LOGINAt the Green mansion in Sandton, Ursula Green was nestled in her husband, Daniel Green, with strong arms. Her husband was rubbing her big belly.
They had been married for three years, and her husband’s parents loved her so dearly. Her mother-in-law had never missed her prenatal check-up. `
Even though the Green family was poor, Ursula’s parents didn’t look down on Daniel because they loved each other very much.
The Morgan family was the second wealthiest and most influential family in the country. They operated hotel chains, managed commercial real estate, and provided logistics services, spanning multiple sectors of the economy.
The Morgan couple had two children: their eldest son, Kingston Morgan, and their youngest daughter, Ursula. They loved their children wholeheartedly.
Kingston was the Morgan Group CEO, and his father, Sebastian Morgan, was the Chairman. His wife, Sophia, was a housewife.
Ursula looked at her husband with eyes full of love and said, “Baby, I have a feeling that something bad is going to happen today. My spirits are down.
Please be careful when you are driving to work, my love. We wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to you, my husband.”
Her husband looked at her with tenderness in his eyes and replied, “Nothing bad is going to happen to us, Sweetheart. Maybe it’s just hormones since you are pregnant. I cannot wait to hold my little buns.
My mother wants to move in with us after you give birth. What do you think, my love?”
Ursula smiled brightly and replied, “Honey, Mom is so sweet. It will be wonderful to be surrounded by the people I love the most.
My mother wanted to move in with us when I was three months pregnant, but Daddy stopped her. I will ask the housekeeper to prepare two guest rooms for them.”
Daniel lowered his gaze to hide his emotions. He wasn’t happy that his in-laws would move in with them.
The Morgan family gave them the matrimonial mansion as a wedding gift. Then they helped him establish the Green Group. He felt inferior to his wife because of everything he had been given by his wife’s family.
Since his wife’s spirits were down, he looked at her with eyes full of concern and asked, “Do you want me to keep you company?”
Ursula shook her head and replied, “No, Hubby. Didn’t you say you had a board meeting this morning? Maybe it’s just hormones, as you indicated. If I encounter any problem, I will ask Butler Steve to call you.
Please go and take a bath. You will be stuck in traffic if you leave late.” Her husband kissed her passionately, then he went to the bathroom to bathe.
Ursula went to the bathroom to pee, then she brushed her teeth and washed her face. She walked to her husband’s closet and picked a custom-made black suit, white shirt, and red tie.
Her husband walked out of the bathroom with the towel wrapped around his waist. He was drying his hair with the towel.
Ursula took a hairdryer and helped him to dry his hair. Then she helped him wear his clothes. Ursula wanted to touch his beautiful ABS, but she restrained herself.
She accompanied her husband to the dining room to eat. She had a feeling that it was the last time they would eat breakfast together.
Was one of them going to die that day? She was enveloped by fear. She asked the Lord to bless them with more years.
After her husband finished eating, Ursula sent him off. She hugged him tightly for a long time and said, “Travel mercies on the road, my love.” Daniel kissed her on the forehead, then he got in the car and drove away.
Unbeknownst to Ursula, there was no board meeting. Her husband was rushing to spend time with his first love, Patricia Sullivan.
Six months ago, Daniel bought an apartment for his first love, and then he hired her as his secretary. Even though he had promised his wife that he would never have a female secretary.
Patricia dumped Daniel because he was poor. Then she secretly married a wealthy man and left the country with him.
Patricia had been abused by her husband for years, then she decided to return to the country.
When Daniel arrived at the Green Group, he called his mother. When the call was connected, he said, “Hello, Mom. Are you well? Ursula is not feeling well. Kindly go to our matrimonial mansion and keep her company.”
His mother indicated that she had received a call from Ursula checking up on them. Then she promised him that she would go to their matrimonial mansion to keep Ursula company.
Ursula called her parents, her brother, Kingston, her brother’s best friend, Harvey Stanton, and her best friend, Rain Stanton, to check if everything was alright with them.
Her mother was so worried since she was heavily pregnant. She wanted to come to the Green mansion to stay with her until she gave birth. However, Ursula told her that Butler Steve would call her should something happen to her.
Ursula didn’t want her mother to come because her father was not well. He was booked off sick for a week.
She was craving buns with a lot of cheese, so she went to the kitchen and started baking.
Half an hour later, Ursula heard the sound of the car. She heard Butler Steve saying, ‘Good morning, Madam.’ She smiled brightly and walked to the door to greet her mother-in-law.
Her mother-in-law smiled brightly, then she hugged her and said, “Good morning, my sweet daughter-in-law. How are my precious grandsons?”
Ursula touched her huge belly and replied, “Good morning, Mom. Your precious grandsons are doing well. Only one week left, then you will hold them in your arms.”
Her mother-in-law was beside herself with excitement. Ursula ushered her mother-in-law to the living room.
A few minutes later, the housekeeper walked into the living room carrying a tray. She had prepared tea with soft and fluffy cream buns for Mrs Green. Then she put a plate of buns with cheese in front of Ursula.
Ursula thanked her, then she took the teapot and poured tea for her mother-in-law. Her mother-in-law smiled brightly and took a bite.
She closed her eyes and said, “My sweet daughter, these buns are divine. You have to teach me how to bake such delicate buns.”
Ursula nodded her head and replied, “Mom, after I give birth to your little buns, we will bake together.
Mom, I asked the helper to prepare the guest rooms for you and Mom. Both are on the second floor.” The Green mansion was perched on a hillside overlooking the lush green golf course.
