"So, you mean Damien had memory loss regarding the incident, and none of you really know the full story of what he saw?" Aiden asked, leaning forward. The weight of Mrs. Kate’s story made the luxurious room feel suddenly cold.

"Yes… he never opened up to anyone. And he’s told us never to call him Charlton since the day he woke up," Mrs. Kate replied, her voice dropping to a cautious whisper.

"But why? It’s just a name."

"I noticed that whenever we do, he gets these terrible headaches—and sometimes he ends up in the hospital," she whispered, looking toward the door. "Let me tell you a little secret…" She leaned in closer.

"What is it?" Aiden whispered back, caught up in the tension.

"Hey! You don’t have to whisper back," she scolded playfully, hitting his arm lightly.

"Oh… then why are you whispering? We’re the only ones in the room!" Aiden chuckled, the heavy mood breaking for a second.

"Err… yeah, true," she laughed dryly, and Aiden burst into a genuine fit of laughter.

"You really are in the mood to gossip, Mrs. Kate," he said with a grin.

"Well… he’s suffered from sleepless nights ever since then," she confided more seriously.

"Really? How do you know?"

"I’ve come across him almost every night, drinking alone in the study until midnight—or sometimes even until the sun comes up," she said, clapping her hands softly in a gesture of pity.

"That’s so lonely," Aiden sighed, looking at the door. He thought of Damien’s cold exterior and wondered if it was just a mask for exhaustion.

"Yeah, I guess that’s why he works late… to keep his mind busy," she waved it off. "But come to think of it… you asked how I owe him my life? After the tragedy, the family estate was in chaos. I was dismissed and things became hard. I couldn't even feed my child. But when Damien returned to Monaco as an adult, he found all of us. He took us back in and even sponsored our children to the most prestigious schools. My son is only able to go to university because of him."

"Wow… that’s actually really noble," Aiden smiled. "I guess that explains why he’s so different from his brothers."

"Exactly," Mrs. Kate replied, zipping up the last of his bags. "I have to go now. Sir Damien asked me to supervise the catering at the hotel."

"The event is at a hotel? I thought it was here," Aiden mumbled.

"No, he insisted on his hotel. He likes to keep his private residence… well, private," she explained before patting his cheek and leaving.

Left alone, Aiden flopped onto the bed. "If I knew I was getting into something this messy, I wouldn't have come... not that I had a choice," he grumbled to the ceiling. "And it's not like I'm gay. I'm as straight as Tokyo Tower."

He spent a few minutes hunting for his phone, finally finding it buried in the wardrobe. There was a notification from an unknown number.

HEY, IT’S ME, FROM LAST TIME… HOPING TO SEE YOU THIS EVENING.

Aiden’s heart skipped. Mike. He stared at the screen for a long time before deciding to ignore it. He didn't need any more trouble with Damien.

A moment later, a maid entered carrying a garment bag and a sleek shoe box. "Instructions from Master Damien, sir," she said, bowing quickly and departing. Aiden opened the bag to find a tuxedo that looked like it belonged on a red carpet.

He immediately dialed Damien’s number. "Hello? There's been a wrong delivery. A tuxedo and designer shoes."

"Wrong delivery?" Damien’s voice was smooth and distracting over the line.

"Yeah… I'm not really a suit guy. I’ll have the maid return them."

"Aiden… don’t worry about it. I’ll get you what you want," Damien assured him. "At 5 p.m., my driver will pick you up so we can go out and find something you feel comfortable in."

"I have clothes here! You're just wasting money," Aiden protested.

"Get ready. No more talks," Damien said firmly, ending the call.

Aiden groaned, but a small part of him felt a flutter of excitement. He took a quick shower and was resting when Justine called.

"Dude, how are you? Still in one piece?"

"I’m pretty good, actually," Aiden replied.

"You missed a lot," Justine chuckled. "The rumors at the university are insane. People are saying you’re on a secret honeymoon with the Smith heir."

"Ehhhhh!" Aiden exclaimed, his face turning bright red as he buried his head in a pillow. "Shut up, Justine! It's not like that!"

