Chapter 3

Author: Golden Time
One day, the girl that Jimmy liked, Taylor White, confessed her feelings to me.

His face sank, and his expression became extremely cold. He looked like a beast when he fixed his fierce eyes on me.

He was holding a curling wand as he sat at his desk. He slowly curled his hair to define his curls.

I was held down by two other classmates as he pressed the hot curling wand to my skin. It immediately smoked, and I trembled in pain.

He tortured me for a full hour.

Before he left, he stepped on my chest. My wound reopened, and blood started oozing out.

He glanced at me in disdain. “Doesn’t Taylor like you? Let her see the scars underneath your clothes, and let’s see if she’ll be disgusted by you.”

That day, I lay down in the empty classroom for a really long time.

I felt an excruciating pain from both the physical injuries and the mental turmoil.

This life was extremely horrible and unlivable. Maybe if I died, it would be for the best.

What a shame that I was still alive.

When I opened my eyes, it was already late at night.

I was afraid that my father would be worried. I put on my uniform and carefully concealed my wounds. I thought that my father would already be asleep at this hour.

However, when I opened the door, I saw wine bottles scattered all over our dining table.

My father looked a little different than usual.

His face was flushed from drinking, and he looked extremely young. He did not look like he had a hard life. Instead, he almost seemed like a rich man.

My father was startled when I opened the door. He leaped up from the couch. “Ben, you just got back? I thought you were already sleeping inside.”

My wounds got bloodier from the friction against my coarse uniform while I walked all the way back home. I was in extreme pain, so I did not notice that something was wrong.

I only greeted my father before I entered my bedroom. Then, I took out some ointment and started treating my wounds.

However, there were too many wounds, and I was in so much pain. Hence, I was still struggling to sleep at four in the morning.

When I shut my eyes, I saw the wine bottles that my father had been drinking from in my mind.

A poor person would not be able to afford those wines.

Coincidentally, Jimmy had humiliated me with the same wine last week.

He said the bottle cost a minimum of a hundred thousand dollars…

Yet, my father had multiple bottles scattered all over.

My mind was racing. I was imagining my father working as an escort to be able to afford my school fee, and I imagined that he was working part time at a bar late at night. Maybe security was after him because he had stolen the expensive wines.

All these thoughts clashed in my head, and tears streamed down my cheeks into my pillow.

When Jimmy forced me to drink the other day, I should have agreed to his request. He was offering me a thousand dollars for every glass I drank.

Did it matter if I was allergic to alcohol?

I was only causing my father trouble, and I did not offer him anything.

Finally, I slept with tears still on my cheeks and a deep sense of regret.

My body was covered in old scars and new wounds, and the road to recovery was long.

Fortunately, Taylor had gotten the hint. She no longer pressed for an answer when I rejected her. She focused on her studies instead. Jimmy was busy trying to win her over, so he did not bully me for two weeks.

I counted on my fingers. I just had to bear with this for a bit longer. The SATs were ten days away, and after that, everything would be over.

Just when I thought I would be free from this hellish life, Jimmy suddenly sent someone to bring me to the bar.

“I’m paying you more this time. With every glass you drink, I’m paying you two thousand dollars…”

I recalled how my father had looked the other night, and I immediately agreed to his request before he finished speaking.

I just had to drink ten glasses, and my father would not have to work at his food stand for a year.

Jimmy covered his mouth and sobbed. “He’s basically crazy. He keeps reading a password-locked diary every single day. He says he’s damned, but then, he claims that I killed his son and wants me to pay for it. He wants to send me to hell so that I’ll never recover!” I was stunned when I heard what Jimmy said. Initially, I thought it was a family enemy who had been torturing him. After all, the Anderson family was huge, so they could have offended some people when they were doing business. Besides, Jimmy was a troublemaker. He had done a lot of bad things, so it would be normal for an enemy to want revenge. However, when I heard that the man was exacting revenge for his son, my heart skipped a beat. My father was torturing Jimmy for what he had done to me, and he left Jimmy in a terrible state. Time would heal all. My new life was filled with hope. All the past hatred and anger had left me along with my love for my father. I thought I could face this calmly. However, when

