Aiden’s laughter died in his throat, replaced by a cold, prickling dread. He glanced around the silent cabin, his face heating up until he was sure he was glowing crimson. The realization hit him like a physical blow: everyone had heard his loud denial, and the very people he claimed not to know were sitting exactly three feet away.

"What Smiths? You mean...?" he stammered into the phone, his eyes darting toward Damien. Damien remained fixed on his laptop, his expression unreadable, but the heavy aura radiating from him suggested he had heard every single syllable.

"Yes, the Smiths—I mean Damien!" Justin’s voice blared from the speaker.

Aiden panicked, his thumb fumbling for the end-call button. "Hey, let's finish this convo later. Bye!"

"Hey! Hey! Don't you dare hang up—" Justin yelled, but the screen went black.

Back at the university cafeteria, Justin stared at his phone in disbelief before reluctantly returning to the table where his crush was waiting.

"Sorry I kept you waiting, there was no empty cubicle," he lied smoothly, trying to mask the adrenaline from his frantic call with Aiden.

"Thanks for the lunch, Justin. About the Smiths..." The woman paused, her sly smile intensifying. "They are my favorites. I’ve followed their business empire for years. I was so delighted when I heard you were close to them. I thought maybe... I could finally get to meet them."

She leaned in, her eyes bright and focused. "I heard you even connected your friend Aiden with them. You must be incredibly high-profile to be that deep in their inner circle."

Justin felt a bead of sweat roll down his neck. "Oh, I see. So that’s why you wanted to talk to me? To use me as a bridge to the Smiths?"

"No, not at all," she lied, fighting the urge to fidget. "I just used that as an excuse to get closer to you. I’ve been wanting a reason to meet you for a long time."

She blushed, and Justin bit his lower lip to keep from grinning like an idiot. Oh my gosh, he thought, is this actually happening? "Can I have your contact so we can talk more? My class starts soon."

As they exchanged numbers, Justin felt a momentary wave of guilt for Aiden, but it was quickly drowned out by the thrill of his own success.

On the plane, Aiden stood up and bowed deeply to the other passengers, his face still a brilliant shade of scarlet.

"I’m really sorry, everyone. Please excuse my loud behavior," he whispered, quickly scurrying toward the back of the plane. He noticed Charlie watching him with a wide, entertained grin.

Hours later, the plane touched down in Monaco. As they walked toward the waiting cars, Aiden watched his luggage being loaded into a sleek vehicle. He approached Charlie, looking down at his shoes.

"I'm really sorry about earlier. I didn't realize how loud I was being in such a... private space," Aiden mumbled.

"It’s no big deal," Charlie replied, stepping into the driver's seat and signaling Aiden to join him. "It is I who should be sorry for what my family put you through in Tokyo. Please pardon my brother—he’s cold and lacks basic empathy for most human beings." Charlie paused, his tone shifting to something more cryptic. "But notwithstanding, your stake is high."

Aiden tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean by 'my stake is high'? I don't understand."

Charlie offered a mysterious smile, eyes on the road. "Don't worry. You will very soon."

"Hum," Aiden nodded, still lost. As they neared the university district, Aiden whispered the question that had been burning a hole in his tongue. "Did... did Mr. Damien hear everything I said on the phone?"

Charlie nodded slowly. "Every word."

Aiden’s head dropped into his hands. "Oh my gosh! What am I going to do? He probably thinks I’m a total idiot."

"Don’t overthink it. Go home and make yourself comfortable. You've had a long few days," Charlie comforted him.

"Charlie, drop him off on your way to your apartment," Damien’s voice came from the back of the car, cool and authoritative.

A few minutes later, Justin, standing by the window of their new off-campus apartment, noticed a white Porsche pull up to the curb.

"Who is this?" he wondered aloud. He watched as Aiden climbed out of the front seat, followed by a handsome man (Charlie) who walked to the trunk to retrieve the bags. Before Justin could get a good look at the stranger's face, the man was back in the driver's seat.

Aiden stood by his luggage as the engine purred. "Thank you, Senior."

"Just call me Charlie, like before," Charlie replied through the open window.

"Okay. Charlie. Please don't tell anyone where my new place is... and I think this will be our last meeting. Take care."

Charlie smiled, a hint of foreboding in his eyes. "I doubt that very much. But bye for now, Aiden." The Porsche roared away, disappearing into the city traffic.

"Welcome back, baby girl!" Justin greeted Aiden with a massive hug the second he stepped through the door.

"Thanks, Mama," Aiden replied playfully, dropping his bags. The weight of the last few days seemed to lift as they both burst into laughter, the familiar safety of home finally surrounding him.

