AMERIE

I must have been crazy. How could I agree to Matthew's offer when I barely knew him? It was like throwing myself to a lion.

Yes, a lion. I could feel his wildness throughout our sex.

Oh, Goddess! How could I think such a thing right now?

"Are you sure about your decision?" The question snapped me from my thoughts. "There won't be turning back after this. I won't let you go, even when you beg me. You're mine or a month or never." Matthew threatened with possessiveness in his voice.

I should have feared, as I was aware that he could do everything to crush someone. But strangely, he sounded protective of me, and I knew I would be safe in his arms.

I nodded. "As long as you keep your promise, I'll keep mine, too. I will be your girlfriend, and you will only be my boyfriend." I had determined and known the consequences, too. At worst, he would break his promises, and I would be free.

He raked my body up and down before licking his lips. "Hm.. Sounds perfect."

I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow every time he did that. He seemed to enjoy examining my body like a lion observing his prey. In my case, a prey for his lust.

I was about to ask when a ding was heard, and soon, the door to the elevator that brought us down opened.

"Why don't we begin to hold hands?" He asked, offering a hand, which I accepted wholeheartedly.

"Sure."

Then we walked out of the elevator side by side with hands entangled with each other.

"Alpha." A male greeted us as soon as we arrived at his place. He must be the Beta, to whom Matthew had been talking before. He glanced at me, and I saw questions in his eyes. He must be wondering who I was.

But Matthew didn't stop. He kept walking, leaving me with no choice except to follow him, not even introducing myself. "Do we find them?"

The Beta shook his head. "Our men are tracking them, but they seem good at hiding." He trailed behind us, taking steps on the other side of Matthew. "They must be leaving a few hours before we found their camp."

"For how long they camped there?"

"We don't know, Alpha. But it must be over a day, and they seemed to plan well because we found nothing except their ashes."

"Of course, they are well planned. They have nothing but run." Matthew talked in disgust.

Matthew gave a glimpse of the matter before we left the room. It was about rogue, and this discussion must be the same.

"Add more men to secure our border and scout the neutral forest. We cannot let this slide our watch again."

"Noted, Alpha."

We continued walking until we reached a black sedan outside the building. The Beta rushed to the driver's seat. Meanwhile, Matthew took a passenger seat alongside me after deliberately waiting for me to enter the car first.

This sight must have been odd enough for the Beta, so he asked, "Anyway, Alpha, may I know the lady beside you?"

"My girlfriend. Amerie."

I instantly rolled my eyes. How could Matthew give such a reply to his people? It clearly didn't fulfill the Beta's curiosity.

"Hello. My name is Amerie Blunt. Don't worry. I'm not a rogue, and I'm not planning anything against any pack. I'm just a university student in this city who happened to meet your Alpha." I began my introduction. "I hear you are his Beta. Nice to meet you." I continued with the sweet greeting.

The Beta glanced through the rearview as he drove the car, leaving the hotel area. "Yes. I'm the Beta. My name is Paul. Nice to meet you, Amerie. I didn't know my Alpha had such a beautiful girlfriend as you."

I hesitated for a moment. Should I tell the truth or just keep it the way it was?

"I bet you didn't know. We just met last night. And this morning, your Alpha asked me to follow him." In the end, I decided to tell everything. Paul is Matthew's trusted man, isn't he? So, he deserved the truth.

"Oh, really?" Paul tried to sound surprised, but the way it didn't bother me. However, I could see through his response. He became a bit agitated.

"Don't worry, Paul. As I said, I don't plan to hurt anyone, not you, your Alpha, or your pack. Matthew and I had a great night, and we agreed to continue that." I repeated my words, reassuring him. "But if you think I will harm your pack, you can kill me any time."

A loud growl suddenly erupted into the air. "No one will kill you."

Well, I actually didn't mean it. Because I had confidence in my words, I could say that I had never had a plan to hurt anyone. I was here, far from my family, seeking peace, not the other way around.

