Mag-log inFreya has been a real supporter and backbone for the whole week while we settled into campus, a true reliable friend indeed. I didn't know what I did to deserve her but I was super grateful to have her in my life.
The big move from the Crested Mountains Pack To Ivory Spire University felt like wake-up from a black-and-white dream into a world of high definition color. Everywhere here was beautiful and bustling with so many activities, there were so many fun places we saw together, the reason being that we resumed much earlier than most. Back home, the energy that surrounded me was dull and suffocating as many treated me less, my family members included of course, i was never happy there, But Here? it was different. No one knew me. I was new and free! During our first week, Freya and I were a blur of organized chaos if that makes any sense. We’d spent our days hauling boxes into our new dorms; they were minimalist suites with floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over the city. For me, just having a room that my step sisters didn't barge into whenever they felt like was a luxury I hadn't fully processed yet. We met Sofia on our second afternoon. A brown haired girl with petite frame, She looked soft and easygoing, She was a second year student and a high ranking werewolf judging from her distinct aura though we never asked anything about her personal life Over the next few days, Sofia became our lifeline. She too didn't ask about my rank or my bloodline. We became close in time like the three musketeers. She just showed us around, told us which cafes had the fastest Wi-Fi and which rooftop gardens were the best for watching the sunset. For the first time ever in my life, I wasn't the defect or the rejected girl. I was just Jasmine. By Friday night, the three of us were sprawled across the floor of my dorm room. We had snacks we were munching on, salty popcorn and sweet tangy grapes. My textbooks were cracked open, but my mind was miles away. "I’m telling you, Jas," Freya said, leaning back against the foot of my bed while munching on the snacks. "This scholarship has changed everything for you. We can actually live here." "I still keep waiting for the floor to drop," I admitted, hugging my pillow to my chest. "Back at Crested Mountains, silence always meant trouble was coming. Here, it’s just... quiet." Sofia, who had been lazily scrolling through her phone while eating a bowl of grapes, suddenly sat upright. “Wait! were you admitted through the Queen’s Scholarship program?” She asked? I nodded slowly not understanding why she asked. “That's cool, Jas! That means you are a literal Genius! Now I have a friend who’d help with studying and assignments” she giggled like a five year old in excitement. Freya and I laughed so hard at her little play. Sofia had this mischievous glint in her eyes that I was starting to realize usually meant trouble—the fun kind. "Okay, enough," Sofia announced, clapping her hands together. "The vibe in here is a little poor. It’s Friday night at the Ivory Spire girls. We have been eating junk food and reading about 'Lunar Rotations' for four hours. My brain is turning into actual mush." "What are you thinking, Sof?" Freya asked, her eyebrows shooting up in curiosity. "I'm thinking that The Den has a guest list with my name on it," Sofia said, a wicked grin spreading across her face. "It’s the biggest club in the city. Everyone goes. It’s loud, it’s dark, and the music is so heavy you can't hear yourself think—which is exactly what we need tonight." “Up up up everyone” she was dragging us to a sitting position. I looked down at my oversized hoodie and the messy bun I’d thrown my hair into. "I don't know, Sof. I was kind of looking forward to finishing this chapter and actually sleeping for eight hours." Sofia groaned, throwing a grape at me. "Sleep is for summer break, Jasmine! You are nineteen, you’re gorgeous, and you are officially a city girl now. You are not spending your first Friday night on campus hiding in your room even if it is a very nice room." "She has a point, Jas," Freya nudged me, a spark of excitement catching in her eyes. "We haven't even seen the city lights yet. Just one night? Let's go dance, we come back. No drama. No werewolves from back home." I looked from Freya’s hopeful face to Sofia’s determined one. The rejection bond still felt like a dull, hollow ache in the back of my mind, but for the first time, I wanted to drown it out with something louder than my own thoughts. "Fine," I laughed, standing up and tossing my pillow aside. "But if I trip in front of half the school, I’m blaming both of