However, I had lied. The password was not my birthday. However, that did not matter. They had to take my word for it. As expected, upon hearing my response, my father did not ask anything further. He took the diary with trembling hands. I did not read the diary or look at my father’s face. After all, I was already familiar with the content. It was details of Jimmy’s bullying. I had written them down at midnight when I could not sleep from my wounds hurting. Showing him the diary was intentional. I did not care if it was a cruel and heartless move. I wondered if he would regret it when he saw that Jimmy, whom he praised to have a bright future, was such a cold-blooded and vicious person in private. That day, I left with Captain George. He scolded me because of my actions. He kicked me out of the case and asked me to calm down. After I became Sam, I lived a good life. I wanted to compensate Sam for giving me his life. Maybe it was escapism, but I focused on studying

I reached out and pulled the torn rag further down to expose all the horrible wounds to my father. I carefully touched the scars. “Do you recognize this? It’s a scar from being burned. It recovers very slowly, and it’ll leave you in pain for a really long time as it gets infected. Whenever it’s hot and humid, it’ll get extremely itchy. You’ll wish you could bury yourself in the snow or rub it against the floor.”I looked at the scars that were healing on the back of my father’s hands, and I simply said, “But it’s not impossible to treat it. There’s a special imported medicine. After applying it for two weeks, the wounds will magically recover.”Hearing this, my father’s hands suddenly started trembling uncontrollably. He grabbed his right wrist to stop the tremor. I continued, “But this medicine is extremely expensive for a small volume. It costs two thousand dollars for a single tube. For a normal scar just like yours, you’ll need at least three tubes to recover.” Two thousa

Captain George grabbed my arm and dragged me out. When we reached the door, I struggled free from him and rushed inside. Then, I pushed my father onto the floor. “Sam, what are you doing?” Captain George quickly dragged me out, as he was afraid that I would do something overboard. However, I did not care. My eyes were filled with tears as I glared at my father’s frozen expression. “Why are you so cruel? When he was alive, you allowed him to be tortured. Now that he’s dead, you’re still protecting the killer. He’s your son! He was willing to give you everything, and he was the closest person to you! How could you be so cruel?!” I roared and let my anger loose. Captain George grabbed me and dragged me out. “Sam, what’s wrong with you? Get out!” I did not know how I gathered the strength, but I broke free from Captain George’s grip and ran over to tear the clothes off my dead body. The clothes, which were already ragged and torn from the torture, easily pulled apart. The sca

Maybe heaven had taken pity on me for having such a hard life. Even though I was dead, I had been given another chance to survive. I became a policeman who had just joined the police force. I was holding a notebook while recording the details of a murder case. I was still in shock from dying and living again when I heard the captain verifying the identity of the corpse. Then, he called my father. “Hello, are you Ben’s father? I’m sorry to inform you that Ben has sadly been murdered. Please come over to assist in our investigation…” My father sounded very calm, “Are scams nowadays this ridiculous? How dare you pretend to be a cop? I bet you don’t know who I am. Otherwise, you wouldn’t dare to come up with such silly tactics.” After that, my father immediately ended the call. The beeping sound from the phone indicated that the call was over. All the police officers who were working on the case were shocked by the reaction. They tried calling a few more times, but my fat

“Mr. Reid, what’s wrong?” Jimmy asked as he looked at my father, who was lost in thought when he stared at the private room. My father stared intently at the room. It was dark inside, so he could not see anything, but he felt strangely uneasy. His heart was beating violently. He rubbed his temple and smiled at Jimmy gently. “Maybe I didn’t get enough sleep yesterday. I thought I heard my son calling me.” Jimmy was stunned. He subconsciously glanced at the private room before he immediately looked away. “Mr. Reid, your son is of high social status, and I bet he’s an excellent young man. How would he be in such a normal private room?” After my father heard Jimmy’s words, he thought the same. “That’s right. My son’s good and obedient. He wouldn’t be here.” My heart sank when I heard that. I had too many questions in my head. Why would my father be here today? Why was he so close to Jimmy, who was utterly disgusting? Why was everyone who dressed wealthily here pleasing
