BRANDON ~

Words alone cannot express how I was feeling.

Victoria pretends that all is well, but I know she's just masking her true feelings.

I know beneath the surface lies a dangerous thought and plan she's harboring for me, which she does not want me to know of.

I took a deep sigh of exasperation. I was so lost that I couldn't even remember that I was standing until Elese swung the door open and barged in.

"What's happening?" She asked.

"Why did you leave me outside?" "I hope you're not hiding something from me?"

I swallowed hard, tilted my head to look at her, but said nothing. I breathed a deep sigh before heading to a coach to sit down.

"Elese there's nothing I'm hiding from you, nor am I playing a game with Victoria against you. It's just that..."

"It's just what?" She cuts in, looking deeply into my eyes with scrutiny.

"There's nothing to make a fuss about, Elese. If there's anything you need to know, I wouldn't hesitate to let you know, okay?" I lamented, wanting to assuage the argument.

She grunted and eventually left the room. I could not tell her destination, nor did I bother to ask her. I just wanted silence.

The only person I could entertain right now is Victoria, and that's because I want to know her mind so bad.

I sat there for close to ten minutes before picking up my phone to call Victoria. I needed to spend time together with her, and one of the ways to make that happen is by hosting a party.

Victoria is a life of the party, so there's no way she would reject.

When I dialed her line, it rang for a few seconds before she answered.

"What is it, Brandon?" was what came out of her mouth. Clearly she's sick of me.

"Calm down, Victoria," I said, pausing to observe her reaction.

"I need to see you. We need to talk." I added after I didn't receive a harsh reply to the previous statement.

She was silent for a while. "Okay. Are you still at home?" She replied.

"Yes, of course."

"Okay, I will be there shortly," she snapped before ending the call.

I breathed a deep sigh of relief before dropping the phone to practice how to talk to her so I don't stutter when she arrives.

About ten minutes later, the door was swung open, making me sit up as I thought it was Victoria entering, but my face turned pale when I saw Elese walking in.

"You're still here, Brandon, looking gloomy," she said.

"I know something is definitely wrong somewhere."

"Elese there's nothing wrong. Okay, I was just considering whether to have Victoria stay with her parents for some time," I lied.

A mischievous smile crept onto her lips at the statement. She walked and sat closer to me, her head resting on my shoulder.

"That would really be nice," she said. "At least we would have more freedom. We don't need to..."

Before she could finish her statement, Victoria barged in, and seeing Elese seated beside me, her head resting on my shoulder with her hand curled around my neck, made her face frown instantly.

"Brandon, did you deliberately called me here to inflict more pain on me? Isn't the one you did already enough?" She questioned, her voice a mix of pain, anger, and disappointment.

Elese calmly got off my body, her expression unfazed at Victoria's reaction.

"Calm down, Victoria. We weren't doing anything bad." I remarked.

"I don't need your explanation, Brandon. I'm not a kid. I'm here to know why you called me, and that's it."

"You can do whatever you want with her; I don't care. After all..." She paused for a second.

"In fact, there's no need to tell you." She shoved her hair backwards, went to the single coach, and sat down, her legs crossed.

"Just tell me why you called me, please," she asked, avoiding my gaze.

"I have made an arrangement for a party tonight, so I thought you'd love to be present."

"What do you think?"

  • I Need You Ex-wife!    33: Liam, What Happened?

VICTORIA ~By the time we got to Benita's house, it was already dark."What exactly happened? Why did it take you so long?" Benita unleashed the long-acquired question she had been wanting to ask."Please get me something to eat first; we'll talk about that later," I replied, slumping on the couch in the sitting room."Since today I haven't eaten, from one problem to another." I huffed a tired sigh, my eyes closing as if I were dozing off, but Benita leaned in and intervened."Please don't sleep," she said. "I will get you something shortly." She brushed my face with her palms, wiping the drowsiness off my face. She hurried into the kitchen, and within seconds, she was already out, carrying a bowl of rice. The sight alone made me almost sith, but I managed to conceal my feelings, knowing fully well that Benita would feel somehow. She might think the food is not appetizing, not knowing that I had completely stopped eating rice for the moment due to my health.I could not outrightly tel

  • I Need You Ex-wife!    32: I'll Never Leave You

VICTORIA ~Brandon was still talking when I stood up and held my son by his wrist to leave. He hurried after me. "Why are you so much in a hurry to leave my house?""Because you are making your house unconformable for me," I replied, looking away while tightening my grip around my son's wrist."Okay, I promise not to make it uncomfortable for you again," he responded, staring directly into my eyes, but I did not respond."Are you now going to stay?" He asked, and I quickly nodded in affirmation."Are you sure you'll now stay?" he repeated, his tone showing fear and insecure."Of course, I will," I replied nonchalantly, just so he could let me be.Meanwhile, I was already thinking of a way to escape the building. Benita must have gotten tired of waiting for me.It's almost half an hour since I discussed it with Victoria, and I have not shown up when I clearly told her I was on the way already as of the time we spoke."Okay, wait while I go get something for you," he said, standing up.

