CHAPTER 6

last update publish date: 2026-05-27 16:55:58

She had not expected to see Jessica in Springfield.

And worst still, she had not expected her here at Edison Global at all.

Jessica had left in a hurry months ago, leaving only a note saying no one should look for her.

But now how did she end up here?

“Oh! I didn’t expect to run into you here,” Jessica said, spinning lightly on her heels.

Her voice was playful, but there was something uneasy underneath it.

Tessy tried to steady herself, the noise of the parking lot fading slightly as she focused on Jessica.

“Jessica… what are you doing here?” Tessy’s voice was low, almost a whisper, filled with shock and suspicion.

Jessica leaned slightly forward, closing the small space between them as if she wanted to be in control of the moment.

“I work here at Edison Global as the chief designer,” she said, her tone full of pride.

The scent of her perfume drifted faintly into Tessy's nostrils, strong and expensive.

Jessica spun lightly again, clearly enjoying the attention around her.

“Not only that… I’m also the fiancée of the CEO of Edison Global.” Jessica spined around again “ Oh! Talk of the devil.” Tessy turned in the direction Jessica was looking at. She saw a very tall man coming down the stairs.

When the man finally came into full view, Jessica scoffed. She had thought it was the CEO

Tessy looked at her from head to toe, then back again, she looked at her car. Everything screams millions.

‘And she has found a new style of speaking… dance speaking,’

Jessica flipped her hair again and spun lightly as if the entire hallway existed only for her.

Tessy’s lips pressed together slightly as she watched Jessica spin again.

“You said you’re the CEO’s fiancée?” Tessy asked, raising her eyebrows.

“Yes,” Jessica replied smoothly, flipping her hair again.

“Since when?” Tessy asked with her two hands on her hips.

“Does it matter?” Jessica smirked, the corners of her lips lifting slightly.

“But I thought Matt was your boyfriend. You even…”

Tessy paused, her voice finding the right intonation—“slept with him a few days ago. Which day was that?”

Tessy purposely teased her. Before she Jessica left Puma, Tessy had caught her taking abortion pills, she had said,

“ that Matt is a bastard always getting me pregnant.” Now she is  already engaged to a CEO.

“You!” Jessica snapped angrily, her face turning red as her faked calm expression broke.

“It’s none of your business who I sleep with! Whatever you’re doing here.

Just go back to the gutter where my father picked you and  your mother up years ago.”

Tessy ignored her words.

Her lips curled slightly into a mocking derisive smile.

Tessy mocked back, “I know how much Matt loves you, he spent years running after you, and now you’ve dropped him for a richer man. That’s really sad.”

She tilted her head slightly, clearly enjoying Jessica’s frustration.

“Matt and I were just having a fling!” Jessica shot back angrily, her voice rising a little.

“You don’t expect me to remain with a broke man like  Matt instead of a CEO.

If you know what’s good for you, stay away from my troubles.”

Tessy gave a small shrug and turned away calmly, which only irritated Jessica more.

She turned and started walking toward the building entrance.

It was her first day at work, and she did not want to waste time arguing.

Jessica followed at a distance, her heels clicking sharply against the polished floor, each step sounding tense and irritated.

Inside the design department, Jessica walked in in a loud, attention-seeking way, making sure everyone noticed her the moment she entered.

It was not her first day, but she carried herself as if she was making a fresh introduction.  Just so Tessy could feel it again.

“Hello everyone,” Jessica announced, spreading her arms slightly as she spoke. “I am the chief designer of this company, and also the wife of the CEO of Edison Global.”

Initially, she said fiancee, now she said wife.

There was a brief pause. Some colleagues smiled politely. Others looked away, uninterested.

A few had already met her earlier, but Jessica still acted like this was her moment.

Several employees exchanged brief looks the moment Jessica finished speaking.

Tessy stayed quiet near the corner, observing Jessica carefully without interrupting her.

Jessica moved around the office so confidently that it almost felt like she had belonged there forever—wealth, attention, influence, all wrapped around her like it was natural.

When the brief introduction was finished, a man noticed Tessy standing at a corner.

 The man looked at her.

“And who is this innocent beauty queen?”

Immediately, all eyes turned toward Tessy.

The room grew unusually quiet the moment all eyes landed on Tessy.

Her famous feminine look stood out, her smooth skin glowed in the morning light.

Tessy stepped forward slowly, keeping her voice steady.“I’m Tessera Stone,” she said. “I’m a new employee in the design department.”

She pointed at Jessica, “Jessica, here is my sister.” she smiled faintly showing her adorable dimples.

