“We’re sorry, but miss Moretti, if you don’t pay the bill any time soon, I’m afraid we can no longer offer our services” The nurse said, a sad look on her face.
My mother had been laying on the same bed for a few weeks, the treatments took all the money that was left.
I nod, looking back at the nurse, “Just make sure my mother is fine, I’ll handle the bills” I answered her, glancing at my mom’s thin, weak body through the window.
“And please, don't allow anyone in…” I added, my eyes suddenly staring at the nurse’s surprised face.
“Well, there was this man…He said he’s a friend. He even left flowers” My eyes widened, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest.
“What? And you let him in?” My voice was suddenly loud, as I watched her pale face staring back at me in shock.
I took a closer step toward her, my jaw clenching as I continued to shoot her the same deadly glare.
“I apologize, it was a huge mistake…” The nurse looked down as she gulped nervously.
“Just make sure that won't happen again” I warned, and when she finally nodded her head I left, even though I'm still a bit terrified and scared to death.
I knew he'd come and visit, but I guess I didn't know it'd be so fast!
It's been two years since we last saw him, my father. After discovering his big secret, we decided to leave everything behind: our huge mansion, our jewelry, and the man who provided all that stuff.
I sighed, realizing that my feet were already leading me outside the hospital, not having any clue where I was going.
I dialed some of our relatives' numbers, even some of my mother’s friends, but none of them picked up. It was as if they never knew my mother, either that or they just quit knowing us after they heard she was sick and needed their help.
I sighed, wiping the tear that’d been struggling to fall, still wandering aimlessly down the street, but suddenly a red lightning sign blinded my sight, capturing my attention right away.
I looked up and narrowed my eyes, as if that red sign suddenly wasn’t something you could just ignore and walk away from. Like it was the sign, the solution to all of my problems.
The sign said “For Gentlemen Only”
I frowned, lost in my thoughts for a moment, a bad idea started to form in my head, and for an unknown reason, my lips mumbled the words:
“They say everything comes with a price”.
I then shook my head, there was no way in hell I was giving my body to some stranger and for what? For some money!
The conversation inside my head was suddenly interrupted by the presence of a tall strong muscular guy, who was wearing a black long coat.
My eyes darted to his sharp, well- defined chin. For some reason, I never dared to look up into his eyes. Maybe because, somehow, I was afraid to stare back at him. There was something about him, I could tell just from the shape of his chin, and the strength of his shoulders. The way he walked as if he already owned not just that street, but the whole city.
He stopped, still staring down at me, I could feel his burning gaze on me, just to realize a minute later I was blocking his way towards the house of pleasures.
I cleared my throat, stepping aside immediately. My face heated up all of a sudden when I glimpsed a playful smirk on the corner of his lips.
The tall guy suddenly passed by me, mumbling something I couldn’t catch.
The wealth was very clear on that guy, his clothes, his confidence, and the fancy black Mercedes that was parked a few centimeters away from him.
I sneaked a peek at the driver’s seat to see a driver already sitting behind the wheel, smoking a cigarette and scrolling on his phone, seeming all bored.
As I was about to leave my spot, a female voice stopped me in my tracks.
“You!” I froze for a moment, then looked towards a middle aged woman standing at the entrance.
“Me?” I ask, gulping nervously. The woman was wearing a lot of makeup, and don’t even let me start talking about her slutty outfit.
“Come here” Her order left me speechless as I blinked twice before finally walking hesitantly towards her.
“I have a great offer for you, are you interested?” she asked, her green wide eyes scanning me from head to toe, and it took a long time from me before finally realizing what she meant by that.
“N_No…I’m not” I shake my head, feeling disgusted. Her eyelashes were weighed down with mascara, and the strong smell of alcohol coming from her direction was repelling.
The disappointment on her face was really obvious as she stopped chewing the gum, giving me a cold serious glare.
“Are you sure? It’s a great offer” Her question made me realize that this is my chance, and I should just take it, but another voice kept beeping deep down, that what I was doing was wrong, and that I should just continue to walk away from this dirty place, and forget about this whole stupid idea.
My mom would be so disappointed, and mad at me. She had suffered a lot those past few years, and didn’t do that just so I would give myself to some stranger for some money in the end!
I shook my head unwillingly, shooting her one last deadly glare before finally turning around.
“He says everything comes with a price” She blurted, louder this time, grabbing my attention.
Wasn’t it the same thing I said moments ago?
