Isabella's Pov

The gala was dazzling, huge chandeliers, designer clothes everywhere, and New York’s top business people filling the ballroom. I wore a rich emerald dress that Damien had chosen for me. It looked good and still hid my pregnancy. His hand stayed protectively on my lower back as we walked in.

People turned to look. Whispers started right away.

Damien looked strong and powerful in his tuxedo, the silver in his hair catching the light. He walked us through the room like I belonged there with him.

I spotted Ethan across the room with Vanessa. She looked elegant in her jewels. Ethan’s face went completely pale the second he saw us.

Damien didn’t wait.

He raised his glass during the main toast. His voice carried clearly through the quieting room.

“Tonight I want to share something personal. After years of focusing only on Blackwood Holdings, I’ve found someone worth building a future with. Please welcome my fiancée… Isabella Hart.”

Gasps went through the crowd. Camera flashes went off everywhere.

A woman near us whispered loudly to her husband, “Is that who I think it is? Ethan Blackwood’s old girlfriend?”

Her husband tried to quiet her, but more whispers followed. “This can’t be real. Damien never brings anyone to these events.”

One older man nearby turned to his companion and said, “Damien Blackwood settling down? After all these years? This is going to be the talk of the town tomorrow.”

Another guest added, “And with such a young woman? Interesting choice.”

Ethan pushed through the crowd, bumping into a server. His eyes were full of anger and shock.

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!” he shouted, his voice echoing. “Her? She’s pregnant with my kid, Father! This is low, even for you!”

The whole room went silent.

Damien’s face stayed calm. He pulled me closer, his arm firm around my waist.

“Is that right, son?” he asked coolly. “Because it looks to me like you threw away the best thing you’ll ever lose.”

Ethan’s face twisted with rage. “She’s using you! Just like she tried to trap me!”

Vanessa stepped up next to him. Her perfect smile had disappeared, replaced by a cold glare. “Is this some kind of joke? Ethan told me all about her. She’s just a desperate ex trying to get back into the family money.”

I stepped forward, keeping my voice steady even though my heart was racing.

“I never trapped anyone, Ethan. I built you up. Now I’m choosing better for myself.”

Damien’s fingers pressed gently into my side, like he approved.

Ethan laughed bitterly and looked around at the watching crowd. “You hear that, everyone? She says she ‘built me up.’ That’s funny. Isabella was just my assistant, nothing more. Now she’s playing the victim and dragging my father into her mess. Father, do you even know she’s carrying my child? This is sick.”

A few guests gasped. Someone muttered, “This is better than any soap opera.”

Another voice from the crowd said, “Someone should call security. This is getting out of hand.”

I turned to Ethan, keeping my tone calm. “Your child? The one you told me to get rid of? The one you threw me out for after six years? I didn’t come looking for revenge, Ethan. But I won’t hide anymore either. Do you remember all the nights I stayed up helping you prepare for meetings? Or fixing your presentations at the last minute? I was never just an assistant.”

Vanessa crossed her arms, her voice sharp. “Oh please. You probably planned this whole thing. Running to Damien the second things got tough. How convenient. Ethan, tell them how she was always so clingy and needy.”

Ethan nodded quickly. “Exactly. She couldn’t handle that I was moving on to bigger things. Now she’s trying to destroy my reputation by going after my own father. This is pathetic.”

Damien’s voice cut through like ice. “Enough. Both of you. Isabella is my fiancée now. The details of your failed relationship are not up for public discussion. Ethan, you had your chance to be a man. You chose differently. Now live with it. And Vanessa, I suggest you stay out of matters that don’t concern you.”

Ethan leaned in closer, lowering his voice but still loud enough for people nearby to hear. “This is going to ruin everything I’ve worked for. The investors, the board, how do you think this makes me look? My own father stealing my leftovers? People are going to talk about this for months.”

“Leftovers?” I said, shaking my head. “That’s how you see me? After all the late nights I spent fixing your pitches and calming your nerves before meetings? I deserved better than being your secret helper while you showed off Vanessa. I gave you six years of my life, Ethan. Six years of support, ideas, and loyalty. And you threw it away like it meant nothing.”

Damien nodded slightly at me, then looked back at Ethan. “You’re making a scene, son. This isn’t about your image. It’s about consequences. Isabella and the child will be taken care of properly, something you failed to do. Maybe this will finally teach you that you can’t treat people like they’re disposable.”

Vanessa tugged at Ethan’s arm. “Come on, let’s go. This is embarrassing. People are staring. We don’t need this kind of drama tonight.”

But Ethan wasn’t finished. He kept coming closer, his voice dropping to a poisonous whisper that only we could hear.

“This isn’t over, Isabella. And you…” He glared at Damien. “You’ll regret this. I swear it.”

Damien leaned in toward his son, his tone like frozen steel.

“Careful, Ethan. You’re looking at the new Mrs. Blackwood. And if you come after her again…”

He paused, eyes dark with warning.

“I will destroy you.”