I turned sideways, giving Matthew a reassuring smile. "That's good, then. I don't want to die either."

"No one will die on my watch." Matthew still had a scowl on his face.

"Yes, I know."

Then, the room was silent. It seemed I was wrong to bring up such a topic. After talking about the rogue, I should have been more optimistic about easing the tension.

Fortunately, Paul stepped in my place to brighten the atmosphere. "Nice to see you together." Through the rearview, I could see a smile, which was kind of suspicious. For some reason, he looked like he was enjoying this.

"Have you found your mate, Paul?" I asked, changing the topic. As a Beta, Paul has an above-average body. He is tall, though a bit shorter than Matthew, and has muscles that are heaven-sight for women.

Of course, not me because I already had Matthew.

"Not yet," Paul answered.

"Girlfriend?"

"Nope."

So, he was single. No wonder he looked carefree.

"How about a crush?" I kept asking. Paul looked the same age as us, so it was impossible he didn't have a female he fancied.

Paul scratched the back of his head. "I have. But I don't think it's appropriate to call her a crush."

"Why?"

"She is underage."

"She'll be eighteen in three months." Matthew suddenly joined, causing my head to turn at him. He was no longer scowling.

"Oh, really?" I returned my focus to the Beta. "She'll probably be your mate." Werewolves usually find their mate after turning eighteen. But of course, some find them sooner, and some never find them.

Like me.

Relax. I no longer pitied myself for the fate Goddess threw at me, though I would be in bliss if she sent me one. But on the good side, I could choose whoever I loved to be my mate without fate forcing us to be together. Who knew my destined mate was cruel?

Okay. I tried to be optimistic here, so don't condemn me.

"I hope so."

Then, we talked about how Paul should approach her and gain her trust. I also gave advice on treating females. Oh, and we talked about how much we loved muscle, so they better show off more often.

"Mine is better," Matthew said with jealousy in his voice.

I rolled my eyes in disbelief. He is indeed a typical Alpha.

MATTHEWTurned out, he was like a typical Beta, having a strong and big body frame and emitted a strong aura that made ordinary wolf obey him.But I was stronger than him, even though I couldn't abuse my power to other packs' members. It was unethical since I wasn't their official Alpha. Nevertheless, I could still affect any ordinary wolf and it was above his."Do you want a coffee, Beta?" Miley broke the tension with her question. I noticed her coffee was done and I actually intended to make one for myself when Brandon came."You like offering coffeem don't you?" He chuckled."I used to drink my morning coffee and you happen to appear here. Why not offering you, too?""And your brother?""Ah, him." Miley glanced at me. "I will make him one, too. What do you want, brother?""As usual." I replied shortly."Two espresso, then." She nodded, concluding before starting to work with our order.Hm. His taste was similar to mine."I haven't notified about your visit. When did you arrive, Alp

MATTHEW I pressed the espresso button and waited for it to be done processing. After that, I would bring my coffee to the office and started to work. Or just sitting while doing nothing. I exhaled a heavy sigh. That was my routine since Amerie and Miley's leave. I used to see them coversing while enjoying their morning coffee at the kitchen area. And then, I would join them and we began to laugh together. Just a stress relief before the stress itself began. Now that they were gone, the house felt dull and empty. And my coffee tasted bitter than normal. Another sigh left my lips. I missed her. Three days had passed since the battle day. We had done with our own interrogation and been preparing a report to the Council. Soon we would submit it and the Council would take over them. And then what we could do was waiting for their judgement. Aside from that, everything was normal. We had to return to our duties because life must go on. The great battle was done and normal lif