  • When Two Worlds Collide    CHAPTER 27 — The Boy Before Aiden

“Mom, please… I’m sorry.”Aiden’s voice cracked, thin and trembling beneath his own ragged breathing. Tears blurred his vision as they slipped down his bruised cheeks. Blood trickled slowly from the cut near his forehead. The room smelled of iron.He curled tighter against the floor, arms wrapped around himself as if he could shrink small enough to disappear.“Please,” he whispered.“Don’t call me that.”The woman standing over him stared down with open disgust.“I am not the mother of something like you.”Her words cut deeper than the slap. Aiden lowered his head at once, shoulders shaking as he fought to swallow his sobs. He had learned long ago that crying too loudly only made things worse.“Mommy, stop!”Small feet rushed forward. Finn’s tiny hands grabbed their mother’s arm, tears streaming down his round face.“Brother said sorry!”The anger on her face vanished the moment she looked at him. Her voice softened instantly, sweet and practiced.“Sweetheart, don’t cry. Mommy’s not an

Justin had the uncomfortable feeling that someone was following him.At first, he tried to ignore it. University corridors were always crowded, and he told himself he was simply overthinking things. But the sensation didn't disappear. If anything, it grew stronger. He tightened his grip on his backpack and hurried toward the nearest restroom."Maybe I'm just paranoid," he muttered under his breath. The men's restroom was empty and unusually quiet. Justin let out a relieved sigh as he walked toward one of the cubicles."Finally.""Hello, handsome."Justin nearly jumped out of his skin.He turned around to find a familiar face leaning casually against the sink counter. It was the same girl from the university cafeteria. The one who had practically interrogated him about the Smith family. She smiled brightly."It's been a while."Justin stared at her in disbelief."Oh. You." He forced a polite smile. "Can we talk later? I really need to use the restroom.""No," she replied sharply, crossi

In Damien's Car"Sir, should we head straight to the mansion?" Sean asked as he glanced at Damien through the rearview mirror.Damien remained silent for a moment, staring out at the city lights rushing past the tinted windows."Have you confirmed it?" he asked finally."Not yet, sir. But we should have the final report by tomorrow morning," Sean replied.Damien tapped his fingers lightly against the armrest."I want to check on him."Sean nodded immediately."Very well, sir. We'll head to his apartment. According to our people, he didn't go to work today after his classes.""Hmm."The rest of the journey passed in silence.By the time they arrived near Aiden's apartment building, the sky had already darkened. Street lamps cast long shadows across the pavement, and the evening air carried the distant sounds of traffic and laughter from nearby restaurants.Damien's gaze shifted toward the entrance of the apartment complex. Then he saw them.Aiden and Justin were walking slowly toward t

  • When Two Worlds Collide    AUTHOR'S NOTE

Hello everyone! ❤️ I just wanted to drop a quick note and explain why Chapter 25 is taking longer than usual. Recently, I've been dealing with a bit of writer's block. I know the story has reached an important stage, and I don't want to rush out a chapter that doesn't meet the standard I want for Aiden, Damien, and the rest of the characters. To everyone who has been reading, thank you so much. Seeing the views continue to grow means a lot to me, even when the comment section is quiet. Sometimes it's hard to know what readers are thinking, but I truly appreciate every single person who takes the time to read this story. Chapter 25 is still coming. I just need a little time to get the flow right and make sure the next part of the story is worth the wait. In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment about your favorite character, your theories about Mike, Damien, Aiden, or what you think will happen next. I would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you all for your patience and supp

  • When Two Worlds Collide    CHAPTER 24 — The First Move

Inside Mike's car, the atmosphere was eerily calm. The luxury sedan glided through the streets of Monaco while the city lights reflected against the tinted windows. Mike sat comfortably in the back seat, one arm resting against the leather armrest, a faint smile lingering on his lips. His assistant glanced at him through the rearview mirror. "Do you really think Aiden is going to be the right bait, sir?" Mike's smile widened. "Obviously." He adjusted the cuff of his sleeve and stared out the window. "I just need the proper timing. A fish doesn't bite the hook the moment you throw it into the water." The assistant nodded. "And Damien?" Mike chuckled. "Damien is predictable. That's his weakness." "How so, sir?" "Because the moment Aiden is involved, he stops thinking like a business

  • When Two Worlds Collide    CHAPTER 23 : The Quiet Before the Wrong Smile

The morning bell above the café door chimed softly, breaking the stillness as sunlight spilled across the polished wooden counters like liquid gold. Aiden moved behind the espresso machine with slow, tired motions. Steam hissed upward, curling in thin spirals, almost like it wanted to escape the same life he had only just managed to return to.“Boss, you’re early again,” one of the staff called from the kitchen, the sound of clinking cups following her voice. “I couldn’t sleep,” Aiden replied lightly, forcing a small smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Besides, this place runs better when I’m here.”From the side counter, Justin leaned casually against it, sipping a takeaway cup like he owned the morning. “You say that like you’re not the reason it runs at all,” he said.Aiden shot him a glance. “Flattery won’t get you free breakfast.” “It usually does.”That earn