Isabella’s POVThe laughter from the baby shower still echoed in my ears as Damien helped me into the car. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much, and my heart felt lighter than it had in months. For the first time since this pregnancy began, I had spent an entire afternoon surrounded by people who loved me without worrying about cameras, gossip, or the next scandal waiting around the corner.I rested one hand on my stomach and smiled.“I think our little one enjoyed today.”Damien glanced at me as he started the engine.“I think so too. I’ve never seen you laugh that much.”“I almost cried when Grandfather tried to guess the baby food flavors.”He chuckled.“I’ve never seen him lose a game so dramatically.”We both laughed again before silence settled comfortably between us. Damien reached across the center console and intertwined his fingers with mine.“You deserved today,” he said softly. “You’ve been through so much.”I turned to look at him.“So have you.”He simply smiled and brou

Isabella’s POVThe first thing I noticed when I stepped out of the elevator was the sound of laughter. It wasn’t loud enough to be overwhelming, but it echoed softly through the hallway of Blackwood Tower’s private event floor. I frowned and looked at Damien, who had insisted we come to the building after lunch even though he refused to tell me why.“You’ve been acting suspicious all morning,” I said, narrowing my eyes at him.He smiled innocently, though the amusement in his eyes immediately gave him away.“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”“You’ve checked your phone every five minutes.”“I’ve had work to do.”“You never smile at work messages.”He laughed quietly and slipped his fingers through mine.“I guess you’ll find out soon enough.”I shook my head.“If this is another business event, I’m going home.”“It isn’t.”“You promise?”“I promise.”There was something about the way he looked at me that made my curiosity grow. For the last week he had been making mysterious ph

Isabella’s PovEthan's request stayed in my mind every single day. I woke up thinking about it. I went to bed thinking about it. He wanted to be there when the baby was born. Not in the delivery room maybe, but nearby. Just there for the moment his child came into the world. It seemed simple. A father wanting to be present. But it felt impossible to me. I was torn in a way I had never been before.Ethan was the baby's biological father. That truth lived inside me. The baby was part of him. He had a right to want to be there. But Damien had held my hand through everything. Every craving. Every sleepless night. Every doctor's visit. Damien rubbed my swollen feet. He made me tea at three in the morning. He rearranged his entire life to stay close these final weeks. How could I say yes to Ethan without hurting him?I spent two full days thinking about it. I walked slowly through the garden. I felt the baby move with every step. I sat in the nursery and touched the soft blankets we had bou

  • Married To My Ex's Ruthless Father   Chapter Forty-Five

Isabella’s PovI entered the final weeks of my pregnancy feeling like a balloon ready to pop. Everything felt heavier. My back ached all the time, my feet were swollen, and even simple walks left me tired. The baby moved constantly now, big kicks and rolls that reminded me every minute that our little one was almost here. Everyone around me became so protective. The guards at the gate checked every visitor twice. The house staff made sure I had fresh fruit and pillows everywhere. Even the doctor called more often to check on me.Damien was the most protective of all. He refused to let me attend any stressful events. When a family friend invited us to a small dinner, he politely said no. “You need calm, not small talk,” he told me gently. I tried to argue at first, but he was right. My body felt too worn out for anything extra. He rearranged his whole schedule to be home every evening. No more late nights at the office or long video calls. He came back by six o’clock, kicked off his

Isabella’s POVI never imagined I would wear a wedding dress twice. The first time, I had stood beside Damien because of a contract.I remembered how nervous I had been that day. My hands had been cold, my heart had been filled with uncertainty, and my mind had been occupied with rules, responsibilities, and expectations.I hadn’t known the man waiting for me at the altar. He had been distant, cold and impossible to read.Back then, I never thought I would one day fall in love with him.Yet here I was.Standing in front of a full-length mirror, wearing another white dress. This time, everything felt different.I wasn’t marrying a stranger.I was marrying the man who had slowly become my safest place.A soft knock sounded on the door before it opened.Claire stepped inside with a bright smile. She stopped walking the moment she looked at me.“Oh, Isabella…”Her eyes immediately became watery.“You look beautiful.”I laughed softly.“You’ve only seen me for two seconds.”“And that’s all

Isabella’s POVThe interview had ended almost an hour ago, but my heart was still racing.Every word I had spoken kept replaying in my mind.Damien is my husband. I chose him, and I will continue choosing him.I had said it in front of cameras, reporters, and millions of people watching online. For the first time since our marriage began, I hadn’t spoken because it was expected of me.I had spoken because it was true.As I walked through the lobby of Blackwood Tower, employees smiled at me. Some congratulated me quietly while others simply nodded with warm expressions. The tension that had followed us for months seemed to have disappeared. When the elevator doors opened, Damien was already waiting for me.He wasn’t wearing his usual cold expression.Instead, there was a softness in his eyes that I had never seen before.“You’ve been waiting here?” I asked with a smile.“For twenty-three minutes.”I laughed.“You counted?”“I counted every minute.”He reached for my hand, intertwining