 “Wow! Someone exclaimed softly

“ Look at her eyes.” A man uttered loudly.

Tessy had remarkably big cat-like blue eyes.

Some people think that it is her eyes that make her exceptionally beautiful, others believe it is her soft facial features.

The room fell into silence instantly.

Jessica’s smile stiffened for a brief second the moment Tessy called her sister.

Then Jessica laughed, loud and mocking, filling through the quiet room.

“That is a lie!” Jessica said quickly. “She is not my sister, and she is not my friend either. She’s just an old schoolmate I helped out of pity. A poor orphan, really. I brought her here so she could see what I could do for her.”

A few minutes later, the office PA system crackled to life.

“Everyone, please pay attention… the CEO is here.”

Ethan looked very surprised. Turning to Tessy, Eric said, “Tessy, go back to your office.” Tessy nodded immediately and left the office. The soft sound of the door closing filled the quiet room. Ethan turned sharply to Eric. “Eric Edison, are you telling me you are interested in both sisters?” Ethan asked. Eric’s face remained expressionless. “Stop talking nonsense. I don’t want you getting close to her,” Eric replied coldly. “Why?” Ethan asked. “Do I need to explain to you? You are getting married in few weeks’ time.” Eric reminded Ethan as if he had forgotten. “Hmn, collecting her phone number doesn't mean I am going to chase her. I just feel this connection with her, as if I have known her for years,” Ethan said while leaning back in his chair thoughtfully. Eric laughed at Ethan while muttering, “Poor opening line.” Ethan was annoyed and wanted to hit Eric. He pointed an annoyed finger at “A governor should not fight.” Eric said quickly with a smile. — The next day.

Eric’s eyes narrowed slightly.“I am happy,” Eric answered too quickly.Ethan tilted his head slowly.“I am not convinced, dude,” Ethan said.“I said I am happy,” Eric repeated, almost raising his voice this time.Ethan simply smiled like he had heard enough lies in his life.“Alright… then when am I going to meet her?” Ethan asked.“You will see her soon,” Eric replied, already reaching for the lunch container Tessy had brought earlier. He opened it and placed it on the table, and immediately the rich aroma of the food spread lightly through the office. Then he poured drinks for both of them. Ice cubes clinked softly against the glass cups.Ethan watched closely.“Did she cook this?” Ethan asked casually.“No,” Eric replied. “My personal assistant got it for me. She happens to be the elder sister of my woman.”Ethan thought it was Tessy who cooked the food which happens to be the truth. But Er

Tessy, standing at the corner of the office, felt her heart tighten. Fear crept into her heart. She was afraid he would immediately notice that the food was not from the Edison Hotel. But Eric did not say anything. He continued eating, slowly at first and then he paced up, as if he was beginning to enjoy it.Tessy blinked in surprise. This was not what she expected. She had been ready for him to push the food away or question it sharply, but instead, he kept eating until the last spoon. When he was done, he leaned back slightly and drank some water. Not even a grain was left.Tessy could hardly believe it.Eric raised his eyes and looked at her.His expression was unreadable.“The food is delicious,” he said finally. “Better than the previous ones.”Tessy’s breath caught for a moment. Then he added, more slowly,“Are you sure this is from the same staff at Edison Hotel?”His eyes stayed on her

What are you doing here?”“I have been sent to take you to the Edison Hotel to buy breakfast for the boss.”Tessy was even more surprised. The boss was always cold to her, yet sometimes he did things that made her wonder if there was more to it. For a moment, her heart shifted, but she quickly corrected herself.“Tessera Stone, don’t get carried away,” she warned herself quietly. Then she faced the real issue in front of her.Should she follow the driver to the hotel and pretend? Or should she tell the truth? After thinking for a few seconds, she chose the simpler path.“Sam… can you keep a secret?” she asked.Sam paused. He did not know what to expect, but he liked

Eric finally raised his head and looked at her.“I don’t have a wife yet who will cook for me?”Tessy blinked, then said without thinking,“But you have a live-in girlfriend—”“She is not a maid or a cook,” Eric cut in, his voice low. There was irritation in it now.But Tessy did not notice.“Or maybe she doesn’t know how to cook,” she added simply.Eric was not happy with that statement; he didn’t want anyone speaking evil of his woman. Although Jessica has never attempted making any meal since they came together, he didn’t expect that from her. His house was full of maids and cooks.Although he was a very picky eater. It was difficult for him to eat food prepared by anyone. He makes his own meals when he has time, which he hardly had.Jessica indeed did not know how to cook, and Tessy knew it very well. Back then, Jessica always pushed house chores to her. In the end, she learned nothing.Eric’s face hard