you." "Deal!" Sofia cheered, jumping up and heading for my closet. "Now, let’s get you out of that hoodie. I have a dress in my room that was practically made for someone with your eye colour you'd kill in it." ~~~~~~~~ The Den was nothing like the forest bonfires back at the Crested Mountains. It was a building of shadow and light, vibrating with a bass so deep I could feel it thrumming in my marrow. Sofia led the way, weaving through the crowd with the confidence of someone who owned the place. "Stay close!" Sofia shouted over a remix of a popular track. "The VIP booth is just around the corner!" I felt exposed in the black shimmering dress Sofia had practically forced me into. It felt less like a dress and more like a second skin. For the first time, I didn't have my oversized hoodie to hide behind. I feel... well… seen. We we just begining to settle in, when I felt it... A sudden spike of heat against the back of my neck, like someone was holding a match to my skin. I turned my head, my eyes scanning the sea of moving bodies until they landed on a corner booth shrouded in deep amber light. Sitting there, leaning back with a glass of bourbon in his hand, was a guy who looked like he had been sculpted from perfection itself. He was just watching me with two pretty blondes hanging off each side of his arms. His eyes were the most incredible and beautiful set I’d ever seen—liquid honey, bright and piercing even in the dim club light. He didn't look away when our gazes locked. Instead, a slow, predatory smirk curled the corners of his lips. "Sofia," I whispered, leaning in close to her ear. "Who is that? The one in the back booth who looks like he’s trying to read my soul?" Sofia followed my gaze and let out a little gasp. "I didn't know he was back yet, that's Caspian. He’s my cousin. Come on, girls let me introduce you guys!" My heart pulse increased as Sofia pulled me and Freya toward the booth. Every step closer felt like walking into a magnetic field. Up close, Caspian was even more devastatingly gorgeous. He had a sharp, clean jawline and dark hair that fell perfectly over his forehead and he looked like he would smell delicious, too bad I'm smell blind...~Lucien~"What kind of woman would send her men to attack her son’s mate? She isn’t an enemy. She’s like our wife, our princess. She belongs to this family now."I watched as her lips twisted into a tight line. She turned around to face me fully, slamming the brush down onto the table."I will not just watch you and your brothers get mated to that girl," she said, her voice rising to match mine. "She has seduced you three with her gentle look, and you are all too blind to see it. Lucien, can’t you see what is happening? How can she keep three of you to herself? It is greedy. It is a scandal. The three princes of the werewolf clan with one single mate. The packs will talk. She will be sleeping with all three brothers. Don’t you see the kind of gossip a mate like that will create? Don’t you see the shame it will bring to me and your father, the king?"She took a step toward me, her chest heaving in anger. "This throne... we have toiled for it over the years. We bled for this territory
~Lucien~I stood perfectly still, watching him carefully. He had been my bodyguard since I was eighteen. Six years now. And in all that time, he had never lied to me. He had always given me the truth, even when it was ugly. Why would he start now? What would he gain by starting a war between the princes and the queen?"All right, I agree," I said. "I will ask her myself. And Benjamin... I am not mad at you. Not really. I know you’re just carrying out your job. But I wish you had informed me first." Benjamin nodded slowly, his eyes watching me wearily. "I am going to see her now," I told him, stepping past him toward the door. "Do you want to come?"He opened his mouth to speak, then shut it without saying anything. He looked down at the floor. I didn’t need him to say it. I had my answer. He had done his part by apologizing. He wasn’t going to involve himself in a confrontation between a prince and the queen.I left my room and made the long walk to the queen’s wing. The castle