I stood in my spot, speechless, and paralyzed. I wondered what she saw in me that made her so stubborn to let me go…
Catherine:I couldn’t sleep the whole night…I was tired, heartbroken and hopeless.I didn't have to look in the mirror to know my eyes were swollen from crying all night. I had a quick shower then wrapped myself in the towel before I started wearing my makeup.Emilia told me that she was keeping a surprise for me. I had no idea what that surprise was. I was just hoping she wouldn’t surprise me like the last time and make me wear some alien costume.I sighed, staring at my puffy eyes. It was very obvious that I spent the whole night crying.Nico was back to Ellen, and tonight was the night he made it official.I took a deep breath, but suddenly heard sudden footsteps in my room. Before I get to step outside the bathroom to see who it was, I was surprised that no one was there.I frowned when I saw a big box on my bed.“Oh…” I walked toward my bed and opened the box to see a red dress inside with red sandals.I was surprised to be honest, maybe because I thought that Emilia didn’t hav
Catherine:I watched him storming outside the room.I placed my hand over my chest. My heart was bleeding as I watched the pain in his eyes. This time, I broke down, falling on my knees, crying my heart out.For the first time in my life, I was lost and confused. Not wanting what I wanted was something new to me.I had planned for my whole life since the day I escaped from my father.I thought I wanted a simple life, a simple house. No complications, just the ordinary family you see on TV in the nineties. But then, I met Nico…He turned my whole world upside down. The moment he stood so close to me, asking me to look at him. I felt as if my whole emotions were naked in front of him.It felt like he wanted me just as much as I wanted him.I wasn’t strong anymore, I was vulnerable and naive.I was confused because he was still confused as well.He didn’t know what he wanted. He still couldn’t believe me, and yet he defended me all of a sudden…Why?I stared at the painting, not believi
Nico:I watched Catherine holding her brush then placing it back for the hundredth time this morning. She looked annoyed and emotional. She didn’t even look into my eyes while she kept drawing on that painting.“Aren’t you supposed to look at me while you’re doing your…art” I said, holding back my laughter once I saw the annoyed look on her face.“Well, there aren’t too many details anyway” Her words made me clench my jaw out of frustration. She did not just say that!“Plus, I have a good memory…Your face is the only thing I saw for months” She added, this time staring at me.“It’s the dream of a lot of girls,” I said with a smirk.“Wow” She mouthed, rolling her eyes then staring back at the painting.I clenched my fists. That’s it! I said to myself.I couldn’t let her mock me anymore!I stood from my chair, making her look up at me.Before I got to say anything, the door swung open. I watched Emilia and Ellen walking inside the room, both of them shooting cold stares toward Catherine
Catherine:I could barely move my feet in his direction. What if he heard our conversation? What if he knew the truth? That I was pregnant with his baby.I continued to shoot him the same confused look, but then he approached me silently, making my heart race even faster. He then all of a sudden narrowed his eyes at me. “What did you want to talk about?” He asked.I gulped, a bit disappointed that he didn’t hear us. Part of me really wanted him to know.“I…okay…” I let out a deep breath, staring down then staring back at him.“There’s something you should know,” I started.Nico motioned for me to continue.I didn’t know it was so hard for me to tell him something like this. Maybe because I was afraid that he’d be heartbroken once he found out that Ellen was lying to him all this time?“Ellen is not pregnant” I said very fast like ripping off a bandage.Nico stood right there, his eyes wide open from the shock. He currently didn’t see that coming.“What?” He asked, taking a few steps t
Catherine:My eyes flew open as everything came rushing back…My breath quickened the moment my eyes were laid on him.“What the hell is going on? Where are you taking me?!” I sat myself in the backseat of the car he was driving.I realized he was driving fast, but the moment I woke up he stepped o
Catherine:A few days had passed since the last time I tried to talk to Nico…Well, that didn’t turn out well, I guess. It was so hard for me to forget everything that happened, I still didn’t though.Everything Enzo told me was a lie. My father is still denying the fact I didn’t want anything to d
Nico:“You can kill me. I don’t care! Not anymore. Just don’t kill her!” I tilted my head, narrowing my eyes at him.“I’m begging you” His eyes staring straight into mine.“Since you give too damn about her, then why haven’t you thought this through before this FUCKING MOMENT?” I growled, staring a
Catherine:Nico’s hands fixed my head as he pulled me into a deep, long kiss…My whole body froze, and surprisingly it felt nice…It wasn’t weird, it brought too many emotions back. All the memories of our first night all of a sudden flooding back, and so many mixed feelings I didn’t even know they