AMERIE We returned to Black Knight the next morning after confirming for the last time that they were safe and no signs of them. Only then did we leave the cabin. But there were some warriors stationed to be ready in case there was unexpected attack. We arrived at the packhouse at lunchtime, welcomed by Mom and Naomi. Oh, there was an added little one. Alden. My nephew. "Are you welcoming me?" I spoke to Alden while carrying him in my hands. We got closer now as he was bubbling more to me. "Thank you. You're so nice." It was my response to his inaudible words. And what did I get in return? His giggles, which made everyone around one smile. It seemed like his cheerfulness influenced us. "What did you do during Aunty's leave, hm?" I asked again. "Oh, you're playing with your animal doll? Then what?" It was only my random guess. "Then playing with your mother?" And the last one got a hum from his as if he wanted to convey that I guessed it right this time. "I want to play with

MATTHEWThe night had come and my healing ability had fully recovered. Thus, the minor scratches on my body had disappeared, leaving the deep ones which was slowly recovering. Thus, I thought it was time to meet our prisoners.I nodded to warriors guarding the dungeon. From here, I could hear them screaming from the torture."Is Tyler or Carlo inside?" I asked the warriors."It's Alpha Carlo inside. Alpha Tyler left the dungeon just now."I gave an acknowledgement for the information before I made up my mind and entered the dungeon. It was dark and smelled sweats and blood. And then I spotted Carlo's figure standing inside one of the jail with a silver chain in his hand."You're late." Carlo said without taking his eyes off of the rogue.I grinned despite he couldn't see me while walking in his direction. "I have to explain our situation to the other team far away.""You have your father to do that. Or Alpha Theo." He replied."She needs to directly hear from me."He glanced at me bef

MATTHEWWe won.Once again. We won.It was a quite dramatic winning. How came?Because of the surprise we gave them.It definitely caught them off guard and scared them. But their choice to keep going was wrong because we had no mercy for them. We fought them and killed them. There were many losses in their side. How about us?Unfortunately, there were many injured warriors on our side, too. And some of them suffered severe injuries. However, no death on us.Thank, Goddess. We captured all of them and placed them in Tyler's pack. It was his request as he wanted a revenge for everything he got today. Like the rest of us, he got many cuts on his skin. Also there were several deeper wound, which luckily didn't deep enough and was not in critical spot to trigger a blood loss.Still, we had to stay at the hospital for further observation due to the silver poison. Yes. We had injected with the antidote. But a poison was still a poison. It ran throughout our blood and it needed to neutralize

TYLER'There is no movement towards the packs.' My man stationed to be the communicator informed me through a mindlink. The battle was underway, and hearing that gave me a bit relief. Our guess was right that they focused their attack on our route. However, we could never let our guard down until they lost.'Keep watching and don't lower the guard down. Most importantly, keep our connection on and announce your situation regularly.' I ordered while fighting the rogue in front of me.A disgusting brown rogue.'Yes, Alpha.'After that, I put all my focus back to my opponent. He was persistent to attack me, even though most of his attempts were useless. It merely gave me scratches.I just dodged from his attack when another rogue came in my direction. I avoided this one, either, and managed to kick him back. It made him stumbling on his feets and I used that moment to launch my real attack. We fought for some time until I succeed in clawing him apart. My action caused other rogues around

AMERIEI couldn't believe what I saw. My brother was here, in this room. How?"I will introduce you to these gentlemen." Alpha Adam's voice was heard again. The three new faces were standing in line with him. "Our first representative is Alpha Xavier from the North. Next is Alpha Alaric from the Ea

MATTHEW I couldn't help but feel nervous when my eyes caught Eliot and Hannah's movement in our direction. All I could think of was Amerie and all her responses to this meeting. I knew we had only met a little over two weeks ago. However, I had expressed my serious intention about our relationship,

AMERIE Matthew's Circle? Were there more of them aside from Alpha Tyler and Alpha Carlo? But I didn't have a chance to ask my question when Luna Helena's voice rang out again, "Can I borrow her for a moment, Alpha Matthew?" "Only if Amerie agrees to go with you." It was such a wise answer from th

AMERIEI finally met Audrey, Paul's mate. She looked as fragile as I had imagined.I didn't mean it negatively, okay? I had learned about her suffering and pictured how it affected her. She was thin in a less healthy way, scars were still visible on her wrist, and the worst was the ligh