Justin had exactly thirty-seven minutes to regret agreeing to Charlie's invitation. The moment the sleek black luxury sedan pulled up outside his apartment building, he had considered pretending he wasn't home. Unfortunately, the driver had stepped out, bowed politely, and addressed him by his full name. There was no escaping after that. Now seated in the back of a car that probably cost more than his future career earnings combined, Justin stared out the tinted window as Monaco's busy streets slowly gave way to quieter roads and increasingly ridiculous properties."This is insane," he muttered for what was probably the fifth time. The driver, maintaining perfect professional silence, didn't respond.Justin sighed dramatically and leaned back against the leather seat."Maybe they're taking me somewhere to harvest my organs."Still no response."Fair enough," he muttered. "I wouldn't answer that either."The car continued down a private road lined with trees that somehow looked expensive

  • When Two Worlds Collide    CHAPTER 28 — Waking Up

Aiden woke up to the sound of someone speaking. Not immediately. First came the darkness. Then the panic. Then the slow, painful return of reality. His chest rose and fell rapidly as he stared at the unfamiliar ceiling above him. For a brief, terrifying second, he didn't know where he was. His body felt heavy, his head clouded with fragments of a nightmare he couldn't fully remember.No. Not a nightmare. A memory."You're awake." The voice pulled him back completely.Aiden turned his head. Damien was sitting beside the bed, still dressed in yesterday's clothes. His sleeves were rolled up, and there were dark circles beneath his eyes that Aiden had never noticed before. For a moment, neither of them spoke.Aiden blinked several times."W-what happened?" he asked quietly.Damien leaned back in the chair."You don't remember?"Aiden frowned. The party. The drinking. The phone call. His eyes widened."Oh my God."He sat upright too quickly and immediately regretted it as his head began to

  • When Two Worlds Collide    CHAPTER 27 — The Boy Before Aiden

“Mom, please… I’m sorry.”Aiden’s voice cracked, thin and trembling beneath his own ragged breathing. Tears blurred his vision as they slipped down his bruised cheeks. Blood trickled slowly from the cut near his forehead. The room smelled of iron.He curled tighter against the floor, arms wrapped around himself as if he could shrink small enough to disappear.“Please,” he whispered.“Don’t call me that.”The woman standing over him stared down with open disgust.“I am not the mother of something like you.”Her words cut deeper than the slap. Aiden lowered his head at once, shoulders shaking as he fought to swallow his sobs. He had learned long ago that crying too loudly only made things worse.“Mommy, stop!”Small feet rushed forward. Finn’s tiny hands grabbed their mother’s arm, tears streaming down his round face.“Brother said sorry!”The anger on her face vanished the moment she looked at him. Her voice softened instantly, sweet and practiced.“Sweetheart, don’t cry. Mommy’s not an

Justin had the uncomfortable feeling that someone was following him.At first, he tried to ignore it. University corridors were always crowded, and he told himself he was simply overthinking things. But the sensation didn't disappear. If anything, it grew stronger. He tightened his grip on his backpack and hurried toward the nearest restroom."Maybe I'm just paranoid," he muttered under his breath. The men's restroom was empty and unusually quiet. Justin let out a relieved sigh as he walked toward one of the cubicles."Finally.""Hello, handsome."Justin nearly jumped out of his skin.He turned around to find a familiar face leaning casually against the sink counter. It was the same girl from the university cafeteria. The one who had practically interrogated him about the Smith family. She smiled brightly."It's been a while."Justin stared at her in disbelief."Oh. You." He forced a polite smile. "Can we talk later? I really need to use the restroom.""No," she replied sharply, crossi

Sean asked as he glanced at Damien through the rearview mirror.Damien remained silent for a moment, staring out at the city lights rushing past the tinted windows."Have you confirmed it?" he asked finally."Not yet, sir. But we should have the final report by tomorrow morning," Sean replied.Damien tapped his fingers lightly against the armrest."I want to check on him."Sean nodded immediately."Very well, sir. We'll head to his apartment. According to our people, he didn't go to work today after his classes.""Hmm."The rest of the journey passed in silence.By the time they arrived near Aiden's apartment building, the sky had already darkened. • When Two Worlds Collide    AUTHOR'S NOTE

Hello everyone! ❤️ I just wanted to drop a quick note and explain why Chapter 25 is taking longer than usual. Recently, I've been dealing with a bit of writer's block. I know the story has reached an important stage, and I don't want to rush out a chapter that doesn't meet the standard I want for Aiden, Damien, and the rest of the characters. To everyone who has been reading, thank you so much. Seeing the views continue to grow means a lot to me, even when the comment section is quiet. Sometimes it's hard to know what readers are thinking, but I truly appreciate every single person who takes the time to read this story. Chapter 25 is still coming. I just need a little time to get the flow right and make sure the next part of the story is worth the wait. In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment about your favorite character, your theories about Mike, Damien, Aiden, or what you think will happen next. I would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you all for your patience and supp
