Bella’s POV

I closed the door behind me and pressed my back against it.

The room was dim and quiet, a welcome contrast to the war drums pounding in my chest.

I had no clue why that was. I pressed my palm against my sternum as though it might stop the aching and exhaled slowly through my nose.

It didn't help.

It was the bike.

That was all it was.

An hour pressed against someone's back with nowhere else to put your hands but on his body definitely did strange things to your sense of safety.

    Bella's POV I had three corners left. Ronan was already a stretch ahead of me, but it didn't really matter. I still had time, and I was determined to beat him. The problem was something was wrong with my bike. I could feel it the same way I felt the vibration underneath my feet. Half a length of road already behind me and the final bend coming — riding a bike I didn't fully trust anymore was a dangerous hazard, but I couldn't really avoid it. I was almost certain I knew where the problem was coming from. The rear had drifted wrong twice since the second lap and the last hard turn had made the issue even more apparent.     Bella's POV I woke up without needing an alarm. I wasn't sure I ever really slept in the first place, my eyelids felt a bit heavy. My room was still a bit dark but I could tell it was almost dawn,the sun peeking through the clouds was the earliest sign. I wasn't really how I had gotten back to my room though the pack night ritual had run out itself in long winding sequences. I remember at some point Draven joining us by the fire and then leading the werewolves into a midnight run before everyone had collapsed at any spot dozing languidly. I remember closing my eyes in the field and then the feel of warm fingers running over my skin, lifting me up from the floor, the scent of spices and smoked wood filling my nostrils. Draven.