Her mother-in-law smiled brightly and asked, “My sweet daughter, do you mind if I move in with you today?”
Ursula shook her head and replied, “Mom, you can move in with us anytime. Why don’t you go to the second floor and choose your bedroom?” Her mother-in-law was over the moon.
After she finished eating her delicious creamy buns then she went to the second floor to choose her bedroom. She stood on the balcony and looked at the golf course below.
Maddox’s warm laughter instantly filled the grand living room of the Carson family mansion, completely shattering the heavy tension. He looked at his fiancée with tenderness in his eyes and replied, “She didn't reject me, Grandma. She said yes. The heirloom ring is officially on her finger. I will send you the photos, Grandma.”His voice echoed over the line, radiant and filled with a profound joy they hadn't heard in twelve long months. His Grandma gasped softly, her hand flying to her mouth as her eyes instantly filled with large, glistening tears of pure relief. She sank back into her armchair, all the agonizing anxiety that had gripped her throughout the evening melting away into a surge of immense pride. She reached out her hand to her daughter-in-law, and she whispered, her voice trembling as she wiped a tear from her cheek and said, “The Lord is good, my precious grandson.Your steadfastness has brought the light back to our family. Bring my beautiful granddaughter-in-law home
Maddox’s eyes were full of an intense, emotional warmth, and he murmured, "I don't need to date you to know my own heart, Rain.”He led her towards the beautifully decorated table and smoothly pulled out a chair for her. Rain offered him a shy smile, her heart fluttering as she thanked him. In the background, a violinist began to play a soft, enchanting melody.A few minutes later, the Executive Chef, Kwazi Bele, approached their table, flanked by four waiters carrying round gold chafing dishes. Maddox knew that his beloved Rain deserved nothing less than perfection that night. The Chef Bele bowed respectfully as the waiters simultaneously lifted the heavy gold lids, releasing a rich, mouthwatering aroma into the night air.For the main course, Maddox had specially requested Prime Wagyu beef tenderloin fillet paired with smooth buttery mashed potatoes, roasted baby carrots, and rich bone marrow. Then, he ordered Rain’s favourite dessert, Deconstructed Meyer lemon tart featuring a crisp
In the blink of an eye, the year of mourning was over. It had carved a deep hollow in Rain’s heart, but Maddox had spent every day since filling it with steadfastness and grace. For the first time, she didn't feel the phantom weight of her ex-husband’s betrayal or the suffocating grief for her son pulling her backward. Instead, she felt light.Rain looked up at her brother, Harvey, her eyes brimming with profound gratitude, and she said softly, “Big brother, I don’t have enough words to thank you for the unyielding support you have given me through the darkest days of my life.I have never experienced this kind of unconditional love. May the good Lord bless you abundantly. It’s time for us to go back home now, Big Brother.”Her brother offered her a gentle, tired smile, the weight of the past twelve months finally lifting from his chest. He shook his head, refusing to let her carry any debt of gratitude toward him, and he replied, “Family stands together, baby sis. That’s what we do.T
In the parking lot, Gia tried to approach Austin, but Uncle Gerry looked at her with stern eyes and said, “Miss Gia, the Pearson family is still in mourning. Please give them time to grieve.”Gia spotted Austin as he stepped away from the courthouse steps alongside his legal counsel, and she saw her only window of opportunity to satisfy Mr Jungle's demands. She quickened her pace, her heart hammering against her ribs as she prepared to corner him and force the business venture to a conclusion. She took off her mask and glasses. However, before she could even utter a word, Uncle Gerry stepped forward, flawlessly positioning his towering frame like an iron shield between her and Austin.Uncle Gerry looked at her with stern, unyielding eyes that pierced right through her dark lenses, and he said, “Miss Gia, the Pearson family is still in mourning. Please give them time to grieve.”Miss Gia froze in her tracks. Austin stood completely still, his hands stuffed into his trouser pockets as hi
A cold, mocking smile touched Prosecutor Long's lips because he had expected exactly that kind of response. He handed the document to the court orderly, who quickly placed it directly on Judge Cronje’s bench.Prosecutor Long looked at the nervous prison warden and said, “Your Honour, I have just handed over the certified forensic network logs from the Department of Correctional Services for that exact morning.”Then Prosecutor Long turned to Mr Cloud and said, “The prison's digital switchboard was audited, and not a single internal call was routed to your block during your entire shift. However, your personal unregistered burner phone received a call from an anonymous caller. Five minutes after you hung up, a cash deposit of one hundred thousand rand was cleared into your mother's bank account. Now, let me ask you one more time, and remember you are under oath. Whose order were you following, Mr Cloud?”The courtroom erupted into a chaotic storm of whispers. Judge Cronje slammed his ga
At the penthouse, Austin approached his mother and said softly, “Mom, I just received a call from Uncle Gerry indicating that the trial for the people responsible for my sister's death is officially scheduled for Wednesday.Do you want to attend it, Mom?”A look of profound exhaustion washed over his mother’s face as she shook her head and replied, "I don’t have the strength to look at the people who took my daughter's life, Son.Besides, the public will only turn the trial into a spectacle, mocking our family and claiming this nightmare is just karma.”Austin's expression hardened as he gave a tight nod and said, "Don't worry about it, Mom. I will go with Uncle Gerry. I just hope Miss Gia isn't foolish enough to approach me in that courtroom.”The mere mention of Miss Gia's name caused a torrent of deep-seated hatred to surge through Mrs Pearson’s chest. It was Miss Gia who had maliciously sent the horrific photo of her daughter's body covered with blood to her husband, triggering the