  • I Need You Ex-wife!    31: Emergency Call

BENITA ~ I was about to lock the door of my apartment when I felt my phone vibrating inside my handbag. My mind spirals into many possibilities of who it could be. I had just closed from work, so there's no way it would be from my boss or be a work-related issue. I dipped my hand into the handbag and took out the phone only to discover it was Brandon. Although his number was not saved in my phone, I was able to detect it was him because that was the same number that called me previously requesting I reveal Victoria's location to him. With a furrowed gaze, I stared at the screen, contemplating whether to accept the call or decline it. I stared at the screen until the call ended. Just when I was about to fling the phone into my bag and continue with where I was going, the call came again. This time I quickly accepted the call. My intention was to yell at him and then end the call, but his voice came quickly. "Benita, please, I need your help." His voice was calm and laced with

  • I Need You Ex-wife!    30: I'm Sorry For Everything That Happened

VICTORIA ~ It was eight o'clock in the morning when I, Liam, and Brandon got home. Oops, I mean when we got back to Brandon's house. My son had recovered enough to go home. I was handed the rest of his medication, which he would be taking until he recovers fully. Elese had been apprehended, and I must say I cannot really express how happy I was. Even if she sleeps her way out from the justice my son deserves, I'll handle her by myself. "Now I think I should properly welcome you to my home. To our home, I meant to say." Brandon chuckled lightly. "I believe you are talking about the past," I replied. I did not even give him the excitement he had expected. "Even in the present it's still our home..." "No, you're wrong," I said immediately, cutting him short. "Our home in the past, but not anymore." His facial expression shifted. I could tell those words pierced deeply through his skin, but his emotions were less of my concern. "I'm sorry for everything that has happened within

  • I Need You Ex-wife!    29: Blood Transfusion

VICTORIA ~ When I was discharged from the police station, given the fact that my statement proved my innocence, I was directed to the hospital where Liam was admitted. It was the police that even drove me to the hospital. They had detained Brandon to provide information necessary to get Elese, who is the best person to explain what had happened to Liam because, according to Brandon, Liam was hale and hearty, watching a movie when he left for the airport to welcome me. "I really don't have anything to say now until something happens to my son," I muttered under my breath, trying shake off the distraction. "Good evening, Ma'am," a nurse said to me as she approached me. Before she could talk further, the police with me interfered. "She's the mother to the boy. Please, how is he now?" "Oh, really?" The nurse's forehead rose a little; pity instantly flashed through her face. "How's he now?" The police repeated the question. "Well," the nurse exhaled a deep sigh. "There is improveme

  • I Need You Ex-wife!    28: Liam Is Unconscious

BRANDON ~ By the time Victoria and I got to my house, Elese's car was already at the garage, a sign that she had returned, which was what I had never expected. Earlier yesterday, she had told me she was going for a business trip and would stay for three days. I knew very well that wasn't true. I knew it was her side dude that she was going to visit, but I did not put my mind into it given the plan I had in my mind already. That event was even what gave me the medium to book a flight to Asheville City to take Liam from his school. I never knew Elese would go back against her words. Meanwhile, I had left Liam at home to go welcome Victoria at the airport. The thought that she had just returned and met Liam in the house alone gave me goosebumps. To think she would recognize that he's my son at first glance due to the striking resemblance made my heart sink. Elese would not be happy to realize I have a child outside our union. I can't stop imagining her action towards him g

VICTORIA ~ “Abortion?” Brandon asked, confusion flickering across his face. “Tell me you’re joking, Victoria,” he added, staring at me with a stoic expression. "Of course, Brandon. Are you surprised?" I chuckled, tucking my hair behind my ear. "Well, don't be. I chose this because I can't endur

  • I Need You Ex-wife!    2: An Awkward Moment

VICTORIA ~ I calmly glanced at the seven-figure value bracelet on Elese's hand, then looked directly into Brandon's eyes. "I mean exactly what I said. You give the bracelet away and give me a freebie gift. Do you think I only deserve freebies?" Brandon probably didn't expect me to bring up the
