand trembled, and the phone fell through my fingers in a loud clatter.

Julian and Lila stopped. They both took in a sharp breath.

“Who is there?!” Julian called out.

I hid even more, trying to wipe off the blood, but the blood wouldn't stop trickling down.

Julian got up and came closer, rounding the counter where I had hidden and coming to stand before me. He was stark naked, his length still dripping with his own cum.

His eyes widened at me. “Te-Tessa?”

I heard Lila’s small gasp from behind me.

“Wha-what are you…? I thought you said you were…?”

I slowly got up. “Well, I lied. And thankfully, I got to see my own husband fucking his supposed cousin.”

He stepped forward. “Tessa, I swear on my life, I can explain.”

“Go and clean up before you talk to me. Your cum is dripping on the floor.”

He looked down, the white from his tip dripping onto the floor. He quickly went back to the living room, grabbed his pants, and returned.

He grabbed my hand. I jerked it away.

“Don't you touch me, you disgusting bastard.”

“Tessa, please. Please, don't do this. I'm so sorry. Please.”

“Sorry for what? Lying to me about fucking your own cousin?”

He swallowed. “Tessa, please—”

“Are you the father?”

“What?”

“Are you the father of her unborn child?”

“Tessa—”

“I asked a question!!”

He swallowed again. “Yes. But, Tessa, I can ex—”

Tears rolled down my eyes. “You evil bastard! You had a child outside your marriage because your wife had the privilege of having a child taken away from her?!”

He went on his knees. “I didn't know what came over me. I'm sorry. Please, forgive me. Baby, please.”

“Is Lila your cousin?”

“Yes. But her mother is my mother's half-sister—”

“You are disgusting! Julian, you are disgusting!!”

I stepped back, then I slipped and fell backwards, landing against the marble counter. I felt the crack of my skull, like it had been smashed heavily with an hammer.

As I was falling backwards, Lila had reached out to stop me from falling, but Julian had pulled her back to stop her from helping and had said, “Don't. When she falls and hits her head, she would forget this happened.”

So they both watched me crack my skull against the kitchen marble and fall out of consciousness.

But he was wrong.

When I woke up the next day, I remembered every detail of his betrayal.

Julian was cheating on me with his cousin. And they were expecting a child together while I was dying.

Chapter 30: The Ambush I walked out of Julian’s clinic. I did not look back.My phone buzzed immediately. I answered it."Are you looking at your screen?" Francesca asked. Her voice clipped fast and urgent."I am walking to my car. What is it?""Check your email. Now. I am sending extra security to the lobby."I opened my inbox. I clicked the top link. I didn't wait for the valet to open my door. I yanked it open myself, sliding into the leather seat of my town car."Tessa!"Julian’s voice ripped through the crisp night air. He slammed his body against the frame of my car door before I could pull it shut. His chest heaved. He was panting, completely unhinged."Get your hand off my car, Julian," I said."You are out of your mind!" he shouted, his fingers digging into the window seal. "Do you have any idea what you just did in there? The city's top board members were watching us!""I know exactly what I did.""I am not signing anything!" He leaned in closer, his breath reeking of expensive champagne and raw panic. "Do you hear me? I am your husband. We built this empire together. Chapter 26I waited until the house went quiet. Midnight. Lila’s car was still in the driveway—I’d checked twice. She was home, probably curled up in her room pretending to be the innocent cousin again. Perfect.I slipped out of my bedroom in a silk slip that barely reached mid-thigh, hair loose, barefoot. No hesitation. I moved down the hall like I owned every shadow in this house. Because I did.The bedroom door was ajar. I pushed it open without knocking. He sat on the edge of the bed in sweatpants, scrolling his phone. His head snapped up. “Tessa?”I closed the door behind me, leaned against it, and let the slip ride up as I crossed my arms. “You said you’re fighting for this marriage. Prove it.”His eyes darkened instantly. He stood, phone forgotten. “What are you doing?”I walked straight to him, grabbed the waistband of his pants, and pulled him against me. “I want you to fuck me. Right now. Hard. And I want you to be loud as hell.”Julian’s breath caught. “Tessa—”“Say yes.” I

Lila hovered, pouring coffee with that fake domestic smile plastered on her face.“Tessa, you look exhausted,” Julian said, reaching for my hand across the table.