~Lucien~It took everything in me to stay calm when Kalean said he was sending those severed heads to our mother. The words left his mouth easily, like he was talking about something light. But the shock of them still had my body shaking with anger. I stood there, staring at him.I found it hard to believe that our mother would actually send her personal men to kill our mate. It made no sense. My mother was a queen, yes, but she was also the woman who raised me with gentleness. I felt something was wrong somewhere. There had to be a missing piece, a misunderstanding, or a lie. I tried so hard to remain in that room, to act like a prince and keep my composure. Then, the worst happened. Jasmine fainted.Kalean lost his mind, turning all his anger on me, glaring with his jaw clenched, accusing me with his eyes as if it were my fault she collapsed. It wasn’t my fault. I had warned her before we even stepped foot down there. I looked her in the face and told her how brutal his questioni
~Jasmine~"You want to go back to Ivory Spire? You think you'd be safe there? Did you forget what happened before we brought you to Ravenwood? You were poisoned, Jasmine! You can't even go back. You can't. Start your studies here tomorrow. Don't even let Kalean hear you say this."I looked at him in shock, my mouth trembling as tears blurred my gaze."I'm done for," I said softly, He looks at me, his brow furrowed, "My life was perfectly normal before I met you three! Every single time I have been in danger is because of you triplets!" I yelled, the tears pouring down my cheeks."Jas," he muttered, reaching his hand out to touch my wet cheek, but I stepped back quickly, "I can't have a normal life anymore, Cas! Fuck! If they find out my wolf is silent, imagine what they will do to me!”"Reduce your voice, Jasmine," he warned, his eyes flashed to the bedroom door. "You need to quiet down.""I don't care anymore, Cas! I don't!" I yelled back, refusing to quiet down as the sheer exhau
~Jasmine~I woke up feeling numb and disoriented. I blinked twice as my vision cleared, then remembered what had happened. I had fainted, slumped right into Lucien's body outside the cells. The image of Kalean coldly slitting the necks of the queen's personal men appeared in my mind, making me suddenly feel chilly. I moved, trying to drag my sheet over my body, only to see I wasn't the only one on the bed.Caspian was laying facing the other side, snoring softly.I looked around, I was in my room. Apart from just I and Caspian, there was no one else. I felt my body soften as I moved closer to him, but tried not to touch him, just close enough to feel his heat, he stirred a bit then turned, as if he could feel me already. I watched him open his eyes to look at me. I smiled at him as he rubbed his face."What are you doing in my bed?" I whispered as he drew me closer to his body until his naked chest was touching my body.He wrapped his arms around my waist, sniffing me as he inhale
~Jasmine~I sat on the edge of my bed for three hours. I had taken a shower, washed Rhet's dried blood out of my hair, before changing into a simple pair of dark jeans and a plain black sweater. The silence in my room was deafening, everytime time I closed my eyes, I saw the teeth of those wolves and Rhet collapsing into the dirt. Finally, a knock rang on my door.Lucien walked in wearing fresh clothes."They are back," He said quietly as if still reluctant to let me go see for myself. "They caught the remaining men, they're in the cells.""Did they say anything yet?" I asked, moving to meet him by the door, my mind would not rest until I found out who sent them."No," Lucien replied, turning to lead the way. "Kalean wanted to wait until we were all present. Caspian is already down there."I nodded following him out of the residence quarters. He led me to a hidden door tucked behind a staircase. We walked down a long corridor that went deep underground, the air there felt cold.
~Jasmine POV~"Umm, I am leaving you guys. I need to go to the cafe, call my parents, and get lunch," Freya said. "Call me when you're ready to leave, Jas". She winked at me before heading off. I wanted her to stay with me always, but then again, maybe a little privacy was better."She's smart," L
~Kalean~The air inside the private jet felt cold, no matter how much I tried to settle into the leather seat. We were cutting across the sky at a speed that should have made me feel like we were winning against time, The flight was only six hours, yet by the time the wheels touched the ground n
~Jasmine~"There was a rogue attack," he started, his voice low"One of the packs nearby asked for help. I sent a few of our men to handle it, but they couldn't hold the line. Now, my father is saying two more packs were hit within the last hour."The fork in my hand felt like it weighed a hundred
~Jasmine~ "I’m... I’m so sorry. I didn't mean to drop the glass." My voice sounded like it belonged to someone else, someone much younger and much more broken. One minute, I was a girl trying to figure out why three gorgeous werewolves wanted me, and the next, I was looking at the heirs to the
